That baseball games was nuts. The whole playoffs has been fantastic so far.

Statcast says that would not have been a homer. I trust the data – I think.

Just a truly wild thing to happen in the ninth inning.

Had a bunch of errands to run today, didn’t feel like listening to any recent eps of the podcasts I subscribe to, so I just cued up Bill Simmons and Zach Lowe’s postgame shows from Game 4 and 5. That’s totally normal, right?

I’ve definitely done this, too. Not sure that makes it normal, though.

    1

Is it normal to have watched videos of every bucket from the game 4 comeback at least 20 times?

(My favorite is the one with Adele singing Skyfall, something epic about it)

I find myself watching videos from both the present and the past. This championship is only one end of the 53-year “bridge over troubled waters.” The other end was the 1970-73 teams. On P&T, they posted this tribute video on the life of Dick Barnett that I hadn’t seen before. He is probably the most underappreciated of the guys with their jerseys retired, both for what he accomplished on and off the court relative to his roots.

I know that it means more to us older guys to think back on those days, but my feeling is that knowing history adds to the appreciation of the present.

I think it would be abnormal if you didn’t.

Ps – don’t sleep on game 1 vs Cleveland! That one should be rewatched almost as much.

Z-Man, Agree with you about Dick Barnett. Did not get his flowers back in the day nor presently. Clyde would agree with you as well and is always exalting his contributions both to the team and him as an individual.

As an older guy get the nostalgia, but I think knowing the history of past glory fades in comparison to knowing the history of past struggles/failures for the non-older. As an example, the 34 year old Ranger fan me was thrilled when the they won the Cup in 94. Partly because I lived through the almost-times of the early 70s, akin to the prime Ewing teams. Could not have cared less about the glory of the 1940 team.

That said, having Clyde as a link between the 2 sides 50 years apart does make a difference, as well as Willis limping out of the tunnel in game 7 as NY sports folklore.

Wonder at what point will KATs refusal to sign extension become a problem?

While I’m always early with the warning signs, and often wrong, we can’t all just ignore this, – can we?

“Is it normal to have watched videos of every bucket from the game 4 comeback at least 20 times?”

If you are a Spurs fan, yes. And I suspect there are more than you think.

The difference in run expectancy between “runner on third two outs” and “runner on second two outs” is .01 runs. There is almost no value in taking that extra base. You’d have to be roughly 98% you were going to make it to third base in Wells’ situation for that tiny bump in run expectancy to be worth it.

    Didn’t get his flowers?

The guy was an excellent player, yet never close to the best player on his team or in the league. He was the 4th best player on the 69 team. Very much like Mikal Bridges… very good at everything and superb at nothing.

He was a ONE time all star who is in the HOF and the rafters at the Garden.

His flowers are somewhere between the garland of roses for the Kentucky Derby winner and the wake of a Mafia don in the 1950s…

Ps – don’t sleep on game 1 vs Cleveland! That one should be rewatched almost as much.

I was at that game, and still don’t quite believe what I saw. Cosmic payback I guess for attending the game 1 debacle vs. the Pacers the season before.

Dick Barnett was very highly respected in his day. He, not Cyde, took on the toughest defensive assignments like West, Big O, and Monroe. While he was more of a lifetime achievement HOFer than a strict NBA star inductee, he was certainly at least as good of a pro as fellow HOFer Bill Bradley was, yet took a lot longer to get recognized due to his race and upbringing. Also a great guy and a player that all of his teammates looked up to.

Bob was referring to the relative accolades compared to his teamates, His defensive contributions were particularly underrated. He often guarded the oppositions’ best guard ( eg Jerry West) allowing Clyde to freelance and play the passing lanes. I’d say he was as good if not better than Bradley.

    Playoff games I’ve most rewatched.

    Game 4 of the finals
Game 1 of the conference finals
    The Atlanta obliteration
    The philly obliteration
    Game 5 of the finals

So Wiseman has the inside track? I do agree that ideally we’d be able to sign Wiseman and Eubanks so we had a solid floor and an upside play.

But maybe the move is to sign wiseman, play him up, then flip him with some other assets (2nd round picks, Dadiet, maybe deuce) for a real back up center upgrade?

he was certainly at least as good of a pro as fellow HOFer Bill Bradley was

That is being damned with faint praise. I don’t think Bradley is in the HOF because of his 12 ppg or 3 boards per game with the Knicks, but rather his other worldly NCAA career.

Being one of the finest Senators ever didn’t hurt him either. That he could never secure the democrat nomination was a blight upon the country.

I need to go back and watch. The game replays that are like 10 minutes long for each game we won. The Cavs series was kind of a blur to me after game one but I specifically want to watch Atlanta game three bc that’s where we first turned it on.

Watching the little daily practice videos from camp it seems like Andre is fitting right in and is very very happy to be here.

I really feel like we’re totally guessing on all three of the guys in camp. It will be a lot easier to have an opinion after a couple of preseason games.

Games 1 & 4 vs philly were massacres.

Game 3 was the best game of the series. There was legit doubt bc OG was out, and they came out smoking in the first. But we came back, Mitch snatched Joel’s soul, and we won going away.

One of my favorite games of the postseason is game 5 vs Atlanta. That was really the game that broke their spirit and made gave 6 possible. Brunson had Daniels on skates all night.

It’s also a personal fave for me bc it was the moment I knew we were going to win the chip this year.

    2

This is at least the true Jameis experience. We’ve gotten roughly half absolute dimes, half of the worst passes I’ve ever seen. Before today it was just the latter.

I tuned in for the last minute of the Giants and holy hell was that entertaining.

Interested to know if there were any gambling repercussions from the late pick

After the Rays beat the Yankees last night I watched a replay of game 4. After the Bears crushed the Jets today I watched a replay of game 5.

Who would’ve thought that I would be watching Knick game replays to make me feel better?

    1

I’m in the Wiseman camp and I don’t think it’s so he can be flipped. There’s a chance that he’ll be trash but there’s also the chance that he lives up to some degree of his potential. Even if he doesn’t improve, he’s a young #3 center who can work on his game.
If KAT goes down, he’s not a replacement and neither is Drummond. But on the cheap, he’s worth the gamble. And if the gamble pays off, it’ll be yet another feather in Leon’s Rose’s cap.

Turned on the Chiefs in final five minutes. Immediately saw one of the worst injuries I have seen. Football is rough.

That was a winnable game for the Raiders. Kubiak inexplicably took three points off the board in what was his first major blunder of the season, but the Raiders were still in position to come back and win the game until they fumbled a kickoff return.

Well I can watch all games on NBA League Pass. I retired to Florida so the only way that I can see all Knick games is League Pass or if they’re on a national broadcast. So I watch there and also the YouTube Extended Full game highlights are terrific.

And so ends the last night of this best offseason in forever. We have World Champion New York Knicks basketball tomorrow..

Last year at this time it was fifty three years and counting.

    Now it is zero.

    Life is good.

I would be out on Wiseman, except that Mike Brown just worked magic with KAT that I didn’t see coming. So I’m gonna happily roll with whatever Mike Brown and Leon decide.

But if the over/under on the amount of regular season games Wiseman plays non-garbage time minutes is 10 1/2 and I had to bet, I’d take the under for sure.
