Knox is looking pretty good especially in this run since December. What is sort of hilarious is this:
Knox per 40 stats since December 1:
19.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.3 blocks
Knox per 40 stats in college:
19.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1 steal, 0.3 blocks
That said – he sure looks good. That take to the rim against Shamet (not exactly Kawhi Leonard) in the 1st quarter where he just overpowered him, and a few of the takes right into Embiid were pretty awesome.
At least during a tanking season there’s been so much amazing basketball to watch that it has been pretty easy to endure. Jokic had one of the most aesthetically pleasing to watch 40/10/8 games I’ve ever seen last night, it seems that every other game there’s at least one monster performance that’s ridiculously fun to watch. Curry scored 48 shooting 3 free throws also, I literally can’t remember a time in the last 20 years in the NBA with so many consistent superstars going off on a daily basis.

I haven’t even tried to understand the rule changes, but I suspect the combination of rule changes and the way the game is being played now is leading to many of these big offensive outbursts. It’s like the 90s version and the current version are two different sports based on the scores.
Kadeem Allen getting Trier’s 2-way contract is pretty interesting.
G-league stats are interesting – basically 16/6/6 and 1.8 steals per 36, 38.6% from 3 and TS of 54.4.
DX had him as one of the best perimeter defenders in the country at 6’2″ with 6’9″ wingspan – called him a Patrick Beverley type. I like it.

I’m not sure how useful monthly splits or arbitrary cutoffs are, but I do feel better about Knox than I did a 1-2 months ago. If he can get his TS% in the 51-52 range by season’s end one could reasonably argue his season was promising for a teenager.
It looks like he’ll be a plus 3PT shooter as a 4, so that alone decreases the chance that he’s the total bust I feared.
I still wouldn’t have taken him at 9 and I still think our best chance of getting value from that pick is trading him if his value is high, but that’s almost definitely not happening (we know how much this regime likes “their guys”) so whatever.
I could see Knox being our very own Aaron Gordon, and I don’t mean that in a good way.

IMHO and in the context of the current Knicks roster, I would only trade Knox for Doncic and JJJ out of this list. We already have a glut of playable and even valuable center-types, and while I really like Bam, Carter, Collins, and Allen, I’m not sure the delta there is worth trading Knox (also not taking into account the extra year of control we have with Knox as compared with Bam, Collins, and Allen). in terms of positional scarcity, it’s just a lot easier to find 6’6″ and under backcourt guys than it is 6’10” primary scorers, so while i also love SGA, that’d be a difficult one — certainly not out of the question.
Knox is pretty awful on defense as of now, and his efficiency is still sort of bad, but man, does he do a lot of things that look pretty rare for a 19 year old. He’d probably go 5th or 6th in a redraft, behind Ayton, Luca, JJJ, Bagley, and maybe SGA depending on the team.
I mean, Collins is 21 and scores 29 points per 100 on .623 TS%… and he’s 6’10”. Just sayin’.

And I would definitely take Allen over Knox, but that list is reasonable.
Jowles, I would trade Knox for Doncic. The other guys, I don’t know. I haven’t watched them enough yet to say. But its an irrelevant question bc any theoretical trade involving Knox would most likely NOT include any of those people.
Its not about inflating value of our own players. Its about believing in the process of developing our players and seeing that process through. “Selling High” is nice in theory and when its an obvious sell high situation you go for it. But when does that actually happen?
Lets say you trade Knox not for one of those players you mentioned but for another top ten pick in THIS year’s draft. What would that achieve exactly except starting us over on another player?
Allen is good, but as you know, I don’t value low-usage, non-3-pt-shooting bigs as much as you do. I’ll take my chances with Mitch turning out better than both Bam and Allen.
FWIW, Knox is a much better 3-pt shooter rignt now than than Gordon ever was, so the comparison doesn’t work for me. Tobias Harris maybe?
