So I read a “5 on 5” article on ESPN speculating on whether big names would get traded this season. Of course Melo was one name on the list? So I says, ‘ok..i’ll bite’, and started tinkering with Trade Machine to come up with a trade I might like. I came up with Melo/Seraphin/Calderon to Chicago for Rose/Gibson/Hinrich. For shits and giggles, I also added in Early and Dunleavy and figured that Chicago would throw in a pick or 2 to make that trade work. This season, with KP seemingly set to grow into “star player” role sooner than later, I figured that that might actually be a good deal- since the team is not predicted to go to the playoffs. Thoughts?

Would rather see Melo for: Capela,Lawson,Ariza OR Deng,Birdman,Winslow,T Johnson OR DLee,Bradley OR Nene,PorterJr,Sessions OR Hibbert,Williams,Clarkson,1st rounder. All work via trade machine and help future $ wise and/or young talent. Would really like to get on with the full rebuild. Trade him before he gets hurt. Please.

Miami is going to have a very hard time re-signing Whiteside this offseason as they don’t have his Bird Rights, will have to deal with Wade’s situation, and will want to round out their relatively old and shallow roster. So the best bet to trade Melo would probably be to convince Riley that it’s now or never. Miami gave up two first rounders for Dragic (thought that was dumb) and will either re-sign Whiteside and be locked into this good-not-great aging team, or lose him and almost assuredly be worse for it. Since Miami doesn’t have picks to trade, you might even be able to snag Winslow AND Johnson from them if they have real interest.

Okay, I’m dreaming. I just hope Phil is at least sending out some feelers

Melo for Winslow, Johnson, Deng, Birdman, and McBob works…we’d probably be better this year.

I don’t know if Phil is sending out feelers, but I’ll tell you what he’s not doing-responding to my brilliant suggestions on the twitter.

And actually, if the Heat wanted to hold onto Deng they could make it work with the UD (probably too loyal to him), Beno, and Stoudemire (lol) or Green contracts.
