After watching Williamson’s highlights for the yesterday game I’m full on damage control, don’t get too excited you’re still a knicks fan and we can’t have nice things mode.
I could watch him rebound and start the transition for days.

The only path to beating Duke this year is hoping Zion commits dumb fouls and rides the pine early.

To be fair, I think many of us hate Duke but have forgiven Zion for choosing to go there
I can’t stand Duke but I mean, it’s a glorified next level AAU team right now, so I don’t care much.
Mikal Bridges is also quietly putting up some really good numbers in Phoenix.
IMHO, Zion’s presence single handedly overcomes all of Duke’s inherent distaste and makes them America’s team this year.

I will forgive any one of the dookies for being dookies if and only if they become a Knick. I agree with abk that there’s no head and shoulders #1 in this draft like there was with Doncic (who is currently posting a 58 TS% and 38% from 3 on 7 attempts per game when about 3 of those per game are stepback–kid is gonna be mind blowing when he cuts down his turnovers and gets an NBA body). I think Barrett and Zion are 1a 1b at the moment with Reddish and Nas trailing close behind. They all look amazing, and it’s a good year to be a horrible team.
In other news I’ll be at the Atlanta game tonight in the 8th row behind the Knicks bench (free tickets from my gf’s dad who works for TNT sports), be on the lookout for me (26 year old white guy in Knicks gear).

Zion didn’t seem that interested in playing defense outside of a few blocked shot attempts. He might be so dominant that it doesn’t even matter(especially if his jumper is falling).
Barett and Reddish seemed more like two way players but I’d be estatic with all 3.
The #1 overall debate sure seems like it’ll be a barn burner. For the moment I’ll take the guy built like a truck but who can move like a race car.

Zion’s block to him leading the fast break and making a nice transition pass to get one of the other Dukies a dunk might have been his most impressive all-around play. It’s a shame we probably won’t suck enough to be able to draft him.

Despite the weird SRS stuff going on around the league, the Knicks are currently ranked 29th out of 30 in ELO. I am feeling real good about a top-4 pick.
I love Zion but he’s not perfect. I wonder about his perimeter defense and his overall offensive impact. I know he compiles highlight-reel blocks but I need to see more before putting him in Barkley’s stratosphere. Right now, he reminds me more of LJ with his funky-looking shot mechanics and flair for the spectacular at the college level that might not translate quite as well in today’s NBA game. Don’t get me wrong, I’d surely consider him at #1 and would take him for sure at #3, but would like to see more.
One positive I noticed is that he throws nice bounce-passes on the break.
How much did Barkley weigh when he came into the league?
I worry about Zions knees since he’s jumping 40 inches on every play.
He’s more or less what we expected. He’s hitting 3s, keeping his TS% high on moderate usage, getting steals, but not doing much on the boards or elsewhere.
I still think the same things I thought before we “didn’t” drafted him.
He was my preference, but he’s a bit older and will probably never be a higher volume scorer or really good rebounder. He’s a better variation of Dotson at SG/SF. Bridges 3P shot/shot selection/defense are probably a bit better and he’s younger, but Dotson rebounds better and may be a bit better of the dribble at this stage.
Drafting Knox is a major test for management.
They went for the scorer with greater upside and a better fit on the team given its needs. They’ll either hit a home run or we’ll wind up yelling at the TV for the next 10 years when he’s creating and taking bad shots that keep his efficiency down.
Zion, Barrett, and Redush certainly played as advertised, these guys are all really good. That bounce pass on the break by Williamson was a thing of beauty especially coming from a guy his size- he can move that 285 pounds. Agree with the statement above – it’s a shame the Knicks won’t suck enough to draft him.
Full disclosure I hate Duke and their smugness, but they just crushed Kentucky last night and look to be the clear favorite to go all the way. I follow San Diego State who has the misfortune of playing Duke in the Maui classic in about ten days. The Aztecs aren’t that good this year, even by their standards, and are nowhere even close to Kentucky in talent or ability. That game will be over in about ten minutes. Lots of skinny guys trying to guard Zion, it will get ugly in a hurry.
Barrett looked very smooth going to the hoop, love the left handed finishes at the rim, Redish looks like he can shoot. It’s early but these three might just be the first 3 picks in the draft next year, that would be unusual.

Little tidbit I learned from him is that the league is probably going to do away with conferences for the purposes of playoff seeding in the next few years (i.e. just a top 16 format, thank god.)

How about this:
Top 12 teams automatically make playoffs. Next 8 play four elimination games. Top 3 seeds, in order, get to pick their opponents during a televised selection event. Remaining two teams automatically face off.
Imagine the juicy motherfucking television that would be both the selection event AND the play-in games.

Yes, I think it would be stupid if you turn it into the Draft Lottery, with the fake cliffhangers and dramatic music (just like we see on cable news networks), but the point of sports is to get a rise out of us emotionally.
The Apprentice dramatizes corporate competition, which should, to my mind, be a boring, dispassionate affair. This would dramatize a game whose very allure is the drama itself.
