2024-25 Game Thread: Knicks @ Magic: Screw You, In-Season Tournament

The Knicks BEAT these guys, and now have to go on the ROAD to play them because they lost in the Cup? Make that make sense, NBA!

At least the Magic suck right now, so that should help the Knicks get a win to shut the critics up.

Let’s go, Knicks!

Deuce Deuce!

Miles McBride
Miles Bridges
Miles Plumlee
Miles Simon
CJ Miles
Darius Miles
Aaron Miles
Isaiah Miles

3 possible outcomes tonight

– Knicks romp – “well they should beat a team missing their 2 best players”

– Knicks win a close one -“Jeez we barely beat a team missing their 2 best players”

Knicks lose – “Man we suck we just lost to a team missing their 2 best players”

In other words, not a lot to look forward to tonight

Orlando is the only team remaining that is undefeated at home. Don’t care how ugly it might be a Knicks win tonight would still be great.

Looking a lot like the game in Atlanta.

We make a lot of dumb passes in transition.

Wow we have 2x as many turnovers as we do field goals.

Somehow our allegedly great offense sucks against good defenses while our allegedly mid defense sucks against terrible offenses

Has there ever been a top 3 offense for which a 3 point lead consistently feels unrecoverable?

Pretty sure we’re the first. This is a loss.

Last year’s third quarter is this year’s first quarter. We SUCK in the first quarter.

Maybe Brunson’s baby is having one of the first year sleep regressions this past week.

i want this poster d-mar, keep it next to all my sports memorabilia…

People want to know why ratings are down, the refs and these stupid reviews are a big part of the reason.

Really poor decision by KAT to not close out on Wagner, but at least he’s still an offensive juggernaut

mikal might be starting to feel it a bit…

saw him talking shit while wagner was shooting free throws…he wears a mouth guard and is fairly quiet, so not sure if anyone else on the court noticed…

but, his demeanor seems to have shifted…

This is one of the worst reffed game I’ve ever seen, it looks like the refs want a fight to erupt just for fun…

Masterclass by Brock Aller to remain under the second apron after giving the ISM a one-day contract

This is who the Magic are though, they’re the worst 3pt shooting team in the NBA for a reason.

Without Wagner the Younger it seems like Orlando just doesnt have the juice on offense, as long as we keep putting in a middling offensive game and cut down on the turnovers we should be fine

Easily the most frustrating 10 point lead I’ve ever seen

I was gonna say the same

they are some grinders these orlando magic…in there mucking things up…

suggs is just a fiend after the ball…

nobody at all on the new york knicks wants to try to lay the ball up, cuz there’s a good chance it will be blocked…

they run back on defense so well, and with so much effort…

yeah, we better make some outside shots this half, or…

The thing about grinders with shitty offense is that if their energy or focus lapses at all we can score some points quickly, and they just don’t have the means to make up that gap grinding it out unless they get hot from three

Agree, but people who couldn’t watch the game tomorrow will say “I read the boxscore, we played well, why are you bitching so much?” 😉

Knicks are winning this game similar to how last season’s team would’ve been winning, isn’t that what many people here miss seeing?

Just point out the 11 turnovers at the half, and I think it was 7 in the first quarter.

let us hope…be nice to have a run of threes sometime here in the 3rd…

Bridges layup. Feel like that hasn’t happened in a while

Josh Hart looked like a great fullback there

The Magic don’t exactly have a lot of firepower but we really do look locked in on the defensive end tonight

Mo Wagner hitting threes is making me throw up a little in my mouth each time…

I’ve never heard Moritz Wagner talk, does he have a heavy german accent? Hope so.

I have a friend who regularly makes the Josh Hart “I was fouled” face. I think of that guy every time Hart scores a basket

However, if Suggs and Josh Hart played on the same team they’d lose every game 32-28.

Magic color guy just said Suggs probably isn’t a good poker player because you can see exactly what he’s thinking on his face.

Nice to have another 3 days off before a very interesting game at Minnesota on Thursday.

Feels weird rooting for a Knicks team who are just much more skilled playing against a team of all defense guys who can’t fucking shoot to a tremendous degree

The team Orlando had available tonight was not exactly bursting at the seams with talent, but this was still a nice road win for the Knicks. Brunson was great in the fourth quarter, was the best player on the floor by a mile and wasn’t going to let the Knicks lose. Just some incredible handle from the captain there at the end.

Maybe I’m hallucinating but I could have sworn I saw Mikal Bridges really moving his feet and playing some quality man defense on at least a few occasions. In general, when Mikal is having a good game it seems like we are tough to beat.

Mikal looked like he really bothered Suggs tonight, it may be he can still provide good POA defense against guys who aren’t high level small guys. Suggs is a terrific athlete and he’s strong but he doesn’t have anything close to a handle like Trae or the speed of someone like maxey

I think Bridges had his best defensive performance as a Knick by a mile. Team defense overall was not excellent but, if I remember correctly, for the first time this season was consistent throughout the game. It psychologically helped, of course, that the opponent’s shooting was atrocious. Only once, after we went up by 14 midway through the third quarter, there was some complacency, things became messy for a couple of minutes, and Orlando went on an 8-0 run. Thibs took a timeout and things were fixed.

It’s possible that after 3 full days between games, there was a combo of schematic adjustments and rest that helped Bridges look better. Now there’s another long break before a much more telling game where he’ll be dealing with that monster known as Ant-Man.

The Mavs and Warriors just broke the NBA record for most three pointers made in a game with 48

How’s it goink?

Mo Wagner may be an annoying dirty whiner, but he seems to have become a pretty decent backup C.
