2024-25 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Wizards – Did I Ever Win?

The Knicks take on the worst team in the NBA in a game that they obviously absolutely have to win, and, I assume, they will win.

Let’s go, Knicks!

The Dylan tune is “Workingman’s Blues #2” from Modern Times.

Dust or zombies.

Well, Knicks digging a little hill here. Nice to see.

I’m not able to watch but can check the box score. Is Deuce hurt or did Thibs change his mind about the starting point guard?

He’s out with an injury

Thanks ETW. It seems to be working, but also we are playing the Wizards.

Maybe Kolek will see real minutes.

Let some of the deep bench guys play tonight Thibs this isn’t really an NBA game

TYLER KOLEK KLAXON!

(first half minutes for the first time since the very first game of the season?!!?!)

“Clyde, do you want to go deer hunting?”
“Yeah, D-E-A-R hunting”
LOLOL!

Clyde is in absolutely vintage form

“I always say Willis is the greatest Knick.

Willis always said Patrick was the greatest Knick.

Patrick always said Patrick was”

(Let’s be clear, Clyde is the greatest Knick and it’s not close.)

Mikal trying to beat the 15 consecutive points that KAT scored 3 or 4 games ago.

No idea on the trivia.

Think that’s all I got for this one.

When the Wizards win you can blame me

I will add though that Breen’s comments about Sam Rosen also a perfect example of what makes him the best

Kolek 5 assist in 9 minutes. If he played 30 minutes a night he would be top 10 in APG #boldprediction

We are so lucky to have Clyde and Breen. 🧡💙

So happy to see Kolek get some burn. 7 ast already. Hope this makes Thibs play him and the young guys more.

Huh, with Brunson out, maybe Kolek could have been useful earlier eh Thibs?

Three steals for Kolek too. I wonder what Wizards fans are thinking

Let’s blow up the team and build around Kolek.

Oh yeah, Thibs is a moron. We have a real PG on the bench and he doesn’t use him no matter how stagnant the offense looks. smh

Could Taj have been the oldest Knick?

You’re right, he is old. LOL. But i don’t think he’s 40. The 2012-13 team had at least one 40yo player, if i remember correctly, and i think it was one of Kidd, Camby and Kurt Thomas. My money is on Thomas.

From a Wizards fan on a Wizards blog “Is Reed Sheppard better than Tyler Kolek?”

Wizards are sooo bad! Haven’t seen such a chaotic bunch of players in a very long time. Tough to call them a team. They don’t show coherence neither on offense nor on defense. This was a perfect opportunity for Kolek to get some burn. The Wizards didn’t go at him a single time.

every interview that mentions Tyler Kolek (assistant now, and Thibs in the past) have said how much he works behind the scenes.

So why is this the first time since GAME 1 OF THE SEASON he has seen minutes in the first half?! He isn’t an all star, but give him a chance (and not 1-2 minutes at the end of an already decided game)

Sure it’s the wizards…. but… rookies need development please

Good game to give mins to Dadiet. And he can even trash talk the Wizards players in french. 😀

Come on, sub in some of the bench already. Payne doesn’t need to be out there.

So the Wizards have 3 rookies that are all first round picks, said Breen. But the Nets can do better next season, they have 4 first round picks for the 2025 NBA Draft.

Man, Payne, despite his decent stats this game, does not pass the eye test. He just doesnt play that well. Feel like that’s an indictment on the bench that he gets so much playing time.

Yeah mostly thanks to us.

Take Kolek out and look what happens. I have to see what he does when he comes back in.

Mitch looks like he has done a lot of skill work. The dribbling and ballhandling look better.

That’s it, Breen, we can’t wait to see Clyde sign the 5 year extension.

Glad Mikal hasn’t seen the ball after 20points in the second quarter. Great they fed the hot hand

Just like several KB pundits who wanted Thibs to empty the bench early in the third quarter already, Knicks thought the game was over at halftime. They didn’t want to play and did their best to instill confidence to the Wizards. Great!

Win is still not guaranteed tonight, and it’s obvious we’d lose to any other team.

Yeah, but if this happened in that case you could send the starters back again, now what are you going to do? Call the Ghostbusters?

Thibs put Payne back who has experience. He made a three and turned the tide. Relax. Has it ever passed your mind that Thibs understands more basketball than us?

Regardless of the final score, this will go down as a moral loss. I’m expecting an early playoff exit. They have no depth and it’s really showing with the starters. They look tired.

Let’s agree to disagree

Just a strange season. I don’t hate it but it’s so all over the place this year. Kind of the polar opposite of last year.

Thank God the Wizards took out Smart.

Think they finally realized they might win this and hurt their tank job.

“the Rick Brunson tshirt costs 5 dollars, and the Jalen Brunson tshirt costs 99”
LOLOL

Pretty much what you would expect, only suspense is will the Knicks cover the point spread

So what was the trivia answer?

BBA got it right. Herb Williams, 41 years and 129 days.

KAT needs to stop driving to the basket. Just call a time out and pull him. Geez.

It’s not physical, it’s mental. This team lacks mental tenacity. They look like they are not interested in playing at times. This is on the coaching stuff, not the minutes. Other times, particularly without Brunson, they look lost when things don’t go their way. No leadership.

Shamet now down to 33% from 3, if he isn’t hitting threes he is useless in his playing time

The Knicks take on the worst team in the NBA

And they cut a 30 point lead to 2. Imagine if we were playing an average team tonight. A wins a win, but this team looks bereft of confidence, energy and mental toughness

And yet again, how many coaches do the Knicks have? Are they all nepotism hires, cause they aren’t earning their paychecks at the moment

Good game to give mins to Dadiet. And he can even trash talk the Wizards players in french.

Dadiet played 39 minutes last night and 35 two nights before in Westchester Coming off a foot injury, likely not to play tonight, even if he was dressed.

I was at that game!

The Knicks were killing it and the entire Garden started chanting “Herb, Herb, Herb” with about five minutes to go. Herb was put in as a sub with about three minutes to go. He scored one bucket and the crowd went wild.
