It will be a blast to get to see this fun team AND Luka Doncic. We’re in for a treat tonight!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmLlgWLSl5U

Very cool video. Jordan has a quirky little routine before his FT shots. For those who can’t watch it:

    1) He immediately goes for the ball before the free throw, ostensibly to give it a little toss in the air before his shot.
    2) He asks a teammate, “Who you got?” before the shot attempt. It may be some kind of misdirection, to clear his mind.
    3) As another poster (geo?) recently said, he now stands with a split stance.

I really thought he was a guy who would go to the grave with that 40% form. It’ll be interesting to see how long this improvement manifests itself.

i can’t remember whom it was, but, i know there was at least one other player that used to absolutely have to get a touch in on the ball before the ref passed it to them for their free throw shot…

i remember them getting in to some weird tug of war with the ref one game…

that was a good vid…i didn’t notice before that he actually spoke to a teammate before he shot…

The fact Deandre is shooting 80% from the line is ya de down the most surprising thing about the season so far. Had no idea.

What if after all these years, and all this analysis, it turns out that Robert Randolph and the family band are just really really bad luck? I’m going to call Charles Smith for his thoughts

I mean, how is Zach Randolph not in the family band? or willie Randolph? oh, and shump shump

Sorry it’s OT but for those of you who can watch the Clippers, Boban is starting tonight.

Robinson with the hustle play to put 2 on the board… in consecutive possessions.

See Enes, this is why Mitchell is starting over you.

Dotson is red hot! THJ and Frank not so much.

Great move by Trier. Iso Zo? Not my usual bag but I kind of like this guy. Sublime little shake to get free.

Odd lineup out there; trier, kanter, mudiay, lance, Dotson…fizdale throwing us curveballs with this unit

Trier really is a Lou Will clone.

And Dot yeah, ugh. He looks like a player and I’m happy but then I remember that he’s probably a rapist.

the only explanation i can think of for why Thomas is playing is that he literally owns that basketball

I don’t mind Dotson too much, I probably cheered for worse dudes on a Knick uniform that we never got to know about stuff they did or thought, so yeah. On the court I’ll cheer for him and be happy when he plays well, I just don’t care much for the dude.

In other news, can’t we trade THJ for Otto Porter Jr? The Wizards have to be imploding at this point right, they’re getting obliterated again at home.

I submit this game to the “multiple reasons why Lance Thomas is not actually a good defender” film study group.

I’ve never seen a player who looks more like a Stony Brook business administration major than Hezonja

Sweet alley oop from Doncic to Finney Smith. He is lining up for one of those career nights from an opposing bench player, the “Sabonis.”

    Not liking Chuck tonight.

Boban and Montrell combine for 20/23 in clippers blowout.

Lance Thomas is truly an awful basketball player. Can’t rebound, create offense for himself or others, can’t defend on the perimeter or in the paint.

What is the point of playing him?

    Wow, Mudiay in before Trey?????

Timmy hasn’t shot well but we’ve been leading for most of the second quarter. Encouraging?

Boban and Montrell combine for 20/23 in clippers blowout.

Who? Boban and Montrezl went 8-15 with 10 FTA for 20 points

“I’ve never seen a player who looks more like a Stony Brook business administration major than Hezonja”

Truth. Looks like one of those guys your favorite intellectual Don Lemon would say we need to get rid of.

poor widdle persecuted 2FOR18 is feeling frisky tonight

    meow

Mitchell Robinson has many gifts but his ability to foul people might be the greatest.

    Melo percolating in BK

Jowles I’m always like a week behind the news cycle cause I don’t watch these clowns. When I saw what lemon said I couldn’t believe it. As a non cracker I laughed. As a cracker, what do you think about what he said.

What the hell was that airball lol.

Timmy started shooting better, this two teams are such a mirror of each other really. Young promise here and there, some veterans who should be in the league and some that shouldn’t. I wish we were the ones with Doncic tho, even if he’s having a very quiet game.

I don’t give a fuck about Don Lemon. That’s what I think. You need a straw man to burn? Go for it. The adults are over here when you’re ready to join us.

Ok fair enough. You mentioned lemon once in a snide comment to me so I thought you were boys.

Ok fair enough. You mentioned lemon once in a snide comment to me so I thought you were boys.

I judge players for how they play, not the jersey they wear.

Damn it Frank. You’re standing under the hoop. Take it up strong.

Mitch has 10 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, no turnovers and 3 fouls, going against DeAndre Jordan. This is his 7th game of professional basketball after a year without playing.

God I’m so hyped about this kid. Once he has a general idea of how basketball works he’s going to be a star.

I like KP, Robinson, Frank, Vonleh, and Dotson over Doncic, Dennis Smith Jr and Dallas’s other young players. Our guys play much better defense. I would not swap with them.

The Mavs offence isn’t exactly discombobulating anyone, but I’m pleased to see that our defensive rotations are solid at a basic level.

Clyde: Robinson has wowed the crowd.
Spontaneous. Please don’t leave us Clyde.

@38 A pinhead is a pinhead no matter what color he is.

Our news organizations are extensions of the political parties, intelligence community, and owners. They are incompetent political propaganda not to be taken seriously by serious people. The tough part is finding other serious people. I’m usually too busy to do primary research on my own.

So funny. League pass has the Dallas broadcast and the camera zeros on the Dallas bench and right behind is a woman with a plunging neckline. And they just stay locked in for a good 10 seconds.
    Subtle…

Dallas’ prized rookie clearly has some NBA skills. Playing defense is NOT one of them.

Can’t believe we might have a better version of deondre Jordon for nothing

Dallas’ prized rookie clearly has some NBA skills. Playing defense is NOT one of them.

I have no idea how good Doncic is going to be. He has a lot of tools to work with. But he’s overrated right now.

No matter how many times I watch Trier I never come away with an opinion on how well he plays defense. I’m always too mesmerized by his handle and the way he creates and shoots to notice. If we could get rid of Kanter and Hardaway, promote Trier, and find a backup C, I’d be very enthusiastic.

Not for nothing but after bringing back Timmy and Frank this game all of a sudden seems more lose-able. Some lackadaisical play, poor decisions … Timmy was gifted an assist though. Keep moving against Dallas D and they cannot keep up. But yes, let’s slow it down and wait for double teams

I think u stay in front of doncic and don’t fall for his flash. He’s very guardable. His size def makes it a little tougher. His flash creates space but it doesn’t look like it gives him any advantage going to basket. Sit tight. I’m probably wrong. He’s probably proving me wrong as I type this

This is not hyperbole. I honestly think that if Trier and Robinson were drafted in the lottery and came into the season with more media hype, both would be in the conversation for rookie of the year. They might not win it, but if you brought their names up no one would laugh. They are at a disadvantage relative to the “name players”, but both are excellent players.

    @ClarenceGaines2
What a special lob dunk – would be a 10 in a dunk contest but so special you would never see it in one. This is why people love basketball – the improvisational nature of the game. Robinson rebounding & clogging the lane – Flat out steal at #36 – @nyknicks were blessed to get him

A tornado went right over my complex in Westchester NY last month, tons of downed trees and power lines. No joke.

Smith seems like a low IQ player. Frank is less talented but much smarter and more fun to root for.

    Fine game for Mudiay
    Outstanding game for Mitch
Better game for Dotson than the stats will indicate
    Trier??? WTF???

If KP was healthy from the start of the season, this team would be ridiculously fun to watch (and we still don’t even know what Knox brings to the table). It’s a long trip from where were are to becoming a serious team, but we made out like bandits in this draft. On top of what Phil came up with in a couple of seasons, we actually have reason to smile. I’m dying to know if Robinson was a Clarence Gains guy. He keeps talking about him.

I don’t like the Trier-Lou comparison. Trier seems like much more of an all-around player. It’s really bullshit that he wasn’t drafted.

I finally got Clarence Gaines to make a comment about Trier!

    @ClarenceGaines2
True that! – Trier was the most underrated player in the 2018 @NBA draft & @nyknicks basketball operations staff recognized that – That’s why he’s a Knick. Baller who can flat our score & shoot – Improved passer & also defends. A keeper.

Doncic is going to put up waves upon waves of points in his NBA career. He is for real.

But man is he is a problem on defense. Dude is too soft to guard taller bigger forwards and too slow to guard quicker smaller guards. He needs the right combination of defensive talent around him to minimize his defensive deficiencies.

I’m sure that if the Knicks had as many established NBA players as the Mavs along with a very hyped rookie and where playing as poorly as the Mavs, this forum and the local media would be killing the coach. They should be better than this.

Anyway, good win for our young Knicks.

Yeah, Trier can really score. We used to frown upon iso heavy players but with the way the league is going, a guy like Trier is very valuable. Even if he settles as a Eric Gordon type of volume scorer off the bench it’s pretty awesome to find a guy like this for free, he’s clearly very skilled and polished for his age. The Knicks should really try to lock him up to a contract similar to Dotson and Mitchell’s as fast as possible.

Doncic, the overrated 19 year old rookie ended with a pretty clean 19-9-6.

Agreed. Some here have intimated they’d rather their young core over ours. Me personally, I am not impressed. This Mavs team has no excuse to be as behind as they look with a HOF coach the caliber of Rick Carlisle.

Doncic, the overrated 19 year old rookie ended with a pretty clean 19-9-6.

Again, he has a LOT of tools to work with and may eventually become a superstar, but that dude is BAD on defense right now. He needs a line like that just to be break even.

@KGJ If you’ve got a basement that’s a good place. If not and you’re in the path, bathtub is a spot that’ll up your chances of surviving a direct hit. Tornados are fucking scary.

The Knicks should really try to lock him up to a contract similar to Dotson and Mitchell’s as fast as possible.

The BAE and min are the only options we have to convert his contract. Both only permit 2-year contracts.

How does Trier’s contract work? Is he UFA next year?

RFA, so more likely, they’ll tear up the two-way contract and agree to a two-year minimum deal, unless Trier is super confident in his ability to get a huge contract as a restricted free agent.

Wait, let me get this straight…We got 2 of the best 10 players in the draft with a 2nd round pick and an undrafted free agent?

And our #9 pick is coming back next game?

And our #4 pick from 2015 will be back not too long from now?

    I need smelling salts…

Yeah the only poor pick in the last 3 years has been Jerian Grant; we missed out on Tyus Jones and Delon Wright in that draft. Knox=TBD

No it was a miss because Delon Wright was drafted right after him and both are combo guards.

    @95

I mean, yeah, he’s a poor defender at this point, but he’s also a 19 year old rookie playing his 9th game of the season while averaging 19.5 / 6.3 /4.4 with decent efficiency in a bad team. What more do you want? Rookies are generally bad and specially defense is a big struggle early on, specially for a kid whose body is clearly still not in 100% NBA shape. If any rookie not named Doncic, meaning without the hype, was playing like this people would be going crazy. Hell, we’re here gushing about Trier, rightfully so, when he’s producing a lot less on average.

While I’m super happy with the win tonight, I feel bad about my guy Trey Burke’s diminishing role. Seeing Mudiay get as much time as he did (deservedly so tonight), is not a good sign for Burke.

Lou is pretty well rounded on offense (he’s become a good rebounder and passer). I’d say Lou is an all around offensive player for sure

Trier actually does seem to defend reasonably and also knows how to get to the line. Got to say, pretty happy with the Knicks. Going to take two years for this to gel but I can see things coming together…

It’s just a fun team to watch. I know we put another nail in the Zion coffin, but nice to see our young players leaving it all on the court and get a win.
