It’s awesome to be early in free agency, the Knicks just lost a key player and haven’t replaced him, and there’s no real urgency to talk about this stuff, as, well, come on, the rest of the East sucks, the Knicks should be fine without Mitch as far as getting to the NBA Finals.
And Leon will have the rest of the year to figure out how to fill out those center minutes by then.
Winning a title really does give you such peace. I loved Mitch, but they won a title, I can’t be too sad about anything at the moment.
I will always love Mitch and hope he has a great time starting for the 48-win Celtics in a first round exit next year. Can’t begrudge a man getting his payday.
BTW, I thought soccer had thoroughly embarrassed itself with the Balogun incident but this offsides call against Croatia really takes the cake. Awful.
Rich Paul says if we hadn’t won the title, LeBron would absolutely be coming here: https://x.com/nba_newyork/status/2073021152855834819?s=46&t=mhUnoqe17aQ9qM7P-jrKqA
They’ll be much better than that. If I’m handicapping the East right now, the Knicks are a heavy favorite, the Celtics have a puncher’s chance, the Pacers are a potential dark horse, and everyone else is mid.
I know the trade is a disaster but they’re going to be better than they were last year. Tatum is replacing Brown. George replaces Hauser. Mitch replaces Garza.
And they try really hard. They’ll probably be the 1 seed just by trying harder.
This is a very good team, with depth at C to manage Mitch all year long for maximum impact:
1 White, Conley
2 Pritchard, Scheierman
3 George, Gonzalez, Walsh
4 Tatum, Hauser
5 Robinson, Queta, Garza, Cenac

“Jalen Brunson would literally have to pick up the phone and say ‘hey man, there’s no issue with me.’”
