2026-27 Game Thread: Knicks @ Sixers – The NBA Cup Begins!

The Philadelphia 76ers have one of the best starting lineups in the NBA, but they also have basically zero depth, so any injuries to their starters really fuck them, and Jaylen Brown is out tonight, so that’s good for the Knicks as the NBA Cup begins.

Let’s go, Knicks!

Back to .500, and then on to 58 wins!

Mike Brown is hurt? Did he get hurt taking his glasses off and putting them back on?

Let’s drop a coin into The Cup (of a blind man at the gate.)

Don’t think that that won’t be a future Cup-related thread title. 😉

I figure for the main posts, I still go generic ledes.

Drummond continues to find himself surprised and lost in space when he gets the ball. He had NO idea where the basket was, or the defense. An easy step and slam, and instead he threw up some kind of shot putt.

Billy Mumy would like a word with Drummond, if he’s still alive (Mumy that is, not Drummond).

Still waiting for the Knicks to have a 1st quarter this season where they seem like they give a shit.

Oh no! Kolek makes a turnover!

Is that his first?

It was pretty bad, too…

He has two turnovers in this game.

I was hoping a rematch with Philly to avenge the opening night loss would bring out the championship Knicks but I guess not…

I must say that I like Maxey a lot, but I pretty much despise everyone else on the Sixers.

I don’t know why so many people seem to like Maxey so much. I mean that sincerely. I mean, he’s a good player, but there are lots of good players, so……. what else?

Mikal with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. Yawn.

Knecht on the active roster tonight; McCullar is not.

Doogie, I’m a huge fan of speed, and Maxey has afterburners. Plus he’s a really good athlete with amazing control in the air.

But really it’s his smile.

Don’t think he means that.

Yeah, he is definitely one of the fastest players in the NBA, that’s for sure.

just got home…was feeling oddly sad on the way home…boys staying home for halloween, dropped off doja doggie with ma and sis, daughter is out living life and having fun…home alone…

saw the score of the game…decided it may be best to check in a little later…wait for those dark cherry cordials to cool down in the fridge…

the quiet is nice…
