Nice to see the Cavs drop two games without Mitchell. Seems like he’s just sick, though, and will be back.

I put a healthy Kawhi right up there with Tatum, and Tatum will always have that brutal Finals performance on his resume

To win a single game/series I’m still taking Kawhi over Tatum. Other than that he’s competing with Haliburton and Booker mainly.

Also looks like Deuce is out sick for tonight. Getting clobbered by the Celtics on national TV is going to be tough to take.

Overdue writeup of Precious’ tenure with us from Katz: https://theathletic.com/5296227/2024/02/24/precious-achiuwa-knicks-rotation/

He’s been a bright spot in these bleak, six-healthy-player games. I haven’t tried to project what the fully healthy rotation looks like because that feels so far off and it feels like we lose players more quickly than they heal, but I see no way Precious is a full-time pine rider if we ever get to that point.

He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who needs consistent minutes to produce, so even if it it’s 5-10 minutes for a specific defensive matchup I bet we see him in the playoffs.

It’s kinda funny that we quietly solved the whole “no conventional backup power forward” problem, it’s just that no one noticed because by the time we did it Precious was not our backup power forward. He was our leading minutes man.

In a vacuum you’d probably play precious or bojan to back up randle depending on the game or the matchup, but idk if Thibs has that in him

In addition to Kawhi, I would take 39 year old LeBron over Tatum if I were gearing up for a playoffs run. I’d also take Jimmy Butler. And probably SGA.

    And probably SGA.

Only if Alan Alda’s 18th to last film ended differently.

Edit: Alan (not Alda) beat me to it, in part because I was trying to impress him!

I don’t think anyone takes Donovan Mitchell, Hali, or Brunson but they’ve made strong cases for themselves this year.

It’s harder to fit them into a team with their (lack of) defense, but offensively they’re probably better than any of the big wings right now.

Curry shouldn’t be written off yet either

Kawhi achieves a Jordanesque level in the playoffs. Problem is actually keeping him healthy enough to play there.

    Snap, I forgot.

I dunno, I’m just a huge non-believer in Jayson Tatum. I know he’s a great basketball player but I’ve seen him shrink too many times to believe.

Add Steph & KD to the list, too.

Curry, LeBron, Butler, Lillard, Durant, Leonard… Tatum is demonstrably younger than all of them, but not demonstrably better.

The Celtics have literally no one on their injury report.

Their starters have missed a total of 29 games this year (15 by Porzingis, which is a miracle for him).

    That’s some leprechaun shit.

I’m not sure Precious will be much worse on KP than Mitch or iHart. The extra mobility and familiarity playing on the perimeter could be helpful. On the other hand, KP can just shoot over him.

Well, not that I’d wish injury on anyone, but maybe the Celtics luck will run out when the playoffs start?

Problem is assuming the same starting lineup as vs Philly, Precious will probably have to cover Tatum.

True, that’s probably where we want him anyway.

Sims might not be bad on KP either. I think he struggles with team defense but does well 1-on-1. He’ll be too far from the paint for team defense to matter anyway.

Slow clap, Bernie. Not a great movie, but some very funny things in it, like the rant against the metric system.

I see no issue putting Bojan on KP, either. Not like he blows by people.

Of course it all depends on what the doctors order 😉

I remember JVG being criticized when he mentioned something similar after the Curry Warriors had won their first title about a decade ago, but the truth is that health is an absolutely indispensable condition of winning.
