Wait…….what? Whatever the hell this means, is it about basketball? Asking for a friend.
I was hoping that we re-signed Precious overnight, but it seems not to be the case.
Doogie, here’s something to consider:
Right now we have a brief window where we can sign Precious to any dollar amount needed to facilitate a trade.
Let’s say we strike a deal for Ayton, for example. He makes $32mm. We can pay Precious $32mm for 3 years with the last 2 not guaranteed to facilitate a trade.
So it’s possible we have an agreement in principle already done but have told his camp if he’s willing to be patient and open to a trade there is a possibility for a wayyyyyy over market contract.
And fwiw I know that’s not how you spell way.
Yes, I get it. All the waiting just seems risky to me. But I keep hoping that whatever is going to occur is already in the works.
Let’s say we strike a deal for Ayton, for example. He makes $32mm. We can pay Precious $32mm for 3 years with the last 2 not guaranteed to facilitate a trade.
when you’re flying wichita to santa fe and they run through the emergency water landing crash prep
There is certainly logic in the delay in signing Precious, there. I know you used Ayton as an example, but I wonder what Bridges told Leon about his years with him in PHX and what the problem is with him. If there ever was a guy who looked like Robert Parrish pre Boston trade, it is Ayton.
Ha.
I was “inspired” by a terrifying mock trade in the Athletic where Philadelphia signs Kenyon Martin Jr to a similar deal and trades him to Utah along with their stash of picks for Markannen.
Except we can only actually do this for a player earning up to about $14m, right? We’re capped at the second apron so we can sign Precious to that amount. Not sure if we can then aggregate him with, say, McBride but realistically it’s hard to see us getting to more than $18m of incoming salary (unless I still don’t understand the aprons issue).
Two mini-series recommendations:
Eric
The critics say there are too many themes, and plotlines and characters, and it’s true, but I thought it did a great job holding together the difficulty in being a parent, and a child, and the need to hide your gender preference, and race. It brilliantly brings back NY in the 80s. I loved it.
Ripley
The first episode, moving from a falling apart NY to a beautiful town in Italy is a masterpiece. The rest is also very beautiful visually, and has its own deliberate pace showing one man taking over another man’s life and money and identity. Each 1 hour episode is like a whole film in itself.
You are mostly correct. We can’t actually pay Precious $32mm but we can pay him up to the second apron and package him with anyone (Deuce at $5mm and Mitch at $14mm being the most likely candidates).
Ripley is tremendous.
I was into Eric but it kinda lost me when [significant spoiler forthcoming] he suddenly gave up on the pursuit of his son to get high on heroine.
He’s an asshole, no doubt.
Capela is available. Unfortunately we don’t have the player/salary to move for him.
I’m not saying i want* Ayton, because i haven’t even thought about it, but wouldn’t the deal need a number of picks we don’t have anymore?
*He’s certainly great offensively, but how good is he on defense? And would he ruin our through the roof team chemistry?
I think that Thibs would hate Ayton after 20 games or so. Not what you want. I’m not sure that Thibs would be in love with Duren, either. I think that Nick Richards or Mark Williams would be more Thibs’ speed, and I’m saying that in a good way. I think that under his tutelage, they could be “good enough” starting centers. I’d have to look at their injuries history, though.
I don’t like Ayton, either. If we acquired him it would mean Leon & co really did their homework and figured out there’s a thread to pull.
He’s been a good defender, though. The Suns had a top 3 defense in ’22 behind him and Bridges.
He misses a lot of games.
I don’t think it would take first round picks to get him. It wouldn’t surprise me if he comes with a pick attached.
The more time passes, the more I think that we are just going to use the taxpayer MLE on someone and then going to use the remaining cap space under the second apron for Precious. Then we’ll just roll with that until an opportunity pops up. I just don’t see Precious’ camp waiting around for very long.
Mark Williams has played only 62 games combined in two seasons, including only 19 last season. Buh-bye, Mark. Richards played in 67 games last season. At this point, we’d probably be happy with that and platoon him with Mitch with sprinklings of Precious and Hukporti mixed in. The best thing would be if somehow Hukporti would be a viable starting center if need be, but we won’t have enough information on him in time to make any decisions based on him. (No, Summer League doesn’t really count.)
Ayton has this year and next on his contract, so if he wants to continue getting paid in the NBA he’s going to have to buckle down and work the next two seasons to get his next contract.
Portland just spent a big pick on a C and the also have Williams, so they might be interested in moving him to get off the 35M next season.
He might be Joe Barry Carroll or he might be Parrish. He does have a lot of talent.
Duop Reath? Yes.
I think the probability of the Knicks trading for Ayton is very close to zero.
Deandre Ayton will never, ever, ever, ever be Robert Parish.
BTW I don’t hate the idea of Ayton. I just don’t see this FO engaging in a high- priced reclamation project where there might be chemistry issues. It’s not their MO.
Drew Eubanks?
Robert Parrish wasn’t Robert Parrish until he made a trip across the continent.
Then when did he become Robert Parish? 🙂
i kind of remember as a young person that the chief was into big chiefin’…
it surprised me because he didn’t look anything like the potheads I knew about at the time…
You know, Precious is not bad. His defense is good. The biggest issue is that he’s a little smaller than ideal for a backup center. The baseline position should be resigning him. You do that unless you can do better in a trade somehow. Some nominally available centers aren’t better than him. For example, Richuan Holmes seems pretty similar and is much older. If he was available, why bother?
I looked at Ayton versus Achiuwa. He’s clearly better on offense and only a year older. But he wasn’t so much better stat wise that I thought he was head and shoulders better. In this case the price would matter.
100 percent what Knick fan not in NJ said. I’ll also add the chemistry with OG as an extra reason why re-signing him should be the default position.
A lot of the chatter about Ayton in Phoenix was that he was unhappy being in a tertiary offensive role. Unless a year of losing in Portland has changed that particular attitude, I can’t imagine him being a good fit on a team with so many guys who should be higher on the pecking order.
Maybe it’s just instinctual, but I somehow don’t think that Ayton in a New York Knicks uniform “works well” or would end well. I can’t put my finger on it, but it doesn’t seem like a great fit. Maybe just perceived chemistry and/or work ethic.
Another reason to just bring Precious back. The chemistry from last season’s playoff run (and with OG, especially) is already there. And we don’t have to give up anyone to get him! With all the talent we already have on this team on both offense and defense, I think that we could more than get away with a platoon of Mitch/Precious/Hukporti.
The best thing to do with Ayton would be to try to turn him into a young version of Brook Lopez. He’s been shooting more and more and further and further away from the rim and he’s actually been pretty good at it, but what he hasn’t done is take 3s. Ayton’s a finesse big, he took less than 2 FTs a game last year, so you might as well have him shooting from where the baskets count more. He seems to be a bit of a headcase though, I don’t know if you could get him to buy into that
Resigning precious or finding someone in summer leagu… I think I might want the gem in the rough at this point given our capital trajectory. He’s fun but not a great basketball player. Fretting seems childish.
Doogie, love calls is definitely basketball related. Just not related to you. Very sexy song that is guaranteed to sway the mood. You might look at your partner(s) and smile. It might even make you giggle. But when you get to the hookor breakdown or whatever it’s called you’re gonna wanna kiss or dance up on them. It goes a longgggg way to connecting your sexual vibe to someone who doesn’t give a shit about the Knicks like you do and never can. Maybe I’ll find some do whop song for you sometime? Maybe connect four us more your thing. Either way, check it out gurl.

You started off by writing that the song is related to basketball and then went on to give several reasons as to how it’s *not at all* related to basketball. You even alluded to how it’s not for basketball fans when you wrote that the song is for “…….someone who doesn’t give a shit about the Knicks like you do and never can.”
And as I wrote yesterday, I am not a girl. And I’m definitely not a “gurl,” because it’s not even a word.
Ok gurl
But also you only read what you wanted to Karen. I think preciousis not a priority and we can find 100 percent of his value if we look wide and far and cheap. So you are utterly and definitively wrong on how I started.
You’re blessed. Carry on gurl.
It seems likely the only reason they haven’t signed Precious is because there are still trades/deals involving a superior player being discussed. To his credit, Precious seems to be waiting because it was at least rumored that there were other contenders interested in him. I have to think either the deals available to him are not as attractive as what the Knicks will offer if their other potential deals fall through. So he’s willing to take a small risk and wait. Make sense?
Still not a girl, a “Karen,” or a “gurl.” You can write that a million times and you’d still be incorrect a million times. 🙂
What does any of that have to do with basketball, anyway? LOL
Precious gems are hard to find, that’s a good way to end up with half a dozen rocks that get cut after 10 days.
Losing in the playoffs because we decided to save $6M and fielded Jericho Sims instead of Precious doesn’t seem prudent. At worst, you use Achiuwa’s salary as trade fodder. Paying him is a win-win.

That all makes a lot of sense, and indeed is what I have been relying upon in terms of what is going on behind the scenes. I hope that we’re both right about that. I just wish that it would get resolved one way or another sooner rather than later.

Totally agree.
Hmm. Walker Kessler is not on the Jazz’s Vegas roster anymore.
“Hmm. Walker Kessler is not on the Jazz’s Vegas roster anymore.”
I wish that could mean something to me, but it actually doesn’t. We already made our offer, and he’s not on our roster. (Anyone remember his uncle Alec—RIP—who played for the Heat in the early ’90s?)
If we lose in the playoffs because we signed or failed to sign Precious, then how does that guys say it – Tear down. Precious is not a gem he’s someone we like who happened to play for the Knicks last year. If we can find someone better, despite how hard they hard they are to find, then we should at least look. There’s gotta be some big bottomed baller out there just waiting for Leon and company, and if there isn’t there’s gotta be something in the works that Leon thinks he can extract a big bottom from another team. I would love previous back in happy to root for him. I don’t think he’s a roast chicken though.
You may not be a girl, you are a Karen, you’re my gurl… unfortunately Doogir sometimes gurls tighten the knot of confusion into perfect misunderstanding.
Phew, thank goodness we have this 100% correct inside information.
Sims is draining threes as we speak, fueled by his haterz. I’m happy to give him a try at some backup minutes.
We should probably re-sign Precious because:
1) we have his Bird Rights
2) he’s better than the remaining vet-min options, as far as I can tell
It’s as simple as that, IMO. We can use his salary in a trade if need be, but even if we bring in another center Precious’ ability to be an innings eater at the 4 and fake-5 spots proved to be pretty valuable last season.
That’s totally reasonable. We’re still gonna have to wait to see how many licks it takes Leon to get to the center.
It can take years to find someone better than Precious. We don’t have years.
We played Precious for 20min in a game we won by 5 against Philly. He was our 3rd option and it’s not clear we win that series without him. That’s 1 out of 5 games. This season he’s currently slated to play 20min every night in a best case scenario where Mitch is healthy. The difference between Sims and Precious for 20min a night can absolutely lose you a series. Ask Denver fans how bad they missed Jeff Green, who is absolute garbage, but better than any diamond they could find this past season.
Even if we find our diamond in the rough, if Mitch gets hurt would we rather run Sims/Diamond or Precious/Diamond?
actually, my cat’s name is “gurl”….
it’s not unusual for a relative vet to be taken out of summer league early.
ayton is not a good idea.
Honestly we don’t need a diamond we need a precious and I think you’re overestimating his value. But I do think we need it to be him or someone better. I don’t think it’s as hard to find a precious as it is to find a diamond. But if we don’t trade into the gold foil on our sushi then I’m all for resigning precious which seems to be entirely on the table. Maybe they’ve had a conversation and precious has yet to find a better situation and Leon is like lemme cook and we’ll make it the best we can for you and lemme know if someone wants you over for dinner and we’ll see where we’re at.
It didn’t make a lot of sense for him to be there to begin with unless it was a showcase for interested parties. Of course that doesn’t mean anyone budged from their original offers.
If they are going to trade him, they may want to see for who and how much salary they have to match before offering him a contract.
If all we need is a Precious, and we have a Precious, why are we trying to look elsewhere for a Precious? Does the extra couple million save us from some tax consequence this year or next?
Maybe we save some money, but optimizing the cap sheet doesn’t grant us bonus wins.
Leon’s job is not to get basketball players it’s to get better basketball players. If he can’t, well nice try. One would think that precious wants the NY gig because he’ll definitely get to play and NY can pay him, but maybe, just maybe there’s a better basketball player to fill that role and why are we rushing to give up a shot at that.
Gollum approves this message. 😀
Your cat’s in club. Love your cat.
IMO we are not going to contend for a title if Mitch gets hurt, is out long term, and Precious is our backup C.
IMO there’s a HUGE difference between having a healthy high quality starting C and Precious as you backup and having Mitch as your starter and Precious as your backup. We need a higher quality backup than the typical team because of the greater risk Mitch will be out for an extended period of time that could include the playoffs.
We are no longer in a multi year process of building where we can get away with being weak at a position. We have to have a solid backup C and PG either going into the season or at worst at the trade deadline if we are serious about this year, but preferably now if possible. Summer league may address the backup PG situation, but it’s very unlikely to yield the C we need this year.
A little confession here, I don’t wait five minutes after my water boils before I pour it over my coffee grounds. Does that make me a bad boy?
I would give up one of the fugazy firsts and any one player from our summer league roster for Kessler. It might be seen as an overpay, but he’s a proven NBA center, who would fit our team’s defensive scheme and be good Mitch insurance. Anything beyond that and Ainge can get lost. What would anyone else offer?
“You may not be a girl, you are a Karen, you’re my gurl… unfortunately Doogir sometimes gurls tighten the knot of confusion into perfect misunderstanding.”
I’m definitely not a girl. I’m definitely not a Karen. I’m even more definitively not a “gurl,” which doesn’t exist. I’m even more definitively not *your* anything. And I don’t care how girls tighten knots of anything. None of that has anything to do with basketball.
And it’s “Doogie,” not “Doogir.” Not sure where you’d even get an idea that there might be a letter “r” in there. Lastly, none of that has anything to do with basketball.
“A little confession here, I don’t wait five minutes after my water boils before I pour it over my coffee grounds. Does that make me a bad boy?”
No, it makes you kind of an idiot for posting that on a basketball forum. None of that has anything to do with basketball.
Oh got it. So if you want out of the gurls club don’t talk to me. I can take a hint. I’ll respect your boundaries if you respect mine. But if you’re talking to me or about me just know you’re always gonna be one of my gurls goobie.
GURL! I might be an idiot but at least I’m hot.
This thread is reaching highs, or lows of sublime poetry.
I was never in any “gurls club” in the first place, so I don’t need to get out of it. 🙂 I was only writing to you to let you know that this is a basketball forum, and that we only write about basketball-related content here. No coffee content, no bagel content, no blowjob content, no urinal content, no other random food content, no farting content, etc. I’m sure you get the idea. (I take that back. I’m *not* sure you get the idea.)
And it’s “Doogie,” not “goobie.” That was dumb even for an intentional misspelling. LOL
“GURL! I might be an idiot but at least I’m hot.”
I highly, highly, *highly* doubt that. And it also has nothing to do with basketball. This is a basketball forum.
I’m OK with that, but I’m not sure about which player I’d give up without seeing more.
In other words history repeats itself, first as a tragedy (z-man vs. dj), second as farce (E vs. the field) and now it’s Doogie vs. Clarence and good old Karl is at a loss for words.
Kessler for a fugazi 1st and a rookie seems like great value for us.
I find it hard to believe…any of the braintrust is fully on board with precious being the backup C at playoff time..no freakin way…the dude is barely a passable backup 4…he is not close to a suitable backup C for at team that has aspirations for a deep playoff run…but that shit will straighten itself out…not sure what the big deal is in mid July….maybe snake eyes will come up and huckabee will be the magic elixir…but dunkin on Josh Giddey’s cousin is a bit different then doing it in the NBA…looking forward to seeing him toss up those nice looking lefty fadeaway jumpers tomorrow…i can’t remember another lefty big with that type of fadeaway game…maybe Rudy Macklin..I think he may have been a knick at one time..
Has anyone mentioned Jock Landale? Maybe he’s ready for a larger role (he plays behind Sengun).

I bet Precious (s&t) and a 2nd would get this done. He makes 8M AAV and is under contract until 2027.
Also our aussies would approve this move. Btw, who are the aussies around here nowadays? I remember dtrickey, but i think he doesn’t post in a long time. But there were others i’m not remembering the name… Geo, i need help on this! 😉
Listen here Doo, I clearly don’t know the rules of anything anywhere at any time. I’m just hanging on for dear life here. But if somehow, someway you are the arbiter of what’s okay to say and not then holy shit I’m gonna have to eat a whole lot more acid to figure that shit out.
Also don’t be a mean gurl
My only wish is that “Clarence” somehow figures out that this basketball forum is the wrong place for his content and then posts only basketball content. Or doesn’t post at all…….that would be fine by me, too, as it was fine by me before he ever showed up a short while back.
I thought at first that a rookie plus a mediocre first would be OK for Kessler, but after thinking it through realized that the only two rookies I wouldn’t mind giving up right now are McCullar and Hukporti (I like Hukporti, but we wouldn’t need him if we got Kessler). We need Kolek, and I love the potential upside of Dadiet. The other guys on the Summer League team will likely never play meaningful minutes for us, so they’re all up for grabs, as far as I’m concerned.
wemby and rudy vs jokic about to start
One of my many wishes is that Doogie only posts about basketball and never school marms again. Hoping that this shift in their mentality leads to an unexpected opening of joy and opportunity elsewhere. But if little doogie persists then my secondary one of my many wishes is that they choose to never mention my name or awful posting because I personally find the whole thing awkward and that’s boooooooo. Let’s agree to that Doogie. Can we be Clarence and Doogie or Clarence and doogie.
I fully agree that Precious can’t be the full time back up center, and especially not behind someone with as many health concerns as Mitch. I’d still prefer to re-sign him to keep the asset/salary slot in house, and because he’s a cromulent backup 4/5 in the event of injuries. Plus he’s still only going to be 25 on opening night, so who knows, maybe there’s some upside left. I doubt it but we don’t have much to lose from finding out.
As I see it, we have one very clear need remaining and it’s a backup center fully capable of starting if need be. I have no illusions about such a player being easy to find so Leon’s still got some work cut out for him.
Kessler would fit the bill, but I tend to assume negotiations with Ainge go nowhere.
We’ve had a lot of trolls here, myself included, but man, this Doogie/Beeks bromance is worse than any of them — at least those guys talked about basketball!
This is just pages and pages of nonsense that sounds like excerpts from Terrence Howard’s memoirs.
Jock is a pretty decent player, he’d be a fine backup. The problem is finding a guy who is good enough to start when Mitch gets hurt. I guess we don’t need that at the begining of the season but we should be actively looking
“I’m definitely not a girl. I’m definitely not a Karen. I’m even more definitively not a “gurl,” which doesn’t exist. I’m even more definitively not *your* anything. And I don’t care how girls tighten knots of anything. None of that has anything to do with basketball.

Just to be clear, Doogie, none of your endless responses to Clarence are about basketball, either. So you too can stop.
“One of my many wishes is that Doogie only posts about basketball and never school marms again. I’ve only been posting about non-basketball content when responding to the crap that you write; I haven’t been initiating any non-basketball content on my own. (For example, no school marms came to mind until you wrote about them first. But that’s just one of many examples.) And Clown Pags, I’m *trying* to write only basketball content. Please write to the other dude about posting non-basketball stuff. 🙂
Cheese and Rice! You’re appealing to a clown!
Doogie you couldn’t be further off. You are totally wrong. You are gaslighting everybody on this thread. You have crossed a line and I will not stand for it any more. I am the one who first wrote about a school marm. It was one week ago today at exactly 15:46 EDT. Check it out, you might like what you see… https://knickerblogger.net/2024/07/05/knicks-morning-news-2024-07-05/
He’s not really a clown; it’s just the persona he uses for his screen name. It’s the same as the reality that you are not *actually* Clarence Beeks. You *can* understand that, right?
And now…….back to basketball-related content, please.
I’m mistaken, then. Whoever wrote about school marms first shouldn’t have done so for this forum, whether it was you, “Clarence,” or anyone else. The only thing I knew for certain was that it wasn’t me. Look up gaslighting, as it’s not at all what I am doing. My only complaints are misspellings (especially intentional ones, and especially for players’ names) and writing about non-basketball-related stuff. There is no psychological aspect to it. Those are things that people are *actually* posting, not things that I’m trying to make people *think* they posted. 🙂 My mistake regarding “school marm” was a simple misremembering of a post from a week or so ago.
And now…….back to basketball-related content, please.
So…when do we know whether Brunson took the deal or not?
Doogie, nobody here hired you to be the site doorman or cop. You don’t like his commentary, fine. Ignore it. Your having to post something every time he writes a) causes him to post more, the exact opposite of what you purport to wish to see happen, which makes all of us question your underlying motivations, and b) is borderline pathological, which is icky.
The fact that ban hammers have become a topic of discussion suggests you need to cool your jets. And don’t go all infantile “I’ll stop if he’ll stop.” Just stop. You’re responsible for yourself. Show a modicum of maturity.
— The School Marm
Doogie, are you an undercover cop or something. Is someone paying you to correct my posting or keep the order around here. If so I will definitely leave. If not, I’m kindly asking you to skip my posts and not mention me anymore. I’m here to read peoples thoughts about the Knicks and share mine. I’m neuro-atypical so it’s just how it goes for me. If that’s difficult for you to experience just skip my posts. If the powers that be think I’m making this place worse they’ll tell me to stop or go elsewhere.
This truly is a morality play. It’s like Everyman, if Everyman were about a very specific guy with a very idiosyncratic love of linguistic prescriptivism.
As if Doogie’s elitist shtick wasn’t boring enough, we got a whole new chapter of gibberish today.
It’s not like there is much basketball happening to actually discuss, but this new chapter is just plainly confusing.
This blog is being ruined by 2 posters, despite a few others trying to reset conversations. Brian? Mike? Owen (despite seeing Nick Kyrgios in a championship Celtic shirt at Wimbledon)?
September Gurls is actually a pretty good tune.
I’ve tried to re-set conversations to be about basketball many times just today…….I count approximately 10 times. Why is it that when I do it I am deemed as trying to be “forum police” of some sort, but it’s perfectly OK when others say pretty much the same exact thing? LOL
from espn+ “top player to watch in summer league for each team article” today:
New York Knicks
Tyler Kolek | Guard
The Knicks’ precarious luxury tax situation means hitting singles and doubles along the margins of their roster is increasingly important. That’s why nailing some of the four picks the team made in the draft could be impactful. The main one to watch in summer league is Kolek, who fits the mold of player coach Tom Thibodeau often gravitates to with his grit, smarts and competitiveness. It will also be interesting to see how far away 18-year-old first-round pick Pacome Dadiet is from being ready to help the Knicks defensively. —
Golden State Warriors
Kevin Knox II | Forward
When Knox last played summer league in 2019, he was a featured player for the Knicks coming off his rookie season as the No. 9 pick. Now Knox, who turns 25 next month, is trying to resurrect his career after being waived twice last season. Demonstrating improved 3-point shooting will be key for Knox, a career 34% shooter who shot 33% beyond the arc in 31 games for the Pistons in 2023-24. —
that was a good one pags 🙂
i gotta give doogie some credit though, clarence seems like a pretty thick skinned dude, somehow doogie found a way under it (we all have cracks in our armor)…
it was interesting to see clarence try a few different ploys to throw doogie off his trail, all to no avail…
it was kind of funny to see how outrageous clarence might get to try to shake off doogie, nope not happening…
listen, none of us are perfect – lord knows i can be annoying even to myself – but damn doogie you have some serious anti-social tendencies…
at this stage of life, it may be too late to change…
none of us are perfect – we can try to be better though…
At least today we get to learn what happens when an unstoppable neuro-atypical meets an immovable dork.
I’m not one to complain. I certainly don’t want anyone barred. I’ve made my share off topic posts and had trouble letting some issues go, but please, can we put this nonsense rest and talk basketball?
I mean Frank is hitting 3s left and right for team France and we have an open roster spot! 😉

Beeks-in 2: Electric Doog-aloo
Also the idea that this is purely a basketball blog is a fantasy and has demonstrably never been true. KitchenBlogger and MusicBlogger are some of the higher points in our collective history and were certainly more fun than arguing about Fr*nk Nt*likina for thousands of posts
Here’s a little micro-MusicBlogger not-so-humblebrag: I’m currently at a session in Laurel Canyon, and the bass player is Pino Palladino, who is one of the greatest bassists of all time.
steal one of his picks for me…

Laugh out loud funny!
I have to think there is close to no chance Brunson takes that deal. It’s over $100MM less than the deal he can sign at the end of this season.
Although it seemed a bit speculative, a just saw a news article for a Spanish sports newspaper saying that Jokubaitis is close to signing with Zalgiris Kaunas.
I would not give it too much credence, but it is true that Barcelona just signed another PG (Juan Nuñez, 2nd round pick of the Spurs in this draft), which leaves him in a bad position if he stays. And maybe he is also thinking that the Knicks will not offer him a contract.
But as Katz and others have explained, he then gets a potentially much bigger reward on his next deal that more or less balances things out, while giving him security right now in case he gets Isaiah Thomas’ed.
Maybe we should place a wager on it?
If Rokas plays well in summer league, maybe Ainge would take him and a fugazy for Kessler. He would have more of a chance to play in Utah.

HOLY FUCK BRUNSON DID THE DAMN THING!
Can we make him Mayor or something?
Put a Brunson statue in front of MSG
Good thing you didn’t bet with Alan. 🙂
Happy for Brunson and us.
Dammit, I didn’t get Hubert to commit to a wager in advance!
It’s a very strong possibility, rumors about a move to Zalgiris surfaced in March, when insiders started to whisper about Barca’s intention to get out of the last year of his contract.
Now the talks are about a 3 years deal.
BTW Zalgiris is coached by his former Barcelona coach, lithuanian legend and NBAer Šarūnas Jasikevičius.
He needs a scintillating Summer League to have a (very) little chance for the last spot on the Knicks, or to serve as a trade assets for a move, otherwise he’ll probably bounded to get home in Kaunas.
If I have to bet today he’s out, but maybe he saved himself all season just to blow us away this summer.
Great news about Brunson! Lead us to Canyon Of Heroes JB!
+1 LOL
How rich that Doogie doesn’t like someone’s idiosyncratic and incessant posting style… Seems like there’s a lesson in there somewhere if you really focus. Well done, Beeks.
New celebration thread!

Wow, that’s amazing. I also think this is very good for the chemistry, to have the commitment of your leader beyond the purely financial decisions.
Leon better Werk!
