2023-24 Game Thread: Knicks @ Wizards (Knicks In-Season Tournament Favorite Opener, also not a thing)

The Knicks continue their In-Season Tournament (which, by the way, is the most hilarious name for a tournament ever. “What’s the NBA’s in-season tournament called?” “The NBA In-Season Tournament.” “Third base!”) journey by heading to Washington, D.C. to kick the ass of a shitty Wizards team. This would bring the Knicks’ record to 1-1 in their bracket. The best record of each bracket qualifies to advance, but so does the best record of the three brackets to not win their bracket, so let’s hope the Knicks win this one easily so that they have a shot at either winning the bracket or winning the Wild Card (you could argue that the best case scenario is going 3-1 but missing out on the tournament advancement, so that they could then beat up on the losers some more, like play Washington another time instead of having to play a good team in the elimination tournament).

The line jumped earlier today, so hopefully that means RJ is back tonight.

A win tonight would get them back closer on track to my 53 win prediction, so let’s make sure they get that going.

Let’s go, Knicks!

Fuck!
Exploring if RJ’s start is true or false is the main reason to watch the games these days…

RJ and Grimes is a tough 2-some to lose.

We know that Deuce is #10 in the pecking order. Who is #11? Sims? *gasp* Fournier?

Was interesting to see that graphic of Julius’ last five games, 25-10-5, 35% from three. Hope he’s back full time.

It’s kind of funny that for all the talk of RJ’s breakout, and Obi’s unleashing, it’s actually Kevin Knox who is winning the Small Sample Knicks Draft Bust Reconsideration Award so far: TS% .938! (And he can take advil for headaches, too!)

divo may be a bit heavy on the throttle at times, but he hasn’t had a single low energy stint this year

The usual get off to a great start then not give a shit about defense anymore pattern by the Knicks.

I remember when Knox was drafted, analysts said he was a kind of project and would need time to mature. I don’t think any of us were thinking that meant six years, but it seems like that’s what it is.

Late summer pickup game vibes, the Wiz are a punching bag and we’re punching enough even without RJ and Glue…

Let’s get this over quick…

The Wizard’s gray court with the turquoise racing stripe is an eyesore. It looks like a malfunctioning TV screen

Washington’s fans justifiably booing after Deuce out hustled two of their players

Deuce, man. Keep it up. Forced a steal/turnover in his first minute. Another one there. Yes, please.

i thought jordan poole might lead the league in scoring while still sucking at basketball. looks like he’s just going with the latter.

Scoring, stealing, causing turnovers, taking charges. And you want to trade him for some bojan?

Poole has put together a highlight reel of shenanigans in his Wizards tenure already that’s longer than what Nick Young did in his entire career.

RJ’s on the bench tonight. Is that the first time during his migraine problem? Good sign?

Not everyone can score on a break when there’s one or two defenders back (see Quick earlier). Josh Hart can do it every damn time.

Classic Bad Julius. Dribble, dribble, dribble, lose the ball, complain to the ref, jog down to watch the 5-on-4 three-point shot go in.

Hello Geo!

I’m fine thanks and how you doing my friend? 🙂

It’s “Ossobuco alla milanese con risotto giallo” (milanese style veal shank with yellow risotto)

Here you go 😉

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaW-5JLoEr4&t=0s

I was thinking of making ossobuco as an alternative Thanksgiving meal. It’ll probably be something else but I bookmarked the video.

veal shank with risotto – yum yum yum…

i’m well thank you max…it looks like my friend is getting closer to moving out here…

i don’t know if it’s cause of my health or just my nature, i’ve roomed with a couple of buddies before for six month or so, but never really cohabitated with someone i was romantic with…

fortunately i met my friend back in ’91, somehow she’s managed to put up with me as a friend for a long time…i don’t stay connected to people easily…

so, i’ve been bob the builder around the house for the last few months…i’m tired, however – shit is looking very domesticated though around the home…

it’s doesn’t look so much anymore like i’m a single dad of three who’s been a bachelor his whole life…

we are as family, so numero uno for me is just making sure her transition back here to cali (we met in monterey where she’s from) goes smoothly and successfully…

daughter’s a little weird about it, middle son a bit too…youngest though is pretty rock steady and secure in things…vada con dio, it’s all you can do 🙂

oh shoot – went with beef stew tonight…i just had a craving for beef/potatoes/carrots/peppers in a lovely thick gravy…eating it with some sourdough…and fucking lowfat milk, damn va dietician scared me off organic whole milk…i love organic whole milk…love my toes/teeth/fingers much more though 😛

oh yeah – what’s the thing with divo milo…i would have guessed you to be more of a b-52’s fan back in the day…

seems like randle’s shot block numbers are unfairly depressed because he just stands in the paint with his hands down

Was Randle actually in the paint for that one? Hard to tell because he didn’t bother moving towards the guy

Randle needs to switch from chamomile tea to Red Bull at the half (he said, deviating from his usual meds accusation…).

I’m not sure if RJ’s migraine is from these stupid in-season tournament court paint jobs…but mine is. Go Nova York!

Looks like it’s all Nova York

nice…

i always liked the DDV moniker cause it reminds me of jake the snake’s DDT…damn, donte may be able to leap over the top rope from the ground…

julius looks soooooo gassed…it’s like he’s on this rollercoaster where he gets really amped, and then gasses out after a while…

Julius has a 1.283.040 good reasons (his ASG roster bonus) to shoot technical FTs, pointzzz matters…

But he shouldn’t…

P.S.
And his “defense” on Kuzma on the last play was ugly

i want things to work out for evian…play well…

deuce looks ready to go…

he’s in serious slo-mo mode – julius is trying though…

Edit: okay, he’s stuck in cement shoes on defense…i think he’s got health issues, and i’m really sympathetic to it…

Our last defensive possession of the 3rd quarter will not be going on the season highlight reel

We have zero killer instinct. Keep letting our guard down against shitty teams instead of stepping on their throats. So frustrating.

what is the worst thing that can happen…now move forward…look at that – evian raining bricks…

it’s good that he’s taking the shots though…we have that going for us…

it feels good…

whoa, look at that, double head bands…evian needs a headband…

If I were Jalen Brunson I would simply combine my three point shooting of this year with my two point shooting of last year and win the MVP

Fournier showing why he’s been getting DNP-CDs.

He’s proving the point. Honestly, he was playing hard but wasn’t in rhythm and he clearly hasn’t any chemistry with the rotation players.

Yeah Fournier played pretty good D tonight but tough to see him shoot that bad even though it’s understandable.

The Wizards are like the island of misfit toys

And that Lets Go Knicks chant is just embarrassing

Things like Evan Fournier getting extended minutes by game 12 are why I was never worried about our allegedly crippling minutes crunch

It seems like Knicks don’t have a killer instinct but out of their 7 wins this will be their 5th by double digits.

If I were Jalen Brunson I would simply combine my three point shooting of this year with my two point shooting of last year and win the MVP

Someone get Tom Thibodeau to read this

If I were Jalen Brunson I would simply combine my three point shooting of this year with my two point shooting of last year and win the MVP

He might be runner up to Quickley

Edit: His eyes turn into dollar signs every time he shoots

IQ didn’t start but he played 33 mins which was 3rd on the team behind Randle and Brunson.

Thibs could have pulled Quickley sooner before he scored a few more points and helped make himself more expensive next off season.

Ugh we won but nothing to right home about. Wizards might be the worst team in the league and were only down 5 in the 4th. But I thought the Knicks slept walk through that game on both ends.

Nice to see IQ play in front of mom. In a world filled with bad moments, that was wholesome.

stop the presses – assassins’ creed comes in vr now…

I wonder how much longer we’ll keep presses actually running, they’re not far off from being stopped permanently

i like having a book in my hand to read…if winds of winter ever comes out – god willing i’m still alive whenever that occurs – i’ll be having that in hand…with large print…

Is it too early to start lobbying for Brunson to be in the 3 point contest?

Gee, you think the Brunson/Quickley lineup might work?

Jordan Poole makes Randle look like a basketball savant.

Someone please trade for Gallo. He does not deserve to be in basketball hell at this stage of his career.

Miles Bridges made his return tonight and looked OK. Didn’t help Charlotte.

I’m not sure we should be playing Fournier if we are hoping to use him in a trade. He might get hurt or keep throwing up bricks. At least he played hard. Has to be frustrating for him.
