    1. Given the depth of this year’s incoming rookie class, both drafted and undrafted, it’s imperative that the orange and blue hit it on all three picks. Folks focus largely on the 1st round picks, but really it’s when teams nail the under-the-radar picks and signings that they then become relevant.

    2. Zach Collins should be a Knick. He’s the Rudy Gobert/DeAndre Jordan type of guy we need. He also has 3 point range which is unfair.

If we can trade Melo and end up with a second lottery pick via a Minnesota/Cleveland/New York trade, I’d take Collins and DSJr. Smith Jr and Chasson Randle with KP, Willy Hernangomez, and Zach Collins would solidify our point guard and big man rotation for a decade. It leaves the wings a little pail but we can score my guy Peter Jok in the second round.

    3. I wanted to post this again as I posted it late yesterday. The magic have since made the person delete the tweet. But the internet doesn’t forget :)

The magic signed some new foreign free agent but they messed up and didn’t erase the white board behind them
      https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/63a2t1/the_magic_signed_patricio_garino_for_the/

it lists potential free agent targets, potential trade targets. Grouped into hybrid wings, and spread bigs.
      Aaron gordon for Saric?

    4. There’s a reason why those teams had a bunch of 2nd round picks and Zach Collins out there last night. Those guys aren’t good lol.

UK vs UCLA was a way better game.

    5. College basketball is really bad. Both those teams last night were terrible.

It makes picking brackets really difficult, since they’re all so shitty. In recent years, the #1 seeds have become good bets because as shitty as they all are, the #1 seeds are a good deal less shitty, but man, even there, the #1 seeds are stil pretty shitty.

    6. Why did Collins only play 18 minutes per this year. Numbers seem pretty solid.

I have to agree, college basketball stinks.

    7. Even the announcers couldn’t put a positive spin on that dreadful 2nd half.

But please don’t put it all on the refs, the amount of bricks thrown up by both teams was ridiculous, and the foul shooting was atrocious. And that man mountain Karnowski must have missed 7-8 layups.

      What a shit show.

    8. Pretty good draft analysis over at r/nyknicks.

Looking at some of the hyperlinked highlights, it confuses me that I’m impressed by plays like this, for looking so “NBA-ready”:

      https://gfycat.com/AdvancedGregariousKiskadee

Watching large chunks of last night’s brickfest reminded me just how bad most NCAA ball is. Even when teams manage to break down defenses with quick perimeter passing and exploiting the gaps, they can’t execute. Then you watch Fox run a PNR and actually get a shot off at the rim, and you see why he’s a lottery pick. Might be shite against NBA defenders, but sure looks like NBA ball.

Would the Nets beat the Tar Heels 10 out of 10 times by 20 points or more?

    9. Would the Nets beat the Tar Heels 10 out of 10 times by 20 points or more?

I could see a fluke loss if they played, like, twenty times, but yeah, ten times would most likely be Net routs each and every time. Lin and Lopez alone would destroy them.

    10. zach collins averages 6 fouls per 40 and the limit in ncaa is obviously 5… he would’ve played a lot more last nite if it weren’t for the fouls.. nc was having lots of difficulties with him…

    11. it’s crazy how much more the court is compressed and crowded with the college 3 point line rather than the farther NBA line.

    12. @ 13 – this question is asked almost every year and yes, the Nets would destroy the tarheels every single time. Even the worst NBA is comprised of players who were their best player or two on their college team and have been going up against pro competition every night for several years. They would feast at the college 3 point line alone. The college team would struggle with the shorter shot clock. UNC has what, maybe 4 players who will go pro? Every single Nets player went pro. Even if the starters kept it close, the second units would get destroyed.

    13. If we pick Tatum over Fox, Isaac, and Ntilikina (as Chad Ford is predicting ) I might have to see if there’s room on the Nets bandwagon

    14. there are worse than picking tatum… ppl forget he’s a full year younger than josh jackson… about as good and he doesn’t have the shooting concerns…

    15. When Melo leaves we’re going to need a new guy to pound the ball into the floor for 15 seconds, jab-step 12 times, drive to the hoop in heavy traffic, throw up a low-percentage layup attempt and then complain about the no-call while the other team drives down the floor and scores. So might as well go with Tatum.

    16. already been stated a bunch of times, but – wow, did the refs really kill that game last night…the games on saturday we’re great to watch, last night was painful…

at least kuz and lance made their big board…surprised though no o’quinn, no willy…

wow, i suddenly feel smarter…at six or seven, looks like we might have a real good chance at either frank or de’arron…

reference phil – ‘even the sun shines on a dog’s ass some days’…maybe the end product of this lost season will be a positive…maybe…

    17. @13, thanks for linking that. Definitely good analysis.

      I didn’t realize how big Frank is. Wow. He’s a tall 6’5″.

    18. I have a feeling with Elfrid Payton becoming a Westbrook-lite triple-double machine post-ASB, Orlando may rescue us from that choice and take Tatum off the board. (Seriously, Payton has been pretty awesome since the ASB, averaging (per 36) –> 15 points, 9 rebounds, 9.8 assists, with a TS of 55 and usage of ~20). I think it’s quite possible the draft will go Fultz, Ball, Jackson, Tatum in the 1st 4 picks, leaving many of the PGs on the board for us.

    19. Would the Nets beat the Tar Heels 10 out of 10 times by 20 points or more?

I could see a fluke loss if they played, like, twenty times, but yeah, ten times would most likely be Net routs each and every time. Lin and Lopez alone would destroy them.

The Nets would rout them every single time. It would never be close. Ron Baker is a pretty awful NBA basketball player, as much as I am rooting for him to help the Knicks, and he was a dominant force in NCAA basketball.

Almost any player on the Knicks would be a major star if you put them back in college, most would be superstars. Kyle O’Quinn would destroy the NCAA.

The gap in physical maturity is just too large.

    20. That Reddit link @ 13 was great. Better analysis than weeks of the NY papers or talk radio. They were calling in this morning to draft Kennedy Meeks. lol

    21. So now people are hot on Ntilikina again because of some Reddit analysis? Cool. Though there wasn’t anything in that assessment which hasn’t been discussed on this board 100 times before. Those of us who are lobbying for him understand that his height, frame, freakish length, lateral quickness, good shooting stats, unselfishness and advanced basketball IQ make for a potentially special player. The question is whether one thinks his lack of next level strength, quickness, and explosiveness combined with a mediocre handle will translate well to the NBA. I personally don’t see the negatives as outweighing the positives because:

A.) Frank’s handle and lack of explosiveness/speed won’t be a major impediment in the kind of motion offense we want to run.

B.) His frame suggests Frank will be able to pack of lots of weight and physically develop quite a bit by the time he reaches physical maturity.

C.) His good shooting, tall height and massive wingspan allow him to be a true combo guard who is tall enough to play the 2.

My only hope is that Knicks fans are patient with the guy.

    22. That Reddit link @ 13 was great. Better analysis than weeks of the NY papers or talk radio. They were calling in this morning to draft Kennedy Meeks. lol

If they were talking about the second round, I agree. If they were talking about the first…I’m not even surprised.

    23. My only hope is that Knicks fans are patient with the guy.

Shouldn’t you also hope we draft him?

    24. I would greatly prefer we pass on Ntilikina if Fox and/or Isaac are still on the board. I know European numbers can be screwy but his statistical profile looks like it has a lot of what would be identified as red flags at the NCAA level (low FTR, relatively low rebounds/blocks/steals). Even his shooting statistics are derived from a tiny sample size (21/50 on 3PT attempts, 18/29 on FT attempts).

Plus, if he’s going to be a “combo” guard long-term his size isn’t really much of an asset and (eye-test alert) he looks pretty slow. Fox and Isaac project well so I just don’t want to try and outsmart ourselves.

    25. @13, thanks for link to the interesting guard analysis. Loved the article and it made me excited for our future. Been switching to the Mets of late. I know it sounds crazy, but I haven’t really loved a point guard on the Knicks since Clyde. Old St. John’s alum, so I was happy with Jackson, but he just didn’t do it for me. I guess I would go with Fox, but the Glove comp in the article made me more interested in Frank Nt. Gary Payton redux; from my lips to the Hoop Gods’ ears. Still think I’m in the Fox camp.
