Just Change Jets to Knicks…

Larry David roasting the Jets (and supposedly a little bit of the Knicks) on the last episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

WARNING NSFW Language!

JK: “You come into this house and bring up the Fucking Jets? Do you know how much disappointment I’ve had to live through with the Jets?”

LD: “You’ve lived with disappointment? Are you serious?”

JK: “Yeah Larry!”

LD: “You know what this team has done to me? I haven’t enjoyed a football season since 1969. Maybe ’98 with Parcels as coach for a year.”

JK: “Get out of here.”

LD: “That was good too. But that’s it.”

Well, here’s to hoping that new GM Joe Douglas is way more competent than the last couple of clowns. Mike Mac was a total fail as Jets GM. A wasted five years. I’m cautiously hopeful, though their owners are still clowns.

So, the Leon Rose era begins! Fingers crossed.

Zion is averaging 30.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, with a 63% TS and 31.2 usage at age 19.

Only other player in NBA in NBA history to hit 30/8/2.5 and TS >60 = age 24 and age 25 Giannis.
Kid is 19. It is insane.

It is sort of interesting that his peripheral stats have not translated yet. He averaged about 2.5 steals and 2.5 blocks per 36 in college and in the pros he is averaging a very Julius Randle-like 0.9 and 0.4. (in fact Randle is averaging exactly 0.9 steals and 0.4 blocks per 36)

Yeah, Zion seems to be going the designated scorer route. I didn’t see him being a ball hog but it’s hard to argue with the results so far. Turnover rate is high but there have been a bunch of sloppy ones.

His intensity on defense is definitely way below where it was in college.

As I mentioned last night, I think he is also getting a very generous whistle. He’s jumping into a ton of guys and getting calls no rookie has ever gotten before in the history of the NBA.

So Rose says he’s going to evaluate what’s going on with the current organization before making any changes. I didn’t expect that and am happy about it. But it’s only a baby step.

NYK owner James Dolan on new president Leon Rose: “We are confident he brings the right combination of expertise and relationships to ensure the long-term success of our franchise.”

although a confirmed life long bachelor, i never would have guessed the word “relationship” would ever trigger me quite this badly…

I’m currently more optimistic about the Jets than the Knicks

Anecdotally Zion has no idea what he’s supposed to be doing on defense at this point. I would imagine his steals/blocks will improve when he figures that out

Yeah, there was a sequence last night where Zion decided to leave Kuzma to double team the King . Lebron just dinked it over him back to Kuzma who nailed a wide open 3. That really made the point how unfinished a product he is on that end at the moment.

You don’t gotta be shacked up to recognize doom on the horizon.

I don’t think I’ve ever really understood before that Dolan is trying to nepotism his way into contention. I guess it makes sense, as that’s the only path to success that he knows.
