2025-26 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Nets

This game should hopefully cure what ails them.

Let’s go, Knicks!

Feeling great about winning 28!

If they lose tonight the meltdown among fans and media is going to be epic, though I think Frank Isola will enjoy it.

antonio banderas in Desperado and jon hamm in Baby Driver…

next life I wanna come back looking like one of them…

missed that look just a bit this go around…

Jesus, I totally forgot that Hamm was in Baby Driver. Had to google it.

Actual defense by Towns.

Doogie’s posts have been like Yabu’s play. Infuriatingly unwatchable and getting worse, it seems.

it’s odd raven, you would think if it was possible to achieve – you would never ever give that “look” up…

maybe just spend most the day staring in the mirror repeating over and over: god damn but I look good ๐Ÿ˜Š

How that semi-tackle on Hart’s first break wasn’t called a foul is somewhat baffling. It does feel like the league decided not to give us any calls…that is a good thing, since it will help us in the playoffs if we’re no longer expecting a favorable whistle.

Yabu moves like a Budweiser draft horse.

I wonder who I want to pin this Nets comeback on…

Case in point on that attempt by Mitch to corral the rebound…guy holding his jersey…

yabu being the first guy off the bench pretty much follows the pattern used for most of this season thus far

Why Shamet is the first guard off the bench instead of Deuce followed by fucking Yabu getting 1st quarter mins makes me think Brown is sneakily trying to get fired…

Ooo, and I see that Mr. Brown agrees with me.

And the whole point being made, you moron, is that it SHOULDN’T be the pattern. Not any more.

Half of the Nets roster makes me say “wait, who is that” and the other half makes me say “wait, that guy’s still in the NBA?”

I appreciate that Deuce at least tried to get it to Mitch under the hoop. Seems like very few players go to him when he’s open. Easy points…

Deuce’s shooting is just money.

Meanwhile, Mitch is just ruining the Nets.

The biggest positive for me in this moment is that we have an entirely healthy roster, including Landry Shamet.

1

Hart is shooting 40% from 3 for the season. I don’t believe we should think of him as a non-spacer anymore…

Well, being able to beat the brakes of the Nets is better than not being able to do that, and an hour ago I was far from sure.

1

Jalen Brunson took a page out of Billy Martin’s playbook with the timing of that player’s only meeting.

hopefully we can beat the brakes of the sixers and the kings losing to the kings again would be horrifically bad seems like the rite time for that meeting altho we dont know if it helped or if were just beating the nets because theyre the nets time will tell

Clearly the difference in the Knicks Offense is that Clyde is once again calling the game.

Music to my ears.

Non Brunson lineups are hard to watch on offense at times.

I think the Mitch/Hart pairing has good numbers, but it’s an ugly watch.

Mitch being his old self again would be huge for this team. Heโ€™s been on a tear lately on both sides of the ball

1

Much like Doogieโ€™s girlfriend irl, E is always conspicuously missing when the Knicks are playing well.

thought hamm was good in madmen havent followed his work or his apparent good looks since then mitch and shamet playing great tonite along with daniss jenkins in cades absence

Gah, KAT still thinks he can use his off-arm on drives…when will it stop?

Non Brunson lineups are hard to watch on offense at times.

Because thereโ€™s no PG on the court unless Kolek is out there, but if heโ€™s out there you need another scorer and it shouldnโ€™t be Clarkson. I generally like Brown, but Iโ€™m not so sure he good at lineup construction.

If Brown doesnโ€™t think Kolek is quite ready, they need to pick up a real backup PG before the trade deadline.

Mike Brown really needs to change KAT’s “pump fake out of an open three in favor of a doomed drive” role

2

That said, I do think Claxton mauled him on the second one. But that kind of shit is why he’s having a bad season and it has nothing to do with Mike Brown.

I think that if Brad Pitt had tried to say โ€œIโ€™m a man of faith. I believe in Gosh and his son Jeepersโ€ he probably would have Doug Collinsed it.

Whether Claxton fouled him or not, it’s the same visual, KAT hooking upwards with that off arm. That’s going to get called every time a ref sees it.

That second call shouldn’t have been against Towns, but he did put his hand on the defender’s shoulder, and it looked like a grab. He just needs to put both hands on the ball and swing up into his shot and it’ll be called.

OMG Yabu is back in and Doogie is still posting. This is a nightmare.

1

I’m here too… looks like we’re back on track. We should ask the league to only play against teams with a losing record. ๐Ÿ˜€

Every time he does that I smash my sofa.

So good we have Clyde back, being on a losing stretch without Clyde was the worst. Or maybe the team also missed Clyde and that’s why they were losing. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So Z-Man, your post made me wonder so I checked Jon Hamm’s movies, and holy crap there are a whole lot of duds in there. Only a few I’ve seen, Baby Driver where I forgot he was in there, The Town, Top Gun Maverick, We Were Soldiers. That’s it.

I’ve seen parts of We Were Soldiers, but not enough to really remember anyone but Mel Gibson.

Hamm had a large, uncredited role in Bridesmaids, where he played a good looking asshole who was funny. Kind of like J.J. Redick.

Jalen’s defense has been pretty decent tonight. Makes a difference when everyone is actually trying. Though it’s hard to know when we’re only facing the Nets.

Donnie on fire.

Meanwhile, Tyler says “McBride… with a choice…”

Everybody making funny comments, game threads are a lot better than morning news threads lately ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜›

I saw the amount of Bridesmaids I tend to see when my wife is watching a typical chick flick and I’m in the general vicinity. Like about the same amount she watches when she’s around and I’m watching A Fistful of Dollars.

Hamm’s been better on TV. Besides Mad men, he also did a turn on Fargo and starred in Your Friends and Neighbors. I thought he was quite good in both.

Tidy and tight substitutions through 3 quarters. No experiments. Yabu 5 minutes, Shamet 10, Mitch and Deuce with 16 each.

Knicks up by 40.

Shamet blocks a three (and recovers it). That’s just stupid.

Hamm was on 30 Rock as a lovable doctor who wasnโ€™t qualified to be a doctor. Kind of like Julius Erving.

I don’t remember Shamet being quite so good a three-point shooter…a very pure stroke right now

If Yabu played normally like he’s playing this quarter, we’d have something

I don’t know if that was a foul, but calling for a review up 48 seems… wrong?

Why is this call being challenged? Bizarre.

MB wants to extend Pepper’s exteeeended garbage time a little longer ๐Ÿ˜€

Good defense by towns this game and beyond those 2 dumb b2b offensive fouls mostly smart basketball

Good feistiness on D from the captain.

Those two things stood out at the start of the game.

The guys were also talking more and more in lock step in switch and recover defense

Let’s do this against teams not named the Nets ols

1

I just don’t think Kolek and Clarkson should be similarly exiled by Brown. Kolek brings something the second unit needs, even with Deuce and Shamet playing. I get the need to tighten the rotation, but Kolek should play 10, I think.

Meanwhile, Diawara still has me excited about his future. In two years this guy could be a major part of the team.

It’s lovely to get a very easy W, even if this came against such a bad team as the Nets, and smile just a little bit. We shall see if this means anything in the next few games.

I have a place in Diawara island too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Missed this one, out to dinner, but reviewing the thread there were probably more Jon Hamm posts than Knicks posts.

You guys are Mad Men! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Or a tennis instructor.

You spend any time in the bubble, Donnie? You seem like the kinda guy who could have gotten away with orange gatorade in his salmon bourguignon during your prime.

My wife refers to him in front of me as “Your friend Jon Hamm” because I’ve interviewed him so many times. And he is VERY handsome in person.

Mets acquire Freddy Peralta from Milwaukee for two of their top prospects, Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat.

I really liked Jett and Iโ€™m sad to see him go, but Peralta is a legit ace.

Doogie, his member is called the Hammaconda by thousands upon thousands of interested parties because it is enormous. How can you not like that.

Clarence, while I thought that might be the answer, I was also envisioning it as the next in the movie series…

I really liked Jett and Iโ€™m sad to see him go, but Peralta is a legit ace.

Huge for the Mets. A front end starter. They are hard to find. You have to give to get.

There was a series called Your Friends and Neighbors recently, starring Hamm. It was pretty good, though I had some problems with the writing. Amanda Peet was playing his ex wife, and other good performances.

About a guy in Westchester (kind of Scarsdale or Rye) where everyone owns too many nice cars and watches and such. Hamm’s character loses his wife and his job and becomes a kind of thief, breaking into the houses of his neighbors and taking things he thinks they won’t miss. It was okay.
