2014-15 Game Thread: Knicks @ Sixers, AKA “Tankageddon 2015”

In one of the most exciting games of the new year, the Knicks and the 76ers face off in a dramatic battle to see who gets more ping pong balls in the NBA Draft Lottery this June. The Sixers made a decisive move in preparation for the battle today by holding back “sick” Nerlens Noel (Tony Wroten is also out, but I think he’s legitimately injured).

Let’s see whether Melo has a mysterious stomach flu right before tip-off.

On top of exciting, this might be one of the ugliest games of the year, but it might also be so ugly that it turns around and becomes beautiful.

Let’s go! Knicks!

Now we get to see the Knicks lose on a whole other continent!

It’s nice of the Knicks to get their losing done before dinner time here.

Melo and STAT are back to play today, so hopefully the Knicks don’t accidentally win this one.

Let’s go! Knicks!

So we have to hope that the Knicks play poorly enough to lose but also somehow persuade Marc Gasol to come play for them next season.

This game should be a laugher, so just watch this one surprise us with a tough effort.

Let me take a moment to pay my respects to longtime NBA reporter Stuart Scott, who passed away yesterday at the age of 49. All of the on-air tributes to him were quite moving.

Knicks Go? Let’s!

EDITED TO ADD: In major news, Iman Shumpert and JR Smith have been traded to Cleveland and Sam Dalembart has been waived. The details of the deal are not yet revealed. The Knicks are either getting Reggie Jackson or Dion Waiters. Please let it be Jackson!

Let’s hope that the bad times keep on rolling!

Tonight is a good time to possibly scout Brandon Knight, who would be an intriguing option as a restricted free agent, as he is an actual two-way point guard. The first two-way point guard the Knicks would have since…Charlie Ward? Yikes. It’d cost a lot to get him, but I think he can be had for $12 million a year, and if the Knicks have about $22 million in cap space (which seems to be their most likely scenario, unless they waive JR Smith or if they decide to keep Shump) then they can sign him and another good $10 million player, like Wes Matthews (Matthews might take more than $10 million to get, though).

Let’s go! Knicks?

2014-15 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Pistons

Luckily for the Knicks, the Pistons, one of their closest competitors for the worst record in the league, have suddenly begun to look like the team Detroit fans were hoping they’d be. All they needed to do, apparently, was to cut out the cancer that was Josh Smith (okay, adding Jodie Meeks was important, as well – Stan Van Gundy clearly put a lot of faith in Meeks and so far it seems like he knew what he was doing). This is good news for Detroit fans but even better news for Knicks fans, as it makes it a lot easier for the Knicks to solidify their spot as one of the two worst teams in the league, which would assure them of finishing no lower than #5 in the NBA Draft (and much more likely at least #4).

A lot of Knicks missing tonight’s game, so it’s going to be quite interesting. JR Smith is starting at the three and you can expect to see a lot of JR Smith tonight.

Let’s…something or other….Knicks!
