2025-26 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Sixers

The Knicks host the Sixers tonight.

A win here would make last night’s loss feel like a distant memory, so how about you just do that, okay, Knicks?

Let’s go, Knicks!

More than 58 could still be great!

Not sure I agree with starting both Mitch and KAT tonight, now Bridges has to chase Maxey at the start instead of Deuce.

og and rj missed shots at the exact same instant

actually dont love mitch and embiid being in the same game mitch may not make it out of this one uninjured

Knicks still can’t make shots. I think it’s mostly bad luck, so many shots were halfway down.

Knicks City Kids consistently better than the Knicks City Dancers the last year or two. Maybe bring their choreographer up to the big leagues.

vinnie johnson would like to have a word at least mikal is playing better tonite so far

So glad the Knicks never seriously went after Paul George like I thought I wanted them to a few years ago. He’s definitely washed. Sad to see

KAT gets alot of shit for his defense but Brunson is by far the biggest problem for the Knicks defensively

huk better man up and start to stand his ground, can’t keep backing up…

really good for him to get minutes though…easy to see the game is moving along at like a million miles an hour for huk…

pg13 had a 35-point game less than 3 weeks ago brunson playing better now mccullar for defense not sure what the point of putting yabu in for a minute really was im liking mccullar more and more hes a good player

didnt even get a chance to do much stupid stuff mamukelashvili having a decent nite for him so far thats because no one is guarding them bba

the quick yabu pull was heartening…

much much rather run huk, mo, and mccullar out there…

tyler needs to come in and show out a bit this game, now that deuce is back his role might shrink, a bunch…

no guarantees we beat either the hawks or sixers, both are playing much better than earlier in the season…

feel though like the court time for our younger players is a great investment for the post season…

Mike Brown is back to throwing a ton of weird lineups out there like he did to start the season which he admitted was a reason for their slow start.

pg13 looking fairly healthy at the moment…

oh wait, he’s pg8 now…

I’m in favor of this BBA, it was ONE of the things that many of us wished thibs would do…find combos that work in tough game time situations…

forget just using them always in garbage time…

I’ll tell ya, expect the front office is ecstatic with this approach…

I know everyone loves seeing the end of bench guys play but sorry the Knicks shouldn’t be playing 11 guys in the 1st half against a good team especially when Hart and Shamet aren’t playing.

What happened to someone else bringing the ball up so Brunson can get open for three?

60+ point half again. When was the last time we gave up less than 60 in the first half? This is ridiculous.

Saw the last minute and a half, we were down 13 and now it’s only 8. It’s a little better.

KAT is in full “do dumb shit and get frustrated” mode. And we need him badly this game.

I feel responsible for this stretch of bad basketball lol

NYE I wore an orange hoodie, blue jeans, and my Timbs cuz it was too cold for my orange and blue Dunks. Made a whole “Maryland Knickerbocker” and “Knicks colors!” post. Team hasn’t been right since. DAMMIT ME!

Knicks shot 48% on 23 treys, yet still trail by 8. They need to find a way to stop Maxey and Edgecomb. Easier said than done and now we have a 1.5 game sample size and no answer to stopping the Sixer backcourt, even with Deuce back for this game.

This feels very much like the annual summer slump the Yankees go through, when everybody but Judge forgets how to play for 6 weeks.

it’s funny, when our defense struggles i don’t blame jalen, KAT, or even the coach so much – usually wonder what’s wrong with mitch, mikal, and OG…

Seems like I’m not missing much. Starting to wonder if those NBA cup games are catching up to them

Although the speed and athleticism of the Philly back court seems like a bad matchup for a slower footed team

Someone tell Kolek that he’s not Jalen Brunson.
otoh, Deuce only Knick playing well. Keep him in

Knicks defense is genuinely awful but JFC some of these shots Philly’s making is absurd.

It’s been said before, but needs to be repeated: If they stay healthy Sixers will be tough in the playoffs. Their backcourt is sensational, the athleticism is off the hook

This was a carbon copy of last night’s game. They brought it in the fourth (end of the third, to be precise) but it was too little, too late. It can’t go on like this. The coach has to do something. I am dreading the next two games against the Pistons and Clippers.

When Brunson misses, of course the team loses faith… it happens. On to the nex

A team is more than one player. Others needs to step up. Nobody is playing for free

Man, Thibs’ dungeon sure would come in handy right now (looking squarely at you, Clarkson and Yabu).

We haven’t looked right since the NBA Cup final. We’ve scraped out wins against shitty teams and gotten outclassed by some good teams.

This would be a great time for the all star break

Trade deadline should be looking for defenders or bring back Delon wright

Or

Get Giannis

Approaching half season and our defense is getting worse instead of getting better. This is unacceptable!

Bad defenders in Rotation

Brunson
Towns
Clarkson
Yabu- when he gets court time
Kolek

Teams two best players

The scorer off the bench . The backup point guard

And a guy who gets time when Hart and Mitch are out

If brown is going. To play his roster going to have to deal with the bad defense

The 76ers are going to be a tough out in the event they stay healthy. They were already dangerous if healthy, but with Edgecomb they are scary.

The 76ers are going to be a tough out in the event they stay healthy.

Agreed.

They won’t, though.

But yes, eventually they will surround Maxey and Edgecombe with other players, and that will suck. But that will be a while from now, at least, the Knicks just need to win a title before then!

The Sixers are paying Embiid 60 million plus until the next election. They are in the bone zone, and their front office is dumb.

The tanking argument once again is moot since we basically lucked into JB being a generational talent and needed to build around him.

Also tanking requires a good scouting department that we don’t have unless it’s 2nd round sleepers.

I wonder how the sixers got edgecombe

Yup. Tanking

The biggest problem with the draft and lottery is none of the things that usually get discussed. It’s when a “very good team” has a lot of injuries, tanks the season and adds still another star.

The Pacers could do that this year and make a good comeback next year.

I’m not sure what Dallas is going to do this year. It depends on Davis’s health and when/if Kyrie comes back but they got Flagg because Davis and Kyrie were hurt last year. They would be one of the best teams in the west if they were all healthy. If they decide to tank this season and add another very good player, they’ll be a contender next year.

Mike Brown’s defense is clearly the Knicks biggest problem. It’s worse than Venezuella. He’s a genuine big teddy bear. Need Josh Hart back asap. Their body language tonight was terrible. Just looked tired and defeated.

I’ve long felt that Mazzula is a really good coach OUTSIDE the game, and man, he has done an amazing job with the Celtics.

In-game, he falls apart way too much. Guys like Spoelstra are just wunderkinds, in that they excel at both.

as much as i want josh hart back on the floor (and its kind of odd that hes not as his injury several games back didnt look that bad) i dont think that hes going to affect our overall defense all that much we need to 1) defend the 3 much much better and also 2) start hitting our own 3s at a good clip again
