That’s RE5 in Kijuju
Happy New Year!!!
Z-Man: Enjoy the WC Knicks! We expect a full report.
Happy New Year, everybody!!
took me a little bit to figure out what the heck RE4 was…
normally I don’t go for the horror or war genre of video gaming (more sci fi and fantasy stuff)…
love it though seeing KB turn in to gamesblogger for a bit…keep it coming 😊
best wishes to all for the new day and year…
go knicks!!!
Edit: also liked hearing what shows folks were tuned in to recently…just caught up on Silo…very enjoyable…
tried to watch Severance, but reminds me too much about work…
A year ago today we debuted the new look Knicks with Donte, OG, and Hartenstein joining Brundle in the starting 5 for the first time against the Minnesota Timberwolves (who I believe may have had the best record in the NBA at the time). It kicked off what probably has to be one of the 5 best calendar years in Knicks history (definitely the best since OJ was in the Bronco).
I kinda wish we were playing the Thunder today instead of Friday. I saw some folks yesterday trying to preemptively cut off the negativity after an expected loss but I think we’ll likely have to do the opposite. The Thunder without Chet have performed quite well but he is exactly what separates them from us. Without him they looked very ordinary against Milwaukee in that cup final and I think we’ll feel the same way when we play them.
We’ve all seen Hartenstein try to defend stretch 5s. Towns should dominate him (and boy will that be nice to watch, especially at the Garden). And with Jalen Williams at the 4 they really have nothing to make us pay for going small. I expect a signature win against the Thunder like the one we got against Minnesota 365 days ago. But first we have to get revenge against the Jazz.
Also just a random shout about the East, which I think got unfairly beat up early in the year.
The top 3 is awesome, and I think when Orlando is healthy it’s a top 4.
Milwaukee and Atlanta are really good for 5 & 6 seeds.
And Philly might end up being the best 7th seed since last year’s Philly team.
A healthy OKC fits in with the East’s top 4. And I love the Rockets & Grizzlies. But I don’t see anyone else out there who I think is demonstrably better than the Bucks and Hawks. I actually think the East is going to be a much tougher sled to pull come spring.
Good news for Z-man’s scouting report, it’ll include Kolek, Dadiet and Hukporti.
Happy New Year to All!!
Thanks hubert, I was pretty confident that would happen, which is the only reason why I picked a game on NYD. DS, will do!
No spoilers on Silo, please. I still have the 2nd season to watch. 😉
If you want to know a little more about the war in Northern Ireland from the 70s to the 90s, i liked very much Say Nothing.
Can we pluck ‘soze’s favorite player Neemias Queta from the Celts? Can we get Bobby Portis back? Please?
One benefit I reaped suffering through Killing Eve is that I get a free pass on The Perfect Couple.
Knicks up to 3rd in ESPN’s power ranking (the Celts fell to 6th!):
How about Zach Collins? He’d more than fit the bill.
The theoretical version of Zach Collins is much better than the actual version. He makes a lot of money, is always hurt, and has a career TS% of .564 and BPM of -1.6. Hard pass.
Queta would be a fine flyer but the Celts seem to like him and would be unlikely to do anything to help a rival without getting overpaid for doing so. Unless they waive him, I don’t think it’s worth a couple of seconds or whatever it would cost to get him. But if it happens, good for cyber!!
Portis is not happening, the Bucks need him more than we do.
Still looking for a good target, Z-man with one hyphen. Happy New Year!
Same, Doogie! I’ve been looking as well. And the more I look, the more I think we are just going to roll with Mitch’s ankle. Especially when I see what Cleveland has been doing and remember how he single-handedly destroyed them in 2023 playoffs.
Oh, no! Now Mitch is destined to roll his ankle once he returns. 🙂 Who am I kidding. He was always destined to do that. Seriously, a healthy Mitch could put us over the top.
Happy New Year!
My first hot take of 2025: ease of schedule is overrated. Its effects exist, but it’s not like a great team against poor competition becomes a terrible team against stronger competition. I think the Knicks will be fine as long as their health luck holds.
Ok how do we have the toughest remaining schedule in the East when the Cavs’ schedule has been easier than ours so far? Feels like they’ve had a perpetual cakewalk extending into last season..
Agree ease of schedule is very overrated, mostly because it misses crucial variables, but it obviously exists (eg, Knicks December opponents v January opponents). And Pags, one of the features (or problems) is that it is not zero sum–if the Knicks and Boston play the same team on day x and day y, that team will likely have a different weighting on day x and y depending upon their record and recent results on each day.
I don’t think the Celtics would promote Queta from a 2-way contract to a standard contract to then waive him, so probably he won’t be available this season. In the offseason, as his 3 year contract is non guaranteed, they might do it if they need the roster spot.
Agreed
They don’t have to play the 29-4 Cavs 3 times
Nor the Knicks in the 79th game when we are going for win number 60.
Sorry, delete nor and replace with but!
“Nor” makes sense, but “but” doesn’t.
From CDiggy yesterday:
I do the same. Most times it’s to inform my decision on a purchase, unless it’s a franchise that I usually play. That’s how I ended up getting Hogwarts Legacy- thought I still haven’t played that either. Cyberpunk just has SO much to do that I haven’t been able to move through these games. Well..that and adulting. I didn’t get to clear it yesterday because we went to get my stepson a new phone. But I will today before my games start, so maybe I’ll have time to boot Resident Evil 4(there you go Doogie lol) today. Speaking of my games..
I’m a little torn today. Knicks fan through and through. But I’m also a Notre Dame football fan- albeit they usually are down the line in my Fandom. But tonight they play Georgia. And I really wanna see how they handle it as much as I wanna see how our Knicks handle a possible New Year’s hangover. So maybe the we dominate the 1st half against the Jazz? That way I can switch to the ND game lol. Every season that ND does well in, they usually run into Clemson or any good SEC team and get washed. They actually might have a chance tonight with Beck not playing. MIGHT. Lol
Anora is ok, fun with a bit of cringe, but not great. It did feel right to watch it on new year’s eve, after a year that felt as if the world is waking up from a long fantasy of partying non-stop into a who-knows-how-long midnight.
Poindexter, you’re safe. They postponed the Georgia-Notre Dame game, so I hear. (Was going to have to watch the Knicks silently on my phone while pretending to care about a) football, b) college football, at my inlaws this evening…)
We are getting closer to the Kolek era. 😉
Sheesh. 1st day of ’25 and people just couldn’t wait to start the bullshit huh? Godspeed to the victims in NO and their families
well now, since we’re all sharing gaming stories 🙂
been playing GTA online now for a couple of weeks, and oh do I have that noobie “free meat” feeling about me…
my current, very ineffective strategy at the moment is to hope the same folks will grow tired of killing me over and over again…
yep, that’s not working out so well for me…pretty big gear and experience gap for new players…
that’s true for most games though…the online Rockstar titles I’ve played (red dead redemption and now gta online) just seems to inspire folks a bit differently from the Bestheda titles I’ve tried (elder scrolls and fallout)…
lots and lots of “griefing” going on…
fortunately though, the noobie stuff usually only lasts a month or so 🤑
and I am in it to win it, or at least not die so much all the time…
Maybe it’s time to see a little of this guy too.
So just got back from a scintillating OT win for the W-Knicks vvs. the ferocious Mad Ants of Ft. Wayne, IN. Here are some observations:
The biggest surprise was seeing megabust Jahlil Okafor on the Mad Ants. He looked to be in terrific shape, but I didn’t see anything beyond his physical profile that suggested that he could help an NBA team do anything but tank. He likes to bang and sets rock-solid screens, but the motor hasn’t changed since whatever you remember of him. Still it was nice to see a legit NBA replacement-level C as a test for Huk.
Kolek was “superb” at that level, but lots of stuff he does will simply not work at the NBA-level. He goes right every single time he drives, and some of his floater moves are not going to get over NBA-level wings and shot blockers. But the guy is a gamer, he basically carried the team to victory on his back. Very nice outing.
Dadiet was a hot mess. None of his “good” shots went in and he took a few that were terrible. A very forgettable game, except for the really bad stuff.
Hukporti looked mostly raw, a couple of decent plays here and there but mostly not like an NBA player. Good motor, some versatility on O, just very poor feel for the game.
Okeke looked like the most NBA-ready player. The 3-ball looked pretty good, had excellent defensive fundamentals, definitely could be a useful end-of-bench wing.
Toppin scored a lot of points, but he looks like a dyed-inb-the-wool G-League player skill-wise. However, his athleticism and motor really stood out, and he did make some nice moves, including some great connections with Kolek. But he has a long way to go to turn himself into a rotation player.
Everyone else pretty much sucked. Moses Brown was a terrible combo of soft, slow, and dumb. What a waste of a good physical profile.
The Westchester County Center is a great place to bring little kids, there were many in attendance and you would have thought it was game 7 of a playoff series, so it was fun to see them get excited about the game. I paid $17 each for the seats and they were in the front row of the balcony…excellent view. Most of the players were pretty decent, they hustled their asses off and gave a great show.
Other notes:
-the OT was decided by a 7-point Elam ending, with Kolek winning the game on a FT. The Indiana coach called two coach’s challenges in OT. I didn’t like that format, the suddenness of the ending seems more anticlimactic than the FTs and TOs of a timed OT.
-The G-League awards only one FT on a shooting foul that counts for 2 points if made. Then in the last two minutes (I think) they make players make both. I liked that, it sped up the game considerably.
IIRC you can switch to a solo server, I got tired very quickly of getting stomped by the people on jetbikes. GTA online was surprisingly fun but my first character got banned for some reason – I got an alert saying I’d cheated somehow and that the character was irrecoverable, which soured me on it all.
Kolek numbers look good and I am excited about him but I couldn’t shake the feeling watching the clips that he looks like he is in high school….
I’ve purposely stayed away from GTA Online. I’m a console guy and there’s wayyyyy too many modders and GTA Online vets for me to have the patience to try my hand
ha kaminari I have most certainly felt like just logging off several times, just because the game gets a little glitchy…
trying to battle someone in a vertibird with a low teens toon is pretty challenging…
my biggest gripe at the moment as how awful my honing missile is at actually honing on on targets…
that and the fact some folks vehicles are armored up so well the one semi-strong weapon can’t really help me…
So now it depends on what “some time this month” means, I guess. At the very least, it’s not bad news!
“well now, since we’re all sharing gaming stories”
The hell we all are. I haven’t “gamed” in…….well, let me think for a second…….ever.
…
“…” right back at you, clarence.
