Is there any data to support the efficacy of performing a team wide exorcism ( or maybe Dolan can get a package deal for the Rangers/Knicks)?

Funny, Bo, I was just going to post that there was some kind of malaise infecting this team. In other words, this loss (and others) were not just variance or fatigue or Brunson tweaking his ankle or playing down to an opponent on the road. There is a lack of consistent togetherness. The execution does not match the talent.

I would guess that some of it is Brown’s experimentation with lineups and minutes, as opposed to Thibs’ rigid approach. But last night, the Kings looked like the better team, and even the more talented team.

These are the dog days, and other top teams are going through stuff as well. But some of these performances are worrying me.

The idea of placating Mikal (*) by giving him a bigger role at the expense of KAT has been a dreadful fail. It never should have been done.

Chris Drury has run the Rangers into the ground. He’s dreadful.

(*) And to a degree, OG.

The idea of placating Mikal (*) by giving him a bigger role at the expense of KAT has been a dreadful fail. It never should have been done.

It seems to be delivering the same result as the plan to placate KAT. Team’s record and ORtg have been tracking all year.

The difference is OG & Mikal didn’t tank their performance bc they weren’t happy.

    1

Fair, but I’d have thought the idea was to hire a more sophisticated offensive mind than Thibs, who would then use and deploy his two offensive superstars to have an even better offensive rating.

If the idea was to become more egalitarian just because, I’m afraid I must dissent.

You substitute average KAT numbers for this bullshit he’s vomiting on the court this year and you would have that.

FWIW OG seems to be tanking on defense as much as KAT is tanking on offense.

A new system some aren’t fully into it- check

    Low effort- check

Coach getting things off his chest postgame , but doesn’t matter if the locker room isn’t all in with you- check

Towns should’ve been the focal point when Brunson left. 13 points on 14 shots. When you read that stat you already know KAT had no impact. For as bad as an offensive coach as Thibs is called he got Towns in his system to play much better and seemed to command a level of respect in the locker room . Brown has to earn respect . Until that happens the “ebbs and flows” will continue.

That play when Towns was on the floor for a good 10 seconds, never tracking back, feels like a fork in the road moment. They probably won’t be able to do anything about it this season, but I think he’s a goner in the offseason.

    2

Last night was a great opportunity for KAT to prove he’s only having a bad season because of that dastardly Jalen Brunson.

    2

I honestly don’t understand what KAT’s issues are. He gets plenty of touches when he’s out there; it’s not like the Knicks freeze him out.

I’m genuinely sick of this dude’s attitude and performance lately. Get him outta here.

Does feel like we’re at a breaking point with KAT. I’m not sure what to do about that, unless Giannis forces his hand to NY and only NY. What’s his market?

I’d do hubert’s Zubac trade in a second, but the Clippers would laugh at it, I think.

[Thibs] seemed to command a level of respect in the locker room

The front office needed to use a roster spot on a coach to give the players someone they’d listen to. Then the players got Thibs fired.

Mike Brown is simply executing the organization’s vision. The players cried. Thibs got fired. And the Knicks hired a coach with a mandate to create this offense.

There were holes in Thibs’ offense bc he was plugging other holes on the team. By plugging that hole with a new coach, we have opened up the holes Thibs was plugging all along.

It wasn’t Thibs. It isn’t Brown. The pieces don’t fit. It only looks great when there’s some level of sacrifice that these guys don’t want to make consistently. Maybe they’ll find it again.

    1

At this point it’s pretty apparent this group doesn’t give a shit about the regular season so hopefully they do enough to get 50 wins and a Top 3 seed like last season and show their NBA Cup mettle during the playoffs.

You think Karl is consulting KATgpt for how to handle this season. That reflection looks as twisted as his game and overall Knicks constitution. Like Putin got a pee tape on him or something.

    1

That play when Towns was on the floor for a good 10 seconds, never tracking back, feels like a fork in the road moment.

I’m stuck on the same analogy but it was like Nomar in the dugout against the Yankees in 2004.

KAT better bring it tonight. Butler and Draymond are licking their chops.

How’s Anthony Davis’s approval rating today? Personally I find myself more approving and that’s with the hand injury.

Also, I didn’t get to address something crucial on a previous thread, weeks ago, which was certain posters crediting Timothee Chalamet’s ability to name a certain Knick with a shaved head and big beard (I won’t spoil it in case you’d like to play). I contend that there’s only 2 names that should come to mind and that most posters on this site *should* get it right.

I’ll always pick the superstar over the coach or the “organization.” The association has been a superstar league from at least the time Magic whacked Paul Westhead. It goes a bit against the grain of my “real life” proclivities, but context matters and thus so be it.

If I’m gonna pick KAT over Thibs, I’m sure as bleep gonna pick him over Mike Brown.

The delta the organization should have snagged was between (1) KAT playing for Thibs, who he didn’t really like and/or had a bad history with and (2) KAT with a coach he actually liked. Opportunity badly squandered.

There’s plenty of evidence that KAT enjoyed played with Thibs last year. That wasn’t the issue.

He’s a frustrating player and he’s loafing and you guys are down on him. Understandable. That said, he’s a top-15 player and was under Thibs. Offensively, he’s a superstar beyond question.

There’s no serious sense in which it can be argued that Mike Brown is getting the best version of KAT. He isn’t.

He’s certainly not untouchable in a trade, so long as it’s a talent accretion, or at least neutral. Another “fit” trade, a la OG, will close the window for good.

I think KAT and Thibs got along just fine last year. I think whatever beef they had in Minny was water under the Bridge.

We fired the guy who turned around our franchise and got us to the conference finals for the first time in 25 years because Leon Rose gave up 5 picks for Mikal and Mikal was unhappy.

The easiest thing to do would have been to run it back with a stronger bench, have Thibs and Mikal work it out and see what happens.

It’s not just KAT. Yabu was supposed to be our FA acquisition and he also, has been lost under Brown.

Brown is corny AF. Taking a team photo with someone wearing a hard hat award for defensive player of the game is cringe (as the kids would say).

The record and metrics might look similar but weren’t we supposed to have a better bench and offense? At least Thibs’ teams won on the road.

But sure, let’s blame the 8 time all-star and trade him for a bag of peanuts because our new coach who has been here for literally less than half a season can’t make it work with him.

He had a 3.5 Obpm last year. Tied for 23rd with Cam Johnson and Payton Pritchard.

He also had a meager 1.6 Obpm in the playoffs and got screamed at by his teammates on the bench for being a dipshit.

    That’s not a superstar, dude. It’s a role player.

he may be an offensive superstar but hes currently not playing like it in his last five games hes averaging 15 and 8 on splits of .433/.333 (one made three per game)/.739 over 30 minutes per game no bueno

Yabu was supposed to be our FA acquisition and he also, has been lost under Brown.

Yabu could’ve looked good last season because he had free roam on a tanking team. Not enough evidence to say he’s a solid player.

Hot take. We should move on from KAT but also hiring Brown might not have been the right move and very well could be a downgrade from Thibs.

We fired the guy who turned around our franchise

Actually we traded him for KAT. And Minnesota is pleased as punch that this shit is someone else’s problem.

Don’t act like this started with Mike Brown. KAT’s been unhappy before, and his teammates have hated him before, too

    2

Three Theses and then I’ll leave it at that and we’ll see how things play out:

    1. Mike Brown isn’t getting close to enough out of KAT and KAT doesn’t like playing for him.

    2. No sensible team would ever think of picking Mike Brown over KAT.

    3. KAT going out in a “fit” trade will be the end of the window.

I don’t get KAT’s attitude either. He’s solidly 2nd on the team in FGAs per game. Does he expect to shoot more than Brunson?

If he’s in a slump, fine, but he needs to lead with effort. You shouldn’t need a coach to tell you that.

The only grace I’ll give KAT is that Thibs was kind of an expert at hiding him on defense, and Brown just seems to throw him out there expecting him to be as decent as any other player.

I’m not sure what needs to happen — maybe full-time zone or something drastic like that — but the defense is just laughable right now. Shooting slumps happen, but joke defense should make everyone go to defcon 5 (or is it 1?)

I don’t think anybody needs to worry about a KAT trade, because I don’t think other teams are itching to pick up his contract right now.

We lost last night because Sacramento played some inspired defense, no one on the Knicks could hit a shot in the ocean and the ball wasn’t moving well except when Kolek was on the court. Kolek made a few nice passes that lead to open misses.

    Towns is Towns.

He shoots open 3s and drives to the basket.

If the defense makes his drives difficult and the offense is not getting him good looks from outside on kickouts or trailing, he’s not going to suddenly develop a new scoring skillset operating off the dribble in midrange or posting up down low.

If you can effectively take away his 3s and meet him with help on his drives he’s going to draw fouls, but overall he’s going to have a rough night, force things and turn the ball over at times.

Towns only took one 3 last night, but I wasn’t paying close enough attention to what the Kings were doing and how many minutes he played with Kolek.

It was just one of those nights nothing was going in and they threw in the towel a bit early in a meaningless game.

Last night was the perfect example of why, when one suggests that the proper “balance” trade would not be KAT for Giannis but Brunson for Giannis, it’s ultimately the wrong choice. It makes sense on paper, but in reality, it would be a huge mistake.

Brunson and KAT are both weak defenders. Both are (can be) amazing offensive players. But aside from the fact that KAT can’t seem to create for himself and Brunson can, Brunson seems to have a will to win, a no quit mentality that KAT simply lacks. You can’t win with players who aren’t accountable. Brunson is, KAT ain’t.

Not that Giannis is/was on the table for just KAT, but if he were, the correct move is still to keep Brunson and trade KAT, even if we lose spacing, even if we lose size. Last night, half court was the Rubicon, and the entire army went on to Rome while KAT fiddled.

I wouldn’t pick Brown over KAT, either, but it’s about accepting that there is no coaching solution to this roster problem. That’s the lie Leon sold Dolan on last year.

And I can’t see a world where KAT’s teammates are thrilled because we fired a coach whose crime was trying to get everyone involved on offense so we can go back to the system they all hated. It’s not like KAT is prime Shaq and all we have to do is placate him and ride his coattails.

    1

all of these games cant be meaningless they start to mean something if there end up being as many of them as weve been having

    2 things:
    1. I don’t think we traded for KAT because he was better for this team than Randle. I think it was in large part because we needed a productive C, and KAT’s offensive skill set was very much worth taking a gamble on. A gamble that could still work if Brown & crew can rein him in. Speaking of that..
    2. KAT has to settle in and be stronger willed than he’s shown this season. He truly wants to be a Knick, but I think the Giannis talk ate him up. Either that or he’s nanges up more than we know

And yes, it’s true the shots weren’t falling, but some players dug deeper and some rolled over (literally). Mikal in particular kept putting out effort – to no particular avail, but still – hustling for steals, running the break, etc. He didn’t have it last night, but he still was fighting. On the most basic level, that’s what every fan wants. That’s why we could love the “we here” team despite their manifest limitations. It’s why we loved Randle, and why it was so incredibly disappointing to see him “out” on the team the next year. NYC has always been about aspiration and hustle, and we’ve always bought into “the team is more important than the stars.” (Look no further than LA if you need a counter example.) If KAT played the same game but was busting it, we’d worry about our ceiling etc, but we wouldn’t want to offer him up for free as a replacement for Laika.

Brown is not going anywhere. They just fired Thibs in a controversial way and gave Brown a huge contract. No way!

One keystroke spent on that discussion is one wasted keystroke.

It’s on Brown to make sure they are moving the ball and Brown/Brunson/Kolek to figure out how to get Towns good looks on a more consistent basis. 7’0″ Towns is not going to become 3 level ball handling wing any time soon.

It would be funny if we traded KAT to Golden State. Obviously the old KAT-Butler beef makes it very unlikely, but KAT’s prototype is kinda what the Warriors need/want. Plus, we could use a guy like Dray to beat the shit out of some people (on other teams and ours).

Actually we traded him for KAT. And Minnesota is pleased as punch that this shit is finally someone else’s problem.

I can’t argue with this, lol. But just saying. Thibs was here for how many seasons? 4 playoff appearances, 3 second round appearances, one conference finals appearance. Best coach record wise since Van Gundy and we threw him to the curb because Mikal was unhappy.

Mikal ain’t prime Lebron. Leon felt pressured because he gave up so much for Mikal and that’s why Thibs got fired.

When you work at a job and you progress towards more success, you shouldn’t get fired. We can say “oh thibs needed to do this better” but fact is, the team’s success progressed every season. First year – playoffs. Second year was a setback. Third year – playoffs and first playoff series victory. Fourth year, playoffs, first round appearance, got to game 7. Fifth year, playoffs and conference finals.

He got further pretty much every year (and won more regular season games each year too).

The easy thing to do would have been to run it back, get him some bench help, maybe an offensive assistant and see if we could punch through to the finals.

Thibs dealt with the KAT trade literally the day training camp started. Maybe an offseason of continuity, some group therapy sessions with him and Mikal, some bench reinforcements…was all we needed.

I mean damn. If that lucky bounce doesn’t go in for Hali in game one we very well might have been in the finals.

KAT is not a top 15 player, that is a completely absurd assertion. If he was having the best season of his life he still wouldn’t be a top 15 player.

    1

well since yesterday at least weve moved from discussing acquiring 41 year old washed lebron instead to acquiring 35 year old washed dray an improvement i guess by the way the old butler kat beef wouldnt matter if we aquired butler for kat but hes also 36 years old and a bit washed can we look at acquiring someone maybe around 27 or so

He truly wants to be a Knick

He acts like we extracted him from Minnesota in a midnight capture raid.

    1

If this starts to feel like Don Nelson in 1995-96 then they should let him go. But they should try to work out the kinks. KAT needs to buy in.

Bridges isn’t the only player who had issues with Thibs.

I mean I think you would be hard pressed to find many coaches in the NBA who some players don’t have issues with.

Ironically, I keep thinking if we were going to fire Thibs and hire Brown, we probably should have just brought back Precious for the vet minimum and saved the mid level on someone else. Precious might have done better under Brown than under Thibs.

I think Brunson and Hart loved Thibs.

It wasn’t just a Mikal thing. The players were visibly unhappy as a group. Precious refused to return to the Knicks while they had Thibs.

I’m not sure anyone is choosing Brown over KAT. People are simply choosing not KAT.

But just saying. Thibs was here for how many seasons? 4 playoff appearances, 3 second round appearances, one conference finals appearance. Best coach record wise since Van Gundy and we threw him to the curb because Mikal was unhappy.

“There is no coaching solution to this roster problem” applies to Thibs, too. I had my reasons for not liking him but I never thought the 2025 Knicks were a championship roster that he was holding back. (The 2024 Knicks, on the other hand…)

Mikal’s usage is down pretty significantly and he’s scoring even less per 36 and almost unbelievably getting to the line less.

This wasn’t a “I don’t like Thibs because he gave KAT all my touches” situation.

    Mikal’s role hasn’t grown; it’s shrank. He’s back to pure 3 & D.(*)

We need a new theory of the case.

(*) And he’s yet again helping anchor a profoundly mediocre D.

    KAT needs to buy in.

There’s the rub. He doesn’t. He gets payed whether he does or he doesn’t. We need KAT to buy in and so far it’s clear he doesn’t care what we need. Or what the team needs. Maybe his feelings were hurt, who fucking knows. it’s showtime and and the curtains up.

The thing about this team I’ll keep repeating is that when they’re all making sacrifices and buying in it looks really good. They just seem to really hate doing that. And that’s when all the fit issues bubble to the surface. I do think these guys can flip a switch and make it all better. Maybe like Al said they just don’t give a damn about the regular season and will start doing it all later.

The thing about this team I’ll keep repeating is that when they’re all making sacrifices and buying in it looks really good. They just seem to really hate doing that.

The counter to that, though, is that Mikal seems far happier and fully bought in, with the lesser role he has under Mike Brown.

There’s one guy who hasn’t bought in and we know who it is. He bought in last year.

Big picture, I’ve given it a coaching change, a new philosophy, and more data and fundamentally it remains the case that Wingstop simply isn’t good enough, creative enough, enough of a threat offensively for this team to *really* win. As a result, it’s absolutely imperative that KAT and JB be maximized. (It could have been theoretically overcome with a deeper and better bench, but Char, Incineration, yadda yadda. That ship has sailed.)

Thibs had run his course here, and while I was surprised he got fired after the Knicks’ playoff run, it was probably the right move.

Problem is, Brown is sort of a lateral move. He fixed some of the low hanging fruit problems, but the team doesn’t feel all that much better. What we really needed was a Spo/Carlisle level coach, somebody who could grind out that extra little advantage. Brown is probably not that guy.

He’s not a terrible coach and I actually find him to be a pretty smart and likable guy. But if we’re being honest he’s pretty mid as a tactician and not all that inspiring as a motivator. He’s a’ight, and that’s probably not quite good enough.

    1

These guys are massive egos and so we never really know exactly why they find particular coaches so distasteful, and Mike Brown certainly seems like a pretty chill guy.

KAT does, too. So in the absence of any clear douchebaggery, I’m going to take at face value his statements that it’s purely basketball-related and that he doesn’t like what he perceives to be his role in the offense, the places he gets his touches, the (true or otherwise) lack of deference to his offensive comfort zones, etc.

As a result, it’s absolutely imperative that KAT and JB be maximized

Why KAT? Why not just JB?

He acts like we extracted him from Minnesota in a midnight capture raid.

LOL yeah he sure did. I think that’s flipped this season. Seems like he’s really embraced being a Knick this season though- outside of the frustration in mastering his adjusted role. But I’m in agreement with the general consensus that he sould be a clear 2 to Jalen’s 1, with OG and Bridges holding steady as 3A/3B depending on who has the better matchup. Under no circumstance should those two be taking as many shots as KAT unless they’re on fire and KAT is killing the defense with his passing. KAT still needs to be aggressive though- whether he shoots or passes. He’s gotta get that ‘fuck who’s guarding me’ energy that other Knick all stars have had.

Why KAT? Why not just JB?

Because Bridges and Anunoby aren’t good enough offensively.

Mikal’s usage is down to 17.2. There’s a not insignificant sense in which he’s almost irrelevant. It’s nice to have efficiency at that low usage level, certainly it’s better than being inefficient in addition to being uncreative — but it’s way more important to have a maximized second all-NBA caliber player.

We knew going in that if they shoot 40+ threes a game there will be a handful of games they get blown out of the gym.

Knicks were 1:19 in the first half. Zero chance of being in the game when you shoot it at 5%. Chill out, raise your hands up and even scream if you like too. Its all part of the ride and a fun experience.

No major problem to fix so all proposed solutions add up to silliness.

Because Bridges and Anunoby aren’t good enough offensively

Mikal is as much part of the fit problems as KAT. That was a myopic move to match up with Boston.

Maximizing Brunson looks like the team Leon built before this. You cover up his defense with a strong rim protector and give him a second scorer who can also a secondary ball handler.

Maximized KAT is a 35 win team like Minnesota was

I mean I think you would be hard pressed to find many coaches in the NBA who some players don’t have issues with.

Prime Kawhi didn’t want to play for Popovich anymore, a top-10 coach of all time. This shit definitely happens.

I don’t think we need Mikal, either. That was a myopic move to match up with Boston.

Maximizing Brunson looks like the team Leon built before this. You cover up his defense with a strong rim protector and give him a second scorer who can also a secondary ball handler.

Then we’re back in 2023 Playoff Knicks/January Knicks territory. Looking better every day.

    (Ran out of edit time…)

Maximized KAT is a 35 win team like Minnesota was all those years he was posting huge numbers. They only got good when they minimized him.

Bridges was having a superb season until going into a fairly recent funk.

I have no problem dumping on KAT, but I think we need to ease up a little on Mikal.

Woke late, to many excellent hot takes this morning. A few thoughts:

We couldn’t make a shot yesterday. When that happens we lose against anybody, even the lowly Kings (who’ve weirdly been kicking ass lately).

Towns is in an absolutely mysterious funk. None of us, sadly, can explain it. I was watching part-time last night while doing other things, but (eye test) it looked like 1) he repeatedly had open threes he didn’t take for some reason, opting to hesitate and allow the defense to recover and then drive, and 2) he repeatedly missed bunnies, admittedly mostly contested. Again, mysterious, can’t explain it.

Everyone sucked last night. We couldn’t make a shot and looked like crap and fell way behind when Brunson was in at the start. You could almost argue we played better after he got hurt, but I think we played just as badly afterward. Maybe Cap would have ‘rescued’ us at the end if he hadn’t been hurt, but that shouldn’t happen.

I’m glad we have a game tonight, as this one could fester. If our shit play carries over, well then. Here’s hoping there’s some mirror-gazing going on.

KAT does not believe his threes are going in. He needs a system reset. Short of eating a bunch of uboga it might be time for the full Bob. Sit him in front of a mirror and tape his eyelids back while playing the cure in the background.

The question has always been whether there’s any roster KAT can be a main pillar that has a legit shot at a championship.

But to get the most out of KAT, you need a C or rim protecting PF who can shoot since he can’t protect the rim at all and there’s no point in having KAT if we’re not taking advantage of his spacing.

You need a halfcourt creator because KAT struggles by himself, one who can play defense because having 2 non-defenders is already asking a lot.

I don’t know, seems like a lot of holes to plug up

the good news is – we will get to watch them go at it again tonight…

    who knows what’s gonna happen…

too funny precious had some kind of revenge against us…

okay, not really that funny at all…

the good news is – well get to watch them go at it again tonight…who knows what’s gonna happen…

winning and alcohol is the beauty of life. If the shots go in tonight and we make 18+ threes, everything else looks sooo much better.

I don’t know, seems like a lot of holes to plug up

And Brunson has holes you need to plug, too.

And Brunson’s holes don’t overlap with KAT’s holes.

And Mikal doesn’t really plug any of them.

Warriors will be an interesting sign post. They’re not very good, but they have the ability to stomp on struggling teams. Which we are.

I’ll take winning. Alcohol you’re truly the smartest coolest hottest guy in the world for exactly 15minutes and then it’s all downhill from there. You’re just tryna plug all the holes. Indiscriminately.

    1

And Brunson has holes you need to plug, too.

    Josh Hart would agree, apparently

    3

if you have a high performance vehicle, you gotta check the oil from time to time

I need to stop listening to Macri. I rarely do but sometimes when I miss the game and want to know what happened (like today) I check him out on the way to work for some color and I always end up feeling hopeless on those days.

I would imagine that in person Macri might be insufferable, especially on bad days. His newsletter is pretty decent, and you can modulate the sound when reading it. It was pretty angry today, though.

I can imagine the amount of shit talking Butler and especially Draymond Green will be aiming at KAT tonight.

Short of eating a bunch of uboga it might be time for the full Bob.

What on earth is uboga? Drs Google and AI don’t seem to know.

I need to stop listening to Macri.

i too need to do a better job with not checking in too deeply with what’s going in the world as i awake…

seems pretty weird when there is any “good” news…

although the john harbaugh news wasn’t too terrible 🙂

“Uboga” (or “ubogi” for masculine) isn’t English slang; it’s a Slavic word (Polish, Croatian, etc.) meaning “poor,” often used for a poor person, but can be used in slang or informal contexts like “uboga para” (poor money/little money) in some South Slavic languages, similar to calling something cheap or worthless. While it sounds like “bugger” (contemptible person/thing) or “burg” (town) in English, “uboga” directly relates to poverty, not these slang terms.

your search rights are being revoked old man…

since it is on here there is a decent chance that it was a misspelling of uyoga geos explanation doesnt really make sense as it is not something that can be eaten as suggested by the original post that mentioned it

KAT for Zubac, Bogdanovic, Derrick Jones Jr., and Brook Lopez.

Any KAT trade should be a 1 for 2 that yields a PF and a C to balance the roster. We would need that multiplier effect to negate the talent loss.

I keep thinking Michael Porter and his 5.8 Obpm is a juicy option for the PF. The trick is finding the C on a team that wants KAT.

Maybe the Hawks? This works in the trade machine:

    – Knicks trade KAT for Porter and Okongwu
    – Hawks trade Porzingis, Okongwu, and a first for KAT
    – Nets trade Porter for Porzingis and a first

Seems like good business for all sides.

If I were an alien from another planet, and I arrived on Earth to see Knicks-Kings last night, I would have immediately demanded the Knicks be relegated to the G-League as in keeping with intergalactic sports policy.

Macri actually tends to be optimistic. Not unreasonably so, but he’d be the first to admit that he tries to skew that way on debatable questions.

He just has had it with KAT, as have I after a history of being a moderate KAT booster.

It’s one thing to struggle for half a season. Shit happens, shots don’t fall, etc. It is what it is, but take some damn accountability and try to fix it instead of making vague allusions to “role changes” no one can coherently identify.

Serious question, has the guy said “I need to play better” a single time this season?

ha, watching nba today and they showed a clip of KAT walking to the bench…

MB gives him a casual dap with his hand as KAT passes him – then immediately wipes it off before putting his hand in his pocket…

Both the serious trades being posted have the Nets taking back only a single 1 for MPJ and that seems very light.

I’m not out on KAT yet I’m just brainstorming.

Never give up on someone when they hit rock bottom. Watch how they respond to it.

Maybe this humiliation is what he needed. We should wait and see how he responds.

I think it’s actually great he has Jimmy and Draymond tonight. KAT will either show us his mettle or show us he has none.

it was pretty easy to predict that it would be a misspelling of some kind theyre pretty rampant around here myself included

yeah what black did was pretty cool hes turned into quite a player you already know that i dont use punctuation swifty so not sure why youre pretending not to know lol

Maybe stop not using punctuation, Doogie. Communication is not just writing down what you’re thinking, it’s having it understood by others. Punctuation is hugely helpful in terms of comprehending someone’s thoughts, so not using it is not only lazy, pointless, and often confusing, it is somewhat narcissistic and frankly disrespectful.

ptmilo and eecummings and doggie would like a word communication is also spelling things correctly but ive heard many times that we are not supposed to care about using correct spelling grammar punctuation (has that changed now) on this forum just trying to fit in

your search rights are being revoked old man…

I read that. How do you eat a bunch of poor?

i already pointed out that geos explanation regardless of his snarky old man comment didnt make sense because the original comment had to do with eating something clarence already was nice enough to clarencify what he had initially meant to say

Kuminga demanding a trade. Unfortunately the Warriors tend to thrive on contentious stuff, and it seems he hasn’t even played since mid-December. So I don’t think it’s going to throw them into a tizzy tonight.

deuce off the bench if they really dont like kuminga they could just send him over to our side of the bench at ht we could use him right about now

    Expected Lineup
    PG Tyler Kolek
    SG Josh Hart
    SF Mikal Bridges
    PF OG Anunoby
    C K. Towns

    MAY NOT PLAY
    G L. Shamet Ques
    G J. Brunson Out
    C M. Robinson Out

the real question Bob – how in the heck are there still drugs out there that I’ve never ever heard about…

just recently found out there are people who are like dehydrating frog venom in order to smoke it and get high…that’s some crazy stuff right there…

was doing some checking on viking stuff and saw that it wasn’t mushrooms that was helping them along to reach some kind of berserker state but rather some old common weed called henbane…

now I learn there’s this shrub over in africa that I didn’t even know existed that’ll get you tripping…

what a weird world to live in…too much, think I’ll indulge in an edible to try and process it all…

How do the Knicks medical staff waste time on pseudoscience cupping (see that in pictures of Knicks) and not having a psychologist to help these guys?!

Or just hypnotize kat to play defense. They already pseudosciencing, so go all in

Everybody today was trading away KAT. He became the scapegoat while everyone knows that options are not there and such trade is unlikely to happen in the short term. It was sad to read or hear this stuff. KAT is that same player who, with all his known flaws, made an all-star selection and all-NBA selection just last year. He had a career year along with other players on the roster. The core of our roster was the same last year, save we had no bench. About six, six and a half playable bodies. Also, don’t forget that KAT, Bridges, and others were new acquisitions. Still, we made it to the ECF.

This year, the roster is again far from perfect or balanced but it is significantly better than last season. I am not at all optimistic about it, but I think we still have a chance to put things together. KAT is not our major problem. It’s much more than that. I will leave it at this.

These PST games are really tweaking doggie/doogie out, I think we need to load manage him asap.

Check out In Waves and War on Netflix, Geo. I think you’ll like it. Ibogaine is saving vets lives and that’s a good thing.

didn’t cheech and chong profess to smoking dog shit at some point in that legendary film “up in smoke”?

This site would be the best thing on the internet if it wasn’t for two things: Doogie, and the Knicks.

KAT is that same player who, with all his known flaws, made an all-star selection and all-NBA selection just last year.

He’s also still the same player that Jimmy Butler said wasn’t serious about basketball.

He’s still the same player Minnesota benched in the 4Q of playoff games.

He’s still the same player who got salary dumped 16 months ago.

He’s still the same player OG screamed at in the playoffs for playing like a moron.

And he’s still the same player whose Knicks teammates took a collective dump on in the Fred Katz article two minutes after the season ended.

And he just literally laid down in a basketball game. Poor KAT, though. Boo fucking hoo.

    thanks clarence 🙂

looks like it was a combo of that shrub and the toad which helped to provide some relief and healing…

i remember when I was going through the cognitive therapy stuff and needing to focus on a specific impactful trauma point in the past…

it’s an effective means for having an anchor to work off of…what I soon realized though was that there were multiple incidents of a decent amount of trauma/drama to choose from…

more than that – it’s easy to see how that’s a pretty common thing for many (if not most) folks…shoot, minus the health stuff I’ve had a pretty smooth journey along the way…and still…

while back I remember learning that some of that mushroom stuff had a significant positive therapeutic effect for suffers of migraines…surprised the heck out of me…

sometimes an important distinction between just getting high and getting some help…I don’t have great faith in the pharmaceutical sector, so it’s definitely heartening to hear of folks utilizing either ancient or rediscovered medicinal techniques…

Last year we had no bench but our starting 5 was basically healthy the entire season except for the few weeks Jalen missed.

This year we have a deeper team and brown is willing to play more guys but we’ve had more injuries to key guys so far.

But I tend to agree. Continuity, a new coach/voice and offense, plus a deeper bench was supposed to mean a better team with an easier regular season but somehow it’s all KAT’s fault we’re struggling. Can’t even comprehend the fact that maybe Thibs was a pretty good coach and we fired him without replacing him with someone better. We’ve trade bridges being unhappy for KAT being unhappy but the problem is that KAT being a unhappy and struggling is a far bigger problem bc KAT, for all his flaws, is a much bigger offensive weapon than Bridges. Not to mention that during this struggle Mikalhas also regressed and OG too.

Also just saying KAT should hit his threes kind of misses the point. Players tend to make threes when they’re comfortable with the system and getting the ball in their spots, in rhythm, etc. Same reason why Mikal wasn’t hitting them last year.

Continuity, a new coach/voice and offense, plus a deeper bench was supposed to mean a better team

Thibs was fired for “not maximizing the roster.” Right or wrong, that move was made without having a clearly better alternative. Brown and his staff don’t look to be one so far for sure, although they still have time to show what they can do. Thibs firing was a bad move, as bad as spending five picks on Bridges and then panicking and bringing in KAT a summer before. It was the summer of 2024 when the big problems really started and it was a miracle that we made it to the ECF in 2025.

I would speculate that ceteris paribus Thibs could possibly get us to the finals this season but this is a meaningless point. Besides, I am not sure that this is a championship caliber roster anyway. I hope I’m wrong.

How do the Knicks medical staff waste time on pseudoscience cupping (see that in pictures of Knicks) and not having a psychologist to help these guys?!

Does the med staff do it? I always assumed players went and got it themselves.

Placebos are a hell of a drug.

There were a lot of high expectations at the start of the season and lately the team is not meeting them. Of course players are unhappy. Something like this always happens when we’re on a losing streak. One year everyone wanted to trade Randle and thought he was useless because he was unhappy and had a bad attitude. This year it’s happening with KAT. Somehow yge team had to rise to the occasion and that will help fix things

Cupping can feel kinda good if your muscles are sore. This is of course a far cry from the wild claims people make about its long term benefits, which are in reality nonexistent, but it’s not necessarily bad as long as you’re aware it’s not going to realign your chakras or whatever.

KAT is that same player who, with all his known flaws, made an all-star selection and all-NBA selection just last year.

I mean, the fact that we know he can be much, much better than this is the very source of the frustration! Why is it not happening, and why isn’t he taking any accountability for it?

Obviously KAT is not the sole flaw of this team, and for us to have any chance whatsoever at winning a championship he’ll have to be a crucial player. I would argue, though, that he has been by far the biggest disappointment this year (a TPMLE signing going awry doesn’t qualify), and thus the biggest reason why we’ve been closer to good than great.

When employed by a skilled manual therapist (a structural integrationist/rolfer) cupping can be very useful. Not sure what the wild claims people make are.

I mean, the fact that we know he can be much, much better than this is the very source of the frustration! Why is it not happening…?

The very first comment I made after KAT’s signing in 2024 was that he “is not a needle mover.” Half of my comments last season had to do with how lost he is defensively. Personally, I was never a fan of his game. However, KAT is what KAT is, and he is a player on the roster. The question is how to maximize him.

I am coming now to your question. First, building a roster with the right players, the right fit, etc., is the job of the front office. The Knicks FO with its failures and successes, was doing an overall great job until the summer of 2024. Stealing JB from Dallas was their jewel. Then they started messing it up. That’s my view.

Second, making the best of the players you currently have on the roster is the job of the coaching staff. The current coaching staff is not doing a good job with KAT. It is their responsibility to fix the problem unless there is a trade imminent which does not seem to be the case.

On the side, I will also say beyond KAT that there are other issues with the team’s performance that I would put the blame on the coaching staff for, but this is for another discussion.

I think people dismiss various modalities mostly from ignorance as to what they are intended to do…..and/or they haven’t had it applied properly and it didn’t work for them

A couple of you fellas seem stuck in the Thibs-got-fired moment like you’re Uncle Rico 20 years after the Idaho State Championship.

If it’s Jan 15th and your response to KAT laying down on the ground is to act like everything was great until mike brown came along get a new schtick.

KAT was great for three months last year before tailing off sharply. He posted one of the worst bpms of his career last year.
