    Sure, but if we were going to do that, we would have already done it. There have been up to 20 or so tall stiffs out there (see Nick Richards, Jamarious Sharp, etc.) that we could have thrown a little money at (not to mention any number of them that we could have, well you know, drafted or something), but we’re obviously choosing not to go that route.

    lol that’s what we did. the stiff’s name is Drummond.

    Yes, but we lost two backup centers over the course of one hour, not just one. Thusly, we need to sign two tall stiffs, and we’ve still only signed one.

    Diawara was one of them. The text on him was both accurate and discouraging.

    The Knicks signed Diawara to a four-year deal after the 2025 late second-rounder gave them 634 competent minutes last season, even shooting 36.9 percent from 3.

    Alas, New York better hope what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, because Diawara stunk it up for what was one of the worst teams I saw in my stay. He played in only two games but left an impression: Diawara shot 1 of 14 with four turnovers and just one assist. Watching the Knicks, there were times you forgot he was even on the floor.

    He wasn’t the only disappointment or even the worst, but he was definitely bad.

    Both Kings and Nets fans will feel more angst than Knicks fans since their picks mostly didn’t do well either and they are both rebuilding teams who want to hit in the draft.

    Sequence of events:

    7/1: Mitch and Huk sign elsewhere;

    7/2: Chris Haynes reports NYK made “feverish” efforts to trade for Yves Missi, with multiple trade pitches declined by NOP;

    7/3: Drummond signs with NYK;

    7/18: NYK gives Moussa Cisse a (tepid) offer sheet that only guarantees 50% of minimum salary for the initial season.

    Upshot: while we don’t know who/what was in NYK’s trade pitches for Yves Missi, it’s very possible that Deuce was included. But the immediately subsequent acquisition of Andre Drummond may have changed the context of NYK’s interest in a third big man.

    Despite the skepticism of many here about Drummond, Knicks may be prepared to view him as a #2, until proven otherwise. Which means they could now be looking for a #3, a backup to a backup, and not willing to trade the same assets that were on offer for Yves Missi, prior to the Drummond signing.

    Diawara shot 1 of 14 with four turnovers and just one assist.

    I watched a few minutes from his 1st game in Vegas. He had 3 excellent passes to open shooters. All 3 of them missed, but Diawara’s set-up was perfect. And like others commented, leading the offense is not his game.
