Keegan Murray with 19 points in his debut and was 3-6 from three.

I know the Clippers are supposed to be contenders but the roster outside of George and Kawhi seems pretty meh.

Banchero came back to earth with a thud.

Mitchell seems to be settling in nicely in Cleveland – same can be said for Christian Wood. 14 foul shots last night.

It’s hilarious Philly is 0-3 and I am going to enjoy it

Mathurin has been great and he’s going to be a beast for years to come but I have to disagree on Banchero, so far he’s been better than advertised.

inefficiency is expected but he’s showing good chops as a passer and initiators, he’s already used as the fulcrum of the Magic’s offense and for another three weeks he’s still 19.
I watched all his games and between classic rookie mistakes there have been great offensive moves and well above average reads.
And the kid is not soft. Time is on his side.

Also, we must establish a rule, never say anything slightly negative about a player the Knicks are going to meet in the next game, it’s an easy jinx.

    🙂

    My apologies Max!

Wasn’t making a global comment on Banchero. Just noting his line was a little fugly last night.

What are you guys talking about? The stats of the year so far are from a player with 16.0 pts, 7.5 ast, 4.0 trb on 32 mpg. And all with ZERO turnovers.

    You’re right Cyber,
but we need to scout all the league in search of the next star to trade for…

    😉

The one thing this team has needed badly for so long is someone who can generate offense relatively effortlessly in the halfcourt. Brunson is the closest we’ve had to that, but even he has to go through 1 million different moves sometimes to get to the basket. And almost everybody else tends to either labor (RJ, Julius, IQ) or require someone else to set them up (Mitch, Obi).

One of the main selling points of Banchero was always his passing. Not terribly surprising.

And it really didn’t end up being a bad night for Banchero because he went 9-11 on FTs. I did not expect him to be this good this fast.

For me, efficiency was always the concern. We’ll see how it plays out but rookie efficiency isn’t too important

I reserve the right to change my mind at least 3-4 times this year, but I think we are one player (a legit #1 option) and some development away from being a contender.

It will interesting to see what happens when Grimes returns. By mid season we should know more about what kind of player he is and is likely to become, what kid of player Cam is and is likely to become, and what will happen with Fournier if both of those younger players deserve minutes.

Next two games should be considered must wins with how brutal the stretch afterwards is. If we can go in 3-1 to the Milwaukee game we should be in good shape. Hopefully Lamelo isnt back for the Charlotte game.

I don’t have any faith the Yankees will find someone better than Cashman, but they have to move. The Astros have Correa, Cole, Springer, etc. and they just keep churning guys out. They have an organization that produces players and we don’t. How much credit does Cashman really deserve for Aaron Judge anyway? And he’s the whole offense. And he’s about to walk.

The organizational philosophy is deficient. And he keeps sticking with it. You can’t go to war every fall with guys who can’t hit. And you have to be able to produce some pitchers who can start. The Astros threw some random dude out there against our $300mm man and he dominated.

    The era’s over.

Don’t know which would be worse — being a Yankees fan, or working/playing for the Yankees…

Banchero is exceeding my expectations. Orlando has a pretty long history of drafting guys who fail to live up to their hype, but he looks like a future star to me.

just checked my investment stuff year to date…

What did you do? You went to check if the money was still under the mattress? 😀

It’s hilarious Philly is 0-3 and I am going to enjoy it

The Lakers are 0-3 and I am enjoying it, haha

The Lakers bench is made up of guys who look like they should be on the Washington Generals

The Jets finally draft a franchise running back and he gets carried off the field with a knee injury in game 7.

Our old friend Dennis Smith Jr may be healthy and playing himself into a job in Charlotte

Unbelievable. Jets and Giants both win. AGAIN. and Brady and Rogers both lose. Again.

    Sometimes football is fun.

I have previously discussed my mixed feelings regarding the Giants winning so much in what was meant to be a rebuilding year where a high draft pick would be very helpful. At this point, screw it. Playoffs or bust, baby!

Thanks EB! The trolls have been awfully quiet recently – guessing it also has to do with an 111-win team getting KO’d in the ALDS.

Our football team won the inaugural Clash of the Presidents game last night, thankfully! Made it a nail biter when they didn’t have to – we were up 20-7 midway thru the 4th Q when the jitters hit: offense started tripping over themselves and stalled while the D gave up some passes and penalties to let LBCC draw within 6 and get the ball with the chance to tie/win late. Defense held at the last minute on downs at our 20 yard line, and we were able to run out the clock.

Penalties play a huge role at this level of football largely bc of player immaturity/lack of self-discipline (if they had their act more together many wouldn’t be in juco to begin with). Almost 300 yards in penalties btwn both teams (we had 172, lol).

My dad was a diehard long-suffering Jets fan so I am really pulling for them this year. I’m finding myself more interested in how the Jets are doing than how “my” Raiders are doing.

Happy for all you Giants fans too. The surprisingly good play of the NY teams has been the story of the NFL season for me so far.

As a long-suffering Jets fan, I just don’t believe that what I’m seeing is real or sustainable. They have a very good defense and are playing about as well as they possibly can. I like the coach’s approach so far and his enthusiasm is infectious. Special teams seem like a real plus.

But the offensive line is being held together with scotch tape and safety pins, and losing Breece Hall is a massive blow. Zach is kinda fun but hasn’t won me over.

I’m enjoying it while it lasts, but this seems like a bridge team to some more personnel transactions in the next couple of offseasons.

On JetNation the Zach haters are in fine form. I mean, some guys are actually angry that the Jets continue to win with him not putting up big numbers, despite all these road wins against teams with pretty good defenses.

I’m not optimistic about him at all, but they’re 4-0 since he came off the IR and he’s been playing mostly turnover free football with generally lousy pass protection and all kinds of holding penalties by the offense.

I’m starting to slowly come around on Daniel Jones – there’s a lot of metrics out there that state that he’s been better than average when you factor in the overall offense and the quality of his pass catchers. Plus I’ve read that there’s been an overall denting in so many of these high-octane passing offenses because of various factors. The Giants are working with what they have, and the league has begun to trend back towards the running game/toned down offense. Sometimes, the stars line up for you even when you don’t plan for it.

For JK and the Raider fans, I’ll pivot and say I’ll now be pleased if Bryce Young ends up in silver n black.

Fair or not, the bar is higher for Zach because of where he was drafted. Getting a game manager at that spot would be very disappointing. I’m withholding judgment because he has maybe the worst/thinnest OL in the NFL in front of him, so it seems like he’s running for his life on every play. And he’s doing some really nice things out there!

But damn, why can’t the Jets ever have a true franchise quarterback that will go for 400+ yards and 4 TDs a few times every year? How many swings and misses in the top of the first round will it take?

I am not sure exactly how I feel about Danny Dimes. He’s definitely playing better, and the team is obviously winning. But so much of that has been due to the defense and the running game. (The latter of which, I must admit, Jones has been a big part of.) The passing game hasn’t been great, but how can you evaluate Jones on that when the team has the worst WR corps in the NFL and an interior offensive line that’s bad at pass blocking?

I still don’t know if he’s more than a game manager you can win with if all else is going well, akin to Ryan Tannehill. So the key, I guess, will be what kind of contract Schoen could negotiate with him for next season. Because with this record, it will be very hard to trade into the top 10 to draft a new franchise QB.

Don’t want to turn this into ELACBlogger (lol), but one other point about our football program:
A couple of weeks ago, one of our media associates who’s been around the program for many years noted that before our current AD/head coach (yes Mr #lolKnicksSupv) took the helm, the program had only produced one NCAA D1 transfer in recent memory. Now we’re churning out at least 5-10 guys per year that are getting D1 scholarships. Attracting that kind of talent has been challenging in part b/c of the whole “East LA” stigma many have, and that there are other JUCOs in our general sphere who have traditionally stronger programs (and in a lot of cases, better resources). Part of what #lolKnicksSupv has done is connect with the talented knuckleheads – those guys who many other places would reject because of their background or issues. Because he knows they deserve a chance as much as anyone else.

Great work CDiggy!!! Must be good if you are using third person!!! 🙂

Porzingis is on NBA Tv right now in overtime against CLe. Just canned a huge three.

Can’t believe Caris Lavert is still a thing.

Mitchell did some great stuff too

The Warriors scored 89 points in the first half against the Kings. That is a lot. The Kings had 71 points which is normally good for a half but we’re down by eighteen despite that.

Is Hal Steinbrenner really OK with continually being sonned by the Astros for 7 years and counting? Like, you really see yourself saying to Yankee fans,“look I know we keep getting pwned by Houston but hey we made $$ again this year!” and think it’s gonna be good with us?

That’s exactly what he did last year when they got sonned by Red Sox. And it’s exactly what he did the year before when they got sonned by the Rays. And for the most part, yankee fans were ok with it both times. So yeah, he’ll probably do it again. But changes at the top are long overdue.

This thread in a nutshell: yankees fans complaining while at the same time wallowing in the misery of insufferable lakers fans. Funny.
