He slowed down but 43 on 25 is pretty decent
Kanter’s going to demand a trade and then get really depressed when he finds out
Kanter is going to get depressed when his next contract is in the same range as O’Quinn’s and he’s still overpaid.
Mudiay is no longer the worst PG in the NBA (baby steps).
Frank’s shoulders must have some kind of problem. He’s wrapped up pretty good on both sides. Maybe he belongs on the wing. Who the hell knows?
This team IS going to win games as soon as KP is back and close to 100% because all the major lineup problems will magically vanish.
I didn’t miss Hezonja.
Mario is awful at basketball and does not deserve meaningful minutes. I’m truly amazed at how terrible he is. I’d like them to cut him and bring up another big from Westchester.
Hooray for Burke and Mudiay! Both played really well tonight. Damn, I wish Trey was at least 6’3″.
Mitch is a helluva find.
Knox is going to be alright. I have hope that by the end of this season, this kid will have us excited for his sophomore year. His jumper looks so smooth and pure at times.
It’s not going to happen, but if the Knicks added a Kyrie Irving caliber PG and Porzingis to this team next year, they would win a lot of games.
Dotson’s shooting has taken a step backwards. I’m not sure why but he doesn’t look as smooth. He’s still productive enough to deserve time because he defends.
It was nice to see the old Burke.
I’m not sure what to expect from Knox going forward, but he has looked a little better in each of the last 3 games. Maybe he’s rounding into form after the injury.
A basketball game is kind of like a turf route race in horse racing. The players/horses don’t do their best until the last quarter. That’s why the Knicks keep losing leads.
“If Enes Kanter demands a trade, does it make a sound?” is my new favorite koan.
As strange as it is to say, Fix probably should have stuck with Mudiay over Burke given how much better Mudiay is defensively. He’s actually been a plus defensively this year- he still screws up the occasional pnr but he’s averaging close to 2 steals and a block per 36 and doing a solid job contesting and on the boards. Looks like a totally different player on that side of the ball. Of course he still sucks offensively but he looks like he has a chance to stick in the NBA as a decent backup which seemed almost impossible last year. And at 22 it’s still possible he could be become a decent starter. It’s also possible (and maybe more likely) that he reverts back to previous year’s model and is playing in China or Europe next year.
Cosign, this game was super fucking fun until the last 6. I know Burke was killing it but Mudiay was giving us movement, should have put him back in when Burke didn’t rouse us. But man, Davis is a fucking joy to watch. Even when he’s killing us.
Nobody is talking about him because Grizzlies, but JJJ had a monster game tonight, 27 points and looking great. This draft class is going to be something else.
I’d like to see a list of pg who for whatever reason looked like scrubs for 3-4 years and turned out solid. I’m not saying Mudiay has turned a corner, I’m just saying it’s not not possible. He’s looked a lot better this year.
@ Grocer
Chauncey Billups for one.
Billups took time to reach his full potential, but his first 4 seasons were a whole lot better than Mudiay’s. Billups and Nash has pretty comparable first 4 years. (The only guy that comes to mind that was as bad as Mudiay for 4 years and turned out to be salvageable is the guy he shared the PG duties with today).
Billuops, okay. What about guys like Kemba Walker, who looks solid now but looked like a bad chucker a couple seasons ago. Or burke, who turned nothing into solid back up.
And Burke, yeah. I’m saying I am open to be convinced that Mudiay could turn a corner. Has he looked more comfortable than he does now with anyone else?
I can see that, he’s an amazing prospect.
@Donnie Walsh
Just finding other players who lasted 3 years in the league after performing as badly as Mudiay is a real challenge. ANd then to find among that tiny group players who turned into solid contributors? I mean, you could argue Mudiay’s first three years were worse than Anthony Bennett’s.
The steals of the draft is looking like Mitch and trier ‘
Have you seen what Gary Clark has been doing for Houston (also undrafted and also on a two-way contract), as well? This has been an insane draft class.
Sat AM hypothetical: If we got the #1 pick this summer but Anthony Davis demanded a trade…
Would you give up Zion for AD?
I’m all in on Zion but i wouldn’t hesitate to make that trade.
Sure, I’d do that trade. Then I guess you, what, trade KP? KP and Davis seem like a waste of resources.
I’m just wondering if there’s basically anything you shouldn’t give up for AD. Draft rights to Zion is the most valuable trade asset I can think of.
Those 41 point quarters will kill you every time…
Zion, Zion, Zion…
What if we could get someone to take TH2 and/or Courtney? Man, a shit out of luck NY fan can dream…
Kanter can stay. He’s an awesome tank commander and coming off the books. We need enough for two max. Then a couple of players can talk to each other. See KP healthy, the #1 pick, NYC pizza…
GSW and BOS both underperform in the playoffs then KD, Kyrie, Zion come on down…
I’ve been posting here since 2006 or so and I deserve some happiness already. I mean, you’d think something would go our way one of these years…
