    1. Shumpert talks about working on dribbling and playmaking.

      Shumpert gets hurt.

      Sun rises in East.

I am glad we’re not the ones paying for this again

    2. I read somewhere that most season forecasts for sports teams are not very different from assuming a team will play about as well as it did the year before, and not much more accurate than that assumption either. I interpret that to mean that most “experts” have a very hard time predicting significant changes in a team’s performance from one season to the next. I think it’s a real crap shoot for any of us to predict this season accurately. And given the prediliction of forecasters to predict the same as last year, 31 wins is actually a quite positive forecast by that standard.

    3. Likewise, but I wouldn’t feel very confident about it

No doubt. That’s what gambling is good at, making your betting decision nearly a 50/50 proposition. Then again, 31.5 wins is awfully low, so I don’t know if I’d even put this at a 50/50 proposition. I think the Knicks have got to have a 60% chance of beating that number.

    4. Westgate Superbook has us at 31.5

Well, last year they predicted 40.5 wins for us, so by my calculations that means 8 wins for us this year.

Agreed that I’m glad we’re not paying for it., but I’d just add that I feel really bad for Shump. There’s nothing more frustrating than dealing with injuries, and with Shump it feels like every time he takes a step forward in his career, the injuries cause two steps back. He’s finally getting a chance to fill the role he’s a natural for on a good team (i.e. defensive stopper with 0 offensive responsibilities besides catch and shoot), so of course he can’t stay healthy. Hope he makes a clean recovery, b/c wrist injuries can really mess with your shot, and he’s not exactly the most consistent jump shooter to begin with.

    6. Re: Rose — I love his defense to rape allegations. “Two other guys and I had a consensual orgy and she’s claiming that I raped her because she’s mad that I refused to pay for the sex toys.” Great.

    7. Ha, Derrick Rose is hurt again.

Dude can’t take a break…….wait……no…….maybe he can take a break, which is his problem……….he’s just unlucky.

    8. By the way — Rose is married and he’s a Christian who wears a wristband while he plays that says, “In Jesus name I play.” Makes his defense even more impressive.

    9. My favorite quote from today:

Anthony admitted it was challenging going against Porzingis in their 1-on-1 skirmishes.
“He’s 7-3, man,’’ Anthony said. “I was fouling the [beep] out of him. He’s 7-3, legit. He did [block me] a couple of times, of course. He’s 7-3. He’s going to block something.’’

All aboard the KP Express! First stop: ROYville!

    10. Rose is essentially JR at the point. So glad I don’t have to consider rooting for him. Don’t be shocked if Chicago implodes this year, thanks to that a-hole.

    11. By the way — Rose is married and he’s a Christian who wears a wristband while he plays that says, “In Jesus name I play.” Makes his defense even more impressive.

I have less of a problem with this kind of hypocrisy than most people.

There is a difference between understanding what you are taught about morality when you are Christian and actually living up to those standards. For the average person bombarded with sex 24 hours a day on TV, in music, and on the streets, the drive can become so intense it’s difficult to stick with your own beliefs about appropriate behavior. For young rich athletes on the road that have young attractive women throwing themselves at them regularly it’s probably close to impossible to be restrained.

I’m Christian and a generally good person. I’d probably be doing threesomes with two women at halftime if I was Derrick Rose. I would do it despite understanding that what I was doing was way out of line given my faith. I guess I’d be counting on my suffering with the Knicks to offset some of my sins. :-)

None of which is to excuse fooling around on your wife. There is no excuse for that EVER EVER. It’s just that these guys should probably not get married until they are much older and none of this surprises me no matter what they claim about their faith. Pu$$y is undefeated.

    12. @1
Have to agree. Shump seems like a good guy but is the ultimate tease and I’m glad the Knicks aren’t paying 8-10 mill per for him (whatever overpaid amount he’s making). Only regret is they should have probably traded him a year or two sooner and gotten more back. A shooting guard that can’t shoot or stay healthy is a luxury the Knicks cannot afford.

    13. Not good starts for Shump and Rose. I’ll reserve judgement on Rose being a rapist.
I think that it’s too early in camp to really predict anything, but it is the start of camp and time for early thoughts. A lot can happen before the season tip-off but some things I’m comfortable saying now.

On the plus side, the Knicks have some young players I’m interested in. KP, Grant and TA are rookies but don’t forget that neither Early nor Galloway have played a full season yet. Can there be an all-star in the group? I also think that there are a lot of solid players. Afflalo, O’Quinn, Lopez and Seraphin are going to do their jobs.

On the down side, the Knicks have to relearn the triangle. This is a new bunch of players and there’s a risk that they start horribly. They need to gel fast. And there are some gambles on the roster. Sasha Vujacic, Derrick Williams and Jose Calderon have a lot to prove. Maybe they’re hungry. Maybe they’re done. I can see a scenario where all three of them are out of the rotation by year’s end.

    14. You’d be surprised by how much it seems that the richer you get, the less likely you are to want to pay for things.

    15. The last two paragraphs of #15 have made my morning. Especially since I read them in Louis CK’s voice.

    16. So Rose claims that the perception that he is feuding with Butler is due to them being black. Okay.

How would he explain Bryce Harper and Jonathan Papelbon?

    17. Anyone want to create our FANTASY YAHOO BASKETBALL LEAGUE for us? Or should I be the one to create it (which is ok)
