I think preseason matters a little bit. We confirmed some important things:

    -10-deep rotation is as expected
-Mitch is much improved over this time last year
    -Brunson is legit
    -Everyone is reasonably healthy
-Nice vibe, no extraneous drama or outsized expectations, seems like everyone on the team knows what to expect.

Then there are things that were nice to see but can’t be counted on:
-Randle deferring more…shot attempts and turnovers down
-RJ shooting and scoring very well, that version is worth the extension

Beyond that, nothing really consistent to count on. Fournier IQ, Hart, and Obi had moments but mostly just blended in. Rose and Grimes didn’t play much. Chemistry still a work in progress, especially on second unit.

I think we are going to give Memphis all they can handle, especially without JJJ.

The regular season is almost here….

Mitch turning a corner would make this season so much more fun

To me RJ and Mitch have been the steadiest in these 4 games, both look reliable and ready to jump to another level.

Here and there we’ll probably still witness a 3-19 shooting night from RJ (12-24 3PT, 13-16 FT, only 5 TO in preseason) and some rim-breaker performance at the line from Mitch (19-25 FG, 6-8 FT, very good defense), but they seem poised for a “young veterans” breakout season and if it happens their contracts will look like gold.

    Fingers crossed.

I mentioned this after being at game 1 but Mitch’s size just really stands out physically. He dwarfs everone else on the court, at least so far.

Anyone else think the second unit issues is partially related to Cam? He’s clearly the prototypical $1M dollar body, 10 cent brain. It’s almost like he doesn’t know what to do on a basketball court. His FG% is 21%, yet he’s attempting 7 shots per game!

At this point, you’d have to be shocked if the Knicks keep him, no?

I know (some) fans gave Thibs sh** last year for it, but not playing Cam was clearly the right move.

I know people like to look for the bright side this time of the season, but like Brian i don’t think preseason games have worth for that. I think it’s the other way around, we should look for possible flaws that even in the preseason we weren’t able to hide.
2nd unit being a big advantage? Last night the 2nd unit was a disaster and at Indiana they were bad too, not a disaster but bad, at least in the half that i watched (1st half). I think the 2nd unit has problems to solve, Quick is probably the key, if he plays well they look good, if he plays like yesterday they don’t look good. Then we have Hart’s defense, maybe he is a good defender if paired with other good defenders, like LAC had last season. On this unit it’s not really working. Probably they need time to gel, but right now i wouldn’t declare that our bench will be a strength. It’s a wait and see case.
Randle is deferring, yeah, but i don’t think he’s playing all that well. I need more games to check this, but he looks uncomfortable in his new role, at least it’s what my eye test is telling me.
Last, but definitely not least, our offense was again stopped easily in the only game that the opponent played good defense, at Indiana i mean, with that pesty PG McConnell hounding Brunson. I’m guessing Brunson will improve on this, but for now it wasn’t a good look. And without Brunson cooking, the rest of the offense choked. This could be our biggest problem, we’re easy to stop if the opponent defends well and decides to do it. TBC.
Now the good bits, and the reasons why i’m still hopeful of a good season. Brunson, he’s good, and he’ll be better at orchestrating the offense once he has a lot more games on his belt. He needs to know more about the other players in game situations, so let’s give him some time. RJ is looking great, and this is the most important thing for us, if RJ can elevate his game to borderline all star, we’ll be much better positioned for the future. This is my main goal for this season, and not wins like you guys want. Predicting 45+ wins is worthless if RJ doesn’t improve a lot. And Mitch, he’s really dominating, and the way he does it, like grabbing a lot of ORB, i think it’s not a problem that he isn’t a stretch-5. You can’t dominate the offensive board if you’re not around the basket, right?
So for me, Brunson, RJ and Mitch are the bright spots and this is good, it’s 3/5 of the starters. Then we just need to solve the rest. Is Grimes worthy of starting at SG? Can we swap Randle, if he looks better, with a much better option at PF? A stretch-4, please. Those are the big questions.
Our 2nd unit is nice, and if they manage to dominate other 2nd units that’ll be important too. But i think they’ll top out as backups, Quick, Obi and Hart. So for the future, the starters are what matters.

Akinjo? He takes awful shots- which is why is shooting percentages are low. But I guess he’s good to develop in Westchester. The kid loves defense and has an offensive game. I’d still rather see Deuce than Akinjo. If Deuce had Akinjo’s quickness off the dribble, he’d be the backup PG lol

Sadly, I didn’t get to watch the game. The boss had me out and about because her friend at school had a birthday party. It would have been fun to watch Mitch destroy Washington’s bigs, but playing Dad is pretty cool too. My boys are 24 and 21..while the boss is 10- so she’s killin me LOL

Yeah, trading for Cam was so predictably bad, seems like something WWW or Perry would push for. Certainly not Thibs and probably not Perrin. Maybe Bryant thought he could fix him?

Really a headscratcher. But the buck stops with Leon. Can’t sign off on that shit.

@KBlogger/D’Antoni — I don’t think the 2nd Unit had problems b/c of Cam. He was basically just a shirt running around in the wrong place.

Sadly (to my eye test) IQ was the main one out of sorts. Folks have mentioned IQ had a long slump last year before finishing strong. In preseason, he has looked like slump-IQ, tentative and out of sync with his teammates.

DRose was back last night, so I expected a bit more from the entire 2nd team, but IQ and Obi had nothing. Even Hart was a non-factor after a good previous game.

BTW, Obi left the game limping and went to the locker room. I haven’t heard any update (unless it’s buried in the links above). No bueno.

Grimes was a total non-factor. Maybe that’s fine b/c it was his first game back, but I’m still waiting for him to display the reason for all the hype. Thibs put the starters back out to close the game (making me/us cranky) but then I thought he wanted to try Grimes instead of Fournier with the 1st unit, so maybe there is some (useful) madness in Thibs’s method after all.

Ja looked incredible in the halftime highlights, but, you know: highlights. Allons-y!

    44 or more!

    Randle: 20.1%
    Brunson: 25%
    Fournier: 16.1%
    Mitch: 19.3% (!)

At this point, you’d have to be shocked if the Knicks keep him, no?

Yeah, he’ll follow the Knox and Ntilikina route, like every other draft bust that we had. Let some other team fall in love with his potential.

EDIT/PS: Yeah, as Max and Z-Man say above, the a-story of the game was Mitch, just dominating. The quiet b-story was Brunson who gave us everything as advertised and scored in places where the Knicks usually have no answer. 27 pts, 10/16, 3/5 from three, 4/4 ft, 4 bounds, 5 assts, and a steal. Last night he was the right guy. RJ prolly had the best overall pre-season after Mitch. Randle was a mess but, it must be said, not his usual mess, as in he didn’t destroy the good play of others with his “folly.”

Of note, also, someone flagged it last night in the game thread. For a long period in the game, we were ahead with Mitch as our leading scorer having taken the most shots. That is a very good thing to lean on if possible. Guy never misses.

EDIT2: Yeah, as per his name, Early Bird beat me to it (and more succinctly) 19% usage for Mitch is bueno-bueno.

My boys are 24 and 21..while the boss is 10- so she’s killin me LOL

I’m guessing she’s the boss of the boys too. 😉

I thought the Knicks first team offense looked good overall except when they faced full court pressure or something close to that. Then they seemed to have problems. Indiana did this a lot in the second game and Washington put pressure sometimes too. Maybe it was good experience for the Knicks. I thought Obi shot terribly from three. But he took a reasonable number of shots because if the team saw him open and they weren’t open they passed to him and he took the shot. The opponents seemed to be defending him in a way that let this happen but didn’t let him cut to the basket. That’s a real problem that hurt the second unit.

In the loss both RJ & Randle shot well—RJ 21pts on 14 shots & Randle 13pts on 10 shots—the problem was the 2nd unit.

IQ, Cam, & Deuce were a combined 8 for 34. Brunson being good or bad that game wasn’t really the issue.

Z-man, that’s a good question. I’d have to say Feron Hunt is our third string power forward, but I guess you could go small ball and play a center and a bunch of wings.

I don’t think you can tell much about the second unit until Rose plays more minutes and gets in the groove. He takes a lot of pressure off of everybody else.

Keels and Hunt are to develop in Westchester. I’m guessing Arch and Svi will be cut, and we’ll pick the last 2 roster spots from the waiver wire. One SF and one PF, probably. Maybe some veteran that can be called and not embarrass himself, like we had Taj last season. Or some young guy with potential, but if it’s another Cam Reddish, i think i prefer the veteran option.

IQ means a lot for the bench unit because he shoots A LOT and he’s been off-target like he was at the start of last year. Let’s hope he shakes this off quickly (no pun intended).
Rose will help stabilize that (at one point yesterday he more or less took the ball out of IQ’s hands after he had some shaky decisions).
I-Hart needs time to blend in, the teammates are not accustomed with a big that play the high post so well and he’s a different kind of defender.
Obi will be okay, even in bad games he finds way to do something positive.
I think Cam will be glued to the bench while Grimes or Fournier take his place.

Brunson’s as advertised if not better.
Will he suffer pressuring defense? Maybe, but do we remember last year’s Burks against the pressure?

I still think this is a deep team and hope that even with the rotations ironing out for the regular season Thibs will find a way to use the flexibility well.

Randle’s preseason per 36 line is right around 20-10-6. He had a 55 TS% on 21.4% USG. He only shot 27.3% from 3.

    Randle was fantastic this preseason.

BTW, Obi left the game limping and went to the locker room. I haven’t heard any update (unless it’s buried in the links above). No bueno.

Thibs said Obi tweaked his ankle. I haven’t heard news beyond that.

Yeah Randle’s threes looked really bad. I was hoping he’d be better than that.

    Maybe Sims?

Sims can’t play PF, he doesn’t have the range. If Hart was what we’ve been told, maybe he could do it, but until now he hasn’t shown it. And to me, he looks too slow in his release to play PF. As a C if you go to the 3P line your defender is not near you, because he’s a C too and he’ll need to keep an eye on the paint, but as a PF the defender will be all over you. I don’t think Hart can do it. We need a 3rd string PF from the waiver wire, let’s hope some other team cuts a good player and take him.

We need a 3rd string PF from the waiver wire

By gawd, is that Carmelo Anthony’s music?!?!?!

    (I kid! I kid!)

I assumed iHart would be the 3rd string PF with Sims stepping in at C.

If not, we always have a certain high pedigree 6’8″ forward on the roster… 🤮

By gawd, is that Carmelo Anthony’s music?!?!?!

I’m coming home, I’m coming home. Tell the world I’m coming home….

    Re: Randle

While his body language did stay positive and his effort on defense more than adequate, yesterday I caught glimpses of “old” Randle creeping in on offense. He botched at least three fastbreak opportunities because he didn’t want to pass the ball to the teammate streaking toward the basket and let opposing defense came back and set.
I know that changing his approach it’s not an on-off switch and it will take time (real life is not a videogame) and I think his preseason has been a net positive, his attitude looks fine.
Let’s hope he continues like that.

You know, Hunt seems ok to me. He might do in a pinch. Otherwise I think we’ll go small and maybe use Mykhaliuk. He can really shoot. If we had Hartenstein, Rose, Quickley, Mykhaliuk and Reddish or Grimes, that would be a good shooting line up. .

One of Sam Vecenie’s bold predictions for the season is the Knicks will make a move to the youth movement this season. Starts around 48min into podcast.

I’m curious what, if any, star player seems poised to agitate for an in-season trade this season. Hard to see one on the horizon. If the Raptors have a disappointing season, I can see Siakim wanting to move. Anything is possible with Jimmy Butler. I don’t see one coming up but I didn’t see Gobert and Mitchell coming, either.

“Let’s hope he (Randle) continues like that.”
    **
I think Randle will be fine if we win. If/when we start losing, I’m afraid for his particular version of “stepping up.”

I’m really happy we have Mitch back in the fold. That contract looks REALLY good right now: it goes 17/15/14/12 over the four years. Kudos to Leon for that deal. That will generate surplus value almost undoubtedly.

I have always felt that Mitch was extremely talented, and still had another level to unlock, and he’s playing that way so far this preseason. He hasn’t totally reinvented his game, but he seems to have expanded it a little bit and is playing smart and under control, and he has unquestionably been productive.

The 2nd unit is struggling because Rose hasn’t been playing much, Quick is STILL NOT a PG, Hart is kind of on and off, and the shooting has been poor. Quick had that especially bad night and Obi is limited and inconsistent from 3. Once we get into the swing of things and Rose is leading that unit it should be fine, but that unit to a large extent depends on Quick’s shooting. If he’s shooting well, they do well. If he’s shooting poorly, that unit does poorly. That’s the way it was last year and that’s the way it will probably be this year. Our huge slump last year was all Quick playing horribly and the turnaround at the end was all Quick playing well.

“We need a 3rd string PF from the waiver wire”

We need a 3rd string PG also or that’s going to bite us in the ass 2 years in a row. We know Rose is going to miss some time and can’t handle starter minutes. And sooner or later Brunson is going to miss games too.

It’s monumental idiocy to not have another decent PG.

Quick and Deuce are NOT PGs. They could be 3rd string IF Rose was able to handle starter minutes when Brunson was out, but he can’t. So you need another decent quality PG that could start if Brunson is out.

You can see the problems when Brunson is off the court. It’s a replay of last year. You need someone that can organize and run the offense, get in the paint, make some plays etc…

I, for one, will love if our biggest argument this year is about who should be our 2nd string point guard 😉

Eye-test information for the Grimes Should Start crowd: E4 had a quiet game shooting but was solid otherwise all around, 5 boards, 5 assists, 1 block. He also seemed to facilitate more than usual with several nice passes for easy buckets. Maybe he helps the 2nd unit.

One Fournier pass of note was basically an Obi basket but it was Brunson releasing early and getting a fast break layup from E4’s good look. I thought 2 things: When was the last time I saw our point guard get a freebie like that (ha). And also maybe Thibs (or someone) is now actually preaching certain plays by design (you know, like a coach) so the whole team can plug and play no matter the personnel. A good sign.

So we should pick up a veteran PG to help the team and a veteran 3rd string PF. So we should get some mercs!!!

Any commentary on Van Gundy’s gushing over Thibs’ coaching job last year? Reads like a puff piece as a favor to an old friend…

“So we should pick up a veteran PG to help the team and a veteran 3rd string PF. So we should get some mercs!!!”

EDIT: Still waiting on the Geo update. Concert? Cowboy Hat? Boots?

We need a 3rd string PG also

If the infos about free agent-G Leaguers are correct, my choices for the role will be DJ Augustin or Kris Dunn…

Any commentary on Van Gundy’s gushing over Thibs’ coaching job last year? Reads like a puff piece as a favor to an old friend…

Which one of the Van Gundies? Jeff in a couple of broadcasts last year talk about Thibs’ stubborness with the same starting five, and not in a positive way, but generally he’s always a coaches’ defender.

Even pro-Thibs crusaders have difficulties calling last year a “good job” (in the chinese calendar it went as the “Alec Burks Starting PG” year) even if had mitigating circumstances (mainly Rose’s injury and the Kemba Fiasco) but his Randle’s management was awful.

His Randle management was awful but to his credit, the team didn’t give up on him or tune him out. When you’re having a disappointing season that can very easily happen but it didn’t.

His Randle management was awful but to his credit, the team didn’t give up on him or tune him out. When you’re having a disappointing season that can very easily happen but it didn’t.

    Yes, that’s a fair assessment.
And the season ended on a somewhat “serene” note when we fell out of the play-in, Randle sat with his injury and everyone looked more “relaxed”.

We need to find out for sure what Quickley and Deuce can do for sure. If neither of them can play pg, then we need to replace them. I would hate to sign someone like DJ Augustin to fill a hole in a year where we’re not expected to do much anyway. The same goes for the forward spots. We need this year to evaluate guys that we have and then we can retool in the offseason.

KBA, agree with you on Evian. I’ve always liked that he dribbles up the floor with his head up, clearly looking for open teammates. If Brunson isn’t bringing the ball up, I’d much rather it be Fournier than Randle, that’s for sure.

IQ has been weird. He’s basically playing like he did to start last season, which is somewhat tentatively and not very well. Many of us presumed that was because he was learning the point, but he’s not currently ‘playing point’ the way he was at the close of the year, when many of us here thought he WAS our back-up (or at least third-string) PG. Not sure what’s up there.

We’re operating as a win-now team, so we might as well go out and get DJ Augustin and Derrick Favors or their merc equivalents. Instead of trying to shoehorn Quickley into a role in which he’s not ideal we should just let him be himself. Same with Deuce, he’s a defensive specialist and not a PG.

I’m obviously a “rebuild” kind of guy but that’s not what we’re doing, so we might as well lean into “win now” and fill some of these holes with vet min guys. The end-of-roster prospects who are kicking around don’t look all that exciting to me.

“IQ has been weird. He’s basically playing like he did to start last season, which is somewhat tentatively and not very well … Not sure what’s up there.”

    **
Totally agree. IQ prolly needs one early game in which he just goes off for 30 and swims on the floor and stuff (I think). Like you, I really expected him to come into this season full of confidence after the way he finished last year. I’m not sure why that is not happening, yet*.

From the department of Therapy-Couch-Not-Stats (nothing to read here, move along) I did notice in some of the BTS stuff at halftime that Hartenstein, in particular, was being kind of a dick to IQ, razzing him like a “loser” rookie and stuff. OF COURSE, this happens all the time, and they were just mugging for the camera, but a new locker room dynamic can be a real thing. It may take time for IQ to find his new groove with personalities different from Taj who is prolly a super-positive guy BTS. IQ always strikes me as a very gentle-positive-glory-to-god kind of guy. Let’s get him straight before we sign, um, Starbury 😉

    *growth mindset.

We have the seventh youngest team in the league. We are by no means a win now team. I’m not sure Quickley or Deuce can’t be competent pg’s. I think they deserve a chance to prove it on the court over an entire season and then be evaluated on that.

Deuce isn’t really a top prospect so I don’t really care what they do with him. He’s a low ceiling player IMO.

Quickley, on the other hand, is a very good young player and I think we should let him play to his strengths rather than trying to shoehorn him into a role for which he’s not ideal.

Maybe my previous post on the subject was misleading, I’do go with DJ Augustin or Kris Dunn only IF the Front Office decide to take a vet at the minimum as the 3rd string PG (everything to avoid Elfrid Payton’s Part III)

To me our 3rd string PG is IQ, even if I think he’s better suited for the Lou Williams role (despite his recently shooting woes), I agree with Z-Man that he looked competent in the second half last year.

And if we’re talking about “organize and run the offense” don’t forget Arcidiacono!

    LOL

I have confidence in IQ at PG. He showed us last year he’s capable of handling it. We could also run the offense through iHart, if needed.

Grimes didn’t hit either of his shots, but he moved very well on defense.

Yes IQ did. Even if he’s not a pure pg, he is a least a combo guard, which means he has to be able to handle some pg responsibilities. We have enough shooting guards already. Rose won’t be around forever, so either Quickley or Deuce will have to step up. Deuce while not being very creative off the dribble, can be a Patrick Beverly type back up pg.

Well, the idea for bringing in a guy like Augustin would be for injury insurance, so Quickley doesn’t need to become the backup PG if Rose misses extended time. I’m ok with running Quick out as PG for limited minutes, but I’d rather be able to use him in his ideal role most of the time.

I’d take a punch in the face for $140 million.

@EB Thibs gonna Thibs. Although it really didn’t feel like he over used anybody.

“@EB Thibs gonna Thibs. Although it really didn’t feel like he over used anybody.”

Agree, and to be honest I didn’t dislike Thibs’ player rotations. He was trying a lot of new stuff, like running Barrett with the second unit, etc etc.

And unlike a lot of teams, our kids ARE our regular rotation players. The player quality falls off a cliff after Deuce (he said, drawing a line).

Sadly I’d put Cam on the other side of the cliff, but even he got a lot of run to show he’s got nothing, at least in his noggin.

And Deuce did get run, even if he didn’t light it up. It wasn’t until the last game that he was back in his last-two-minutes-of-a-blowout role.

Would MSGS pay a huge tax bill if the Knicks accumulated a bunch of really good players?

best of luck next saturday cdiggy…that sounds like a really fun event to help put on…no doubt a lot of people will have the chance to enjoy themselves…all ages…

what a blessing to get a chance to welcome another child in to your family…yep, get some rest, have a plan, find another plan when that one goes astray, and keep moving forward…

oh, and breathe, do not forget to take a moment to breathe 🙂

jenny and the mexicats were a tremendous amount of fun…

ended up going with a long time friend who was in town for business, and also a romantic partner of his…the whole evening was a blast…

the audience was probably around a 100(?) people, about 40 people or so where close to the stage…the venue was a basement, the AC made it feel like a fridge…

the good part is i was very alert throughout the show…

the music was sublime…literally they ended the gig with santeria – it was a blast…at times they were down in amongst the audience performing…

they are a hella fun band to see…most eveything was in spanish, which i don’t understand, but – still wasn’t too big a deal…i could tell from the reactions of the folks around me what was going on…

drinking, dancing, romancing and partying…yeah, it was a really good time…

    thanks for the recommendation Raven…

the band consists of two guitarists (brothers), lead singer (also plays trumpet), and a percussionist (small kit and some kind of “box”, with ridges, thing he was sitting on)…

one of the most interesting aspects of their performance is that the percussionist, David González Bernardos – didn’t use any sticks…

had his fingers taped up…that was interesting, haven’t seen before…

OFFICIAL: #Cavs waive Sharife Cooper, Mamadi Diakite, Nate Hinton, R.J. Nembhard and Jamorko Pickett

Remember when Sharife Cooper was a thing?

Jared Butler got cut by the Jazz?!? He had a heart condition that made him drop in the 2021 draft. Obviously that needs to be looked into to see if he can play at all. But if he’s cleared we should grab him.

I bought into Shariffe Cooper for a bit during that draft but his weaknesses are too glaring.

Didn’t see the game last night, but watched the highlights and Mitch looks like a man among boys. His bounce looks like it did as a rookie and he’s using the added size to body opposing bigs for extra boards. His defense might be even more of an asset—I know Washington’s guards aren’t the cream of the crop but they looked downright terrified to challenge him on the plays I saw. What a steal that guy is on a 4/$60M descending deal.

Arcidiacono news is a bummer. You don’t have to have much faith in someone like Sharife Cooper to think he’d be a better use of that spot.

Here’s another good use of only the fingers taped up, a cajon and the sleigh bells on his foot. 😉

    Likely opening day roster:

    Brunson/Rose/Arcidiacono
    Founier/Quickley/Deuce/Keels-2W
    RJ/Grimes/Svi/Cam
    Randle/Obi/Hunt-2W
    Mitch/Hartenstein/Sims

Arcidiacono & Svi are on non-guaranteed deals. Last year Knicks cycled through a lot of players for the g-league pay bonus.

Brunson’s constant movement and Mitch’s improved positioning are the two things that i liked most from preseason.
Gafford’s driving from the left dunk after passing Mitch was a sign that he ain’t perfect yet but he’s definitely matured and has taken the next step on being a great Center.

    Woj:

Reporting with @Kendra_Andrews: Golden State Warriors All-Star Andrew Wiggins has agreed to a four-year, $109 million extension, his agents Drew Morrison and Steven Heumann of CAA Sports tell ESPN. Wiggins is now tied to the Warriors for five-years, $143 million.

Last year Knicks cycled through a lot of players for the g-league pay bonus.

We did it this year too, EB, before we signed Arch and Svi.

Wanna also believe that team played at a very low to medium intensity on D to avoid injuries and opponents’ wrath And that when we go to Memphis Ja would have to sweat like Elvis if he want to beat us.
That’s my only wish for this season.
    High intensity D.
I’m not worried about the rest

Svi is an interesting player. He was in the Raptors rotation last year (and OKC & Detroit’s rotation prior). He played 13min a game for 56 games, including 5 starts.

His shot seemingly evaporated despite being a 35% career shooter on over 800 attempts. Although much of that was from a single season in Detroit. Weird since he was a shooter coming into the league.

    BTW, he’s only 25.

Wiggins extension pretty interesting. I expected a much bigger number. Not sure what it means – that he wanted to stay or his market was soft.

We did it this year too, EB, before we signed Arch and Svi.

Am I confusing years? I might be, this transactions tend to slip my mind.

I’ll say that if Montero’s buyout can be negotiated, then he might find a spot.

Arcidiacono has championship chemistry with our starting PG you can’t put a number on that

Apparently the Warriors are going to pay 275 million in 2024 in luxury tax alone

    Which, what, shit….

    Bondy:

Cam Reddish will not do an extension before the season opener, according to a source.

I am trying to imagine the conversations between Leon and Cam’s agent on this.

#Cam Reddish will not do an extension before the season opener, according to a source.#

Is this about money or hair extension?

2022-23 Knicks Exhibit-10 contracts: James Akinjo, Jalen Harris, DaQuan Jeffries, Garrison Brooks, Nuni Omot, MJ Walker, Quinton Rose; (for Westchester)
Looks like we couldn’t reach an agreement for Montero’s buyout with overseas club Gran Canaria (Spain). No worries, Westchester or europe is the same, we bring him in next year. I’m guessing this is the last year under contract with Gran Canaria, because he played for them in 2019-20 (2nd team) and 2020-21 (some games for the 1st team), then he was loaned to the Overtime Elite for the 2021-22 season. So 2022-23 will be his 4th season there and it’s not usual to have 5 year contracts in europe.

If we get 2 2nd rounders for Cam I’ll consider the trade as “the rise of the phoenix” and celebrate it as a championship!

I’d strongly suggest Cam start learning another language

With the way he plays, without effort, i’d suggest chinese because here in europe we can’t stand lazy players.

Wiggins extension pretty interesting. I expected a much bigger number. Not sure what it means – that he wanted to stay or his market was soft.

He wanted to stay. There’s always the Kings! 😀

Alan…I would say “conversation ” singular…can’t imagine they needed more than a minute or two in the one they had to discuss it…

Saben Lee just got waived for the 2nd time in 3 days. Must really be playing like crap

Alan…I would say “conversation ” singular…can’t imagine they needed more than a minute or two in the one they had to discuss it…

Cam: “Hey Leon, are you gonna make me an offer for the extension?”
    Leon: “No”
    End of conversation.

Fwiw, Saben was one of the only promising players the year we cycled that 2nd rd pick.

Apparently the Suns also cut Adonis Arms

No idea who he is but we should sign him asap

“Didn’t see the game last night, but watched the highlights and Mitch looks like a man among boys. I watched the highlights today too, and totally agree with this assessment. There was one play where he gathered the ball underneath and just went straight up and slammed it through with at least 3 Wiz surrounding him. Reminded me of vintage Shaq.

This could be a big year for MitchRob.

With our rotation shaking out as it has, it’s hard to argue that we shouldn’t have just made the trade for Spida (yes I know it was more about the draft picks but still.) I like Grimes as much as we all do, but come on… in the end, he’s a role player.

True, Mitchell wasn’t the best fit, but I have to think he was worth the gamble. Unfortunately, this administration clearly tries to get cute with trades and other teams don’t seem to appreciate it.

In the end, it’s not a huge loss — maybe the difference between an 8 seed and a 6 seed over the life of Spida’s contract — but hopefully this won’t happen with the next star that comes on the market.

My guess is one of Boston’s big two will want out after a subpar season or someone in New Orleans if Zion gets hurt again (Zion or Ingram).

Draymond isn’t getting extended for anything close to what he’s asking for and I could see him taking a 2023-24 haircut from another team in exchange for long-term security. Wiggins will be an overpay when the Warriors don’t have the league’s best defense without Draymond.

Bob Myers has straight-up said that it’s unrealistic to pay that kind of money for a 12-man roster. It’s not happening. They will trade Wiggins and/or Draymond for value if possible.

Dubs fans are going to hate watching twilight-career Curry top out with a 45-win team but that’s what’s likely to happen. His playoff performance was really something special –he basically replicated his first MVP season’s playoff run, off by 1 point in TS with a higher usage — but it’s hard to see this being a plateau he stays on through his mid-thirties. He’ll be a valuable NBA player until he can’t make a jump shot but you don’t pay a guy $50M a year to be anything less than a floor leader.

Should be interesting for them. Regardless of what happens, Dubs fans are fucking insufferable and I hope they get a dose of reality on the tail end of this.

    howdy pepper 🙂

hope you’re having a chance to kick back and chill today…

it’s overcast and cool down this way today, very welcome change…plants in the garden are especially appreciative…

thinking of bringing daughter to the palladium to go see this show…it’s supposed to be halloween themed, whatever that might mean…

it’s a general admission show, and there are 4 acts, it’ll be long…so fuck any costumes, I just wanna be comfortable…and make sure no one bothers daughter…

    maybe wear some knick gear…

doing some office meeting thing next week with halloween theme, going as a knick fan (I even got knick socks)…

After watching the Braves get their asses kicked by the Phillies, I feel a lot better about the Mets’ future. The playoffs truly are a crapshoot and you might as well flip a coin to decide who is going to win these series.

Just keep spending money and making the playoffs and eventually you’ll win the coin flips.

Yeah baseball among all the sports is pretty random come playoff time. All it takes is a hot pitcher or a couple of hot hitters and any team can pretty much beat any team in a 5 game series.

    And Aaron Judge….oof…

after greenlighting the notion of workplace violence in a very public way – I ain’t so much rooting for them, especially their front office…

makes me question some of the front offices’ previous statements and actions…

I do see great humor in those banned from MSG lawyers taking legal…

like seriously, what did he think he would hapoen…

man, that’s someone who has unbelievable I do not give a fuck kind of money…

I know I’ll never be able to walk this comment back, but I kind of got mad respect for his pettiness game…it’s next level posturing…

obviously not in regards to some of his more despicable corporate behavior…

seriously – name a more curious and interesting owner moments than the letter he wrote telling someone they need to get sober…

and the binder moment with michael kay…

that’s legit captain queeg stuff right there…

like a big sign from god reading: don’t give that guy too much power

    Yeesh..Godspeed Deke

Wow. I did not expect to ever see “Dikembe Mutumbo being treated for brain tumor”

    Yikes!

    Dolan is an Alpha Troll.

Tough news for Mutombo and Nate Robinson having a rough one too.

But Aaron appears to be back.

I kind of like the baseball playoffs, despite how impure it is. It’s a total crapshoot but it would be anyway, more or less, and it adds a ton of interest to the regular season.

damn I write a post and the Dubs respond by throwing 9 figures at Andrew Wiggins

    “The Honorable Cock Jowles says:

Well people here have compared RJ to him so now they’re making the same money.

Listen, any time you can go to Wanda Peralta for seven outs when Holmes is only available in an emergency, you got to do it.

Sorry for the Yankees fan. I watched all the bullpen stuff unfold and could not figure out what was happening
