Both Sixers, Knicks looking for turnarounds

The Philadelphia 76ers missed Joel Embiid’s impact in clogging the paint and experienced a night to forget against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, especially in the final seconds.

I would not want to be the team paying a 30-year-old Butler $110M over four or $190M over five to be a disgruntled asshole to my young stars. Is it normal to bring your agent to a road game?

I hope not getting interested in trading for him means Merry & Pills aren’t interested in signing him at all. That would suck so bad.

I’m going to call this a 40-point blowout. I know how rare those are, but I believe in these Nix.

We’re playing very hard but nothing is falling and the Sixers are shooting so well. I could see us getting back into this one.

Amazing that a guy with basically no shot whatsoever scores around .590 TS%…

If Kornet is the homeless man’s Porzingis, him and Frank developing some chemistry bodes well for Porzingis’ return.

There’s Frank slowing down another transition opportunity.

I’d love to see stats on how often individual players finish a fast-break with a FGA or assist opportunity.

Trier needs to learn that the soft finishing shit that worked in college is gonna get pasted up here.

If TJ McConnell only played against the Knicks, he’d be in the Hall of Fame. They make him look like Steve Nash.

Frank and Hezonja are at +2 for the game so far, and Kornet is somehow at +5. By contrast, Mudiay is -24.

Kornet just doesn’t try to make stupid/difficult passes. Makes him look better than he is. Mud is probably our most capable passer but he tries a bunch of really stupid stuff.

    pt I demand an apology

    Mr. Z-Man,

You are a sad person. I am just guessing but ill bet that your wife is ugly and your karaoke room has no strobes or futons. In fact ill bet that people dont even come to your parties and beg you to sing hotel california over and over in your karaoke room because that’s how u know people love you and you are a sad person without people loving you and your parties or even having a karaoke room probably. Alcoholic, maybe. I just celebrated the 21st anniversary of the first time i accused a new pen pal of maybe being an alcoholic which is the first thing they teach you to do in AA which you wouldn’t know because you’re such an alcoholic. maybe.

the in the meantime go hit netsblogger because Knickerblogger doesn’t want you.

    Respectfully!

The new and improved Mudiay is back to the original and shitty Mudiay, which is the real Mudiay.

    You are a sad person.
    Only when the Knicks suck…doh!
I am just guessing but ill bet that your wife is ugly
I dare you to say that to my Sicilian wife’s face…you’ll sleep with the fishes
and your karaoke room has no strobes or futons.
My karaoke room has a curtain and a drain

I have a karaoke membership at the YMCA and they love me there
    Alcoholic, maybe.
    Nah, man…I’m a long way from maybe…

I don’t belong to AA. I do belong to AAA and AARP.

    Who? Pardon me, I’m drinking…

Kornet vs Embiid, Hezonja vs Giannis, Kanter vs Lebron . . . We can’t help creating grudges, can we?

Clyde not happy with Embiid’s shenanigans . . . It’s nice to have commentators who don’t just circlejerk about how great/quirky Embiid is.

I was out mowing the lawn. Did I miss some bullshit from the professional troll on the blue team?

Embiid is pissed that Kornet isn’t paying rent, he’s trying typical slum lord tactics to get him to move out of his head.

I’ve been trying to figure out who Trier reminds me of, and I got it: Pharrell Williams.

I wonder if Trier also has enormous, ridiculously-expensive Family Guy paintings all over the great hall of his $10M mansion [vomits in mouth]

Wilson Chandler is the very definition of journeyman stopgap body — exactly the kind of player that a mid-playoff team grabs as a starter when they trade away depth for a “star” player (Carmelo, now Butler). That guy has had such an unremarkable career, but he’s still grinding.

I’m liking Kornet, didn’t think he moved well enough to be a legit backup but he clearly does.

Pretty ideal game. Kornet gives me Novak flashbacks so I automatically adore him.

God this team is infinitely more enjoyable without Hardaway and Kanter. Gotta move those two.

So close! Solid loss against a much superior team, good work from the kids. 44 minutes is too many from Knox. Nice to not see THj playing injured. I remain deeply confused about Embiid’s hard-on for Kornet.

Knox finishes with +11 in 44 minutes, and Kornet with +25 (!) and Ntilikina with +10. Not bad!

Kornet is a FAR better defender than Novak. Not exactly mobile, but definitely a factor in rim-protection and post defense.

Yikes, Vonleh -32 in 18 minutes. Frank had a good line except for the usual bad shooting. Led the team in assists with no turnovers.

    Wither Allonzo Trier?

Yeah, Kornet can get up there. He’s not quite the shooter Steve was, but he can dunk and protect the rim. Much younger too — wasn’t Novak, like, 30?

I’ve been waiting to Farfa to roll out the Luke Kornet New York Times Work Diary format and I think this might be the day

I feel like if we kept Willy we wouldn’t have drafted Rob. But all 3 would be nice to have.

28, pt: hilarious channeling of the infamous, disproportionate response by D’0h!-lan to an irate fan’s letter. And you did call us getting back into (not necessarily winning) the game, Z.
