2025-26 Game Thread: One or Two of the Knicks vs. Hornets –

The season ends today, and hey, 53 wins is pretty fucking close to 58 wins, so I’m still feeling great!

I’m also feeling great about the fact that the Raptors are almost guaranteed to finish 6th, as the Celtics, like the Knicks, are punting their final game, so the Magic WILL win, and even if the Hawks lose, so long as the Magic win and the Raptors win (who are playing the intentionally tanking Nets), the Raptors WILL be the #6 seed.

So, while this game is only about getting Mikal his Iron Man streak, let’s have some fun! And if the Hornets move up in the standings and face the Celtics as the #7 seed, hey, that’s cool, too!

Let’s go, some of the Knicks!

Hornets are locked into the 9/10 game vs Miami, they are only playing for homecourt in that game.

Diawara is spindly and moves in a weirdly stiff way, but I think there’s a real basketball player in there.

This lost it’s entertainment value real quick…oh well..I’m off to start partying and then to see Devo tonight…”are we not men?”

3

final well earned bogey for the win…he was knocking it all over the place for a while, and still consistently making par…back to back…

Are people still worried that some team is going to give Mo a crazy contract offer??

Baylor Scheierman Is cooking the Magic

After going off against the Knicks..

Would be annoying if they have another secret weapon

*Pacome was the Knicks pick

It’s looking like knicks pistons all over again from last year, with knicks vs hawks, but you know what we need to sharpen the knife before the Celtics so bring it on

ORL sat Desmond Bane after he started and played a few minutes to keep his streak of playing all 82 games.

Despite the fact that blowing this game will cost ORL the HCA in the 7-8 game with PHI.

They finally bring him back in the 4Q, when it looks way too late.

I wouldn’t have bet a dime on ORL to win this one, but didn’t expect that.

Orlando is choosing to play the Celtics or pistons in round one or do they just suck??

I might actually be happy we’re playing Hawks instead of Raptors in the 1st rd, would feel like a bit more of an accomplishment beatinf Atlanta while anything short of a sweep vs Toronto would’ve felt like a disappointment.

Orlando could’ve only moved up if Toronto lost so I’m not surprised they’re losing to Boston cause they knew there was no chance in hell Nets were beating the Raptors.

Orlando would be in the play in either way

So kind of fun to watch the kids, and nice that they didn’t get totally blown out by a bunch of starters trying hard to win the game, although really the only good thing about the game was that Deuce had a great tune-up for the playoffs. So that was nice.

Paddling away from Huk Island. His numbers weren’t terrible (8-9), but I swear more rebounds went through his hands than the number he actually held onto.

Sadly Jemison was worse.

Dadiet made a bunch of shots late, but he was ass for most of the game. Did not look like an NBA player, even a bench player, for much of it.

That’s all I got.

The Hawks play very good team basketball but have no playoff experience, no superstars, and no closers. It is not going to be easy but we should win the series. If we lose to them in the first round, there will be nobody to blame but us.

[Edit: maybe I spoke too fast: the Magic are making a comeback against Boston. We shall see.]

Orlando gets home court in play in vs being on the road for the play in game, so they should care to win

The Magic tied it up…unbelievable they still might blow this despite having something to play for

Magic should be ashamed of themselves. They should just get reranked to #9 or #10 after this

Fucking crazy. Oh well, the Knicks will obviously beat the Hawks, too.

Cronin….

I have a healthy respect for the Hawks. Alexander-Walker is playing out of his mind, Dyson Daniels is a demon, Jalen Johnson is a serious all-star, CJ is playing great, Okongwu is always a threat, and Gabe Vincent always harshes my calm.

Raven, Beware of the bad Knicks more than the good Hawks. It’s playoff time. The Knicks should bring it. I hope.

I know he’s still young, but Dadiet looks more like Dud-iet. Hopefully he’ll go out in the Giannis trade this summer.

Dadiet has no value at the moment . If the Knicks see nothing in summer league need to move off his roster spot

Towns will need to be at his best with Daniels hawking Brunson. They don’t have anyone that can guard Towns. We need to be Towns dominant on O against the Hawks. ATL will be as good a test as the Pistons were last year.

I don’t know about Dadiet yet. I agree he didn’t look very good, but one game of modestly bad shooting is too little to draw a conclusion from. For comparison, Diawara was zero for five on three pointers, but that doesn’t make me give up on him.

Dadiet really doesn’t do anything well. Is it all tied to youth? He gives Kevin Knox vibes. Year 3 coming up .

He’s French at least . Maybe he can cook? Or write symbolic language poetry?

He made a big jump in scoring in the gleague between last season and this season.

He’s friends with Diawara from back in France.

Would not be surprised if we cut him before next season.

23 pts on 47 % shooting isn’t bad. Maybe they keep him around, but the clock is ticking . He really needs a big offseason. Since this team doesn’t have much youth maybe they are willing to take this as far as they can .

This is so offensive to Randle.

How? They have similar play styles . Randle is just a lot better .

Exactly! By a country mile!

On the one hand, it’s promising that he could put up that many points despite still being a poor 3pt shooter.

On the other hand, Hukporti scores 25pts/36 in the gleague. Dadiet’s point total still isn’t very good. He doesn’t exactly fill up the boxscore outside of points scored either.

Rough , I called Paolo a garbage version of him

Seems like you are agreeing with me.

He doesn’t exactly fill up the boxscore outside of points scored either.

Yeah, that’s my issue. No impact outside of points. His passing is bad and his defense is very meh . Not a solid player profile here.

Spurs with an interesting move

You could risk injury doing it, but shouldn’t you want to beat Denver to move them into the 4th seed and have the Lakers/Timberwolves in round 2 and Denver in OKC bracket

Yes. Randle is so much better. I admit I have missed his physicality and strength down low a lot the past couple of seasons.

You know, the Knicks have a first round pick, a top second round pick and a bunch of other second round picks. They can’t put the first rounder on a two way and they probably don’t want to put the Washington pick as a two way either. I don’t know how they fit them on the roster. They probably can replace Jemison and Brooks as two ways with late second rounders, but I don’t know who they would cut to make way for two full contracts. Maybe Sochan and Dadiet. But they are both still young and coukd get better over the summer. It would be better to trade someone or some picks. Maybe they trade Kolek. He probably has some value, but they seem to like Alvarado and Clarkson better.

Sochan is gone if he gets some team to give him minutes . I’m not sure he’s enjoyed his non appearances here .

One of the small guards most likely gone

I’ll also throw in that if McCullar can actually stay healthy over the off-season, I’d put him on the roster over Dadiet.

No idea what’s going to happen with Sochan. Such a weird case and skill set.

There’s also a 70% chance Leon punts/packages all the picks and we keep Dadiet on the roster by default.

I’d be annoyed if Leon punted this draft . Assuming the later picks don’t all go back for NIL it has some real talent available.

“Definitely heard some cheers coming from the Raps room when Garza hit the game-winner for Boston, but RJ Barrett insists they didn’t have a preference between Cleveland or New York. He played (and beat) the Cavs in the 4-5 matchup when he was with the Knicks in 2023”.
