Game Thread: Knicks vs The Brow

Anyone else going to spend this game dreaming about Anthony Davis forcing New Orleans to trade him, and that somehow the Knicks can come up with the resources to team him up with Porzingis?

  1. Did anyone see the end of the Nets-Warriors game? Hollins drew up a great play with .5 seconds left (gee, I wonder what it’s like to run a great end of game play?) and Lopez ended up with a 1 foot lay in from in front of the basket. Except that the ball hit the back of the rim, bounced out, and of course the Warriors won in OT.

It gave me flashbacks to the end of game 7 against the Pacers in 1995, Ewing lays it in, the ball looks like it’s in the basket and pops out like it’s got an electric charge on it.

Should be a messy game today, with the players half asleep.

I’ve been doing that every game for the past few years (minus the Porzingis part until this year).

Which never should have been necessary. The Nets should have fouled the Warriors before Iggy had a chance to hoist that 3 to tie it.

  4. Any reaction to Rousey getting the crap beaten out of her last night? Overrated, or just a blip on the radar?

I hope the Knicks aren’t sleepy today. They really need a home win.

  5. Some sports site somewhere predicted Holm beating Rousey some months ago. I wish I could remember which one, but some guy talked about her experience and boxing skills, how she’d circle and jab, etc. Pretty much nailed it.

What maybe surprised everyone was how quickly it was over, and the finishing kick. Wow. Rousey was already staggered, but the view from behind when she got kicked shows her body just crumple; she looked to be out cold before she hit the mat.

She needs to go back to school before fighting Holm again, though she’ll always have the “puncher’s chance” with her haymakers and arm bar.

Didn’t Shaq loudly proclaim that Holm had no chance? I’d imagine that Mayweather is chuckling today.

edit. Yeah, just looked up Shaq’s prediction. Someone needs to tell him what the word “fact” means. :-)

  6. I really hope the NBA puts some money into improving their League Pass app. 12:08 and still can’t get it to connect to the game. I know that it hasn’t started yet, but the app says 12:00.

PC site is working, at least.

I can’t watch them full screen. Anytime I try it bogs down to a crawl and the game becomes just a series of pictures. Very annoying. It’s actually worse than last year.

  8. Kahnzy, that’s odd b/c on my PC it is the opposite. In a window, the game appears choppy, but when fullscreen it runs okay.

I prefer to watch via Roku on an HD TV, which makes the app issues so frustrating. It did finally start showing the game, but only once it had actually started. The PC site was working from the French National Anthem on. Would it hurt them to have the Roku app actually start to feed at 12:00 like it says?

  9. Yeah, looks like Fisher is going a little “mad scientist” with his rotations today. Seriously, I’m guessing he’s playing “matchups.”

  10. re #11
Davis had the better first round, a la Holm.

But, KP is having a decent 2nd round, unlike Rousey!
    :-)

  11. Grant getting the nod over Calderon in crunch time! A one game thing, or changing of the guard?
