it’s like “here’s the problem that completely flummoxed the knicks for the entire pacers series. and here’s how mike brown solved it in a minute by doing something obvious.”
if thibs is coaching this team, does he solve that Atlanta problem in round 1 by making a major adjustment?
The Lakers are being sold, again. Bob iger (formerly Disney CEO, twice, and a guy quoted in my Rod Serling book) is leading the team that’s buying them — along with Jared Kushner’s brother.

Going to the Philadelphia LeBrons is now seeming like an even better idea, in the nick of time.

Enshittification is a fairly popular term for how apps seem to inevitably get worse and cost more over time due to their owners trying to squeeze every possible drop of profit out of them.
Have no idea why a partial sale of the Lakers amounts to anything negative, and looking at the details, seems like a slight positive. Please expand on your reasoning.

Enshittification was coined by Cory Doctorow, I think he eventually wrote a book on it which is supposed to be pretty good.
Aren’t the Kushners basically a front for Saudi money? So even worse than just the Kushner buying them.

It’s interesting Warner sold so quickly. He is making like 25% on his investment in about a year, but it’s very unlike a sports team owner to be buying for short term gain. Maybe the reality of the CBA actually preventing deep pockets from being a big advantage in the NBA (unlike, say, the Dodgers) sunk in. He may have concluded the Lakers spent their wad this summer and are still not likely to be real contenders.

Typically, enshittification happens in industries where a large market share is a competitive advantage. Companies seem great and friendly to consumers when trying to gain that market share but once they get it they exploit it. Think of Google search, or Amazon marketplace as examples.

Mike Brown really deserves all the flowers. He did pretty much exactly what we all hoped he’d do. He kept the good parts of Thibs’ schemes, improved the rest, and gave players a longer leash while still demanding accountability and improving the culture.
He’s in the Leon Rose/Karl-Anthony Towns/Landry Shamet category, which is “guys who exceeded my wildest expectations.”
Love that guy. He’s just a great goofy corny adorable likable dude. Didn’t see that one coming at all.

anyone using AI to help pick stocks/funds…been watching some vids on the subject, seems with the right agent (claude) and correct prompts it may actually be an effective way of squeezing out more gains with your portfolio…
I find AI to be spectacularly bad at almost everything, although it did recommend a good way for me to mic up a Fender Rhodes piano yesterday. It’s also good at making my angry letters to my HOA less psychotic. So far those have been the two best use cases I’ve seen.

But for now, i have news from my pilgrimage to Fatima. First, we’re alive, LOL. Second, i didn’t pay attention to the backpacks weight and i don’t know how we made the first point. Double LOL. Third, and last, I’m adding an extra day to our journey, and changing the accomodations for the last 2 nights, to have 3 days of light backpacks.
Somehow we’ll get there. At least me, i have to.

I won’t engagre in the anti-Thibs circle-jerk beyond stating that the main jerkers have been wrong about pretty much everything they have posted during the Leon era.
Well, in all fairness, one take that aged pretty well is “this team should get somebody other than Tom Thibodeau to coach it”
I don’t believe in coaches and even I agree with this take. Thibs was a psycho and it turns out Mikal Bridges does play better when he doesn’t play literally the most minutes in the NBA.
