Dred, Jowles, Z-man, Caven, Silverman, Farfa and Ptmilo are definitely tier 1. Mike K and Cronin are tier God is an Admin. Sorry Donnie, limited volume keeps you at tier 2.”

    Thanks, darules, I’m honored!

I omitted a bunch of other greats, EB for example, but we need to see this all star level production for a longer time. But tier 2 definitely has promising talent.

I’m about to take a 6 hour drive and am psyching myself up by watching Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle highlight reels from last year.

Brunson is just so much fun to watch and root for. I hope he plays for us long enough and successfully enough for his jersey to hang from the MSG rafters.

One thing that stood out in the Randle highlights was how often he threw down ferocious dunks. He seems to have had more lift than ever. I am hoping that his ankle surgery doesn’t compromise that…or maybe even helps is since he will obviously be rehabbing with a vengeance once he is fully healed.

Sorry Donnie, limited volume keeps you at tier 2.

Cavan and Silverman haven’t posted here since the Layden administration, but that’s cool. Tier 2 is still much higher than I deserve, seeing as I’m a Russian troll bot.

This Harden/Morey stuff is like bad soap opera. Harden is so dug in now I can’t see how he can back down and still save face but according to some CBA rule Morey still has the power next year if Harden sits out.

    It’s an interesting dynamic.

I’m not sure who I dislike more, Harden or Morey. Sometimes you just have to go with all the above.

I think Morey is in a very weak position and unlike Ben S, is 100% responsible for it. Harden must have gotten some assurance that he would be traded to the Clippers if he opted in. Why else would he do it? And the Clippers would logically know this and put together a trade package whose value reflects this. I think if it went to court/arbitration Harden becomes a UFA (if that’s what he wants) and Morey is sacked.

I think Morey is in a very weak position

Harden initially agreed to take a 15 million dollar pay cut to make room for additional players (and be a “team first guy”), but probably had a handshake agreement to get a max extension after that.

Then Morey didn’t come through with the max deal.

He didn’t opt out because there were no max free agent deals available to him, but he probably had a handshake agreement to be traded.

Now Morey is refusing to trade him for what the Clippers are offering.

From what I read, if Harden doesn’t play, there is a rule that allows Morey to prevent Harden from becoming a free agent next year. So he can’t even hold out. He has to show up and play or be traded.

Morey may be out soon, but Harden is not in a good position unless I am misunderstanding something.

Morey is a bloodless dick. Only such a person would put up a giant recruiting banner of Carmelo Anthony wearing Jeremy Lin’s number while Lin was still on the roster. I don’t think he ever gave a shit about team culture or chemistry or loyalty. He’s the ultimate moneyball nerd with seemingly little regard for the players behind the numbers.

He’s an excellent team executive by the numbers, but he was handed a favorable situation in Philly and fucked it up. I’d take Leon over him every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Stein: “The Celtics say Kristaps Porzingis has been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in his right foot and will engage in a four-to-six-week rehab program that rules him out of the @FIBAWC for Latvia. Porzingis is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.”

Cavan and Silverman haven’t posted here since the Layden administration

It was the best of times for comic writing, wasn’t it? Then it escalated during the Bargs years. Those Bargs GIFs were still probably the highlight of the Knicks’ 21st century.

He has to show up and play or be traded.

If this is the case, Philly might be the ultimate league pass trainwreck watch team this year. Harden might balloon up into eddie curry territory!

From what I read, if Harden doesn’t play, there is a rule that allows Morey to prevent Harden from becoming a free agent next year. So he can’t even hold out. He has to show up and play or be traded.

In Harden’s case, as you say, he needs to be signed to be able to be traded to a team with no cap space like the Clippers. So the hold-out rule preventing his FA isn’t that powerful because he prefers not to be a FA. In June Harden could have walked out with Morey getting nothing in return. It was in both their interests for him to opt in even with the “trade me only to the Clippers” condition attached. When news of the end of talks with the Clippers came out, I figured it was Morey holding out for more but with a clear confidential message to Harden that he will be traded before next season. That has not happened so I can only assume Morey doesn’t value his own personal integrity that highly.

I think it’s likely to make for either poor or misguided basketball on Harden’s part. He could choose to play differently than the coach wants or just be sluggish or out of shape because he doesn’t want to be there. It’s really a shame.

I have a very hard time believing Daryl Morey promised James Harden he would trade him to the Clippers for whatever bullshit package they can put together.

I’m also of the opinion that the Sixers are going to be just fine without him. Maxey and Embiid is plenty.

A rhyme to start the day, as Brunson is Tier 3B, so i have to say, that i tottaly disagree. 😀

harden talking shit about morey… in china… where morey is probably the most hated guy in the nba over his past taiwan comments…

everyone got baited…. including the chinese who can’t help give harden all their money….

I’m clearly in my 2015-and-onward Udonis Haslem years though

Dude, you’re a solid six years younger than Haslem. You got miles to go.

Top heavy salary teams with no depth are very difficult to manage in current NBA culture. With Al nearing 40yrs old, KP going through a plantar fasciatis phase, the teams lack of soul with Marcus Smart sent to Memphis and a 50/50 coach, – the odd makers may be under estimating Boston’s considerable systemic risk.

I’ve reached a stage in life where I’m scouring my subscribed streaming services for movies to add to my watchlists…

    what have I become…

    basketball wise 🙂

I no longer find myself not actively rooting against other teams because the knicks themselves are a total basket case – but now I feel on any given night we should be competitive in each and every game…

I expect (okay, maybe just hope) that we make the garden a competitive advantage for us this season…

if you’re not otherwise indisposed – quick question for you donnie?

when you think of the knicks – is it us or them?

I must say, during more than one rough season, adopting a very non-committed emotional stance towards the knicks has worked marvelously well for my overall well-being…

now that we don’t suck anymore – I’m all in again on the “us” factor of fandom…

I don’t think he ever gave a shit about team culture or chemistry or loyalty. He’s the ultimate moneyball nerd with seemingly little regard for the players behind the numbers.

He’s an excellent team executive by the numbers,

I used to say the same thing about Hinkie back in the days we used to debate what he was doing. Basketball players are not line items on a spreadsheet. If you treat them that way, it’s eventually going to come back and bite you in the ass. That’s why Hinkie is out of the NBA and Harden is blasting Morey publicly in China.

Sometimes you have to stop sweating very small overpays or taking back less than 100% full value on a trade over the short term to keep players and agents happy long term.

On your 2nd point, I think Morey is overrated. I’m not saying he’s bad, but he made a LOT of highly suspect/bad trades and signings over the years. He’s simply not that good.

ha, funny…one of my biggest challenges in work type writing was to try and eliminate the use of the word: I

it’s like some weird hidden narcissism trait…i used to have to proofread and correct myself over and over again…

i see though i am not alone in this affliction…

I’m clearly in my 2015-and-onward Udonis Haslem years though

True but still the winner of some epic battles against the all time greats. Congratulations 🎉

We’ve forgotten Ed Davis, tier-1 Knick legend

China is about ready to pay $100M for Harden to become a national and another $100M if he wins them a FIBA title

    Them.

But I’ve become so objective in life that I even refer to my family as them these days.

(In fact, the only time I ever think in terms of “us” is when it was us against Bob Neptune.)

Donnie, as I rewatch some of the “classics” like The Wire and Hot Fuzz and virtually everything by Quentin Tarantino and find an awful lot that I dislike, I find myself more and more feeling like a “we” with you. Cheers to the pretentious taste of advancing age, which I like to call “discerning,” and which further alienates me from my peers as some of them dive deeper into nostalgia, mostly through self-abuse by way of Star Wars et al. adult fandom. Now, for one more viewing of L’enfant

I find myself more and more feeling like a “we” with you.

As much as I’d like to return the sentiment, I have to say that my daughter went off to Bard recently and started dating a boy from Kingston, and almost every day I think “this little cock jowles better be really fucking honorable.” So, in my mind, there’s no “we”, it’s just me vs you. (But, like I said earlier, I’m turning objective, so I only hate you with the old and dying irrational part of my psyche).

That said, do you still like Mulholland Drive? What about The Beatles?
