When Knox is playing again, I’m down with it becoming the official one.
I’m really curious to see what’s gonna happen to the rotation when Knox is back in the mix. My guess is that Mario isn’t gonna see any minutes, and Vonleh is going to see his minutes cut back.

Trier has some real offensive moves. He’d be a playground legend if he weren’t in the NBA. I don’t see him filling up the box score but he stays in front of his man and can really get to the rack.
Trier is fun to watch. Just flat out fun.

Looks to me the Wiz as hell-bent right now on not letting Trier drive.
It’s hard to watch but this is basically how we want it to go, right? We saw some flashes from a couple younger guys, were reasonably competitive, and now the other team is putting their foot down to cement the L. Would have been nice to see more production from guys not named Trier, Dotson or Robinson, though.

Robinson displays a bit of the mid-90s Knicks fire we all know and love. Unfortunately, that kind of play gets you two techs and/or a suspension in today’s NBA. He’s got to learn to control himself.
Oh I didn’t mean to imply this has been fun to watch, just that the result isn’t that far off from what we want. Obviously I would prefer to have a more competitive game where we fall a few points short.

Tonight was an eyesore. Ugly basketball by both teams for the most part.
I do like Frank as a rotation player. However, when this team is ready to become a serious contender, we will need a serious upgrade at the pg position. Frank is NOT the answer.
If Timmy is hurt, this team is about to lose a lot of games. Well, they were going to lose a lot of games anyway, but the entertaining basketball we’ve been enjoying could be in serious jeopardy.
There’s going to be a lot of competition for a bottom-3 slot this year, but I believe in our Knicks.
I just don’t see it. They are too competitive for bottom three, I think. They’re going to need lottery luck. They’re due, though!
Missed most of the game because I was busy puking and shivering after running (more like participating in) the NYC Marathon. Just missed my goal of breaking 6:00:00 at 60 years old, but it’s all good. NYC is the greatest place in the world, especially when it tries to be.

Looking at the box score, nothing really stood out positively. Maybe Hezonja’s 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals, and Kanter’s typical bench double-double. Trier may have had some good moves, but he had 9 points on 8 shots, 2 rebs and 3 TOs. Mitch seemed to have a pretty good but not great game, nice to see him go 4-4 from the line after bricking a few in preseason. Dotson was what we have come to expect, strong rebounding and promising but spotty shooting.
On the bad side, TH2 with the 2-10 triple-single, Vonleh with 4 fouls in 10 minutes, our PGs combining for 1-9 from 3 and 10 assists vs. 9 turnovers. Overall, 5-27 from 3 isn’t gonna do it.
I think we will tend to struggle vs. teams with seasoned, explosive guards. And most other teams.

I think they are too competitive too, but look at the other bad teams. The Magic just beat San Antonio, Brooklyn destroyed the Sixers, the Hawks are looking competitive and the Bulls will have Markkanen and a bunch of other players returning from injury. The Cavs are an absolute train wreck and will be great competition, but in the west both Dallas and Phoenix are not willing to tank. I don’t know, it’s too early to tell, but I don’t think there’s a zero chance the Knicks are a bottom 3 team with some bad luck here and there.
By the way, I checked the box score for Raptors and Lakers and I thought the CBS app had bugged, 42 to 15?????? Ibaka is 8/8 for 20 points in the first?????
For an analytics-driven blog, it’s remarkable how we can be so fickle and prone to overreact to the latest sample in front of us. After the Mavs game, everyone was practically floating. After this one, we’re back to lamenting that we stink, only not enough to get a shot at this year’s Big Four.

I don’t get why the consensus is that the Lakers make the playoffs. Seems like they’re a .500 team at best, and that won’t get it done in the West.

Brian, I like what we’re seeing, but this time of year is notorious for shitty teams getting unexpected wins. And so far, we’ve beaten two terrible teams (Nets, ATL) and a probable lottery team with two kids starting (DAL). Sure, we’ve made some games close for a while, but in several of those, their star vets took over when it counted. It’s too early to tell whether we actually put something together or whether these close games are just fool’s gold.
I think we saw today how dependent we are on Timmy, which is not a formula for winning, since most teams have someone (or several players) better than him.

That player is arguably KP, but certainly at the moment he is it. Unless Kanter can defend and we get really good production out of Burke and Trier.

I ran the New York Marathon exactly 20 years ago. I pulled myself together afterward and crawled down to MSG that night, not for the Knicks, but to see Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell play a rare double bill. Good memories.
