Grimey and Lonnie Walker IV *each* with 25 points in a Sixers win last night.
Cool dunk for Trey Murphy last night

Reminds me of myself in high school
Reminds me of myself yesterday afternoon.
Nice Edwards profile of OG: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6187609/2025/03/10/og-anunoby-knicks-nba-mets-prison-break/?source=emp_shared_article
I want a better binge for him than Prison Break, though.
Would they be interested in Mikal and KAT to add to Dame? We get Giannis and Kuzma, but then we re-route Kuzma to Charlotte for Nurkic.
Do we have picks to add to this offer?
A man can dream, or is this impossible?
LOL*
*well, i’m assuming you were kidding! 😛
I might have been kidding….
I am pretty tall and couldn’t come close to dunking despite spending a significant amount of my youth on the basketball court.
From The Bounce (by The Athletic): “The reason KAT missed the game (against the Warriors) was to support his girlfriend after her close friend died of breast cancer.”
I think the Knicks would have to go the player route because they’re pick strapped and can’t really move draft picks.
You better bring Phil and his triangle to coach this group because where is your 3 ball shooting coming from? Hart? Mitch? Giannis?
I’m trying to figure out why other teams in the Eastern Conference such as the Bucks and the Hornets (especially the Bucks) are going to all of a sudden be in the mood to help us get demonstrably better.
The idea that teams won’t do business within their conference or some such is ridiculous. Just like the Nets wouldn’t do business with the Knicks for whatever reason.
I never wrote (nor do I think) that the Bucks wouldn’t do business with the Knicks. I’m wondering why they would want to do this *specific* business with the Knicks.
That’s literally what you wrote.
I mean, I guess you didn’t say they wouldn’t do business with us but saying “I’m wondering why” deeply implies that you think they won’t. Don’t be obtuse.
Cause KAT and Mikal are both pretty good players? KAT is an all-star starter.
If the Bucks GM was Nico Harrison we could do Giannis for KAT straight up, but since it’s not, they’re not trading a perennial first team all NBA player for KAT and Bridges, or for that matter KAT Bridges and Deuce or whoever.
I guess part of it depends on where Giannis demands to be traded to, but other teams like OKC have way much more to offer and the Bucks would be crazy not to open up the bidding.
OKC def has more to offer but why would they want to trade all their talent for Giannis? They’re going to be perennial contenders as is. And they can draft behind themselves to stay talent rich. It’s exactly the way small market teams should play it.
1. I said “I’m trying to figure out why,” not “I’m wondering why,” so it’s *not* literally what I said; nor am I being obtuse.
2. You’re doing the thing that I’m constantly accused of—specifically, not understanding context when I purportedly should be able to. I was obviously responding to the previous post about us getting Giannis, so when I said that I’m wondering why the Bucks would do business with us, it was supposed to be clear that it was about that specific transaction.
Relieved that it appears A-a-ron Rodgers will be signing with the Steelers, since 1)I don’t have to root for a team w/Rodgers on it, and 2)It’d be yet another humiliation for a shockingly incompetent Giants front office that needs to be sent on its way ASAP. (Has a GM ever been fired after free agency began but before the draft? If not, time for John Mara to blaze new trails!)
Yes, I get that. And you were obviously implying that they would never do business with us because they are an eastern conference team, which is what cgreene responded to.
Apologies, but I’m kind of dumbstruck by an image of Juan Soto in The Athletic. If you go to the story (about Soto enlivening Mets culture) and look at the top picture of him running — try to imagine two images, the one from the waist up and the other from the waist down. It’s two different people, a trim, athletic guy on top and a huge guy on the bottom. As if Soto is standing in David Ortiz’s lower half. It’s like they photo-shopped it.
I guess that’s where he gets his power…
We should just trade AD for Luka like LA did. This GM stuff is easy.
Except that I wasn’t implying that at all; nor have I ever believed it. I wasn’t one of those folks who thought that OG was off the table because we were suing the Raptors, or who thought that Mikal was off the table because of the cross-town rivalry of sorts. 🙂
OK, but semi-serious question. Would you trade Mikal this off season for Kyrie straight up?
I’m not advocating it, just posing it as a fun thought exercise.
Re: Bucks,
It’s all a TBD until they get bumped out of playoffs. It really depends how much value Dame still has aroudn the league. Bucks may have no choice to move both and retool with a younger, cheaper but competetive roster. They can’t go OKC mode because they don’t own their own picks.
I wouldn’t trade a protected 2nd round pick for Kyrie. I don’t want him anywhere near the Knicks.
if Giannis for KAT happens, instead of Nurkic, Leon needs to add a tough rim protector and a stretch 5 who can at least hit the corner shot. Can’t have Giannis play with a Mitch rim runner type clogging the paint and Josh Hart.
Well, the Warriors won 73 games and went ahead and signed Durant just to make sure they didn’t blow another championship opportunity.
And I know it’s different signing a free agent vs. trading for a star, but still somewhat comparable to the OKC situation if they don’t win it this year.
Negative on Kyrie. He’s always been prone to injury (I feel like he’s only played ~70 percent of his teams’ NBA games over the course of his career) going all the way back to his college years, and now that he’s getting older and has yet *another* major injury, I wouldn’t want to roll the dice on him coming off of it.
I’m with Ben R. The other problem with Krazy Kyrie is that he’s incredibly skilled but only 6’2″. We’ve got a bunch of small guards, adding yet another one just adds to our defensive problems.
Kyrie Irving is a good player and other players seem to like him fine. The problem with him is he is hurt a lot.
Just read on the last thread about all those poor pitchers getting injured and needing surgery. Been a long, hard spring training, huh? They need more off days between starts. And maybe a pitch count too.
Geno Smith to the Raiders; Sam Darnold to the Seahawks.
Aaron Rodgers likely to the Steelers; Justin Fields to the Jets (why didn’t they just trade)? I can see Russell Wilson now going to the Giants.
Giants getting Wilson was what I predicted
Football has such a radically different perspective on draft picks than basketball that it hurts my head. Seahawks also just traded DK Metcalf to Pittsburgh for a 2nd round pick (52). Imagine an established NBA basketball star getting traded for something like that.
OKC absolutely has the right of first refusal on any superstar that isn’t part of a secret corruption tunnel between Nico Harrison and Rob Pelinka.
They could likely win the Giannis sweepstakes with just iHart, salary filler that isn’t SGA/JDub/Holmgren, and whatever number of picks it takes to beat out the next best offer. This results in:
Chet
Giannis
JDub
Dort/any of their half-dozen excellent 3 & D wings
SGA
That is easily the greatest team in NBA history and probably wins 75 games without trying that hard. They’d still probably be the most asset-rich team in the league on top of that.
They’re now 4th on offense, ahead of us, on top of GOAT level defense. They’ve gotten better throughout the season and are well positioned to peak in May. These are the wages of managing your personnel instead of playing Game 7 rotations every night.
If only the playoffs were held in January, Thibs might have a ring by now. Just kidding, we got embarrassed by ATL in the IST so he’d probably still blow it.
This date in Knicks history 29 years ago they blew out the soon to be 72-10 Bulls by 32 pts in JVG’s 1st career win.
BBA broke the site with the 1996 news.
Giannis probably doesn’t want to go to OKC so it’s moot.
Remember when there was no way iHart was gonna trade the bright lights of NYC for the tornado-scarred dust bowl of OKC? Especially with Mrs. Hartenstein’s budding modeling career in the balance?
The only possibility of the Freak coming to the knicks is by being highly superstitious and remembering our meeting a few years ago when i proposed him to go to the knicks.
Which is extremely possible since I’ve got white hair and look like God incognito!!!
😊
that’s true orange and blue KYN…
Keep in mind that the Bucks traded Jrue Holiday, a 2029 first-round pick (unprotected) and pick-swap rights in 2028 and 2030 for Lilliard.
They also hired Doc Rivers.
So they are not exactly a brilliant organization to start and now Doc Rivers will be advising them on trades. lmao
I think this is on Giannis. He’ll tell them if he wants to be traded and where his preferences are. I think the Knicks can win almost any deal other than against OKC if they are start with Towns and add to that.
I’m not sure I’d even be interested in Giannis if I was OKC. They might improve the team for a year or two, but to beat Towns they’d have to include a very good very young player and shorten their window.
I’m pretty sure if I was OKC I’d be thrilled with the team I have now, the length of the window and the ability to restock if the owner can’t pay everyone I have now. I wouldn’t mess with anything.
When Bucks get swept in 2nd round two months from now, its silly to think that they will just run it back again.
iHart, filler + ~10-12 draft picks & swaps is a legit deal. Send Dame to Miami for another 3-4 picks then flip iHart for ~2 more picks.
Giannis with SGA, Chat and the rest of the studs will threepeat. GOAT team status rivarling the old Celtic teams.
How can someone say that this outcoome woudn’t be a strong consideration for either Giannis or Bucks?
I would never say that about any outcoome.
I’m not really buying KAT as a legit trade chip for Giannis. If they’re moving him it’s for a teardown, so they’d want picks and expiring salary, not a guy who’s locked into $50m+ until the third Trump Administration starts.
Randle -> KAT -> Giannis would be like that guy who started with a paper clip and kept trading it for slightly more valuable items until he ended up with a house.
There are on the hook for multiple coach salaries and have Doc now. Doc is not going to accept an all out rebuild and it would be crazy to fire Doc at this point and pay yet another coach. They will certainly want more than just Towns. So we would have to add something else of value and take some garbage back, but I would not be shocked that if Giannis asked out (that’s the real question mark) that the Bucks try to compete with Lillard + whoever they get for Giannis and don’t go into all out tank mode. It may be the wrong thing to do, but they have’t done a single thing right since they won the champsionship with Bud. That’s why they are in the mess they are in even though they have one of the best two way players in the NBA.
Kristaps has missed six games and he says it’s because of a virus they can’t identify?
Lakers just lost to the Nets
Without Lebron
Luka kind of shat the bed, despite the triple-double. But 26 shots to get 22 points isn’t great.
Monica just pointed out that the Knicks are shooting (under) 25% from three over their last three games. Hadn’t tracked that.
Add to it that the Kings have been shooting 40% from distance lately. Things don’t look good.
The Knicks have taken the least amount of threes in the NBA since the All star break
Would be nice for the Knicks to somehow get a win tonight no matter how they do it.
