Cuban’s actions essentially warned everyone in the organization “Lose this game or else….”

Jason Kidd pretty much said as much even prior to the game.

Blatantly throwing a “must win” game, essentially to win a bet (isn’t pick protection sort of a bet between two teams?) seems punishable to me.

Whether it’s the SEC or Adam Silver, one of the self-privileges that Cuban seems to relish is challenging authority. The extreme way that the Mavs tanked the last game seems to be a symbolic middle finger to Silver. Tanking is fairly pervasive, but the pushing-the-envelope style here invites a harsher sanction, which alas will not be forthcoming.

Anyone know anything about our new player Isaiah Roby? Fairly interesting stocks in college and physical profile seems promising.

He’s a forward who was supposed to be a strong & versatile defender out of college.

Apparently played some small ball 5 for OKC a couple years ago.

Supposedly got cut by the Spurs after they decided they wanted more size to replace Poeltl.

BUT WILL LUCAS VILDOZA BE IN THE POSTSEASON ROTATION? THAT IS WHAT I WANT TO KNOW?

Katz says he’s non-guaranteed for next year.

At least he’ll be a better practice body to simulate Mobley if nothing else.

Popper reports a league source saying it’s a future move.

It’s probably a favor for his agent.

    Happy Easter, KBers!

    Himmanuel is risen!

Crvena zvezda mts are currently in 3rd place and very likely to make the playoffs

Of course his first name is Isaiah. If only he was left-handed. Career 35% three-point shooter. He looks like a perfectly cromulent backup 4. Adios Obi.

Cuban reminds me of the Wall St type that does something for personal gain he knows is right at the edge of breaking the rules and definitely wrong given their intent, but he excuses it by saying “I didn’t make the rules”.

There’s no way dumping a must win game when you are still technically alive is the same as a bunch of bad teams jockeying for position at the end of the season by playing their young prospects instead of their more productive veterans. And even that has negative implications for teams battling for playoff positioning. One team may have played that team at full strength and another gets to play the intentional tanking squad.

Cuban’s actions seem much more like an F you to the Knicks and not the NBA. I think he’s being super petty about Brunson.

Here’s the thing. Did the Knicks tamper to get Brunson? Probably. But outside of him signing with us right away and is hiring his Dad, was there actual evidence of tampering? Like text messages before free agency, etc? I don’t think so which is why the NBA just did its usual penalty of making us give up a second rounder.

And tampering doesn’t affect the product on the court directly. What Cuban did was blatantly lowers the product on the floor and spits in the face of competition. I mean the whole play in was supposed to stop that. And doing this when they owe us a pick with protections seems like trying to go back on a previous deal.

It’s not our fault porzingis didn’t work out. I thought that was a more than fair trade for both sides but many think we didn’t get enough. And Cuban had every opportunity to pay Brunson a fair contract before the Knicks were even on his radar. And he knew the risks of making a big Kyrie trade at the deadline.

Plus if we didn’t have that pick with the protections Cuban wouldn’t have tanked on this one game bc the difference btwn 10 and say 11 or 12 or 14 is not that great. He only did this bc we would get the pick if it was 11 and not 10. That seems worse than a team already not making the playoffs resting players and tanking.

Keeping a top-10 pick is worth way more than making a play-in tournament with a 0% chance of winning a championship.

Of course it is, E. That isn’t my point. He wouldn’t throw that game if we didn’t get the pick bc the difference btwn 10 and 11 or even 14 is not enough to warrant missing the play in. He only did it bc he loses the pick. Which is shitty bc he made that trade with us fair and square. It sets a precedent that is super shitty for the league. Now teams are g not going to want to trade for protected picks, etc. Like ok you tank when you suck already to try and get a top pick. But tanking so you can get out of trading a pick to another team on a trade you agreed to? Seems really sketchy.

“ Keeping a top-10 pick is worth way more than making a play-in tournament with a 0% chance of winning a championship.”

Unless it’s former #8 pick Frank Ntilikina! But I digress…

Katz says he’s non-guaranteed for next year.

That makes so much more sense.
