Disappointingly I am very centrist except about David Lee. I subscribe to Matt Yglesias’ substack even, something which generates opprobrium from all sides.

Mamdani really is charismatic though. Could be a small man crush developing.

Is that (small man) crush, or (small) man crush?

Actually I just checked, he’s apparently 5’10”. I’d have guessed shorter.

The Capture season 2 is a solid binge. Girlfriend was away for the weekend so I relaxed at home and watched the six episodes. Such a pleasure to have something take away your mind without making you feel stupid.

Z-man, are you talking about The Capture? If so, it’s definitely available over here. I happened upon it and made the original recommendation to darules.

cyber, glad to hear that you and your boy had such a magnificent adventure. My bout with gout is just about better enough to walk without a limp, so I am thinking about doing a day hike with my son in the White Mountains of NH. There’s a particular jaunt in Franconia Notch called the Falling Waters Trail that takes 2-3 hrs straight up alongside a cascading stream and eventually gets up above tree line in the Presidential Range. I’ve done it solo, and separately with each member of my family, all with clear skies and magnificent views The most fun part for me was seeing how my 3 kids reacted differently to the rigor of the climb. Now that he’s 27, there’s a great brewery in nearby Littleton NH (Schilling) where we can celebrate the climb differently than when he was a kid!

The end of the world – or as near to it as we’ve been since whatever. It’s like a hydrogen bomb going off by mistake during testing in the middle of the Cold War nuclear arms race.

HAL seems very earnest, and ambitious…we just can not help but create artificial “life” with our own image in mind…good and bad…survive, evolve – collaborate…

in other projects it’s been noted how quickly different ai systems will switch communication methods once they recognize they’re interacting with other ai…yeah, we have a problem on our hands for sure…

no doubt it will all work itself out…at some point the script will seriously flip though…we’re at war with ourselves, no reason to believe ai will be any different…

Bakers flip the baked cookies upside down and hand-dip them into warm fudge, creating a frosting layer that is nearly as thick as the cookie itself.

oh, I like what i’m reading there 😊

Do you think there is anything to be said for Mikal Bridge’s dedication to his consecutive game streak being a negative on him as a player?
