I do kind of love Anne Hathaway.

And I definitely despise Kevin Durant.

I’m dying for some news out of camp about how the Battle of the Bigs is going. I guess we’ll learn a lot more on Monday night.

    Sorry…here’s the key paragraph

“Still, Wiseman has impressed in camp, according to witnesses, and should be the favorite for the final spot with an important caution: They still have to play in the preseason.”

And then there’s a few paragraphs of Brown waxing poetic about what a great guy he is…

Thanks, pepper. My hope is that (barring an trade that brings a player back) two of the three C’s are on the initial roster (perhaps one dangling for 14 days to preserve a few thousands in cap space). Meaning Wiseman and one of the others. Obviously that would have to involve ditching either Kolek or Dadiet.

    My reasoning is:
    1) We could really use 4 true bigs more than either one of K or D.
    2) Wiseman has considerable upside, but how much of that will translate in critical playoff situations this year if Brown needs it to? Having a big with a floor of “playable emergency primary backup.” I think both Eubanks and Bradley are capable of playing 15-20 mpg in a playoff game.

I guess if Leon wants to keep Kolek as a 3rd PG, it’s understandable. Dadiet’s provides a bit of extra salary for aggregation. So if they decide to keep only one of the three for now and kick the can down the road until a better opportunity comes along and Wiseman is the guy, not really a big deal.

I’ll try to believe in Wiseman, despite my (mostly) unfair biases against him. I’d rather have Eubanks and Bradley (if only one of them, then Eubanks over Bradley) and get rid of Daddy-O. Let’s not ditch Kolek—I actually think he’s a pretty good player who just happens to be trapped behind Brunson and Alvie. But if either of those guys gets injured, Kolek is a more-than-cromulent fill-in.

I don’t see any reason to roster 4 bigs. If the delta between Wiseman and Eubanks is that big, you need to roster Eubanks.

Wiseman is 25. If he’s that far below a replacement level player like Eubanks, then you’re effectively saying he’s never going to make it.

EB I agree in principle but would like to really see how they do in regular season games before deciding. If they roster both of them with non-guaranteed deals and then cut one later on, seems like they will have more hard evidence on Wiseman by then. I also think all 3 players have some versatility to play alongside another big in a twin towers lineup, say vs. Miami.

    It’s minor quibbling anyway,

If you can’t tell the difference between Wiseman and Eubanks in camp, I’d go with Wiseman as the younger player. But it doesn’t really matter.

I think both players are roughly replacement level and if we need to sign someone midseason, we can. Even with expanded rosters, we were able to sign Tony Bradley who doesn’t seem any worse based on his track record. In case of injury, I think you look to sign someone to a two-way spot.

I don’t view them as multi-position players. If they can play together, that would certainly change things. I’d still view Kolek as a better player and Dadiet only being 21 as a better upside play, even though he’s been terrible.

Anne is a real one and it’s too bad she and Timmy can’t make a Knicks super baby together to replace Spike

“If you can’t tell the difference between Wiseman and Eubanks in camp, I’d go with Wiseman as the younger player. But it doesn’t really matter.”

I think we should go with whoever exhibits the best defensive chops among the trio of Eubanks, Wiseman, and Bradley, and I can’t imagine that it wouldn’t be Eubanks. I’ve been a fan of his for a while, and I think he would be great as our third center.

It sounds like we’re still looking for the perfect center trade aside from our free agent efforts: https://heavy.com/sports/nba/new-york-knicks/aggressive-miles-mcbride-trade-center-roster-decisions/

I don’t like the idea of trading Deuce, but swapping him for one of the Hornets’ centers makes a lot of sense for both teams.

The only other center I would even consider in a Deuce trade would be Ware in Milwaukee, but they have no use for Deuce so it would have to be a 3-teamer involving picks.

I think there is a case to be made for Eubanks to be better than Wiseman right now but for Wiseman to surpass him with enough reps.

One thing that gives me a bit of faith in that is that Mike Brown is the first coach to get through to KAT in a way that made a significant difference on the defensive end (maybe with help from some players like Brunson.) At this point last year the word was that KAT’s teammates were frustrated with his defensive lapses. It may take time, but getting Wiseman to improve might be worth keeping him around, but also another big just in case.

I would disagree that you can easily find a Eubanks at any time. He’s a bit above replacement level as far as I’m concerned. But sure, it’s possible, and maybe possible to find someone even better. So again, it’s just a minor quibble.

So I’ve been pondering — what’s the over/under on number of threes Mitch takes this year (and makes)?

I think I’d go with Eubanks’ floor over Wiseman’s ceiling. Really we need somebody who can get on the floor, be tall, play some defense, and maybe knock down an occasional middy. I don’t know if Wiseman can be counted on to do any of those things, because I don’t really know if Wiseman can get on the floor in the first place.

It’s third string center. Go with floor over ceiling.

floor over ceiling sounds perfect for where we are at: win win win, win now…

seems though we make a bunch of moves based on “relationships”…from afar that sounds like wiseman…

man, once deuce is gone – we will be all merc’d out…

that’s okay…our laundry now reads champions and has got rhinestones on it…

not to dump on andre before the season begins, hoping though if we do bring in someone young and full of potential they replace him prior to the playoffs as our backup center…

I don’t know, jordan clarkson helped us get a chip, maybe andre can too…

gonna hope for both things, stellar season from andre and the front offive brings in a young promising defensive minded center…

i just miss having someone on the team who can block the ball a bunch…

I find that I have unreasonably high hopes that Andre Drummond is going to provide excellent backup minutes at center. But I must admit that I get very deeply sad literally anytime anyone writes about trading Deuce.

AND, once we get this backup center situation worried over, we sure could use a nice young 4 with some size…and 10 good fingers…

kids grow up…then they leave…then they come back…maybe leave again…come back…i myself moved back home more than once…

yeah, that dynamic sounds totally fair to me…

not too bad of work, i guess…purposeful, you hope…

Had a bunch of errands to run today, didn’t feel like listening to any recent eps of the podcasts I subscribe to, so I just cued up Bill Simmons and Zach Lowe’s postgame shows from Game 4 and 5. That’s totally normal, right?

    1

All three pitchers that have appeared in this game are very high K/BB guys and all three have absolutely painted the corners. Incredible command on display.

That would have been that guy’s first triple all year.

It’s like if Mitch pulled up for a fast break 3 down two in the closing seconds.

That was one of the worst TOOTBLANs I have ever seen in my life. The fact that it was with two outs makes it even more insane.
