Some fun social media business, inspired by Kevin Knox’s appearance in last night’s game:

    @sethpartnow.bsky.social‬
Let me tell you how happy I was to see Knox go off the board before we drafted because I wasn’t looking forward to losing that argument.

    ‪@johnhollinger.bsky.social‬
LOL I think the Knox argument and the Lonnie Walker argument were two widespread phenomena in draft rooms that year.

With the caveat that we’re only talking a 6 game sample, here are the defensive ratings for us vs Boston as the season has gone on (per B-R):

    10/22/2024: 147.3
    2/8/2025: 139.7
    2/23/2025: 122.4
    4/8/2025: 119.5
    5/5/2025: 105.7
    5/7/2025: 93.9

I’m no statistician but it sort of feels like a trend? Like if you graphed it out it is almost a perfectly straight line trending down. At this rate we should hold the celts to 84 ORtg tomorrow lol.

I’m no nothing but a Billy Ray Valentine appearance at the end of TNTs broadcast last night slipped into my peripheral astigmatism.

I’m no statistician but it sort of feels like a trend? Like if you graphed it out it is almost a perfectly straight line trending down. At this rate we should hold the celts to 84 ORtg tomorrow lol.

90-47 Game 4 win completing the sweep confirmed.

seeing that brawl is defintly in no way lifeaffirming not sure how much of it was our fault but i like to think that we are better than that

People willing to get violent over games played by other people they don’t know really need to find some true fulfillment in life.

Why fight about it when you can fuck about it. It’s all just a bunch of dickery anyway.

seeing that brawl is defintly in no way lifeaffirming not sure how much of it was our fault but i like to think that we are better than that

Maybe I’m wrong but I’m betting you the Celtics fans started it.

I’ve been to one Celtics game way back in 2010. My buddy and I drove up there from NYC to see the Melo Nuggets play the KG/Pierce/Allen era Celtics. I think this was the season before Melo became a Knick and the year after Boston won their title.

Anyways, we weren’t rooting for either team. So we did not have Celtics gear one but didn’t have nuggets gear on either. I never felt so much hostility towards me in my life. It’s like they knew we weren’t celtics fans. They were so obnoxious, entitle and borderline psychotic. The Celtics won so the fans were happy but we couldn’t get out of their soon enough.

Conversely, I went to a TON of Knicks games in from 2009 to 2012. Probably 60 or so games during that time. I did see some drunken douchery at times but for the most part I feel like Knicks fans are actually pretty nice. I remember multiple times when fans for other teams would sit in my section and, while there might have been some friendly trash talking, people were generally pretty nice to the other team fans. Even Miami fans! If the other team was playing well or made a really cool play, fans would event compliment the opposing team to the fans in our section.

And the only times it ever got heated was when the opposing team fans were being douchey.

our guy is ring shopping already

I would go at Tatum harder. Send more doubles. He’s going to try and change the narrative by scoring. That’s always the first mentality. Make it harder for him to put it in the hoop and make him get others involved. See if he tries to force it.

yep force tatum into being the celtic hero he is bad at it almost as much if not more than brunson is good at it tatum is the anti-brunson

boston may have a little bit more overall talent then us across the board but we double up what they have in heart

You don’t need to double Tatum and create the open 3s that Boston hunts. OG is already doing a great job on him. Let him shoot contested shots.

We have a pretty terrible ORtg (102) in this series, too. KAT has attempted two 3PAs in the whole series, and our bread-and-butter crunch time play is getting swallowed up with ease to the tune of 0.25 ppp.

It’s great to up 2-0 but we should thank god for that and adjust as if we’re down 0-2, which we would be if not for some combination of great defense and inexplicable Celtic stupidity. That stupidity may well continue but if it suddenly stops and we keep running the same offense this will quickly become the slaughter everyone expected.

Everything that was maddening about this team in the Detroit series (like the inexplicable abandonment of the Brunson-KAT pnr) has actually gotten worse in this series. KAT has attempted just two 3PAs in two games. How is that possible?

We currently have the 4th worst offense in the playoffs, ahead of only Miami & Memphis (two teams that got rolled and quit) and Orlando (a team that can’t shoot to save its life).

Our ORtg of 108.8 is actually worse than our ORtg in the 2023 playoffs when Josh Hart had the yips and RJ Barrett was clanking away.

This 2-0 lead is a minor miracle. Major improvement is necessary. It’s hard to believe the Celtics aren’t punishing us for this. Game 3 feels like a game 7 to me. I hope we don’t come out with the same offense, bc it’s been dreadful.

This 2-0 lead is a minor miracle

“The Knicks are 10-1 long shots to win the NBA title, but they’re accustomed to overcoming long odds. Their live odds peaked at 25-1 in both Game 1 and Game 2, and their win probabilities bottomed out at less than 2%, according to ESPN Analytics. Yet they rallied and became the first team to overcome 20-point deficits to win consecutive playoff games this century.”

Yet they rallied and became the first team to overcome 20-point deficits to win consecutive playoff games this century.

I wonder what teams did it last century. And how far they went in those playoffs.

Hubs, you’re not wrong but the flip side is if we can clean up the offense and fix some of these issues, we might be able to sweep these green fuckers. I would be very curious to see how the Celtics respond tomorrow if we come out of the gate in the first half and take a big lead.

agree that we are very lucky to be up 2-0 instead of down 0-2 and i am sure that the players are very aware of this this is where thibs tendencies to never be satisfied can be a good thing he will push appropriately and jalen is likely to unlease one of his famous playoff 40 burgers in one of the 2 games at home

our guy is ring shopping already

Not quite, but I did shell out for game 3 for both of us. I did it before the series so my ROI is actually great, but fuck that, we’re going to the game.

In 3 months she’s gone from having never watched an NBA game to having takes about Cam Payne, so we are doing very well.

Yeah, for all his flaws, there is zero chance that Thibs is looking at those first two games and saying, “Yeah, what we’re doing is working perfectly. No need to change anything up.”

The question is whether he can actually find ways to fix the offense. But I guarantee you that he knows that what we’ve done for six out of eight quarters ain’t it.

you’re not wrong but the flip side is if we can clean up the offense and fix some of these issues, we might be able to sweep these green fuckers

That’s not the flip side. That was my point! Let’s clean this shit up now and put them away instead of running the same dreadful crap we’ve been running.

The problem is we’re 8 games into the playoffs and it’s getting worse with every game. Eventually this is just what it is.

The secondary market for Knicks tickets is insane right now. I had mine listed for Saturday’s game (can’t go unfortunately) at what I thought was the right price (about 3x face value) and they sold within minutes of the end of game 2.

A few minutes later asking prices in my section on Stubhub soared to around 5-6x face value. Crazy.

we have a tendency to play down to our competition we have been doing it all season long boston playing really badly so we are responding in kind not consciously but just because it is what we do

Knicks offense will be alot better in the Conference Finals vs Indiana.

As great as it is to be up 2-0, the rational expectation is that we will lose the series.

Without absolute god-tier luck or self-inflicted Boston collapse, they are easily good enough to beat us 4 games in a row, let alone 4 of 5. They won’t keep shooting 25% from 3, and if they had shot 27% we’d have lost both games.

Our offense has failed in a far more structural and sustainable way than theirs, as Hubie has pointed out. We’re hitting our threes at expectation, but failing to generate good shots. Meanwhile, they’re generating wide open threes for great shooters at will. Those will start falling and when they do, we get blown out.

To win another game we need:
    -KP out or ineffective
    -Hauser also out
-Their shooters to brick wide open shots in large numbers
-Mazulla to continue coaching like a novice NBA 2k player
-Tatum’s head to be all the way up his ass

Us being up 2-0 really only makes sense in the context of setting up a more crushing disappointment when we lose the series, so that is how I’m understanding that very strange sequence of events.

I hope I’m wrong and we win game 3. If we do, I would say we are more likely than not to win the series. If we don’t, I think we’re toast.

You don’t need to double Tatum and create the open 3s that Boston hunts. OG is already doing a great job on him. Let him shoot contested shots.

Indeed, don’t let Tatum the opportunity to distribute the ball. Let him go into single coverage against OG. The same with Brown, let Bridges defend him in single coverage. We should not give Holiday, White, or Porzingis the opportunity to relieve the pressure from Tatum/Brown. They have to feel the need to be the ISO hero of the team. They will get some, but also force quite a lot of dumb shit.

there is zero chance that Thibs is looking at those first two games and saying, “Yeah, what we’re doing is working perfectly. No need to change anything up.”

How can you say that when we just had 6 miserable offensive games against Detroit and we seem to have said “Yeah, what we’re doing is working perfectly. No need to change anything up”?

Knicks offense will be alot better in the Conference Finals vs Indiana.

Yeah, I think people need to give Boston (and Detroit) a LITTLE bit of credit here. I mean, Boston had the 4th best defensive rating in the league this year. They’re PRETTY good at defense.

KAT has attempted two 3PAs in the whole series

It’s worse than it looks, one of KATs 3s was an end of quarter heave. It shouldn’t even count as an attempted 3. He’s at 1.

the rational expectation is that we will lose the series.

The series odds are basically a coin toss.

The question is whether he can actually find ways to fix the offense.

I found one already: pass the fucking ball.

Thibs has updated his offense, Mikal has started creating a lot more. On a related note, Mikal has a .355 TS% this round.

Yeah, I think people need to give Boston (and Detroit) a LITTLE bit of credit here. I mean, Boston had the 4th best defensive rating in the league this year. They’re PRETTY good at defense.

    I repeat:

Our offense currently sports a worse ORtg than the ‘23 team that got swallowed up by the Heat.

I give Boston and Detroit a lot of credit, but there is only way to get that result with this personnel. I’m not even pointing the finger at Thibs, I’m actually pointing it at Jalen. Thibs and his dad are just enablers. (I mean seriously the guy’s fucking dad is on the team and we run a playoff offense that looks exactly like what you would expect of a high school team whose coach is the best player’s dad.)

God damnit Dolan your team has the chance to go to the Eastern Conference Finals and of course you jack up the MSG ticket prices. I get it from a business standpoint but I’d rather have true, gritty Knicks fans than influencers or people that will be checking their phones most of the time. At least give everything above courtside and the 100s more of a discount…

I like where the defense is now but the offense needs more variety. Why are we continuing the Hart and Brunson pick and roll when KAT is on the floor? Can Bridges please shoot better in quarters 1-3. Brunson more of a willing passer.

People saying Celtics 3s will eventually go down but I think our shots can go down too. We just need two more games but man so much still has to go our way…

    Anticipation killing me

Knicks haven’t looked good at Home in these playoffs outside of the Payne explosion in the 4th qtr of game 1, so it will be interesting to see how they look tomorrow.

This was a big issue in game 5 vs Detroit. Real Knick fans not in the building. Very corporate and terrible crowd energy.

It takes more than real fans in the building to win in the playoffs, as the brawl video illustrates.

This was a big issue in game 5 vs Detroit. Real Knick fans not in the building. Very corporate and terrible crowd energy.

You think that’s bad, if we actually make it all the way to the Finals MSG jacks up tickets to 6 times regular season prices. So a nosebleed seat that might go for $100 during the regular season would now be $600.

Pretty much excludes a large portion of the fan base, sadly.

It really is incredible that Dolan cares so little about optics he won’t even make the kind of token gestures other owners make all the time and e.g. set aside 1,000 tickets for first responders or something.

If he truly just wants to money grub and gets no enjoyment at all from servicing fans, he might as well sell the damn team and put the proceeds in an index fund! Is there any part of the job he still likes at this point?

That stupidity may well continue but if it suddenly stops and we keep running the same offense this will quickly become the slaughter everyone expected.

I’m not sure everyone expected a slaughter with the Celtic personnel with Brown with a real knee issue, KP not healthy enough to spend more than 15 minutes a night on the floor and Holiday coming off a down season and a hammy strain in series one.

The extra day off is going to help the Celtics tomorrow.

I’m pretty sure he is in the business of increasing the bottom line of his company. I don’t think there is a servicing the fans line on his spreadsheet.

I’m pretty sure he is in the business of increasing the bottom line of his company. I don’t think there is a servicing the fans line on his spreadsheet.

Wow, how profound. Never thought of it this way before.

Guess Steve Ballmer (net worth $127 billion) is a real dumbass.

The extra day off is going to help the Celtics tomorrow.

They had almost a week off before game 1 and how did that work out? 🙂

Dolan has a hate relationship with the fans. He hates us because we hate him.

The extra day off does not help the Celtics quiet the demons though. Their legacy is on the line and being on the other side of a force majeur(sp?) twice in a row is not the kind of thing that inspires restful rest. Maybe Jobu did come through.

just went around the house closing windows…it’s gonna be like 100 degrees outside for the next couple of days…kind of out of nowhere, we were just in the 60’s…will go back to the 60’s in a few days…how odd, and hot…

for the record, I loved talking about the weather long before I ever got old…

for the record, I loved talking about the weather long before I ever got old…

Geo in offseason mode already. I have taught him well.

not sure what it is exactly that makes this place just so darn irresistible, but I’m hooked too…so that is that…

ah, so tell me knicks 2025, see any interesting performances lately, like a cool rock show?

I think it was in the rock genre that someone had mentioned earlier in the year…it stuck out to me at the time ’cause it sounded interesting…

took a wise suggestion and started doing more research online specific to the venues and performers that I’d be interested in…

found some stuff overseas, but nothing really local on the horizon…keep telling myself I need to sign up for the local casino show “notifications”…top shelf performers sell out pretty quick usually…

what is fun for that casino venue is finding some old rock band doing a show with a general admission area, real cheap tickets, fun crowd, cool tunes…

if you were to ask me, I’d say irrational persistence is a super power of sorts 😊

honestly donnie, it kind of coincided with years of therapy, and previous decades of falling to pieces…

had to figure out how to emotionally detach myself from what’s going on around me…control your breathe/body, reset your mind – and you can feel however the heck you want…

definitely helped me while spending some time sitting in the dentist chair recently…

I’ll be honest though donnie, I usually only watch the first half live, after that I flip between the game and something else…

lately I’ve been checking the score on my phone, then watching the second half…

    it’s a journey for sure…

yes, finding out that you did not feel so confined/beholden to some distant entity was quite revealing sir…thank you donnie 😊

KB meetup in OKC for the finals to save a couple hundred bucks?

KB meetup in OKC for the finals to save a couple hundred bucks?

    im there

    ha, that’s right EB…

my sense is game three is gonna pretty much be a coin flip again…

good possibility neither team reaches 100, especially if deuce and mitch play more…the offensive execution for both teams could get worse as the series goes on…

I’d be surprised if during any game in the series either team lets go of the rope enough to lose by double digits…

seems ridiculous to say it but if we are at least within 10 halfwy thru the fourth we have a decnet chance of coming out with a win let us put these guys away tonight with some sort of knicks hammer i want the jb 40 pt game tomorrow

Why can’t we have the offense from the 1st half against OKC (the first game) again? Please? That was the platonic ideal of the Knicks offense, and they basically never tried it again.

I expect mikal, OG, and josh to all get around 45 minutes on the court…hopefully though jalen and KAT finish around mid 30’s and are fresh for the end of the game…

let deuce sub for jalen, landry come in for mikal and josh’s time on the bench…get mitch in to the game earlier at the beginning of each half, much…

Assuming that the odds bear out and the Knicks don’t go on to win a championship, I suppose we’ll be graced by the tediously predictable “…got his pants pulled down” schtick any day now.

Guess Steve Ballmer (net worth $127 billion) is a real dumbass.

The Clips are a toy for Ballmer…. the Knicks are a business for Dolan.

KB meetup in OKC for the finals to save a couple hundred bucks?

Just like when the Mets went to the World Series and it was cheaper to fly to KC and see a game there.

I suppose we’ll be graced by the tediously predictable “…got his pants pulled down” schtick any day now.

You will if it happens again.

Unfortunately the most tediously predictable part of the postseason the last 4 years has been your hero getting pantsed.

But so far the trousers are up. He hasn’t coached well but neither Bickerstaff nor Mazzulla has outwitted him.

1998 is an absolutely inconceivably stupid date to be a cutoff for known era shit. Like did ignorance inertia prevent us from collecting the data from previous years to like add it to the records. 1998. I had been using Texas Instruments for like a decade before that shit. The ones with funny weird shit on them. How the fuck?

Hmmm, let me me spout out some strategy that Thibs will never employ so that I can proclaim how much smarter I am than him when the team loses to a better team. How’s this? Thibs should start Hukporti over KAT, Kolek over Brunson, and McCullar over OG. Then he should run a full-court press for 48 minutes and tell the players to only shoot 3’s and dunks. If he doesn’t do this and the team loses, Thibs obviously got his pants pulled down. Wow! That was easy!

“Guess Steve Ballmer (net worth $127 billion) is a real dumbass.”

Seething in the non-profit world, so when I see things like this I think if he kept $7 billion (which, you know, is enough) and put the rest in a fund that generates 4% interest, he could give away $5 billion a year. Which is a great fuckton of million dollar grants every year.

    Sigh.

I’m not a fan of James Dolan, but he and his family own less than 4% of MSGS stock. Institutional investors led by Blackrock and Vanguard own more than 90% of the company. Yes, Dolan is CEO, but the idea that he can do whatever he wants is wildly inaccurate. He has investors to answer to.

If Blackrock kept $1.5 trillion of their $11.5 trillion and put the rest…

    …oh, never mind…

so that I can proclaim how much smarter I am than him when the team loses to a better team.

That’s your schtick. I don’t have your little dick energy. The accusations of a narcissist like you are confessions.

I complain about Thibs bc I’m an emotional fan and it pisses me off when he is a big reason we lose.

And for the record, when Thibs got his pants pulled down by Nate McMillan, his team had the better record and was favored. When he got his pants pulled down by Erik Spoelstra, his team had the better record and was favored. And again when Carlisle pantsed him last year, he had the better record, and were favored.

We’ve never lost a playoff series under Thibs to a team favored to beat us. We lost three consecutive playoff series with homecourt advantage to teams we were favored to beat.

Our offense was dominating the league for 4 months and now we look like the Orlando fucking Magic. You can keep banging your little KAT drum but we have completely abandoned our principles and that’s not on the guy who plays Center.

“I don’t have your little dick energy.”

I agree. Your energy screams “big angry dick.”

I’ll tell you what pisses me off. I went to 9 Maple last night and there was no jazz. Fucking Thibs!

Our offense was dominating the league for 4 months and now we look like the Orlando fucking Magic. You can keep banging your little KAT drum but we have completely abandoned our principles and that’s not on the guy who plays Center.

Thankfully our defense does seem to have gotten a lot better but this is the absolute unvarnished truth.

Thibs’ playoff record for us has been objectively disappointing. Sticking the landing on this series IMO would balance the scales and then some, but that’s still an unlikely outcome.

It’s unlikely because our offense has punched far, far below the weight of our personnel for months. The defense admittedly is much improved, but that is a fact.

Z-Man when I come up there in August we should go to 9 Maple if you’re still in Saratoga.

Feels like the Cavs starting all of their injured guys is like OG playing Game 7 last year.

Raven, your posts remind of a news story I read. The headline was something like Bill Gates is shutting down his charitable foundation. I thought WTF and then read the article. It turns out “shutting down” means spending his money on charity somewhat faster so that the money will runout in twenty-five years rather than maybe go on forever. Gates decided the future after twenty-five years could be very different and this way he feels more confident the charity will address current needs.

Feels like the Cavs starting all of their injured guys is like OG playing Game 7 last year.

    Or maybe not.

The pace of this games is insane after watching Knicks-Pistons and Knicks-Celtics.

And again when Carlisle pantsed him last year, he had the better record, and were favored.

I feel like there might have been other factors involved. Could be wrong.

Pacers are peaking to soon, you don’t want to erase a 13-0 deficit too early

Pacers are peaking to soon, you don’t want to erase a 13-0 deficit too early

Lol. They had a 10-0 run in like 90 seconds. Both teams play so fast.

On this Pacers court, it looks like spilled yellow paint under the hoop.

Mobley is a big game changer, Jalen Green going ahead of him was a miss.

I am refraining from any number of inappropriate quips…

Donnie Pacers Fan is rooting for the Cavs cause he likes long series.

Donnie Celtics Fan is not a thing and never will be a thing so go ahead and take care of business at home.

Favorite quote today, from an Athletic article, saying something I never would have dared say:

“The Knicks, meanwhile, will take solace in knowing they have a chance to end the Celtics’ season with victories in Games 3 and 4 at Madison Square Garden.”

“Z-Man when I come up there in August we should go to 9 Maple if you’re still in Saratoga.”

Hi bidiong, I was just picking my kid up from college but will up there for a night or two every 2-3 weeks when he returns. I go to 9 Maple pretty much without fail. Are you going up for the races?

Normally I wouldn’t watch an 18 pt game with 4 mins left, but the 2nd round has made a believer out of me

this might not be true but I feel like Haliburton has more no show games than most players as good as he is. Your team is up 2 against heavily favored opponent and you score 4 points in your first game at home?

Knicks should take this Cavs-Pacers game as a warning sign. Celtics are gonna be laser focused tomorrow and won’t give a shit about the crowd.

Rebounds 75-46 and shot attempts 100-80 for Cleveland. I suspect these are not good stats for Indy. 😊

Good thing Cleveland won. Whoever comes out of this series must be as tired and beaten up as possible. Just in case. Y’all know what I mean. 😊

I’m less concerned about his hoops rooting interests and more interested about this https://www.yahoo.com/news/abuse-allegations-casting-shadow-over-090834083.html

isn’t that the job description. I remember once touring a property on a hill in Los Feliz. Pointed out a very cool looking luxurious Romanesque villa on the property and asked to see it and was told we couldn’t it was occupied by wayward priests. I was like what way. And then I was like oh. Katy Perry bought that house after shacking up with the Vatican to contest the 7 last nuns of an original fifty who had gone in on the property five or six decades earlier. They had willed it to the church and the church had said we are beyond temporal and you can’t sell it to anyone else when they tried to. It was adjudicated in the Vatican…..buuuuuuuuuuuuut… as one of the nuns was hemorrhaging and meeting her maker in court the last thing she said was “STOP KATY PERRY”. Then she died. Those fucking pacers and Cavs are wimps.

    STOP KATY PERRY

Don’t even understand the story but totally down with that.

Losing a game to Denver when Jokic scores 20 in 25 shots is not ideal.
