    buenos dias everyone…

oh yeah, happy to report that after being kicked to the curb – i have bounced back off of it…

just had to submit to a small penance of about a 2 hour phone conversation…

always amazes me how folks can even talk that much…not to be too sexist, but I kind of wonder if that is simply some female type trait…

after a week or so in a car and hotel with ma and sis, observed that they too can do some serious talking…

one of the main gripes bestest friend to geo had (other than me never being around) was that I roped her in to a relationship…which is definitely true…

she’s already done the whole married with children thing, and is enjoying her emancipation from marriage at this stage of life…longest consistent romantic relationship i’ve ever been involved with has been about six months or so…

yeah, not so sterling a record in the whole field of hooking up and partnering up…so, it was something which I wanted to experience…

I just didn’t count on it being so damn hard to stay in a positive romantic relationship…especially when there is hundreds of miles between 2 people trying to make it work…

so, back to learning and doing my best to not end up all alone towards the end of things…although I really really enjoy being alone, i seem to be good company for myself, don’t wanna end up that way…wanna go out with kids, dog and a partner…living life…

so yeah, if anyone feels the need to talk for hours on end – call me, i’m prepped and ready to go…

I’m hoping for the best from Wiseman but his on/off and RAPM have both been so horrific, it’s hard for me to believe there’s enough noise in those numbers to be optimistic.

I think I’d rather have Sochan, but maybe there are off the court issues with him. He’s seems a bit “different”. He can’t seem to stick anywhere. He was just released by Portland.

I’m wondering what kind of contract Wiseman will sign and when it will become effective. Will it be fully guaranteed? Will they delay and roster only 13 players for a week or two to free up a bit more cap space so that they can sign a 15th player on a pro-rated deal around or even after the deadline, like they did with Sochan last year?

And who knows, maybe a trade is imminent?

“I think I’d rather have Sochan, but maybe there are off the court issues with him. He’s seems a bit “different”. He can’t seem to stick anywhere. He was just released by Portland.”

Portland has a lot of bigs, so it’s not all that surprising. But he is a “free spirit” and that probably works against him.

As I said previously, I’d prefer him over Brown because I think he fills more of a need for us, but would rather wait than trade either of Kolek or Dadiet at this time.

geo, I’ve gotten back into letter-writing these days. Back in the day, writing letters was a primary means of communication between friends and family. I’ve saved all of my old letters and am getting a real kick out of re-reading them after all these decades. It seems like most written communication these days is in short texts and emails, and without the depth of thought that one put into writing a letter back then. So I’ve rekindled some letter-writing exchanges via email with long-lost friends, and it is a joyful endeavor. Sadly, I learned that some of the folks I had hoped to reconnect with had passed on. Just another reminder that every day is a gift.

Wiseman doesn’t have to sign anything new. Just by being kept on the roster, his Exhibit 9 deal converts to a standard non-guaranteed contract for the season. Knicks have until January 7 to waive him, before the contract fully guarantees.

Thanks timo, didn’t know that. It seems like it would cost something like $1M to sign a player to a vet’s minimum deal at the Feb deadline. According to AI, we would have $824,347 of second apron cap space remaining after signing Wiseman. I guess that if they just let Wiseman’s deal roll over and keep him past his non-guarantee date, they could still add a 15th player in early March, but maybe having enough cap room to sign someone closer to the deadline might be useful.

Whatever, I’m sure that Brock Aller is all over it.

The annual GM survey makes for intersting reading (see link below). Brunson was picked as best leader.

None of the GMs picked Ben Simmons as the most underrated acquisition, but I think he might be the one. He is being paid the vet minimum and actually made the starting line up. I watched him play a little in the Kings last preseason game and he looked good, and, in some ways, un Ben Simmons like. He actually drew fouls and got free throws and he made some shots i didn’t even expect him to take. His passing was still good. Time will tell, but I’m optimistic for him.

I believe this is $15,000 off because we were forced to pay Eubanks that much via the Exhibit 9 provision when we waived him.

It will cost around $844,627 to sign a deal at the deadline. So we should be able to sign a 15th man after 3 days.

With the regular season starting in two days, aren’t we past the point now where we executed the KAT trade in relation to the beginning of *that* season? It was very late, but it wasn’t two days before tip-off.

You’re right & that’s what the team statement basically implied too.

I’ve rekindled some letter-writing exchanges via email with long-lost friends, and it is a joyful endeavor.

there have been a couple of people with whom I was very close with that tried to connect with me in the last few years…unable to do it, siezed up in like terror or something, not sure, just glitched out…wasn’t like I had a bunch of friends back then either…just a few…still do have one thankfully…

my childhood was pretty happy, moved around a bunch, bit of turmoil in the home, but yeah, nothing to cause nightmares…who knows…

worked on behavioral and cognitive therapy stuff, maybe at some point do some of that regression therapy stuff…not sure why the past signals as pain…

seems the only gears I got are neutral and drive…

been to one school reunion…went with the one person from college still keep in touch with, he’s so cool, super charming and a great heart…felt sort of alone most the time though, especially those social get togethers, double yuch…next time i go back, i’ll bring family…

fortunate that both my high school and college are located in nice locations, so it’ll make a nice trip…

interesting concept being able to connect positively to your past…got a case on the va docket, long shot probably, says something in there about memory issues…might be that…

tell ya z,man, you sound like you’ve grown a bunch since moving on from full time working…nice to have that time back for yourself…

pretty cool that you’re using the time to keep growing…i’m starting to understand now just how crucial the whole physical maintenance stuff is…and, i’m sure your family appreciates the extra focus…managing work and family at the same time is some really hard shit…

most notable thing for me this pre season – seeing the point KAT thing being worked over and over…jokic-lite…

and, more jalen off ball…let him do his hold the ball thing when it comes time to close out games…

josh hasn’t looked very engaged yet, hope he’s alright, sure though he’ll play a lot harder on tuesday…

Same ol Josh. Nothing to worry about. He actually forgot to say he’s not sure what he’s supposed to be doing out there this year.

    for a durable (70 + games played) point KAT, yeah that’s worth 55 million…

    easy…ugh…

was hoping we’d get him for close to 50, that ain’t happening if he facilitates the offense, rebounds like crazy, score 15 to 30 points – and play defense (another new thing for his game)…

    KAT’s hitting his prime…

seems going 2 years in to the second apron would be a small price to pay to keep the core together for 3 more seasons…5 years with the same conference finals level starters is hard to do…on purpose i guess…

I think you guys might have discussed this already, but how weird is it that Boston and Detroit are playing at 3 pm on Tuesday?

Has to be the first day game ever not on a weekend or holiday. Not sure what Silver is thinking….

They’re gonna launch NBA Europe in the near future. Probably ramping up afternoon games yo generate more basketball interest

Yes, EB. NBA Europe. If you haven’t yet snagged a stint statewide, get onto this as it will happen.

Man, the Jets’ play calling is terrible. Gave it up on downs twice by predictably going straight up the middle.

EB, the NBA Europe venture will be all about marketing. Am not suggesting you are not good at that…but they definitely need a stat nerd to underpin whatever NBA has-beens they trod out.

OKC can suck eggs. Rookie trade with Memphis gives them this guy:

‘He is averaging 3.5 threes per game on 53.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Stirtz leads the entire league in total 3-pointers made (14-for-26), while his 17.0 points per game rank second among rookies and 16th overall.’

Meanwhile, possible steal of the year last year: “Jared McCain ranks second to Stirtz in total preseason threes (13 on 50% shooting).”

So much for under rated. Inning of the year. I feel like I jinxed him. I hope it’s not what is feared.

KFNNJ, if you’re on your laptop you have 4 minutes to go back in and edit. You phone people may not have that option. I stay off my phone unless traveling, since the only guy who ever calls me is named Spam (which was, in fact, what everyone including myself called my first college girlfriend [whose actual name was Pam, not because of smell or color or taste or anything else questionable]).

tough news for simmons…so much work to get back…dude must feel like job…

he’s 30, hopefully regroups and makes another run at it again once recovered…

same as phone, bigger font though on ipad and laptop, mercifully…still, sometimes post, forget something, run on a bit in edit…and then it’s a race against time, down to single digit seconds sometimes…in a rush, prepositions often fall off while typing, spell check, gone…

love that the short 5 minute edit window plagues E as much as it does me…once the mind gets going, it can be tough to harness…

Mike K forcing commitment upon us all…

Yeah, I was thinking that Simmons would be a good 3rd C/utility player for us, but I guess it’s just hard to be ready for the demands of playing at this level after being away for so long.

Let’s hope that Wiseman has better luck!
