      this made me smile:

“I try to be nice to them, [but] usually people have negative things to say. … They like to jump out, shout something horrible and run away. That happens all the time. Even at dinner. It’s not fun.”

man, i would love to catch guitar jimmy with a mouth full of some steak and holler – I HOPE YOU CHOKE ON IT BITCH!!!

the nba league pass free preview thing is still going on..

looking forward to watching michael olowokandi, i mean, deandre ayton in inaction…

Does Fiz have to play THJ so many minutes? He’s averaging 35 mpg this month. There are three other guys that play his position (four if you count Frank) who could really use some of those minutes. And it’s not like THJ is actually earning all that playing time. He’s been bad. Hopefully Fiz dials him down to 25-30 mpg soon.

Ayton is already light years better than Olowokandi ever was and it’s pretty clear that if Phoenix ever gets a point guard he’ll be a monster on the offensive end. He should wind up being Kanter with the ability to dive on the pnr. And hopefully for Phoenix he’ll be at least a little better than Kanter defensively though the jury is still out on that one.

One last thing on Mudiay- his 4th quarter TS is 65.5%!! And he has a +10 net rating in the 4th as well. Whatever else you want to say about him you have to admit he has been very, very good down the stretch in the few close close games we’ve had. Of course I hope that saying this jinxes him and Booker goes crazy and leads Phoenix to the victory.

NBA history says you shouldn’t bet against a huge load of at best mediocre minutes before a brief stint of semi brilliance from a player, young as he may be.

Let’s be clear, though: Mudiay has submitted a huge load of I-Don’t-Belong-In-This-League minutes before a brief stint of semi mediocrity.

yuch…jimmy d and his smug mug is on the front page of espn…

had to wash that image away with something cool from fiz:

      Ian Begley
      ESPN Staff Writer
David Fizdale says on MSG Network’s show Conference Room B that former Knick great Bernard King has helped mentor rookie Kevin Knox: “Bernard King is a fascinating man. His approach to how he developed his game and just sitting there listening him talk to Kevin Knox was really interesting. And how meticulous he went about building the player Bernard King. It was an education for me. And it was just fun to sit there and watch a legend like that interact with a 19 year old kid who has no idea what he’s getting into.” Fizdale’s interview on Conference Room B airs after Monday’s Knicks-Suns game.

      How many minutes?

“Did you see the 4th Quarter! Mudiay was fantastic! He scored 12 points in 5 shots, dished out 4 assists. He was great in the 4th Quarter!”

      – A Normal person

      “Small sample size bro.”

      – Jowles

    9. Mike Honcho

That was a nice sequence there with the offensive boards from Knox. It was a lot more encouraging than the similar sequence a few games back where he just kept missing horribly.

    10. Bruno Almeida

If Ayton starts caring about defense he’ll be a mega superstar. He pretty much has everything else already.

At least by playing Burke maybe the front office realizes a guy randomly shooting 50+% on mid range jumpers is not sustainable and will refrain from offering Mudiay a deal.

I don’t think we can lose to the Suns, so let’s hope it’s a good game at least.

    11. Owen

Yeah, that was an excellent offensive quarter from Knox. Playing the Suns is a little like going 3 on 3 I guess

    12. d-mar

Frank has to learn that every once in a while you rise and fire from 3 point range, you don’t have to be wide open.

      Just ask Timmy.

    13. Stratomatic "I'm tired of the Knicks paying lip service to DEFENSE. Get defenders & two-way players. Then play them!

Knox clearly has talent on offense, but he still reminds me of one of those guys that’s going to get his own shot in so many ways he’ll have a tough time figuring out which are the good one. We don’t need another guy that can get 20-25 a night on average efficiency unless he a plus defender. Right now, he’s definitely not plus defender. At least he’s rebounding a bit better than we feared. He’s going to get a LOT stronger.

    14. Stratomatic "I'm tired of the Knicks paying lip service to DEFENSE. Get defenders & two-way players. Then play them!

Mudiay and Burke are not complicated.

      1. The Knicks need a long term starting PG. We don’t know yet if Frank is that player.

      2. Even IF Frank winds up being the long term starting PG, the Knicks will need a backup PG. Even if they never give out another bad contract for the rest of the history of the franchise, they will still need and pay for a backup PG.

      3. Both Burke and Mudiay are candidates for backup PGs on an NBA team.

      4. Given Mudiay’s age and the lack of early development (no college ball and hurt while overseas), he basically started in the same place as Robinson coming into the pros. He was clueless. As a PG, that was a disaster. That says nothing about where he’s going to wind up as a player, but if you look at 1000 players with stats like his, he’s got a better chance to continue improving than the average guy his age.

      5. You watch the games, accumulate more information, see what the market is, and make a decision on whether one or the other can or should be part of the team.

    15. d-mar

So many of Mudiay’s 3 point shots look like buzzer beating heaves. It’s shocking to me when they go in.

    16. The Glass Half Rebuilt

I really don’t mind Lee and Thomas getting some playing time, but I’ve grown pretty allergic to anything Enes Kanter does. We’d be better off cutting him and rolling with Kornet, Robinson, and Vonleh at the pivot.

    17. bobneptune

Saw Green Book this weekend, loved it!

Viggo’s best work since A History of Violence w/ Maria Bello

    18. bobneptune

      If Trier was a 4th year 22yo we’d be cursing how he’s a one-dimensional chucker.

      A 23 yr old one dimensional chucker @3M/yr >>>>> a 27 yr old one dimensional chucker @ 19M/yr :-)

    19. Stratomatic "I'm tired of the Knicks paying lip service to DEFENSE. Get defenders & two-way players. Then play them!

I never liked Kanter’s game, but his high energy moments occasionally make me think I’m wrong. Then reality strikes again. He’s so horrible defensively he’s unplayable most of the time, especially since we don’t have many good defenders to limit the damage he does. He’s also delusional. He thinks he’s an all-star. So you can’t even reduce his minutes without it causing minor problems. I have no clue what the right move is with this guy, just so long as he’s not back.

    20. Bruno Almeida

The only difference is that Mudiay actually played and was terrible in those 3 years so it becomes a track record that has to be taken into consideration and he’s doing it now with those 3 years of experience in the NBA. Trier didn’t have 3 years training and playing in the NBA.

I can’t believe you guys are actually talking yourselves into this shit.

    21. Stratomatic "I'm tired of the Knicks paying lip service to DEFENSE. Get defenders & two-way players. Then play them!

The Knicks are so bad defensively if Fizdale or management even mention it as a focus going forward someone should smack them and point out you actually have to acquire and play the players that enjoy and are good at defense first.

    22. The Glass Half Rebuilt

Great tank job in the 3rd quarter. Anybody else seee Kanter sulk when he got pulled out of the game?

    23. Mike Honcho

This would bring Phoenix to three wins in a row and their next four games are Boston, Washington, Brooklyn and Orlando. It’s very possible the Suns (who really seem like they’re about to win their third in a row tonight) fuck up their tank by going 3-1 over those games and losing the pole position in the Tankathon.

    24. Mike Honcho

Wally’s an idiot. “It’s a make or miss league.” Real insightful shit there – I’d never considered that basketball teams might do well to try to actually make their shots until Wally helpfully pointed it out.

    25. Mike Honcho

It might be embarrassing to lose to the Suns, but at the bottom of this season’s Reichenbach Falls lies a single lottery scratch-off with a pretty bad shot at getting us to the promised land of Zion.

    26. Stratomatic "I'm tired of the Knicks paying lip service to DEFENSE. Get defenders & two-way players. Then play them!

      Bring back Ron Baker

Best defender on the team. He had to go.

    27. Stratomatic "I'm tired of the Knicks paying lip service to DEFENSE. Get defenders & two-way players. Then play them!

Watching us play defense makes me long for the days of Eddy Curry.

    28. Stratomatic "I'm tired of the Knicks paying lip service to DEFENSE. Get defenders & two-way players. Then play them!

Clyde, “You don’t see any Knicks in the zip code”.

    29. Owen

Frank hasn’t worked his magic on Booker.

Wally is a doofus but he’s a doofus with a career 57.3 ts%. I’d really hate him otherwise.

    30. Bruno Almeida

Booker heard us talking about him the other day and decided to wreck us. I’m happy about it.

Dragan Bender sighting! That’s a rare one!

    31. Bruno Almeida

Jamal Crawford has 14 assists, that’s gotta be the most embarrassing part of this loss.

Like come on, if we can get clowned by the fucking Suns at home we have to be able to get a top 3 lottery pick right?

    32. Stratomatic "I'm tired of the Knicks paying lip service to DEFENSE. Get defenders & two-way players. Then play them!

This is not the first time the Knicks have come up totally empty on a back to back. I’m not sure why a young team would have more trouble on a back to back than the average team (especially coming home). It could just be noise, but it might not be.

    33. Z-man

One guy that got lost in the shuffle is Josh Jackson…I thought he looked pretty damn good out there. His stroke looks improved.

    34. Stratomatic "I'm tired of the Knicks paying lip service to DEFENSE. Get defenders & two-way players. Then play them!

      Last thought of the night.

Vonleh looked a little gassed to me. His play may start dipping a little. His high energy style may have a minutes limit.

    35. d-mar

I know we’re supposed to be happy to lose, but that was actually kind of depressing watching our young guys get their asses kicked all over the Garden floor

    36. nicos

Unfortunately Vonleh seems to be regressing- if Mudiay joins him the Knicks are going to have a solid shot at the worst record in the league.

    37. The Glass Half Rebuilt

The Suns are a more talented team than us. Booker and Ayton got a little help (from our defense mainly) tonight and suddenly they don’t look like the worst team in basketball.

PHX has to feel dumb for taking Josh Jackson over DeAaron Fox, especially after they took Bender over Jamal Murray the year before. Both of those guys would be a massive upgrade over what PHX currently has. Maybe they begin to play their way out of the top lottery odds and draft Morant.

    38. Owen

I wish Franks defense had showed up a bit more. Booker was a little lucky. He also gets a great whistle to use a phrase Ruru taught me. Hardenesque ability to draw cheap fouls.

    39. The Glass Half Rebuilt

Vonleh is in a scoring slump but still had 7 rebounds and a steal in 17 minutes. I’m not worried about him just yet.

    40. nicos

The only positive was Lee shooting 5-8. A few more of those and maybe someone getting injured on a contender and we might only have to give up a second rounder to move him. Mudiay playing well against Phoenix only increases the likelihood that they throw a stupid offer at him which we will probably more stupidly beat after renouncing him and whiffing on a max guy.

I wish Franks defense had showed up a bit more.

I’m guessing Frank isn’t leading the league in pnr defense this year.

    41. alsep73

I know we’re supposed to be happy to lose, but that was actually kind of depressing watching our young guys get their asses kicked all over the Garden floor

I wish we could’ve lost on a night when Frank and Kevin both played well. But they’ve had other nights where they’ve looked good against better teams than this. So just enjoy the crucial taking victory, and worry about the rest on a different night.
