Watching Milwakee vs Denver now and Giannis’ body language is worth a thousand words. He’s barely interested. Zero joy. Honestly, not sure he cares to compete at all. Milwakee is a lottery level team with or without Giannis.

    Well, per Shams:

Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo tells media postgame tonight he has a right calf strain and expects to miss 4 to 6 weeks. MRI on Saturday.

Real injury that further decreases the chances of Milwaukee trading him in-season? Or is this an Operation Shutdown situation to force them to move him?

That plus KAT being questionable made me get way ahead of myself.

    Speaking of which:

Hukporti 2-3 from BEHIND THE ARC last night. Way too excited about this; a prospect shoots three 3-pointers in a minor league game.

I noticed that in that G-League game, Dadiet had quite a good box score in 37 minutes of play. Then I checked and saw that he was matched up with our old buddy Kevin Knox II.

Big game today and… i really don’t like early games, let’s hope the team is 100% focused since the get go.

Oh, and there’s another thing turning this an even bigger game, since yesterday our rivals did this:
    – Detroit with a statement win against the Rockets, with KD having 32 and 7.
    – Boston almost had a blunder, going to OT with the Nets, but in the end prevailed. They play again tonight in Chicago, let’s hope they’re tired from the OT game.
    – Toronto won in Portland with another good game from Quick (20-8-7).
    – Cleveland won against SAC, the stats from Sabonis look good if anyone is still thinking trades. 😛
    – Orlando only plays tonight, they host the Cavs, another big game.

Speaking of serendipity, I went to see Marty Supreme last night…it was okay, maybe a bit disappointing compared to all the hype. But the highlight for me was immediately recognizing one of my all-time NBA fave HOFers (and possibly one of the most underrated players of all time) in a cameo role that was perfect for his unique swag.

That plus KAT being questionable made me get way ahead of myself.

That’d be a dream come true, maybe KYN is working some magic with his mother. LOL
But… are we allowed to dream in NY? 😛

Awesome. If he somehow turns into a strech-5, that’d be amazing.

Last season i thought i saw an NBA player there, but now i’m not so sure, has he improved at all?

Wow, is this today’s trivia question? 😉

Detroit with a statement win against the Rockets, with KD having 32 and 7.

    Detroit lost, my man.

    Detroit lost, my man.

Oh sorry, i saw the score in reverse. LOL. That’s good news, then. Wouldn’t like them to have a statement win. One less thing to worry about.

Need a win today. National TV, both teams at full strength (I’m guessing KAT will play), still some bad blood from playoffs 2024, Knicks coming off a bender. I’m expecting a big game from Cap today, his ankle is probably feeling better after a couple of day’s rest.

cyber, there is a massive snowstorm headed our way here in the NYC area, continuing what has been a throwback winter here. Have you ever seen snow in Porto?

cyber, there is a massive snowstorm headed our way here in the NYC area, continuing what has been a throwback winter here. Have you ever seen snow in Porto?

Yes, but very little, not even for a big snowman. 😀
We’re in the middle of a storm too, but the damages are big waves crushing the shore, and also snow but only in the countryside far from the coast.
Outside storms, in the region of the village where i spent my elementary school days with my grandpa, i have snow 4 or 5 times every year in the mountains there (with a higher elevation than the ones in Porto where i live). It’s only around 50 miles from here, and i go there a lot.
You take care, massive snowstorm doesn’t sound very good to me.

Re: the storm, good timing for the Knicks, who are at home today and then again on Tuesday, with no travel in between.

We’ve bought a small mountain of food and two huge bags of salt, and have arranged to have a couple of neighborhood kids come to shovel the driveway. Assuming we don’t lose power or internet, we’re all set.

I have an old pal who among very many accolades is a storm chaser (yeah, like in those movies). When a big storm barrels in, he researches and writes a very wide-ranging note to folks about it and as a climatologist breaks it down for people based on a range of different weather models.

Basically he’s very excited about this one. Two things perhaps not reported elsewhere are 1. It’s going to get effing cold today, apparently, so wear your mittens; and 2. there may be a second storm in a week or thereabouts, so get back out to the store for goodies when you can.

I’ll leave you with the quote about the snow on Sunday: it “should yield a broad swath of moderate to heavy snow sustained for 12 or more hours, very likely giving New Yorkers and many others their largest snowfall since early February in 2021, when 17.4 inches was registered over several days in Central Park. Several hours of sleet on Sunday evening may reduce totals somewhat along the coastal, including NYC, but despite this, I believe that snowfall totals exceeding 8 inches will be experienced region-wide, and twice that amount is possible for parts of the metropolitan area away from the coast.”

So batten down, stay warm, and enjoy!

The important thing is that they definitely should benefit from some rest. This game will undoubtably be taxing, but overall they will have 3 “home” games in 9 days, two of which come against soft opponents.

But starting on Tuesday, the shit hits the fan. Between then and the all-star break, they have 10 games in 16 nights with a bit of travel, including a 7-game stretch that features games against the Lakers, Nuggets, Celtics, Pistons, and Sixers.

durent averaging 28.6 ppg over his last five games at 37 years of age and after the achilles and all that is pretty impressive

For those who will be stuck inside and are looking for non-sports entertainment, I recommend Part 1 of the Mel Brooks documentary on HBO. I have always thought that Brooks was one of the funniest people around, more so for his interviews on talk shows and his improvisations, than his movies( though I really enjoyed them as well). Also did not recall that Brooks gave David Lynch his start in The Elephant Man.

It is a partly cloudy 80 degrees in Boca Raton this morning. Thankfully I won’t be seeing the East Village and Fire Island til July 1st 🙂

Fascinating narrative game today. We’ve seen a very long stretch of listless, disinterested play with terrible offense and defense where there was no visible coherence, and then a team-record beat-down of an admittedly shitty team (although we lost to a variety of also shitty teams during that stretch) where almost everything clicked.

So what’re we gonna see today, against a dangerous team clicking on (most) cylinders?

If we get blown out today, at least I’ll get to enjoy reading the total meltdown Tweets on X.

He took a 3 against Detroit in garbage time. There was 18 on the shot clock and Detroit left him WIDE open.

I was confused because he doesn’t seem like the kinda guy who would shoot a 3 just for giggles even in garbage time. I guess that’s something he’s just been working on and the team might’ve actually gave him the greenlight.

    Here they are: https://youtube.com/shorts/0fi9Sj5EhzY?si=VTAm9KYBSpZW0Rmk

Grew up playing soccer and switched to basketball late and has dealt with a number of injuries. Maybe there’s more to him despite being on the older side.

I’ve said it annoyingly repetitively, but I think there’s a decent player in Huk. He showed some real skills when he got some minutes last year before getting injured. Very good rim protector, blocks shots, sets solid picks, rolls for dunks, and had a decent tear drop that sadly seems to have disappeared (so far) this year.

Not saying he’ll be a star, but I think there’s a very useful rotation player in there. I tend to think of him like Queta, but he’s now become the Celtics starter. And my sense is Huk may be more athletic than Neemias (sorry, Cyber).

I would certainly advocate for him taking all of Yabu’s minutes, especially whenever Mitch sits. Keep KAT at the four, or give Huk a few minutes with Hart or OG at the four.

Big game today and… i really don’t like early games, let’s hope the team is 100% focused since the get go.

A 30 point win today with KAT looking fully bought in and I’m willing to put one foot back on the bus.

The rest of the games before the deadline aren’t likely to tell us as much as this one. We play Sacramento, Toronto, Portland, LA, Washington, and a Jokic-less Denver. We could win all those games by a margin of 25 points and it wouldn’t mean as much as today.

Huk also has an AST:TO ratio above 1 this year. This sounds like the faintest of praise but that’s been a big drag on his value. Last season he had 2 TOs for every assist and in Australia it was 2.3 TOs per assist. It also spoke to his lack of comfort and understanding on the offensive end. He could set solid screens, roll, and flashed some nice touch but something wasn’t clicking.

Tend to agree with you Hubert. Denver always scares me, but they’re now down Jokic, Murray, Watson, Valanciunas, and now Gordon.

BPL, seems your timing is propitious — Boca Raton is not expected to be underwater until ~2050.

Enjoy the high life! (13 feet asl, I believe…)

I really hope we win today. I’m sick from this national tragedy.

once more we gather to deafen ourselves with the numbing solace of lambasting the fiddlers for failing to get back on defense

Huk is ours, Queta is not. Of course i root harder for Huk. 😉 Well, in Queta’s case i root for him to have a good game and for his team to lose. LOL

After Hubert’s comment i went to check how they are “surviving” this stretch without Jokic, because my son is a fan and i thought they’re still winning. Well, they are 3rd in the western conference and 9-5 in the games without Jokic. Pretty good, i’d say.

But there’s more, on January 5 they played in Philly, with Maxey, Embiid, Paul George, Edgecombe and McCain all playing. Denver had the following players out: Jokic, Murray, Gordon, Braun, Cam Johnson, Hardaway Jr and Valanciunas.

Denver won 125-124 !! How about that?

new thread inbound, so I’ll say this:

Well, they passed a law in ’64
To give those who ain’t got a little more

and well, it’s taken some time to fester, but here we are…

it’s like giving those who don’t have much makes those at the top feel like they have less…

and they do not like that…so, goodbye to america’s new deal and farewell to any kind of great society…

this was always coming…so now this is a time for heroes and sadly more martyrs to try and keep the field as level as possible – for the most of us…
