Melo said he wouldn’t trade his Olympic gold medals for an NBA title.

I call bullshit on that one.

Team composition is best suited to maximize Durant’s strengths while
    minimizing his weaknesses.

A better emphasis on pick-and-pop guards with interior movement would bring much more value to Carmelo’s game.

Only time will tell who is the better player, granted that synergy will only play to one’s strengths as a scorer.

The only things I don’t love about Durant’s game is:
    1. He doesn’t seem to be aggressive often enough for a player of his considerable talent. He does deserve to be lauded for trying to play the “right way” more than he goes for his though.
    2. His handle. Not that he can’t handle the rock..he’s just too long and it looks..awkward lol. He’s all “Freddy Krueger stretching his arms in the side alley” limbs when he takes people off the dribble.

Definitely nothing to complain about. I’m only 39, so the best scorers I’ve seen without mentioning Jordan are KD, Melo, AI, ‘Nique, and Bernard King. That’s a pretty damn good class to be mentioned in. Each player has/had their warts, but damn I enjoy watching them- especially KD because he can kill you from anywhere on the court. Melo can as well, but he doesn’t have the range KD has. What he’s doing vs Serbia today is fun to watch.

dmar, who gives a shit? The guy is on TV in tears talking about representing America. You can say what you want about his stats, his paycheck, his no trade, whatever. But he’s trying to represent his country, when plenty of guys decided not to go.

They get a lot worse than Carmelo Anthony when it comes to human beings who play professional sports.

I actually like Melo, and I think he done a good job speaking out about race relations and such. All I’m saying is he would definitely trade all the gold medals in the world for 1 NBA title, despite what he said.

I disagree. The three gold medals as well as being the national team’s leading scorer and rebounder arguably makes him the greatest Olympian ever. One thing about Carmelo Anthony is that he is basically Paul Pierce with business savvy. Paul Pierce has his ring but his brand isn’t half the size of Melo’s. Melo may never win a championship (I’m hoping 2018 is that year when CP3 comes over, Noah is still great, and KP is a legit superstar), but his career has been excellent. He’s a legend on the high school, college, NBA, and international levels. The three gold medals are the biggest thing there. None of his contemporaries or anyone else in the world can say they have 3 gold medals for basketball. KD has that shot in 2020 but I think he passes on it.

And technically he still has a shot to win a championship. That’s important.
