Marcus King playing Summer Stage tonite. If you cannot get tix, picnicing outside Rumsey is a nice option

crap I just committed to inferior plans
I found the sharing of stories yesterday to be quite comforting, thanks to all who shared.
I am thinking that it is increasingly likely that, like last year, our roster will be in wait-and-see mode until February, specifically the backup C issue.
I am guessing that some sort of non-guaranteed contract will temporarily fill the spot going into the regular season. There will be some Exhibit 10 guys and/or a non-guaranteed signee who will get an opportunity to win the spot. But Leon will keep working the phones in search of a better option, unless and until someone significantly outperforms expectations.
My mental model for this is the Landry Shamet situation last year. Last year at this time, Leon had just signed Shamet, Brogdon, and Matthews to non-guaranteed deals to battle for that final roster spot. The voids in the roster were a bit different. There was no consensus on whether the backup PG spot was properly filled with Deuce and Kolek, and Brogdan was viewed as a reasonable alternative to those guys. There was a sense of hope about Yabu that turned out to be delusional. There was some discussion about whether Huk or Precious was better suited to be the third big, with some folks being intrigued about James Nnaji as an alternative. There was some tentative Shamet support. Beyond that, there was still leftover uncertainty about whether Mitch or Hart should start, and even a bit about Deuce vs. Mikal, and how Mike Brown, who most were lukewarm about, would address those issues. And, of course, the concern about the KAT-Brunson pairing being an insurmountable defensive issue.
And here we are, a year removed from all of that uncertainty, with a championship banner soon to be raised. All of that pre-season anxiety and uncertainty was worked out along the way, mostly in dribs and drabs, and then at the deadline, and with things finally congealing in Game 4 vs. Atlanta. So the lesson for me is: be patient, things are going to be sorted out in due time and barring bad injury luck, this team will be rock solid going into the playoffs, including the C rotation. It’s just so damn hard to not have any roster news at all for so long, especially when other teams are making moves left and right.
Z-man, I feel confident about two things regarding the big man situation:
1. We’ll come out of preseason with a third center on the roster, whether it’s one of the training camp invites, or someone the FO acquires as other teams have to pare their rosters down to 14 or 15 guys.
2. If Drummond and/or the third guy aren’t working out by the deadline, Leon will make a move for a better backup.
Shelton with an impeccable performance in the post match interview

I agree on Shelton, he came off very well. Definitely maturing.
“…especially when other teams are making moves left and right.”
Z-man, I’m even less distressed about this than you. There were some big trades to start things off, a thing we didn’t need to do as we were set across the board with a championship pedigree. We lost our flawed second-string center and got a flawed one back.
Of late the trades are like the utterly pointless trade of Taj Gibson and AJ Johnson for Jordan Hawkins, Micah Peavy, a future second-round pick, and a future second-round pick swap. That’s like stirring a pot of week-old macaroni that’s growing green hair.
And yes they waived Taj and no let’s not pick him up, much as I appreciate him.
Raven, all true, but this is so BORRRINNNNGGGGG!!!
That seems to be the plan unless some kind of great opportunity comes along and they trade Deuce.
The word is they are comfortable with Drummond as backup.
other than philly, think the hawks and cavs upgraded the most…
hard to see this cavs team being anything but a mess in 2 seasons, but this season and next they’ll be right there competing to reach the conference finals…
resigning mccollum, adding dort and giving johnson another year running an offense…they should be a bunch better this year…
I dunno, geo, the Heat and Raps may have upgraded and we still don’t know what’s going on with the Pistons. Then Orlando might be sneaky good just with internal development.
Something happened!
Milicic, Jr. is a 24-year-old 6’10 forward who last played on the Spurs’ Summer League team and the Sixers’ G-League team.
Averaged 12 and 9 with 1.7 stocks per 36 and shot 37% from three (interesting!) on a 52.6 TS% (blech) in the G-League last season.
Polish Power!!
I don’t see anything to like in Miličić’s stats but it is cool that we signed a Croatian guy right after I got back from Croatia
Not sure why…but i always like it when sabalenka loses…especially to rybakina…
I don’t read the news anymore, was Poland annexed by Croatia?
He had dual citizenship.
Son of Darko?
Knicks currently have 13 players under contract, one short of the 14 qualifying contracts the CBA requires to be in place as of the time of any contract signings with an Exhibit 9 clause. Most Exhibit 10 contracts include the Exhibit 9 clause, and that would almost certainly be true in Milicic’s case, if the Knicks intended him to participate in training camp.
Based on what transpired last September at this time, when the Knicks were two short of the qualifying 14 contracts needed, my take is that some player (perhaps Milicic, perhaps Mitch Mascari) is going to get signed to an Exhibit 10 contract without the Exhibit 9 clause, to get the Knicks to 14. Then the Knicks will make their signings of contracts with Exhibit 9 clauses. Then the player on the Exhibit 10, without the Exhibit 9, will be promptly waived to G-league, with no risk he will incur an injury participating in camp.
Dink Pate and Bryson Warren were signed to Exhibit 10 contracts and waived the same day last year, with the Knicks two short of 14. And the Knicks made all their Exhibit 9 signings that same day, Monday, Sept 15 (per BBall Reference transaction history). The day that news of a player’s signing leaks isn’t necessarily the day it officially happens and is communicated to the league office.
Good band name
This would be what I guess as well. Dude does not seem good.
He shot 37% from 3 over 35 shots during the tip-off tournament. Over his next 107 shots of the regular season, he shot 25%.
