    Good morning, fellow Knickerbloggers!

The only way I would want Jimmy Butler would be if we could get Kel’el Ware, too. Over his last five games, he’s averaged 13.6 points and 8.6 rebounds on 53.8 percent field goal shooting in 23.4 minutes per game. Of course, we could have also had him “for free” by simply, you know…….drafting him.

As I just told my kids, it was much colder than this when I was a kid.

You get old slowly and then all at once.

He has to have played in order to be able to “come back.” Unless you mean from having played basketball anywhere at all.

Jesus Christ, Doogie, do you think there’s literally a single person here who doesn’t know that?

“Jesus Christ, Doogie, do you think there’s literally a single person here who doesn’t know that?”

Unfortunately, yes…….in fact, I’m pretty certain of it.

    “Coming back from injury, nudnik.”

    🙂

“In James L. Edwards III’s latest mailbag for The Athletic, a fan asked if McCullar will play this year. Edwards said we could “possibly” see the rookie play for Westchester sometime this season, but based on his understanding, McCullar will “be out several months.”

There seems to be nothing to be worried about. The Knicks knew McCullar would miss significant time but drafted him anyway. New York wouldn’t have done so if the injury were severe.

As Edwards noted, if McCullar is cleared to play this season, his unofficial NBA debut will happen with Westchester, giving fans another reason to tune into the Knicks’ G League affiliate. Don’t expect McCullar to be firing on all cylinders if he returns because of his injury, but it will be fun to watch him progress. He’s the ideal Tom Thibodeau player.”

    Thanks.

Happy MLK day everyone! McCullar could be the new Grimes if/when he gets healthy. I don’t expect to see him with the big club before next year.

He’s more like Hart. Poor shooter but grabs a good number of rebounds, defends, and showed playmaking skill his final year.

That part. I’ll be 48 next month, and let me just add that winter hits DIFFERENT in your 40’s. Not gonna get better either LOL

Fuck! Did I just admit to turning 48 soon?

    “Oh fucking dammit!”
    LOL

Glad to be here after some of the dumb shit I’ve seen and done

Good Macri newsletter today, looking at the fate of past teams that had a similar-ish “3PT defense” to us. I found this more relevant than any of the comparisons:

Which makes me wonder the inverse of the above question: is it worse to be unlucky, or bad?

Right now, it’s tempting to say the Knicks are both, but the numbers don’t quite bear that out. Across the NBA, only six teams give up a lower frequency of wide open opposing threes than the Knicks. The numbers aren’t quite as good in open threes – they’re 13th worst – but still, for a team second from the bottom in opponents’ hit rate on all 3-pointers, that data is nowhere near as bad as you’d expect (the Nets, for example, are ninth worst in both categories).

We absolutely, positively have major defensive issues, and I have no problem buying the idea that they creep into our “3PT defense” (in scare quotes because the extent to which that’s a real thing is debated). That said, I don’t buy that we’ve earned this level of shotmaking against us.

So, I’m reasonably optimistic for some regression brickfests on the horizon (I know that’s not how regression works, do not correct).

I turned 30 yesterday and already feel like I have lost significant ability to deal with NYC winters. Growing up it was like a fun little curiosity. Now I am constantly buying warmer and warmer gear. Looks like this week is one of the ones I’ll be walking around like an anonymous Eskimo.

Unfortunately, yes…….in fact, I’m pretty certain of it.

You think there is someone on this board who didn’t know if McCullar had played for the Knicks yet or not? Ok, cool.

    Correct. And cool.

Just turned 71. The worst element of growing old is not physical, though it is pretty bad, but how grumpy and easily triggered I am . Here I just scroll past posts that will annoy me. In real life, I find it harder to just walk away from trolling people, so I avoid them completely.

Is there a case to be made that Nikola Jokic is on track to be the greatest NBA player of the 21st century?

Ha! That holds true for me in my 40’s as well. I went to pick my daughter up for the weekend on Friday, and was asked if I could wait 1-2 hours when I was maybe 10 minutes away. Went BALLISTIC for a few seconds lol

That’s why I’m retiring this yr…I’ve become the old grumpy guy whose office I hated going in when I was younger

ed casaubon is 7′ 3″ and had 32 pts 6 rebs and 8 blocks last thursday

Nice try, pt, but Doogie already mentioned him six Thursdays ago 🙂🙃

Of course, we could have also had him “for free” by simply, you know…….drafting him.

Unless you think the Knicks could’ve traded up for Ware he wasn’t available for them to pick.

Jokic is gunning for best all time, period.

No one but statheads might give it to him but he will be worthy of strong consideration.

Is that a Middlemarch reference or is there a new big out there for me to obsess over?

    And Happy Belated TNFH!

“ed casaubon is 7′ 3″ and had 32 pts 6 rebs and 8 blocks last thursday”

Except for that he doesn’t exist, and this is made up and idiotic.

“ed casaubon is 7′ 3″ and had 32 pts 6 rebs and 8 blocks last thursday

Nice try, pt, but Doogie already mentioned him six Thursdays ago 🙂🙃”

Except for the fact that I didn’t, because it’s made up, stupid, and idiotic.

“Doogie, do you like movies about gladiators?”

Fuck; no. Movies about gladiators would be so far down on my list of things to see that they would literally never be seen.

    “Boy, you sure are insulting.
    Also rude.
    Also repetitively so.”

Then it worked perfectly. Two stupid comments deserved two separate responses. And who are you calling “boy”? 🙂

Jokic is gunning for best all time, period.

Yes, but is Denver’s third string C PJ Hall, averaging 10 & 10 with 2 blocks per 36, a real player or do the strangely generic numbers mean I made him up?

“Doogie, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?”

No, I’ve never been in a prison in any country, and I’ve also never been to Turkey.

“Yes, but is Denver’s third string C PJ Hall, averaging 10 & 10 with 2 blocks per 36, a real player or do the strangely generic numbers mean I made him up?”

No; PJ Hall is a real player. The statistics for “Ed Casaubon” had nothing to do with him being a made-up player (and therefore the post about him was idiotic); the fact that he is not currently and has never been a player is what made him a made-up player. There was a scholar in the 19th century by that name, but there has never been an NBA player by that name.

“Thanks, Doogie, that’ll be all for today.”

No problem. As always, my pleasure to respond to your questions that you don’t really care about.

“Wow this Dookie guy is super cool”

Yes, I *am* super cool…….and thank you very much for saying so! But you are pretending to be an idiot by pretending that you think my screen name has a letter “k” in it, when it is so very obviously a letter “g” instead. It’s all over your screen, and is right there for you to see.

On the one hand it seems like time for a ban, on the other, the trolling is pretty enjoyable

For what, exactly? I’ve literally done nothing wrong, and others on here are regularly at *least* as insulting and rude to others than I’ve *ever* been. I’ve even had it aimed at myself, and have called for no bans on anyone based on those posts.

“I’m just pretending to be an idiot. You’re an actual idiot, Dooks.”

I already *wrote* that you were pretending. Can’t you read? And I’m so far from being an idiot that the fact that you think that I am one says a lot (of negative things) about you.

And again, it’s a “g,” not a “k.” Oh, wait—I forgot that you can’t read (or are at least pretending that you can’t read), or else you’d already know that. 🙂

It’s all over your screen, and is right there for you to see.

That’s right! No excuse for misspelling Doogie’s name because he has posted 17,000 times to help make sure everyone knows how it’s spelled.

At least that’s the only possible purpose I can discern for posting damn near every other post in every fucking thread while never saying anything interesting or adding anything to the conversation.

Look at me! I’m Doogie! Nick Richards plays in the NBA! One guy made a typo earlier! I’m posting repeatedly about an exceedingly trivial ‘misunderstanding’ that has resulted purely from my obtuse literalism! Wheeeeee!

“ed casaubon is 7′ 3″ and had 32 pts 6 rebs and 8 blocks last thursday
Nice try, pt, but Doogie already mentioned him six Thursdays ago 🙂🙃”

I was minding my own business when I was falsely mentioned as part of an idiotic post. So yes, you can always expect a response from me when that occurs. If you don’t want me to respond to that kind of thing, then don’t do it. If you do want me to respond to that kind of thing, then keep doing it. I’m good either way. LOL
