Rockets’ Harden takes high-scoring show to New York

James Harden is doing something nobody has seen since the heyday of Wilt Chamberlain. The New York Knicks are doing something to which Knicks fans have long grown accustomed.

Fiz better make a clear no mrob allowed to guard harden rule.
NEver want to see a rookie foul out in under two minutes !

Like Clyde says: “stop switching. Willis said ‘I ain’t chasing no Oscar Robertson’.”

    Mudiay lmao

I’m not going to lie, Fiz committing to the “benching Enes” strategy to the point where he’s starting Lance freakin’ Thomas has impressed me.

I feel pretty good about that quarter, other than Frank’s ridiculous attempt at a layup.

Trier has such a nice feel for these lobs I really think running all these iso plays with him bc he’s good at it is the exact wrong idea. trier really hits if learns to be a pnr 5 plus assist guy not j crawford lite.

wow, timmy’s foot must be feeling pretty good today…

kanter seems like such an earnest individual…he must be a joy to fuck with…

Excellent point. The Knick offense seems to be rewarding all of the wrong behavior.

Seriously. Plus, of course, the whole “flattened odds” deal has made it much easier to root for cool wins. Like the Bucks win.

These fouls are stupid, but it’s not like Harden doesn’t fool vets into making them as well. I’m not sure why Breen sounds so incredulous.

They had a 2 on 1 and Trier tried to go through the guy instead of passing it. THj was all like, ‘pass the darn ball!’, according to Clyde. Kanter separated them and then they made up. It was all pretty ironic.

what happened between timmy and trier?

    thanks grocer…

okay, just saw the replay – that is kind of funny timmy was getting on him for not passing the ball…that’s chucker to chucker stuff going on there…

No PT in the first half for Kanter (who would have had 30 points in the first half against Houston’s tiny front line), and I’m very excited about that. Trier is our best guard again, and Tim Hardaway Jr is playing well enough to boost his stock before the deadline. Can’t say I’m too mad about this first half.

What did Mitch Rob do? Can’t believe I am missing this.

Just normal awesome Mitch Rob stuff. One of the coolest plays was Frank stealing the ball and then passing to Robinson for a dunk.

minus lance – i’m digging the dnp’s for this game…

I know we are winning, but when I watch this team play I can’t help but think we have some of the lowest basketball IQ and worst defensive players in the NBA. You would almost have to be trying to be bad to put this collection of players together.

Harden would easily have 45 if he didn’t get in foul trouble

He really is like a man among children out there.

    “I know we are winning….. ”

Give it time, we’re only at the half. Agree, it is quite the impressive collection of the lowest basketball IQ and worst defensive players on one team in the NBA

I wonder if Indy would consider taking on Tim Jr and Noah Vonleh considering they might have lost their all star for the year and they’re 31-15.

Preliminary exam has left Pacers with fear that Victor Oladipo has suffered a season-ending knee injury that will require surgery, league sources tell ESPN. He will undergo an MRI on Thursday.

If I cared about winning, I would be as annoyed at the imaginary fouls called defending Harden.

Robinson’s problem is that despite the jumping ability, he’s kind of clumsy and uncoordinated at times. His legs and body kind of flail around in different directions. That’s why he fouls so often.

Frank Ntilikina can’t score but the fact that he’s a good passer and doesn’t stop the ball makes him a better offensive player than Emmanuel Mudiay.

I agree. Just keeping the ball moving matters. Eventually the defense breaks down and you get a good shot.

Unfortunately, he’s been dreadful shooting again tonight. It’s so brutal for me to watch because there’s a good player in there if he could just make some shots. He shoots really well in practice. I know it’s different with game pressure and defense, but I’ve watched bad shooters in practice and they suck in practice too. I don’t understand why he can’t translate practice to games at all. Maybe it’s mental at this point.

Vonleh’s shot release was about 4 feet over the ground on that one. Yikes.

Knicks have posted vonleh with all 4 off ball players on the opposite side of the floor like he’s Pat Ewing in 1993

Hah, I immediately thought Olajuwon on that botched post-up but Pat is an even better comp

Robinson is going to learn and become a dominant defensive player. He has the instincts, just needs to learn the NBA game.

I see the Rockets up by 1 with 29 seconds left. Who’s coaching for the Knicks? And is he putting Timmy on Harden so he can “learn what these moments are all about?”

Remember when a guy getting 30 was a big deal? Granted, it was during the “slow it down” 90s, but still.

I wonder what is the combined BBIQ of THJ, Mudiay, and Vonleh?
    🙂

    Good loss, though.

This is why, by the way, Melo shouldn’t have given up after getting 62. Pad that lead a little, bro!

From the box it looks like that perfect result – close game, all the subs (young guys) are +8 and better, all the starters are -11 and worse. Trier confirms he was just slow recovering from the hammy. And Harden put on a show.

Well, it was all a damn mess, but it was sure entertaining, I’ll take it.

Very good game by Trier, he seems to be fully healthy and getting better again.

We’ve been bad at end of game plays for a while but this season it’s on a whole different level. We’re like a bad HS team.

It would have been perfect except that the mental lapses at the end of the game were way too embarrassing.

Fiz clutch techs really saved us. Game ball to Frank for somehow not scoring against this rockets team.

I’m sorry. this team just came in without their 2nd and 3rd best players. they pretty much played 7 guys. the friggen manimal played 26 minutes. the Hasidim guy went 5-20 from 3 and somehow got 25 free throws. and we lost. meanwhile, Frank and lance played a combined 38 minutes and scored 2 points. Mario, Burke, Lee, Myself and Kanter scored a combined zero. they outscored us by 2 points. holy hell.

Timmy should yell at Trier more often. Impressive game by the rookie. That last minute or so sums up Vonleh and Mudiay’s careers to this point.

    Sheesh.

This thread is killing me. Can’t believe I missed this game. I love it when a good loss comes together.

Sounds like a fun game, but the refs have to stop giving Harden unlimited invisible calls, it makes it seem like a Globetrotters league.

Sometimes with this team it’s hard to find positives in a loss, but Trier’s game was very encouraging. Makes me glad we signed him.

Beyond that, Mitch Rob being Mitch Rob. And I still fucking hate TH Jr. and Mudiay.
