So the Nuggets are going to waive Julian “Ju Ju” Reesa (brother of Angel Reese.) He’s undersized for a C, but may be worth a look for a 2-way spot.

I understand you are being facetious about puting OG’s hand of God play to Puccini’s second greatest work, but opera is a wonderful medium combining symphony, artful lyrics sung rather than spoken with acting.
My mom graduated Julliard in 1938 majoring in voice/opera, so I was brought up around it and still enjoy.

Interesting about Reese. Took the 2nd apron to make him available so paradoxic if we signed him. But a stretch as a camp invite, and probably has better options than us to latch onto as a small C/PF. Yes though a sign that players of the calibre we are looking for may be in play.
Now that Owen got me in my game 4 feelings again, my mind drifted to the most unsung hero of this whole run: Gershon Yabusele.

Other teams are also likely interested in Reese. See the link below, for example. Since he’s actually being waived, teams can claim him off waivers and he’s on a two way contract, so most teams can afford him. I doubt he makes it to free agency and think one of the 23 teams ahead of us in the claim order will take him.

I had no idea until it was stated above that JuJu was Angel’s brother. Here in the DC area we heard a lot about his rebounding prowess (runs in the family!) for the Wizards. He’s a little bit undersized to be a true center, though.

mentioned it before, one of the most memorable moments at this outside amphitheater in town was when they hosted some winners from a music contest…
all was normal ’til a young lady got on stage to sing some opera…the neighborhood dogs there, which I never knew existed before (or haven’theard since) – started howling…beautiful sound (singer, not doggies), interesting moment…

As an aside, my mother did not attend Juliard, but I was in a long term relationship with a Calabrian woman from Catanzaro who had exquisite taste in music (it’s been ten years since we broke up and I still secretly follow her on spotify). And I was moved by opera the first time I heard “che gelida manina” at a Sam Goody listening station in the early 90’s, but I never learned Italian. On our long drives out to Montauk I would play all my favorite operas and have her tell me what the hell everyone was talking about, kind of like you just did.
Probably would have married that one if not for the southern temper. Anger is human but meanness is something else entirely.
In college I managed to catch an opera double feature of Soir Angelica and Gianni Schicci and I was surprised how moving I found the whole experience, I would love to go the opera again were there any within driving distance.

Since we are officially in the “dead news” period of the year (unless you watch baseball or something crazy like that), here’s something I’ve been thinking about.
Since the Championship, Jalen Brunson is now up there (alongside Clyde) for “Greatest Knick Ever” designation, in my view.
I used to have Patrick and Willis and Bernard under that, with the order changing depending on my mood. If KAT takes a salary cut, he’ll be there as well.
There are now days where I consider OG to be on the list, sometimes even up there with Clyde and Brunson.
What do others think about OG’s legacy? And not just the tip in, and the block, though those will be immortalized. Also his stifling defense, about a hundred 3 pointers (and doing it all on a bad hamstring!)

I have a daughter named Bohème and I have to say, it’s pretty disappointing how many people pronounce her name wrong, even among the bougie angelenos I run with. It’s kind of depressing how no one knows Puccini anymore.
Hubert, the question is how we rate OG and the other guys from this team against the non-Clyde/Willis players on the original title teams. Z-man and some of our other old heads can speak to that better than me, but Dave D has to still be higher than anyone on this roster outside of Brunson and *maybe* KAT, right? But maybe KAT and/or OG are ahead of Dollar Bill and Dick Barnett?
Knicks Mt Rushmore is clearly Clyde, Willis, Patrick, and Jalen. Bernard is the only other non-champ I’d put in the top 10, but I’m also completely ignorant on guys like Willie Naulls and Richie Guerin.

Brunson literally carried the Knicks across the finish line in this year’s playoffs scoring 36 in game 4 and 45 in game 5 when no one had any offense in that game other than him. He brought them from irrelevance to relevance to the championship in 4 years.
Dave D was the secret sauce that made a good team to a great team for 5 seasons.
Patrick was a terrific player who melted during the biggest play of his career and was a spectator along with Mason while Charles Smith was getting sodomized in 1993.

Alan, it was actually TheRant that asked the question, and I think it’s a good one.
I find it less fun to rank against the 70s Knicks, though. That’s partly bc I didn’t watch them and partly bc they deserve to dominate the rankings, which IMO make it less fun.
I think it’s more interesting to debate players most of us remember, so we can argue things like Sprewell vs Houston and Oakley vs OG for first team, what center makes the 3rd team, and what PGs belong behind Brunson.
So here are my three all-Knicks-from-1980-and-on teams:
G Brunson, Jackson, Lin
G Houston, Sprewell, Starks
F King, Hart, Melo
F Anunoby, Oakley, Randle
C Ewing, Towns, Camby
Toughest omissions:
Mikal Bridges. I had to give it to John for the memories.
Charlie Ward. Likewise I gave the nod to Lin bc IMO Linsanity needs to be recognized.

The other good thing about not having to compare anyone to the 70s Knicks is it spares us from harsh assessments like this:

Other than Ewing, Mase was my favorite from those teams. He was awesome. Also im feeling some kind of way about all the guys who brought us a championship in my lifetime. They’re graded on the my feelings curve.
The Clyde/Willis Knicks played in 3 championship rounds, winning two and losing a third to the Lakers ( though those teams did partial retools. Lucas and Monroe). Agree with Bob that Dave D was an essential part of those outcomes and thus deserves to be ahead of any current Knicks except for Jalen. If current Knicks can either win or get to another championship round and OG and /or KAT can sustain the level of play they did in last year’s playoff run then they deserve consideration. I believe the current competitive landscape is more challenging than it was in the 1970’s.
