Once the Wizards woke up and decided to guard Dotson and Kornet behind the arc the game was lost. Mudiay was basically the entire offense in the second half. That second unit stretch in the third/fourth was some of the worst offensive basketball I’ve seen this season which was too bad because that unit looked great in the first.

I would like to see Mitch play with Mudiay a bit more and see if that can get him a little more involved in the offense.

Stratomatic "I'm tired of the Knicks paying lip service to DEFENSE. Get defenders & two-way players. Then play them!says:

Games like this are the ones that frighten me because people will start thinking Mudiay is good on offense (which he’s not) and that makes up for his defense (which is even worse).

It couldn’t be more obvious to me that we are better when we have our handful of defenders out there. Some of them are terrible offensive players, but against garbage teams that don’t defend well, they’ll manage to score. Ultimately, you need star scorers, but right now our best lineups are with various combinations of Vonleh, Frank, Dotson, Robinson, and Thomas. You’ll have to throw at least 1-2 decent scorers in those combinations (maybe Kornet or Trier), but the rest of our players defend poorly and are not good enough on offense either.

Last I checked the Knicks were up 10 with like 8 minutes left. Holy shit — this team is awful, and I love it!

Mudiay legitimately had a good game on offense today. This was the exception rather than the rule, but he was good today. Still sucks on defense and overall has not even been good on offense. But for today, he was good on the offensive side of things.

The only reason Frank should play is because he’s twenty and under team control- there is no line-up on earth he makes better. He’s been getting beat repeatedly off of the dribble all season and today was no exception. He’s defended 4’s better than he’s defended 1’s this year. And offensively if he’s not the worst guard in the league he’s in the top five.
Mudiay is a passable back-up at this point. Maybe he makes another jump and becomes an okay starter but it’s probably more likely he regresses back to joining Frank among the worst players in the league. I want no part of him at anything more than 3m and I definitely worry that he’s going to get an offer from the Knicks for more than that but there’s no question that he’s been much better than Frank this year.

he (mudiay) gets an A for scoring today but an f for point guarding and a d for stopping the other guys. he also had some key contested defensive rebounds in the 4th and he seemed like the only knick who was awake (vonleh too) in the second half

I believe I called Sir Thomas Bryant, Lord of Tank and ‘Tend, saving the day.

Couldn’t watch the second half. Disappointed Kornet cooled off but good loss all around.

Why did Mitch play only 9 minutes?

First game back. I think they wanted to ease him into things.

He did make several nice passes in the second half that guys failed to convert. As I said earlier, I think he’s played like an acceptable back-up this year so of course the Knicks are going to give him 3/36m.

We should sign vonleh, and kornet to 3 year deals … with Mitch , Knox and kp that’s a decent frontcourt. Dotson , frank and trier sharing wing duties add another piece in the draft and we have a talented young rotation.

With the exception of a post-ACL tear Porzingis, and a Robinson who’s been either injured or fouling every ten possessions, it’s literally the frontcourt of a 10-34 team, so… that is categorically not a decent frontcourt.

A bit late to the party, but…
Despite playing for 6 different franchises and more coaches than that, the great Cole Aldrich never amassed more than 976 minutes in a season or played more than 16 mpg (and that high water mark was with the Knicks!) and never had a positive OBPM (only once was it above -2.0). His 800 minutes (13mpg) and 77 playoff minutes (12mpg) with the Clips (where btw his net on/off was -5.1 per 100 possessions) deluded Minny into signing him to a 3yr/$22mill ($2 mill guarantee for the last year) a la Big Snacks reasoning. Cole the Great proceeded to play his way out of the rotation and then the league when Minny waived-stretched him, then Atlanta picked him up at the minimum and waived him, and now his value is being debated on Tianjinerblogger.

Ahh, but that WS48…that WP48…tha efficiency…he HAD to be good!

    Right.

(doh, am I gonna get banned now?)

Cole was pretty decent when he played, but his conditioning sucked so he couldn’t stay on the floor for long. If he played more than 20 minutes in a game he started to look like he was going to keel over and die.

He didn’t get major minutes because he literally could not play major minutes.

It’s 2019 and the devil is trying to tempt me into arguing with fools about Cole Aldrich-not today, satan!

@15 if I find out that u ever suggested offering Cole a penny above the vet’s minimum I’m burning all my DRed for GM gear
