Mitch Mitch? Zo Zo? What’s our pointless superstitious chant this year?
if you guys seriously can’t come up with knox knox you’re hopeless
When Knox is playing again, I’m down with it becoming the official one.
I’m really curious to see what’s gonna happen to the rotation when Knox is back in the mix. My guess is that Mario isn’t gonna see any minutes, and Vonleh is going to see his minutes cut back.
hmmm, some decent off season moves by the front office could make that a bit of an issue…
still way to early to tell, but, not sure many of us saw a starting line up of frank, th2, dotson, vonleh, robinson happening when we were all guessing they’d win 25 to 30 games…
dallas was favored by 11, the wiz are a plus 7…
at this point us versus washington seems like a pick em…
Yes, with KK back Mario could disappear, I hope Vonleh’ll get his minutes at Thomas’ expense.
Giannis’s obliterating the Kings, a triple double in 3 quarters.
We’re better lose tonight or with Chicago and Atlanta coming, we’re at risk to win too many games…
Interesting feeling to shoot milk from your nose and vomit in disgust at the same time
Nobody is gonna remember SGA when TH2 and Kevin Knox get traded for our 3rd max player to go with KD and KP.
Wally’s eyebrows are like small fur rugs.
Take the shot Frank.
Robinson is a freak.
Great board by Dotson, awful shot by Dotson
This is some fugly NBA action
In Brazil we have the perfect word to describe this game, “pelada”, a slang for unorganized soccer played by kids on the streets.
This has been unwatchable.
This was the ugliest first quarter I’ve seen in a minute
I have very few complaints about Fizdale but I would like to know his thought process regarding this lineup…
Definitely been a brickfest mixed with sloppy play offensively.
6-25. Tank Tank looking like the leader in the clubhouse right now.
Enes Kanter somehow helps and hinders the tank.
Frank has been awful tonight
MORE MITCH LOBS
The Frank-Robinson connection is real
Also Dotson has been pretty solid tonight even if most everyone else has played like crap
Yeah I was gonna say that Dot has been legit so far.
Also, if Frank and Robinson continue developing on-court chemistry, it can bode very, very well towards the team’s future.
I’m very down with the French Connection nickname that was batted around last year if they keep developing lob chemistry
That was a nice lob!
Tyson chandler to the Lakers ? 203 all star team in LA really coming together
Missed first half but that alley pop to Mitch Rob was nasty.
Yo Robinson is an NBA player
Mudiay can’t get them into their offense
It’s tough to come back on the road. Wizards are a team that is better than their record. The Knicks need a spark or this game can get out of hand quickly.
Mudiay is so bad.
Trier not taking shit from Wall is pretty great to see
There’s something about John Wall that is so hateable.
It is clear
Is without fear.
Trier’s gotta chill just a lil. Guys are gonna start coming after him on both ends and he’s gotta learn composure in that regard.
Nice D on Wall tho.
Yo, Trier is kind of nasty.
His ceiling could be amazing to behold.
Trier has some real offensive moves. He’d be a playground legend if he weren’t in the NBA. I don’t see him filling up the box score but he stays in front of his man and can really get to the rack.
Trier is fun to watch. Just flat out fun.
He could be a special 1 on 1 scorer. You need that sometimes.
Trier’s gifts are quite something to see in action.
How did this kid not get drafted?
Why tf has Mudiay played 18 minutes so far. . .
Frank is in foul trouble and Hardaway has been hurt.
I’d still rather just ride Burke/Trier and even Ron Baker before giving Mudiay that many minutes.
I thought Kanter had some sort of midrange J…
That move by Wall was everything you need to know about Enes’ defense.
Well how about that…
Too many bricks from 3 tho.
Huh. I get the reasoning behind calling it but not really a fan of that call in general. Think it should be subjective based on perceived intention.
@53 i agree. Does seem like a cheap way to award FTs
This game will give good teaching moments for Fiz in the team’s next film session.
They’re whithering on D. Ice cold on O
Brick upon brick
Frank is cold from downtown.
If Frank is ever going to be a net positive on offense those threes are going to have to fall
Looks to me the Wiz as hell-bent right now on not letting Trier drive.
It’s hard to watch but this is basically how we want it to go, right? We saw some flashes from a couple younger guys, were reasonably competitive, and now the other team is putting their foot down to cement the L. Would have been nice to see more production from guys not named Trier, Dotson or Robinson, though.
Lotsssss of fouling now.
When we tied it I was really worried,
thank god Frank bricked a small house and everything’s fine.
Good action of the week: we saved Brooks’ job.
No I’d rather stay close. Hanging around is fun. I don’t mind losses but wtf is this shit last five minutes
Robinson displays a bit of the mid-90s Knicks fire we all know and love. Unfortunately, that kind of play gets you two techs and/or a suspension in today’s NBA. He’s got to learn to control himself.
Oh I didn’t mean to imply this has been fun to watch, just that the result isn’t that far off from what we want. Obviously I would prefer to have a more competitive game where we fall a few points short.
trier seems pretty similiar to donovan mitchell…raw offensive aggression…
Who was it that said Giannis needed an outside shot to be effective? How about, uh, haha, nah?
Tonight was an eyesore. Ugly basketball by both teams for the most part.
I do like Frank as a rotation player. However, when this team is ready to become a serious contender, we will need a serious upgrade at the pg position. Frank is NOT the answer.
If Timmy is hurt, this team is about to lose a lot of games. Well, they were going to lose a lot of games anyway, but the entertaining basketball we’ve been enjoying could be in serious jeopardy.
There’s going to be a lot of competition for a bottom-3 slot this year, but I believe in our Knicks.
I just don’t see it. They are too competitive for bottom three, I think. They’re going to need lottery luck. They’re due, though!
Missed most of the game because I was busy puking and shivering after running (more like participating in) the NYC Marathon. Just missed my goal of breaking 6:00:00 at 60 years old, but it’s all good. NYC is the greatest place in the world, especially when it tries to be.
Congrats on the race, Z-Man!
Looking at the box score, nothing really stood out positively. Maybe Hezonja’s 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals, and Kanter’s typical bench double-double. Trier may have had some good moves, but he had 9 points on 8 shots, 2 rebs and 3 TOs. Mitch seemed to have a pretty good but not great game, nice to see him go 4-4 from the line after bricking a few in preseason. Dotson was what we have come to expect, strong rebounding and promising but spotty shooting.
On the bad side, TH2 with the 2-10 triple-single, Vonleh with 4 fouls in 10 minutes, our PGs combining for 1-9 from 3 and 10 assists vs. 9 turnovers. Overall, 5-27 from 3 isn’t gonna do it.
I think we will tend to struggle vs. teams with seasoned, explosive guards. And most other teams.
I think they are too competitive too, but look at the other bad teams. The Magic just beat San Antonio, Brooklyn destroyed the Sixers, the Hawks are looking competitive and the Bulls will have Markkanen and a bunch of other players returning from injury. The Cavs are an absolute train wreck and will be great competition, but in the west both Dallas and Phoenix are not willing to tank. I don’t know, it’s too early to tell, but I don’t think there’s a zero chance the Knicks are a bottom 3 team with some bad luck here and there.
By the way, I checked the box score for Raptors and Lakers and I thought the CBS app had bugged, 42 to 15?????? Ibaka is 8/8 for 20 points in the first?????
For an analytics-driven blog, it’s remarkable how we can be so fickle and prone to overreact to the latest sample in front of us. After the Mavs game, everyone was practically floating. After this one, we’re back to lamenting that we stink, only not enough to get a shot at this year’s Big Four.
(I’m the same way, FWIW. Not judging. Just saying it’s funny.)
Man, remember when Derrick Rose had that one good game in December of 2016? And then reub and er spent the next day posting old comments from people who were negative about the Rose trade to mock them for being so wrong about the trade?
So, yeah, it is funny how people react from game to game. 🙂
Plus Kawhi isn’t playing (and Ibaka is now 11-11)
I don’t get why the consensus is that the Lakers make the playoffs. Seems like they’re a .500 team at best, and that won’t get it done in the West.
Great night for the tank. Suns, Magic, and Nets all beat superior teams.
Brian, I like what we’re seeing, but this time of year is notorious for shitty teams getting unexpected wins. And so far, we’ve beaten two terrible teams (Nets, ATL) and a probable lottery team with two kids starting (DAL). Sure, we’ve made some games close for a while, but in several of those, their star vets took over when it counted. It’s too early to tell whether we actually put something together or whether these close games are just fool’s gold.
I think we saw today how dependent we are on Timmy, which is not a formula for winning, since most teams have someone (or several players) better than him.
Thanks, Brian and Owen, feeling better now, man, it sux getting old!
That player is arguably KP, but certainly at the moment he is it. Unless Kanter can defend and we get really good production out of Burke and Trier.
Hey, it could be worse. You could be Lebron down 20 at the half to the Raps playing without Kawhi.
He should ask out with the puke shivers!
Or he could lead a comeback, lotta game left!
Would be just like Lebron to salvage this game….
I don’t think LeCoast pulls this off, but weirder things have happened. At least we get to marvel at Serge Ibaka’s (?) greatness.
Uh oh just as I said that Ibaka missed and LeBron hits two threes…….
His advanced stats going into this game were pedestrian, but that will change in a big way tomorrow..
Good job, Z-Man!
I ran the New York Marathon exactly 20 years ago. I pulled myself together afterward and crawled down to MSG that night, not for the Knicks, but to see Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell play a rare double bill. Good memories.
wow, that’s a pretty amazing day…
congrats z-man…keep on truckin 🙂
