The Knicks I knew would have had the courtesy to lie to us.
The Knicks, not so long ago, would have the plan all laid out by the time the news broke, cap figures and trade packages and marching orders ready to fly.
Not a word of it would have been true, at least in the sense that’s realistic in…

David Fizdale claimed he was too busy watching film to hear about Anthony Davis’ request for a trade, and then quickly fell into the robotic company line Knicks fans have been hearing ad nauseum for years.
The Knicks aren’t outwardly interested in one of the top-five players in the league, who…

Anthony Davis wants to be traded to a championship-contending team and the Lakers with LeBron James stand out as the likeliest option given that both Davis and James are represented by agent Rich Paul. An unsung guard who could be mistaken for a barista is the epitome of an unsung, surging team that player by player has made Brooklyn its home on and off the court.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Frank Ntilikina had finally gotten his chance to start at point guard. And it’s been lost for now. Ntilikina’s groin injury suffered in the first half Sunday against Miami could shelve him for as much as two weeks, according to coach David Fizdale. With starter Emmanuel Mudiay out two to three weeks…

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The last time the Knicks were here, they pulled out an overtime thriller. That was last month but seems like last century. The Knicks have won just one game since. After going toe-to-toe with the Hornets for three quarters, using G-Leaguer Kadeem Allen for 18 minutes, the Knicks performed their ritual fourth-quarter…

If it were only this simple, the answer would be an easy one. You trade Kristaps Porzingis for Anthony Davis. In a minute. In a second. Today. Yesterday, if that’s possible. Unicorn for Unibrow? Yes. You pull the trigger on that one if you are the Knicks. Anthony Davis is one of the five best…

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Knicks struck out on landing Kyrie Irving and Kawhi Leonard and sat out the recent Jimmy Butler sweepstakes. They won’t sit out this Anthony Davis derby, according to a source. “They are going to look at it,” an NBA source familiar with the Knicks’ thinking said. The source said the Knicks…

There are three Duke freshmen, including Zion Williamson, who could be top-five picks in the NBA draft. But perhaps the Knicks might be better off picking a top prospect from a mid-major school.

I know in the offseason, Boston has undeniably good assets to offer the Pels for AD- if they let Kyrie go. But right now, shouldn’t a package of Kanter, THJ and this year’s 1st get it done? They would get an expiring, a young secondary scorer, and a top 4 pick that may very well be Zion.
Lol nah
If I trade AD, I’m asking for multiple 1st rounders and KP. Pelicans are under no obligation to trade Davis. They still have an off season to grab a free agent that changes AD’s mind.
Curious Jowles…. if you re-did last year’s draft, where would MRobinson go?
If NO HAS to move AD and he wants to come here, isn’t MRobinson and this year’s #1 better than any pu-pu plater that LA can possibly offer? M. Rob is also controlled for 4 years at the minimum and is a local.
I also included Tyson Chandler’s 20 year old season for context on how amazing MR is…..

This is one of those rare cases where hometown-rookie hype matches the production. Robinson, despite his inability to discern a blocked shot from a goaltend, is easily one of the best players of the 2018 Draft and has nowhere to go but up. He is our Jarrett Allen, and that is a huge compliment.
On my board, he’d be a top-5 pick largely because he’s been productive in these limited minutes and we get to watch him every night. Recency, proximity, endowment… there are lots of biases at play when we start talking about what our players are worth on the market.
So that doesn’t mean he’d be a top-5 pick if all 30 teams were allowed to re-draft. I don’t think he’s more than a blip on the radar for most teams. There are about 400 NBA players to track and I don’t think he’s played enough to warrant a high lottery pick from most teams. They’d still “play it safe” with a guy who’s all upside and intrigue and that nonsense.
That said, there’s no way New Orleans is about to trade a perennial MVP candidate and All-NBA 1st Teamer for a 14% shot at Zion and a rookie who’s played >30 minutes just once in his career. I’m as bullish as anyone, but as totes showed above, there’s a real tendency to be delusional about the value of our assets.
I bet there are some coaches who’d love to steal Robinson away from us, but no one in their right mind would look at him and see him as a viable trade centerpiece for Davis. I think that he’s a much better haul than, say, Brandon Ingram, but we’re talking about perception, not production. (At least with Ingram, we have multiple seasons of underachieving to inform us. Robinson is a JaVale McGee-sized black box right now.)
