The Holy Mother of Choke Jobs.

Watched this morning and nearly threw my TV out of the window,
so I’m glad I did the right thing when I went to bed after the 1st quarter, annoyed by turnovers, isolations and… fucking missed FTs.

They did play better from the 2nd on,
RJ (A) had a fantastic game, Randle (A-) had a good one (FTs aside), IQ (A-) had a good one.

Brunson (D) forgot that at Christmas you must dress like an elf, not a clown, Robinson (C-) was schooled by Vuc all night long, Grimes (C) get a small pass because of his ankle, and I understand it’s stylish to keep 38.5 millions stashed in Siberia, but bench (C) need help.

Thibs (B) can’t do too much when the players botch FTs…

It took a lot of fantasy and effort to lose this game so well done guys.

Embiid looms, someone please warn Tanya.

    Note to NBA:
The “one challenge” rule is a joke!
You must have one until you blew it, successfull challenges must not count.
It’s not that hard to understand, you morons.

I didn’t get to watch this game..the way the temp dropped suddenly yesterday put me in old man mode and I crashed early LOL. Lookin at the box score makes me upset that we couldn’t take advantage of RJ and Randle having good games at the same time. And also, maybe Grimes came back too soon because the box score made me feel like LaVine had a fairly easy 33. I dunno. But..now we’re in a position where we absolutely have to beat Philly tomorrow. If not, panic might just set in. Unfortunately, Harden is playing like an All Star again, so we will have to be on our A game for sure.

RJ started off poorly in his good year, too, right?

That performance, admittedly against the Bulls defense, was like manna in the wilderness on RJ island.

It was also nice to see Randle amped and celebrating w the front row after his three point play. I didn’t realize how much Randle’s mood affects me til recently.

That was such a brutal loss. So many what ifs – what if we secure the rebound after the Bulls missed 3 pointer with 20 seconds left? What if Grimes or Brunson makes just one of their 4 FT’s? Or what if we shoot just a little bit better than 57% from the FT line for the game?

It’s just one loss, but we can’t afford giveaways like that, especially at home.

Though it was a shitty loss, taking the long view, losing on missed FTs is not so bad. Two main concerns: What will be Brunson’s response to how the Raptors and Bulls took him out of his game, which will be replicated by other teams; and how will Mitch respond to being thoroughly neutralized? RJ’s touch on his drives was a revelation and if he could be more selective in kicking out and not turning the ball over, he might have turned the corner. It’s great that he seems to be evolving in a positive fashion.

Yeah Bo, that’s a reasonable take. Barrett and IQ having great games is more important in the long run than wins and losses

But if we are going to make the playoffs, I’d sure rather be a 6 seed than an 8 seed, or worst case a play in team. So every loss hurts.

I usually don’t have a hangover from a loss, but that one still hurts.

I agree that RJ and Quick getting their act together is a positive, but both are very streaky. I want to see more consistently play. Naturally, a bad game or two is excusable, but we can’t have any more bad runs of 10 games.

The Raptors came back to beat the Cavs in Cleveland. I think both they and the Bulls are better than their records and could be turning the corner. I’ll say one thing, if the Bulls had Lonzo they would be VERY tough.

Agreed. Getting the team to play well consistently is way more important than playoff positioning. If the team’s not jelling and playing well, then the playoffs are somewhat of a wasted effort. We want a sustainable culture and identity. However, we still need to win tomorrow. 3 straight losses after 8 straight wins could be catastrophic for this team. Sure- we could recover, but the pressure to find and get rid of the ill-fitting pieces will exponentially intensify because folks are already fed up with Thibs, Randle, and even RJ and his slow starts. I think they’ve earned some good will..but this fan base is largely impatient- and rightfully so after all the fuckery we’ve witnessed since JVG

On the team side, they had a chance to win, should have won, and failed. That failure should stick in their minds so — when a game actually matters — they know how to play better. That’s the only way to spin this positive.

On the individual side, lots of good news from RJ, Randle, and IQ. Let’s keep them going.

I hope Thibs orders an entire day of free throws before they all run laps (haha).

I didn’t get to watch this game..the way the temp dropped suddenly yesterday put me in old man mode and I crashed early

finished up that Limitless series on Disney that dealt with trying to age successfully…

reinforced stuff like eating, sleeping, excersing and staying socially connected…

so, keep posting folks, stay connected…

it’s funny, they also mentioned turning the water to cold for the last 30 seconds of a shower…in order to help your immune system…

I had never heard that before myself, asked daughter and she was like: oh yeah, of course, everybody knows that…I didn’t know that…

the final episode delved in to acceptance of aging and death…

it’s good to be old 🙂

geo said: “it’s good to be old 🙂”

I like you, geo, but I simply cannot agree with this statement. 28 was way better than 58.

Wally with the assist, something he was loathe to do in his playing days:

“Haliburton’s week started with Knicks analyst Wally Szczerbiak, working for MSG Network, calling the Pacers guard “Mr. Supposed Wannabe Fake All-Star.” Szczerbiak later apologized for the comment. Haliburton has been on a tear since. He’s averaging 38 points in the two games since Szczerbiak’s line, with 16 3-pointers in those contests.”

Also, I thought Dred’s comment about Cam was insightful: “Cam: lowest usage in his career and highest efficiency in his career.”

It was funnier when we were 8-0, but taking this to the extreme, his current usage (zero) has an incredible efficiency.

not that I’m counting, but that’s now 3 games brunson has lost at the end…

There’s also games that Brunson has won at the end

I simply cannot agree with this statement. 28 was way better than 58

well then, those great aarp deals weren’t available to you at 28…no doubt at 28 you probably also had a lot more hair to have to deal with on a daily basis…

shoot, i don’t even need to brush my hair anymore after getting out of the shower…

also, think of all the time you used to waste chasing after sex, bet that’s not top of the list anymore…

see, you have more time to focus on more important stuff now, like a decent daily bowel movement…

i’m a little challenged at the moment to think of more great stuff about creeping up on 60, but, i’m at a loss…

although, i do kind of like telling folks i’m almost 60 – just on the off chance they may placate me and tell me i really don’t look that awful for someone so old…

Thank you Bo for that perspective.
You’re right: The loss was a choke job, but RJ and IQ playing well means way more than just one game. With RJ, I’ve always felt his strength should be better used as his calling card offensively to absorb contact while getting to his shot unimpeded. If he’s truly put the putrid play behind him…

Positive vibes on this Christmas Eve. I’m digging it.

geo said: “it’s good to be old 🙂”

I like you, geo, but I simply cannot agree with this statement. 28 was way better than 58.

From a health and youthful vigor standpoint, most likely yes. But life progress and perspective-wise?
When I was 28, I was working a minimum wage job while trying to find a broadcast outlet in Syracuse to take a shot on me while struggling with holding down a tiny apartment. And I was at 250lbs. I did end up with a gf that year that I ultimately moved in with, and later we moved to Albany bc she got a good career starter job out there and I seemed to exhaust my job search locally. It wasn’t all bad, but yeah, I’m much happier where I’m at now.

Somewhat related: my wife suggested I start a vlog as a soon to be 46-yr old (Jan 4) becoming a first time dad (due date Jan 28). She thinks I have a story to tell. What do you guys think?

We’ve played 33 games. RJ was terrible for the first 16, but has been very good the last 17 games.

Add it all up and he has still been more bad than good, but now I can see how RJ at least COULD be a good player— you can see the path. His good stretch of play has now been as long as his bad stretch. If he can consistently play the way he has played for the last quarter season or so, he’ll be a nice player.

Cdiggy, I say go for it. The change from guy with a girl to father with a wife and child is being shot over a wall you never really knew was there (even if you suspected its existence) and that separates those two lives as definitively as anything topped with razor wire and broken glass.

I think we all have a story to tell. Telling it well is another thing, of course. But if you can do it while being funny, and perhaps with a bit of wise now and again, why not. Think about your audience, and play to them. You might be surprised who you influence, and how (sadly you’ll rarely know, but I bet they’ll be out there…).

No, I don’t want any AARP deals. And my hair is still pretty OK.
And nope, I’m still constantly chasing, with various degrees of success. 🙂

And three times in the past month, I’ve been guessed by people much much younger than me to be “around 45.” I’ll take it as long as I can still get it!

    Different perspectives. All good.

i think it’s a great idea cdiggy…you’re already connected to communications, tied in closely with your community and you’re a family guy…

honestly, reading your posts over the years, it always just sounds like you’re continuing to grow…

my hair is still pretty OK.
And nope, I’m still constantly chasing, with various degrees of success.

will not let envy creep in to my mind…will not let envy enter in to my mind…will not let envy creep in to my mind…will not let envy enter in to my mind…will not let envy creep in to my mind…will not let envy enter in to my mind…

Positive vibes on this Christmas Eve. I’m digging it.

Oh but Jowles is here now

2022 can kiss my white ass

James Dolan can also kiss my white ass and then wash the taste out with Clorox

And then he can mama-bird the backwash to Wally

May Clyde and Breen live forever though

googling best things about getting old – seems like a lot of intangibles…

although you would think asset accumulation would be a big thing…although conversely – seems the big benefit of oldness is perspective…

45 with 2 left shoulder surgeries, 1 right shoulder surgery, 2 surgeries to remove a cancer and left your body struggling to regulate temperature at times has been sooooo fun lol

    And I’m with Jowles..fuck ’22
And fuck 12 too- for the street side LOL

Today is likely gonna be a hot eggnog mixed Witt Disaronno Velvet or SoCo and Xbox day. I have rearranged furniture, moved things to the shed, and fixed a storm door and the frame outside in 20 degree weather already today. I’m over it. Mt favorite liquor store BETTER have that Disaronno Velvet in stock lol

@CDiggy- I agree with Raven’s two main points and will add a third. You are a very likable person, very relatable, with some interesting life arcs to tell thus you will engage readers in your narrative ( sort of like Coach Mo). I say go for it. Writing can be a very meditative and therapeutic process if you have the time.
As for getting old, I am about to hit 69 and have accepted the plateau that comes at this point in my life. You do accrue wisdom as you age that gives you a perspective that allows you to manage the vicissitudes of life much better than in your younger days. At the same time, you realize that there are many things that you simply cannot do anymore and there are times when you wish you could be thirty for a few days.

Like Z-man said last night, tough to beat the same team 3 times in a row. Maybe a bit of the recent run of good luck evening out a bit, as well.

Now the Mets also have concerns with a Correa physical. Rumors of a debilitating issue with his right leg…

At any rate, Happy Holidays to you all! And Slava Ukraine!

This loss annoyed me more than the Toronto one because I think Toronto, despite their recent form, is a better team than the Bulls and was due a turnaround. I think the Bulls have an ill fitting core and are simply just a mediocre team, so it hurts to throw away a game on such simple mistakes like those free throws in the 4th.

Still reasons to be excited about RJ and IQ, so everything is fine. This season has been very weird with teams making runs and dropping in form or vice versa, so it’s still too early to get a clear picture of who’s actually a playoff team and who’s not, but we’re still on a good track.

On a positive note the Knicks are Top 10 in both offense and defense ratings plus they’re SRS rating is also in the Top 10.

Mets should front load a shorter contract that has easily attainable vesting options on the back end.

Jowles, I read the first line of your response and A. Literally lol’d and B. Had to put my phone down so I could not get distracted from my honey-do list that thankfully now I’m more than halfway through.
In your honor, imma take a capful of this Clorox and pour it out for the homies… and into this mop bucket.

CDiggy, right there with u on the honeydo list…just cleaned shme shit stains out of a carpet (from my old dog, not me watching the end of last night’s debacle) and then have to epoxy a porcelain toilet tank that a member of my household broke (again not me although nothing breakable was safe after that ending either).

There’s only one thing good about being old….you don’t have to worry about dying young any more.

Research indicates that happiness bottoms in your mid forties, just a little bit of a gully, and then increases into your seventies before dipping slightly in your eighties.

Not sure how the curve looks for Knicks fan though….

    happy hanukah…merry xmas…

off to lake tahoe…going to carve some turns…haven’t skied since pre covid…gonna be shaky….

won’t see the game tomorrow…but mitch better pull his head out or embiid is going to wreak havoc…

Z-man I had to do some toilet diagnostics when I visited my attic unit (my bachelor pad turned landing quarters) in my Syracuse property back in June. I wonder (humorously) what my stepkids will do when the day comes when either of them have to diagnose a toilet issue and they have to do it themselves. I’ll probably get more of a kick out of it than I should.

Otherwise, I just finished my list: installed a couple of wall shelves for the kitchen, thoroughly cleaned the dining and living room. Mopped hallway and entry stairs (we live on the 2nd floor). Honestly, I could use the exercise – preggo-sympathy weight gain is real!

Thanks y’all, I’m not totally back but it feels good to feel 10%

Shout out to my therapist for unknowingly keeping me from jumping into the Columbia

Bo and Raven, I can’t thank either of you enough for the kind words and inspiration. My wife and I decided that our Christmas gift to each other would be a Canon to capture and document Cooper’s arrival, so that’s where she got the idea about me vlogging.

Jowles, one thing that older age brings is a safe distance to look back on painful chapters and wonder how the hell one ever got through them. Wishing you all the best in putting many better times between you and 2022.

see, you have more time to focus on more important stuff now, like a decent daily bowel movement…

FACTZ!!! Never sleep on the importance of staying “regular”.

But for real, thanks geo for the support. I could not have maintained the exact same behaviors and thought processes as I has moving out here. Don’t ever let anyone ever tell you that softening up is easy. Especially as a New Yorker.

2022 wasn’t the greatest year for me either, THCJ. It was a long, extended meditation on grief and loss.

I totally feel when you say you’re at 10%, and you’re thankful for that. There were definitely a lot of days when I felt less than 10%. Then I made it to 10% as kind of a baseline. Then 25%. And on some days it seems like I make it all the way to 50%.

I know I may never get beyond 50% again. I know for sure I’ll never get back to 100%. But I’m learning to be okay with 50%, and keeping hope alive that I can push beyond that someday.

But 10% still ain’t bad. Better days ahead.

Research indicates that happiness bottoms in your mid forties,

I cratered a long time ago. I think I’m actually peaking in my mid 40’s.

Honestly guys, I love this whole “I have a son, and not a wife” deal. If I had known this was an option sooner…

Took the little guy to see the big tree today. He did pretty well for a four-year old from Key Biscayne, Florida in 15 degree weather. Enjoyed the feast of the seven fishes (best way to celebrate Xmas Eve, IMHO) at Lil’ Frankie’s, as well. Tomorrow we watch our first Knicks game together.

And I was at -50% 3 years ago. So keep going. You got this.

that’s so cool hubie…there’s definitely a certain buzz you get from parenting…

it weird, just watching them eat can make you feel good…

the whole selfless service thing is freeing…

most unexpected aspect, just how much they’ve each made me a better person…I’m starting to get a little better understanding of the whole legacy thing with the kids…

have you given much thought to a format or theme for your vlog stuff cdiggy?

I picked up a gopro for the kid’s basketball games…I want to understand the process of putting stuff together and having it accessible for some folks somewhere…haven’t really placed any time in to it though…
