I’m going low. 1)I think we’re going to be doing even more load management. 2)I don’t think our injury luck will be quite as good. 3)We’ll have a target on our backs every night. 4)Only two teams in the whole league have any incentive to tank.
We’ll be good, but I don’t see us as a regular season juggernaut. 51-52.
Two other bits of news:
1)Katz is back on the Knicks beat fulltime, sharing it with Edwards. Which means we’ll get even more coverage in The Athletic.
2)Stein says there’s a “real possibility” that the Mavs waive Cisse in order to keep Powell. He then mentioned several teams that would rush to try to sign Cisse to a two-way deal. My questions are these: I know we’re not allowed to trade with Dallas for him, but could we sign him to an NBA deal if he’s waived? And what are the odds another team could/would claim him before he cleared waivers?
And Fred’s first story back on the beat offers a bit of a tease of what’s to come in his book, since he talks about the players-only meeting after Atlanta Game 3:
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7698380/2026/10/19/knicks-season-opener-76ers-jalen-brunson/
I’m going 55. I think the Knicks will have an added level of confidence going into the regular season. Additionally I think KAT will have a chip on his shoulder given his contract talks & his improvement last year during the playoffs. Finally I’ll tack on a few wins to Mike Brown having a year under his belt will give him better insight on how to utilize the scheme/lineup against some teams during the season.
I’m going with 55 wins, although frankly, I’d rather we didn’t win that many. I’d be perfectly happy seeing us coast through the regular season at half speed, even if it meant finishing as the 4 or 5 seed.
I think the impact of tanking reform on our record is being overstated. Even before tanking became egregious, the bottom third of the league rarely beat the top teams. And we’re not a try-hard team like Detroit. We went 14-0 against the Nets, Wizards, Grizzlies, Pelicans, and Jazz because we were vastly more talented, not because they were deliberately losing. I don’t see us suddenly going 9-5 against those teams just because they’re motivated to win.
And there’s a flip side to the whole “everyone is gunning for you” argument. Being the champs comes with a psychological advantage. Some games are effectively won before tipoff because you expect to win and your opponent expects to lose.
If we’re healthy, I think we win the East. But I think this is OKC’s year. This team is better than either of their last two, and after the injury luck they had last season (which no one is paying attention to while they anoint the Spurs), I think they’re due.
Elsewhere, I have a huge postseason short on the Spurs. They may be the 1 seed but I think they go down hard in the playoffs, and not even against the Thunder.
And I’m very long Boston. With a healthy year from Tatum and a bounce back season from White, they will be the 1 seed in the East and have the #1 offense in the league. Combining the amount of threes they shoot with the extra possessions Mitch gains is a cheat code.
I’m in the 57-win camp. Health permitting, we are just too talented. Can see multiple long streaks where everything clicks.
I’ve tend to be overly conservative on wins for the Knicks. True to fashion I’m going to say 48. I think the rest of the east has either improved or has a significant player coming back from a long term injury. I think the east is going to be a lot more balanced, but I haven’t made any bets in either direction yet.
Someone on my timeline made an intersting point that all the analysis of the second apron, tax bills, frozen picks etc… is assuming the CBA doesn’t change in a couple of years. If it changes (seems likely to me), a lot of the potential problems change with it.
I think I’ve picked in the 53 win range each of the last 2 seasons so no reason to change this year. Would love to get into the upper 50 win total but I assume there’ll be a decent amount of nights where the Knicks interest in playing any sort of defense will be non existent and teams will hit a shitload of 3s.
In the end the goal should be a Top 3 seed which I believe Knicks will still have no problems achieving.
I saw the Stein report about Cisse, and I’m annoyed the Mavs didn’t just let us have him if they truly place a higher value on Dwight Powell.
Since we signed Wiseman to a vet-min, we’re in the same position with Cisse that we were with OAKAAK Bruce Brown. We can’t sign Cisse to a minimum without going into the second apron unless we trade Dadiet or Kolek (or someone else). I also doubt he clears waivers anywa.
This is one of the toughest win handicapping years I can remember. You’re dealing with:
1) the team looking much, much better in the playoffs than they did in the regular season
2) a Drummond/Mitch swap that absolutely made the team worse but might provide a regular season boost just due to availability
3) the tankers of yore becoming ~30 win try hards
I’ll go with 54. We’ll retain much of what we saw in the playoffs when it counts–using KAT as an offensive hub in particular will get a lot more run. The defense will be there when it needs to be, but having hung a banner, will take some nights off in February.
Going with 51 mostly for the reasons Alan stated. In addition, last year’s playoff run will allow Knicks to ease off the gas pedal during the regular season ( in addition to load management) and give some significant minutes to players who might be needed in the playoffs like Mo D and Wiseman. If Wiseman is unable to show that he is a viable option in playoffs, I see Leon making an Alvarado like move for a more competent center. I see OG becoming a more significant contributor on offense and perhaps becoming the second to most valuable player to Brunson. Hopefully, the Knicks have similar good fortune with injuries. I do think they make it to the finals again.
Due to the roster construction KAT will always be the 2nd most valuable Knick and I don’t think it’s particularly close.
Mavs are waiving Powell after all.
I think Philly is/would be hot on Cisse’s trail with the loss of Huk.
Hubert, #4 seed is OK, but not the #5 seed. Still want home court advantage in the first round.
If the whole league is truly better and there are fewer tanking teams, logically you’d need fewer wins to gain a high seed.
The Knicks got the #3 seed last year with 53 wins, which underperformed their Pythag, which was 56 wins. I think you’ll see something similar this year. Mid-50’s wins and a first round bye.
Well, not an *actual* bye. It would be cool if the NBA had those.
52 wins. I think they could start with a motivation to get 60, but Brown will experiment and give time to the end of bench players, and overall it’s an older team that will pace itself.
He could compete for minutes on the Knicks, no?
Predicting our win total this year is tricky…
On the one hand the East does appear to be tougher, at least on paper. I think anti-tanking measures are also overstated and the bad teams are still going to be pretty bad, but maybe a bad team tries a bit harder all season and that means 1 or 2 upset games.
I also do think teams will be gunning for us some, too. And we probably don’t have the same injury luck we did last season. Plus, no Mitch.
But, on the other hand…no Mitch means no load management for Andre. I also don’t see us going through a 14 game slide mid-season like we did last year and losing 9 in a row.
The team knows their roles and what it takes to win. There will be some confidence as the defending champs that might offset teams gunning for us. And I truly think point KAT is gonna fuck up a lot of shitty teams. Only 4 teams have experienced that so far.
But then again, maybe Mike load manages even more?
So I’m gonna say…54 wins. I think we win a few more than last year just based off of experience, continuity and championship swagger. But I don’t think we go for much more than that nor should we.
Baseball has entered some sort of postmodern phase of Moneyball where the market inefficiency is to prioritize contact hitting, defense, speed, and even bunting.
Next somebody is going to figure out how to get starting pitchers to throw 135 pitch complete games again.
51 or 52…will settle at 52 wins this season for the team…
I’m going with 54 wins. We have a very deep, talented, confident, and cohesive team, a team that might win 60 with a Thibs-like “grind ’em into dust” coach. The other way of looking at it is that we will lose 28 games. This approximately a 2:1 win to loss ratio. That seems about right to me.
“Baseball has entered some sort of postmodern phase of Moneyball where the market inefficiency is to prioritize contact hitting, defense, speed, and even bunting.
Next somebody is going to figure out how to get starting pitchers to throw 135 pitch complete games again.”
Love it!
An underrated bull case for a high win total is getting a full season from Alvarado. We only got 474 minutes from that guy last year, and if the eye-test, raw on/off numbers, and adjusted on/off numbers like EPM are to be believed, he makes a serious difference defensively.
Something we barely saw last year because of the timing of Deuce’s injury was an Alvarado/Deuce backcourt. It’s obviously quite small to the point of maybe being something of a gimmick, but man, I hope we get to see at least a handful of minutes of those guys hounding ball handlers.
52
For all the reasons cited above – load management, less hunger, target on our backs, preparing for the post-season. I wouldn’t be surprised if we threw the Cup games to some degree. That killed us last year (though it was cool to win it and a harbinger of things to come).
“Mavs are waiving Powell after all.”
It was so predictable that the Mavs would waive Powell that I’m surprised anyone fell for the clickbait. It would have been incredibly shortsighted for them to waive a young guy with upside like Cisse in order to keep a washed up scrub on the roster, especially after matching our offer to him. All reports were that Cisse played pretty well in preseason.
And frankly, I don’t see much daylight between Wiseman and Cisse. In fact, Wiseman probably has considerably more upside.
This is by far the most mysterious season I can remember for the NBA. So many unanswered questions across the board. Even just with the Knicks, will we see the inconsistent, streaky regular season team, or the Best Team in NBA History playoff team, or back and forth? Was losing every preseason game except a very close win against the Kahwi-less Raptors a sign or a nothing-burger? And around the league there are really only five or six teams where it’s pretty easy to say what they’re going to be.
It’s why I’m sick of reading NBA stories in the various outlets. They’re all saying more or less the same things, most of which boils down to tons of questions and let’s see what happens.
FYI, I said 53-54, but what do I know.
“An underrated bull case for a high win total is getting a full season from Alvarado. We only got 474 minutes from that guy last year, and if the eye-test, raw on/off numbers, and adjusted on/off numbers like EPM are to be believed, he makes a serious difference defensively.”
Not only that, he didn’t exactly hit the ground running.
You could also add in that Clarkson had a bit of a defensive and rebounding revelation later in the season that hopefully will carry over.
It’s hard to argue that our bench is “improved” with the loss of Mitch, but Drummond’s preseason play, another year under the belt of Diawara and Kolek, and Brown knowing how to get peak performance out of the team including the bench should be enough to overcome any of the reasons we sort of underperformed in the regular season last year and should balance out most of the improved teams and non-tanking.
Another random prediction…
This is going to be the most entertaining NBA regular season since Jordan was on the Bulls.
The league is overflowing with talent. I can’t wait to see what the top four rookies can do, and the sophomore class (Harper, Flagg, Kon, Bailey, Edgecombe) is poised to get better, too.
We have exciting teams in great basketball cities like Chicago and Washington again.
The movement of LeBron, Kawhi, Brown, and Giannis has created a ton of must-see matchups.
Haliburton is back, and he’s one of the best showmen in sports. Even the poor man’s Haliburton (Trae Young) has a platform again.
Giannis has barely been a factor for two years. Kyrie is back, and is probably going to end up somewhere in the east again.
There are compelling players and storylines everywhere you look.
And we’re in the middle of it all!
I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about a regular season.
I’m gonna go on the record with 52 wins as well, that feels about right to me.
Also the Wemby heel turn happened in the finals, that’s going to be a great watch, too! (I heard Zach Lowe say his 11 year old daughter called him “the jerkosauraus” and that made my heart warm).
I’m 99 percent certain that losing preseason games means very close to nothing. In my experience, the teams that lose the most in the preseason are the best teams, who are playing their core less and trying out new wrinkles more. In general.
I also like 52 wins. LET’S GOOOO!
“I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about a regular season.”
Ditto, mostly because I will enjoy every Knicks game as they are focussed on another playoffs run rather than seeing if what they have works. But also because so many teams in the East are potentially good. And at the bottom, much rather see a game against the Wizards or Nets this year when we are only slight favourites. But some of these potentially good teams will inevitably flounder. And the combo of the CBA, anti-tanking measures, and the flounderlings will make for interesting trade deadline speculation.
51 wins. Never been wrong. Won’t be this year.
Hubert, you perfectly summed up the many, many reasons I was saying it was so mysterious. All those plot lines, and so little narrative (yet!). it is certainly exciting as hell, and also feels very unpredictable.
Sacto is now looking for another pg. Would you swap Kolek for Dylan Cardwell? Probably better to roll with Kolek/Wiseman than Cardwell/Brown, right?
50Wins
Since this team don’t give a shit about home advantage i expect them to go chill mode in the regular season and turn to Beast Mode when it really counts!
I still say teams need to invest in Knuckleball pitchers. Imagine having 2 knuckleballers on your team – pitchers that can mop up innings without really working about back to back games or getting hurt. You keep everyone else on your staff fresh and optimal.
I’m just shocked that one team hasn’t tried to develop a bunch of them. And if there aren’t many knuckleballers out there – take your best flamed prospects who are smart and confident and have good heads on their shoulders & turn them into knuckleballers. Throw them out there frequently.
49 wins.
I suspect we’ll see a greater emphasis this year on keeping Brunson as fresh as possible for the postseason. More regular season burn for Alvarado & Kolek likely shaves 3-4 wins off last season’s total. Doubt the team goes all-in to repeat as IST champs, either.
I’m pretty pro Kolek this year and would not give him up that easily. I think there will be opportunities for him. Hopefully Jalen doesn’t play 70 games. And Jose had stretches last year where his shot wasn’t falling that looked atrocious.
Do any of the players on the squad seem like the type that would throw any games? I can’t see it.
We may not be able to help it. Our group games are:
at Philadelphia
at Indiana
vs Cleveland
vs Miami
Those are all going to have big game vibes, and I can’t see us taking any of them lightly.
Kolek is an excellent 3rd string PG. If either Brunson or Alvo gets nicked up, I have confidence that he can hold the fort. I guess you can patch over that loss with Deuce and Clarkson, but it would be messy.
One thing that both Kolek and Mo seem to have in common is that they are better when playing with better players. Macri made the point that two of the top 20 games in the Leon era had Kolek in the center of them, including the Cup final and the massive comeback on Christmas day.
I would hate to sell low on this guy.
OTOH, I kinda like what I have seen from Akins. The shot is a work in progress but he has nice size and toughness. I’m going to try to go to a couple of Westchester Knicks games to check him out up close.
We talking about Dwight Powell? When the Mavs made the Rondo trade, Cuban personally guaranteed that Powell would have a better career than Crowder. It’s almost as if the Mavs kept him around this long to try to prove a point or something.
I hope so. Last season, outside of metro NY from May-early June, was a monumentally weak product. I tuned out early and cancelled my league pass for this year. The league exhibited some real flaws that transcended simple tanking. I don’t expect they’ve fixed the problems, but I’ll keep an eye on things just in case you’re right.
I don’t see this squad throwing any games, but I do see Brown expanding the rotation in a way that makes losses more probable. In other words, I don’t think he’s going to run the starters out there for big minutes just to try to win all of those games.
The bottom line is that it is a very tough group and it will take a lot to win out. The only good reason I can come up with to go all-in on winning is to put the Drummond for Mitch maneuver to the test.
Looks like we might be getting Donnie’s wit back this year, too. That’s been gone for almost as long as Halliburton.
I can’t recall what the term is, but there is a tendecy for people to overshoot and overuse the latest and greatest techniques. There is also a tendency to initially overuse “general” stats and underweight or ignore the exceptions. The exceptions to the rules are often where the value is in gambling and imo that applies to sports stats in general.
I have no interest in Powell at the age of 35.
I think I’d swap Kolek for Cardwell in a second, and I like Kolek. Cardwell quite clearly fills more of our current need, and I’d certainly rather lose Kolek than Deuce.
Most of the Cup games, until the very last few, are just regular season games that also “just happen to” be Cup games. So no, we’re not going to “throw” games against those teams, but we’re also not going to give *extra* effort in them just because they are also Cup games, either.
“I don’t expect they’ve fixed the problems, but I’ll keep an eye on things just in case you’re right.”I
I’m pretty optimistic that the flaws have been largely corrected and then some.
-the anti-tanking maneuver is even better than I was clamoring for (which was a return to completely flattened odds. The “relegation” of the bottom 3 teams seems brilliant!) There are some good coaches who either purposely tanked last year or were sort of hamstrung by the personnel decisions of the FO. When 9 out of 30 teams had more incentive to lose than to win, that’s an enormous problem.
-the return of injured players: Tatum, Hali, Kyrie, etc.
-the realignment in the East
-the influx of draft talent
-the continued trend towards parity due to the CBA
I also think that the Knicks winning this championship has also given the league a boost. You kind of said that yourself.
But there is one huge caveat. We might be entering the LeBron 2.0 era with Wemby, where his team gets to the finals for like 8 straight years and wins multiple championships. And that’s the thing about NBA basketball that can’t be changed. In a game where only 5 players play at a time, and any player can play any role on either end, one freak of nature can tip the scales in ways that transcend all leveling tactics, especially when there is a punitive cap structure.
I personally think Wemby’s outlier greatness is very real, and only injury will prevent him from being a GOAT candidate with a handful of championships. And I think OKC is going to find that out the hard way this year.
paralysis by analysis?
Say 52…this regular season is just about making it to playoffs healthy and use last yr’s playoff muscle memory to ward off the challengers in the early rounds…and then let the “maestro” do his thang to bring it on home…
Bunting may be new, but putting the ball in play, smart baserunning, and good defense has been kicking the shit out of walks and home runs for the entire Aaron Boone era.
Speaking of OKC, one flaw that stands out to me is that they don’t seem to be all that physically big and tough. I think they will continue to be injury prone and that they can get pushed around and beaten up.
Z-Man, Donnie was suggesting we won the title because the league was tanking during the playoffs 🙂
i’m hoping for a more competitive season also…
the 65 games played rule for players to achieve contract incentives has helped…changing up the draft picking to reduce incentives for active roster depletion in order to lose more games will help…
AND, your reigning undisputed NBA champion New York Knickerbockers 🧡 💙
just a little baseball, really enjoying this rays/guardians series…so many fun players to watch…hopefully the guardians can even things up on game six…just to see it go seven…
the brewers were smoking hot…now there sitting…waiting…whoever makes it out from the ALCS should be in a really good competitive flow…
Milwaukee swept the Dodgers by severely out homering them while their hitters also set a record for highest strikeout percentage in LCS history. So they won by doing the exact opposite of putting the ball in play.
didn’t okc just pick up a bigger better chet…okc is the scourge of the nba…
another 60 win season for them, ho hum…they’re young, deep, and their core has played together for years…and, they got sga…if jalen williams can stay healthy for the playoffs, even the spurs may not beat them…
geo, I agree that OKC is theoretically the best team in the league. I just see them as being more vulnerable than San Antonio.
Wemby is only going to get bigger, stronger, better, and smarter. In the finals, he faded late in games and made some ridiculously dumb errors. Mitch Johnson was badly outcoached. Castle and Harper are probably going to be better. Tobias Harris will help.
What I believe hurts OKC against the Spurs is that Wemby’s presence inside the arc affects SGA more than it affected Brunson. The Thunder will have to be hitting 3’s at a high rate to loosen things up for him. While they can do that, the Spurs have a bunch of tough perimeter defenders.
I think we will learn a lot about these two teams from their regular season matchups.
As to the “bigger Chet,” Mara is a rookie and preseason means nothing. Let’s see how he does when the actual games start.
The world champion Dodgers of 2024 and 2025 were both brute force teams that were mediocre defensive teams that struck out a good amount and beat you by walking a lot, hitting lots of home runs, and their pitchers striking you out a lot. Basically First Wave Moneyball. Also they spent a billion dollars a year. This year’s Dodger team was actually a better contact hitting team than they had been in their championship years.
This year’s Brewers team actually is more of a contact hitting team than a power hitting team, the Dodgers’ pitching just kind of stunk at the wrong time and gave up some untimely HRs. Brewers were 25th in isolated power in the regular season but led the major leagues in OBP and batting average.
But that’s sort of less interesting to me than seeing what the real small market teams like Tampa Bay are doing to paper over their financial limitations. Tampa Bay is the most non-Three True Outcomes team in the league. Lowest K rate in the league but also a low walk rate, and 26th in the league in isolated power. They really do put the bat on the ball a lot.
OKC lost Dort, Joe and Wiggins without replacing them so their perimeter depth while still great took a pretty big hit.
“Milwaukee swept the Dodgers by severely out homering them while their hitters also set a record for highest strikeout percentage in LCS history. So they won by doing the exact opposite of putting the ball in play.”
This is misleading.
Game 1: Go-ahead run in a 2-1 game scored on a single.
Game 2: 6 of 7 Brewer runs scored on singles
Game 4: 4 of the 6 runs, including all of the runs that got them from 4-0 to 4-4, were scored on singles and doubles.
Sure, they hit some homers, but it was really their situational hitting that won the series.
“OKC lost Dort, Joe and Wiggins without replacing them so their perimeter depth while still great took a pretty big hit.”
I think this is somewhat overstated. Joe and Wiggins were pretty redundant. I think they will miss Dort, but they can compensate for that by giving more minutes to Caruso, JDub, and Cason.
My issue is with their purported Big 3. Chet got kind of exposed in the SAS series as playing smaller than he is, and they aren’t a particularly big team. But that was true even with Dort, Joe, and Wiggins.
Wait. I misread Donnie. I thought you were suggesting May-June was the tanking epidemic, which I thought was quite funny.
My bad.
They replaced all three of them before they left.
Cason Wallace, Ajay Mitchell, and Jared McCain are the replacements, and each of them is 5X better than the guy who left.
But the point is last season they had a shitload of injuries but it didn’t really matter cause they had all that depth. Now what happens when McCain and Mitchell get hurt as they have every season of their careers? Caruso is no longer a spring chicken so I doubt playing him extra minutes is a very viable strategy.
I think there’s significant upside to unleashing the KAT package during the regular season. The teams it worked against got steamrolled.
Of course, some teams will find an answer. The other issue is it requires a higher effort brand of basketball to be moving off-ball constantly. Players will start going through the motions by February.
OKC is just the worse…ugh…
not betting against wemby and the spurs either…
if they figure out how to pave themselves through a game in a better fashion – allow dylan harper to be the star he appesrs to be…double ugh…
of big interest going in to through and after this season: jokic signing this humongous contract…
want to see how denver can fill out a roster the following season with just one player taking up that large a portion of the cap…
looking forward to seeing more jalen and jose backcourts…
BBA I agree that they have lost a bit of depth and are therefore more injury-susceptible. My point is that even if they stood pat, I think the Spurs have surpassed them and that they are possibly overrated in general because they lack physicality and toughness.
The Knicks are not particularly suited to match up with OKC because we don’t have a 7’5″ guy with an 8′ wingspan to muck up their midrange game. We just don’t seem to have a great answer for SGA. We haven’t beaten them since 2022. I’m looking very forward to the two games against them in February to see if we can break that streak.
I think you’re all sleeping on Mara and Stitz. The first guy is 7’3″ with a standing reach of 9’9″, and the other made over 50% of his threes in the preseason while shooting a %$#@-ton of them.
They’re both rookies and therefore idiots, but they may be important cogs for OKC by the halfway point of the season.
Think the book is out on Wemby. Force the switch and let SGA cook him 1v1 when his feet get tired in the 2nd half.
I think Hubert is right, they replaced them before they left. May have done the same for Chet already.
Perhaps the seling point is, get paid peanuts to play for us for a few years, become branded as a winning NBA player and then we’ll help you go get paid. Don’t plan to be here long.
I think tanking teams will steal a ton of games from everyone. That + unsettled money talk is why I’m going with 48 wins and the 6th seed this season.
the sixth seed – WHAT!?!?!
what five teams in the east are gonna finish with a better record than us?
hmmmmm…
I’m surprised Director didn’t have the Knicks missing the playoffs entirely.
Jesus, you know what isn’t fun? Doing 3rd grade math homework with an emotionally disregulated child. I can actually handle the emotions but I had to use HAL to remember how to express the distributive property of multiplication. Damn you, Miss Gavi.
Wow the Lakers waived Knecht. Memphis also waived Clayton Jr and Peavy, all decent prospects.
And the Bucks waive Porter Jr!
Fair question but I also think that’s like asking what will the Knicks do when Landry Shamet and Deuce McBride get hurt. They’re not depending on McCain and Mitchell, those guys are just overkill.
Now if Jalen Williams breaks down again, that will be a problem. But he’s been averaging 70+ games a year until last year.
52 wins. Historically, teams that end 50+ year droughts with a title do not carry that level of success into the next year. It’s still a great lineup with championship level talent, but there are no surprises. MO’s development is slow. Dadiet is a lost cause and Kolek is just ok. After the team’s health come playoff time, the big question is whether or not Jalen has that next level, sustained drive that the immortals possessed. Is he a single championship guy, or a multiple championship guy?
Boone is returning next season, maybe Dolan can buy the Yankees…
Topić.
Not sure what your misreading says more about: your expectations for my wit or your expectations for the knicks. (I expect both will probably let you down this season, but hey that’s why they play the games:)
I’m rooting for Mamdani to have New York City municipalize the Knicks, Rangers, Yankees, and Mets.
Go big or go home, socialists.
Sounds like a fruitful long term way for me to make money betting on the under. 😉
I vote for hubie’s solution…
I like Knecht as a buy low guy. Would rather have him on a 2-way than McCullar.
so excited to see the team take the court tomorrow…
MB mentioned in a recent presser that some unexpected players may be getting an opportunity early on…
wonder if that means pacome…
I’m going with 58 wins. That was my prediction last season and it all ended superbly with the NBA Championship. Don’t change what works. 😉

Knecht is Nickel with a little more seasoning and a little more cost.
listening to Celtics fans get extremely excited about Mitchell Robinson makes me ill.
Hubert, I know the feeling. Nobody’s ever going to feel that way about Drummond even though he’s overall pretty competent.
On another matter, I am halfway through listening to a Dunc’d on podcast featuring the guy who invented DARKO. That guy thinks the Celtics are under rated this season. He also thinks they pay a lot of attention to advanced stats in building their roster and that getting George and Mitch instead of Jaylen Brown makes them a better team. He’s down on the Sixers and thinks they are over rated. He thinks their skills are duplicative and also some players are likely to be worse this year.
I don’t think the Celts are getting to 50 wins this year.
I do think the Celtics are underrated, but I still think we are the team to beat.
Looking down all the depth charts, only OKC and maybe Cleveland compare imo.
Next tier is the Spurs (I think they take a step back this year), Indy, Houston, Detroit, Boston.
Then the Sixers and Heat in tier 3.
I like Drummond. But he’s a backup center. Mitch is a starting center who was backing up KAT. Big difference.
Friday’s gonna suck.
To my surprise, The Athletic picked the Knicks to beat the Thunder in the finals and win the NBA championship. I am expecting pundits to pick the Spurs, but not this time.

I wanted to see the results of the poll, but I also didn’t want to taint the results by voting as a resident troll. But then I noticed that all 5 options lay within a 7 game bandwidth. So I couldn’t even troll the poll if I wanted to. Why no Win More Than 69 Games option like they’ve earned, or Be Under .500 like Pags would want to predict? Seems to unfair to we neurodivergents out here.
51, less tanking in the league and I think the team will pace its self coming off a long season .
58 wins. The Knicks unlocked something in Towns, and they will now destroy the league. I’m only not going for 60+ because the other teams are all forced to try to win this season.
Almost forgot to get my pick in. I’m going 55 wins.
