    Repost and update:

Rokas officially rescinded his contract with Barcelona and then signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
    It’s a 2-years contract with a team option for the 3rd year.

No details so far about buyout and NBA escape clause, but they’re standard elements in international contracts.

Looking at the current roster he’s projected as a starter, in my opinion a good news for his development (between Zalgiris and Barca he did start only 9 times in 165 EL games, even if he usually starts for Lithuania in international competitions).

Now we can go back to talk about the mysterious case of Precious Achiuwa (and don’t forget, as PT wrote, that Frank plays saturday! 😉 )

I think this is the right move for Rokas. I’m sure he craves starter’s minutes more than anything at his age, and he should get that in Tel Aviv. And there will surely be a buyout option for us.

Now please go back to worrying about the center position.

Any details on what he’s getting paid?

No, and alas it isn’t easy to find official numbers for european teams.
    But I’ll stay alert.

    @TommyBeer
With the Summer League officially wrapping up last night, we have wait 71 days to watch another basketball game with NBA players…

The first contest on the NBA’s 2024-25 preseason schedule is Boston vs. Denver in Abu Dhabi, which will take place on October 2nd.

    Boo. I hate waiting.

No, and alas it isn’t easy to find official numbers for european teams.
    But I’ll stay alert.

Presumably less than the 2nd Rd exceptions? I’d love the option to steal him away if we ever have fewer than 12 guards or whatever we have.

Yeah, Alan, the wait this year will be tough, as it always is. I’m not even all that interested in Olympics basketball.

Thankfully the Mets are at least relevant and the Jets are potentially good.

Well, there goes a trade asset we could have used for quality backup C now or later this season. We’ll see if he ever comes back, but I’m pretty sure it won’t be to play in summer league again. I think it’s better than even money he’s eventually going to wind up being a good player on a major team in Europe.

It’s worth noting that pretty much every team had executives, coaches, and scouts in Vegas. If Rokas is some NBA-ready guard whose talents are being hand-waved by the Knicks, one would think that a team in need of a young guard would offer something for him, or would value him in a trade. And if he goes over to Maccabi and puts up good numbers in a starting role, he will only become more valuable.

OTOH, if he rotted on the end of our bench (almost a certainty given our glut of guards) his value would hardly increase. This would be especially true if he only got a couple of hundred minutes of garbage time at the NBA level, which tends to devolve into the same kind of disorganized chuck-fest you see in summer league, leading to more “if only…” excuse-making from his fans.

Leon & Co. clearly know this. They probably felt they had to make a choice between Kolek and Rokas, and chose Kolek. One can fairly argue that it was the wrong choice. But keeping both on the roster made little sense, as at least one of them would surely be marginalized and lose value. Now there is ample flexibility with both players.

Yeah, Strat, you’re continuing to be extra-silly about this. We can trade Rokas at any time, and in some ways he is a more valuable asset now than if he was already signed to the Knicks, because his team control clock hasn’t even started yet.

Hey pt, since you were first to the party on Hartenstein, any opinion on The Big Yurt?

meh. thought he looked possibly interesting on miami a couple of years ago but he hasn’t obviously developed and didn’t look too hot on utah last year. he was supposed to have a great motor but it doesn’t jump off the screen. i don’t think you get enough rim protection for a guy that isn’t really a shooter or hub type. but still a decent depth option — has okay touch and footwork on the slip pass and isn’t a zero on defense.

Strat, we still have Rokas’s full rights and those can be traded at any time.

Let me know when someone is going to trade for the right to sign him at some future date “if” he wants to come to that team at the same value as him playing in the NBA now as the 3rd string PG/SG getting minutes for the Knicks. It’s not going to happen. Someone may take that asset as part of a deal, but it will be throw in as opposed to viewing him as a player that can help the team.

Presumably less than the 2nd Rd exceptions? I’d love the option to steal him away if we ever have fewer than 12 guards or whatever we have.

I’m pretty sure his contract is below the 2nd round exception and we have his NBA rights for the eternity or until we trade/renounce them.

Once upon a time NBA teams could “steal” players from international teams (no matter the contracts), but now there are written and unwritten rules between NBA and international leagues/FIBA and contracts are valid worldwide.

So, when you want a player already under contract, in the offseason you can just pay the buyout and get the player, while during the season the current team usually must agree to the transfer (and/or ask for more money).

    P.S. Fuck the auto-corrector…

Leon & Co. clearly know this. They probably felt they had to make a choice between Kolek and Rokas, and chose Kolek. One can fairly argue that it was the wrong choice.

That may have been the choice they contemplated, but imo it was the wrong choice to contemplate. It should have been between Rokas and Payne. I understand why they went with Payne. He’s the more experienced NBA ready player and they may not have full faith in Kolek yet, but imo they are overrating Payne. I think I know what he is. He’s going get hot from time to time, put up numbers and look really good. Everyone is going to say “see he’s a good”. But imo he’s net negative player overall and imo not the right backup PG solution. So imo we should be rooting for Kolek to win that job and for Paine to be the 3rd string injury insurance.

Since we’re in one of those rare, beautiful moments when good things look possible, here’s Katz on our little rookie this morning:

“(Brunson’s) game, I feel like that’s a little closer to what I like to do than T.J. McConnell,” Kolek said. “Play at my own pace, getting in the paint, getting guys involved. I can learn from him in the midrange, in that short area when I’m coming off ball screens or isolations. I’m just really excited to learn from him and watch him and take as much as I can.”

Hell, for all we know, now they’ll package Kolek with some other goodies for a center.

Don’t fall in love with these young’ns, Strat, because Leon’s in “championship or bust” mode. And yes, Payne is a perfectly cromulent backup (as is Deuce) because if Brunson goes down, the whole season is screwed anyway.

I guarantee that I will never say of Payne (or anyone): “See? He’s a good.” 🙂

“Let me know when someone is going to trade for the right to sign him at some future date “if” he wants to come to that team at the same value as him playing in the NBA now as the 3rd string PG/SG getting minutes for the Knicks. It’s not going to happen. Someone may take that asset as part of a deal, but it will be throw in as opposed to viewing him as a player that can help the team.”

I don’t get why you keep insisting that he was going to be our 3rd string PG/SG getting minutes for the Knicks. There was zero chance of that happening once Kolek was signed. So he either had value “as is” or he didn’t. This notion that he would somehow gain trade value between now and the trade deadline is utter nonsense. The only way that would happen is if either Kolek utterly failed or there was a rash of serious injuries. In either case, we’d have bigger problems than whether we could trade a 3rd stringer as part of a package for a backup C.

One more thing: Rokas will now be getting lots of playing time in a quality league rather than rotting on an NBA bench. If in fact Kolek underperforms, or gets injured, or is part of a trade package, and there is a need for a guard, they can always bring Rokas over in a buyout. Rokas has made clear that he wants to play in the NBA and he would get paid more for doing so. This notion that he is unlikely to ever return (if he is actually good enough) is ludicrous.

I guarantee that I will never say of Payne (or anyone): “See? He’s a good.” 🙂

I was simultaneously thinking about saying “good” or “a good PG” and somehow split the difference. 😉

Payne also makes more sense to me from a team fit perspective.

Rokas isn’t the best shooter. Although he hits a high percentage but doesn’t take too many 3s. You want a guy who can space the floor for Randle & Mikal when Brunson sits, especially in a Thibs iso offense. That’s not Rokas.

I don’t get why you keep insisting that he was going to be our 3rd string PG/SG getting minutes for the Knicks. There was zero chance of that happening once Kolek was signed.

I’m not sure why you keep saying this when I keep saying I wanted Rokas instead of Payne.

I love Kolek’s potential to be our backup PG.

I think Rokas may already be a better overall player than Payne, but if not now imo he will be eventually. I also know why they went with Payne, but I’m allowed to think they are wrong about him.

What I wanted was Kolek to be backup PG and Rokas to be 3rd string PG/SG. If Kolek is not ready now, I’d be willing to run with Deuce and split Randle/Brunson a little with the 2nd unit.

It should be obvious by now, this is mosty about me not being a Payne fan. I am conceding he’s going to go off some nights and look really good. Overall though, imo he’s going to be a negative.

Rokas vs. Payne? Come on, Strat. That is an absolute no-brainer. One is a developmental project, the other is a proven rotation player in his prime who has played 7,000+ NBA minutes and 800+ playoff minutes, and you are paying him the minimum so he can be cut at any time with zero cap implications, or included in a trade with a playoff team desperate for a backup PG. This is a championship-level team. Prioritizing Rokas’ development over having an actual proven NBA backup guard on a minimum deal is absurd, especially when you own that developmental guard’s rights and can bring him over at any time. Please stop with this nonsense.

I understand, Strat. When I make errors, it is almost always because I went back and changed something that I’d written earlier but because of bad multi-tasking skills or other issues don’t quite “get it all” when I make the fix/change. Thanks for taking it with the humorous purpose with which it was intended.

Also, re: Rokas vs. Payne, it’s very possible that Payne is not in the Knicks rotation, either to start or ever. And if he complains, he can be waived at any time with no consequences. But unlike Rokas, if he is out of the rotation, he won’t lose any value because everyone knows who he is and what he does. If Rokas was not in the rotation, he’d simply be rotting and losing value. And if you had to waive him to accommodate another roster move, he’d have zero value.

I can only assume Strat didn’t realize we maintain Rokas’ draft rights and can either trade them or sign him later. Once that is accounted for, there is literally nothing about his point that makes any sense.

As others have pointed out, Rokas’ value would almost certainly decline if he was our 13th man/3rd string point guard. He’d play a handful of minutes and the clock would be ticking on his contract.

There’s thus exactly one scenario in which it would make sense to bring Rokas over this season: you do it if you think he is better, right now, than Cam Payne.

I think that’s ludicrous, and I’m actually reasonably intrigued by Rokas.

    @wojespn
ESPN Sources: Veteran guard Reggie Jackson — who agreed on a contract buyout with the Charlotte Hornets — plans to join the Philadelphia 76ers upon clearing waivers.

I knew we retained his draft rights. We disagree on the value of that and the likelihood of it being used. I think it’s obvious his draft rights are worth less than if he was playing for the Knicks and showing he belongs on an NBA team – which I personally think he does.

Even if he was 3rd string, there would games where Brunson or Kolek were out and he’d get to play PG and other games where another player like DDV or Deuce was out and he’d get minutes as more of a scorer. He can score and he’s also a better PG than either of those other guys. I also think it’s less likely now he ever comes to the NBA and that’s part of it.

As to Payne. There’s a reason this is going to be his 7th team and you are not going to locate it by looking at his AST% or other boxcore stats and proclaiming he’s a PG or good fit on this team.

And while we’re at it, a short but pleasing quote on Kolek from a much-too-long J. Kyle Mann piece on the Summer League from The Ringer:

“Circumstances don’t seem to affect Kolek’s pace at all. Drag him behind a horse, perch him in a tree and whip him in the nuts with a cane … he’s still going to navigate a ball screen and survey the floor with a clear head.”

Strat…barring disaster Rokas would play, what, 500 minutes this season? That might be generous. He wouldn’t generate any trade value as a human victory cigar, and would in fact lose some since his contract would be ticking away. His trade value will be much better serviced if he plays well in a full slate of minutes overseas, and can still be signed on the cheap for 4 years.

Pointing out that Cam Payne, who we signed for a 1-year minimum deal to be either our ~12 MPG backup point guard or our 3rd string point guard, is not a stud, is disputing a point no one is making. He is a suitable backup point guard, probably an above average one, actually. That is all.

[Alan writes and then deletes 100 words explaining the silliness of Strat’s latest post, then decides to be the change he wants to see in the world.]

    https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5651448/2024/07/23/nba-summer-league-rookies-disappointments-zaccharie-risacher-alex-sarr/

Hollinger wrote about how all the French rookies had rough summer leagues, ours included:

Finally, 24th pick Pacôme Dadiet also struggled mightily in his minutes for the New York Knicks, shooting 12 of 39 from the field with a 4.09 PER in five games. His biggest highlight was slapping the board in midair after a dunk.

He also ran through a bunch of other rookies and second-year players who had a tough time in Vegas, including someone we debated hotly in the run-up to the draft:

    Ryan Dunn:

Of the first-round picks who played at summer league, Dunn probably did the most to arouse suspicions about his long-term viability. The rookie from Virginia was selected 28th by Phoenix, mainly for his defense, but questions about his offense drove down his draft stock. Dunn scored just 23 points in 102 minutes, shot only 1 of 13 from 3 and drew one measly free-throw attempt (a miss) in four games. More surprisingly was his anemic work on the glass, with just an 8-percent rebound rate for a player who will have to make his living as an athletic-energizer forward.

Even if he was 3rd string, there would games where Brunson or Kolek were out and he’d get to play PG and other games where another player like DDV or Deuce was out and he’d get minutes as more of a scorer.

Is he 3rd string? Is he even 4th string? Donte doesn’t figure to get enough minutes at the 2, maybe we slide him to the 1 if enough guys go down. The depth chart probably goes something like:

    PG: Brunson/Kolek/Deuce/Donte
    SG: Mikal/Donte/Deuce/Hart

But if all those guys go down, yeah we can probably play Rokas a couple minutes. There’s too many guys who need to many minutes and too many redundancies to make rostering Rokas necessary.

He’s better served playing in Tel Aviv, both personally and for the Knicks. Ideally, we’d have traded him to guarantee some return on investment but he’s probably not worth a lot and who knows, maybe he can join when we need to shed salary.

Dunn might be a guy who succeeds more in an NBA offense that can better compensate for his lack of individual skill plus a bit more time to nail down chemistry for his cuts.

But yeah, this is why I dropped him closer to the draft. Dunn has zero offensive ability, even Frank could pass the ball and (kind of) dribble.

what are the odds Payne plays any real minutes (i.e. not in garbage time) for the Knicks in 2024? I’m guessing less than 50%.

For fucks sake. Delta cancelled my flight to Dallas. Still reeling from crowdstrike. Can we get a better timeline please? Though, I do think it’s time to settle the anchovies thing once and for all. They are simply put, the finest pizza topping and also toasted baguette slathered with butter and anchovies is bangin. Also, you know if it’s between Kolek and Rokas you’re really thinking practice squad and kolek brings a dimension to the practices that no one on the Knicks does. Payne is like a joy to have. Can we just revel in having point guards and ball handlers and guards. I like this part of the timeline.

Yeah Alan, I liked Dunn and if Leon and our scouts liked him, I would have been fine with him as a project type of pick. But I think that Dunn was not a great pick for PHX. He projects to be a very strong defensive wing, but one that can’t shoot, so at the very least, he will need some time to develop. Having a shitty summer league probably raises the level of urgency for him to fix at least some of whatever is wrong with his shooting. But PHX needs more of a ready for action right now type. Maybe they feel like with Durant, Booker and Beal out there, and a C like Nurkic that can score, they can tolerate his bad shooting for a while and need his defense.

“what are the odds Payne plays any real minutes (i.e. not in garbage time) for the Knicks in 2024? I’m guessing less than 50%.”

I see Payne largely as an insurance policy in case:
    a) a rotation guard gets injured or needs load management
    b) Kolek doesn’t have it

What I wanted was Kolek to be backup PG and Rokas to be 3rd string PG/SG.

3rd string PG/SG is Deuce McBride’s job, and Deuce is far better at it than Rokas.

This team absolutely needed a dedicated backup PG besides Kolek. If Jalen Brunson goes down for two weeks, Payne can easily replace him in the starting lineup and keep Kolek from getting overwhelmed. Rokas is absolutely not ready for that job.

Payne was a very solid signing. I was hoping we’d get Dennis Smith, this is much better than I thought possible.

Let’s be honest: OG Anunoby is likely to miss 1/3 to half of the season, so our depth chart when he’s on garden leave is very important. The front office recognized this probability, and the Payne signing represents remarkable foresight.

Look at our depth chart without OG:

    1 Brunson, Kolek
    2 Donte, Deuce
    3 Bridges, Hart
    4 Randle, Hart
    5 Robinson, TBD

Now imagine an injury to Brunson. Nothing long term, maybe just a game or two.

You want Payne or Rokas when that happens?

This is a seemingly small move but I think it’s one of the smartest signings of the administration. Most teams are forced to go to someone like Rokas. Payne is overqualified for the job.

Anchovies actually suck even more than eggs do, and that’s saying quite a lot. Whoever it was who woke up one day and exclaimed “I know! Let’s put *fish* on pizza!” should have been drawn and quartered immediately. Simlarly, olives and mushrooms. Bleccccccchhhhhhh.

Clarence, please help me understand your life. 🙂 I know (because you’ve said so) that you’re a busy guy at work and all, so how is it that you can jet off to Europe and Dallas seemingly at a moment’s notice? I certainly couldn’t do that! (I’m probably just jealous. Then again, I’ve spent a lot of time in Texas, including Dallas, so I’m definitely not jealous about that part. There is nothing specifically charming or “Texas-y” about Dallas. It’s like they picked up Philadelphia and just dropped it off in Texas.)

. They are simply put, the finest pizza topping and also toasted baguette slathered with butter and anchovies is bangin.

sounds like a new NBA skills competition for the all-star game…

The guy who came up with pineapple immediately goes to the head of that line. What do you have against toppings on pizza?

Funny story–for most people, the Crowdstrike boondoggle was a headache at work. Our systems weren’t affected at all, but the marshals’ were, so all evictions on Friday were canceled. I basically got a snow day.

I love toppings on pizza. My all-time favorite pizza would probably have bacon (don’t eat it anymore because I’m Jewish), pepperoni (same), ground beef, green peppers, and onions. But even besides the Jewish thing, I only get cheese pizza now on the rare occasion that I have pizza at all…….only a few times a year. And that’s so I don’t get fat. If it weren’t for that, I’d probably want to have pizza and hamburgers and fries and onion rings and candy all day long…….but instead I basically have none of those things. I eat a lot of chicken and shrimp.

Just curious but how significant do you deem the dropoff? I prefer the fresh but canned fish with some fresh greens is one of my go to meals when I don’t have time to cook something.

My guess is that Strat has not actually watched a lot of Cam Payne. Here are some highlights from his 2020-21 season in PHX, when he put up a 3.1 BPM in the regular season and a 2.2 BPM in a 22-game playoff run. He averafed 16.8/4.8/7.2 per 36 on a .602 TS% at a 20% usage and a 28% AST% with a 7.2/2.0 AST/TOV ratio. Now that was probably a career year for him, but on a minimum salary you are extremely fortunate to find a player in his prime capable of being that good.

He’s probably not going to roll over and accept a long string of DNP-CDs without a fight. He raises the bar for the backup PG role far beyond what Rokas could. Whatever downside Strat is creating in his mind about Payne somehow usurping Rokas’ rightful spot is hogwash.

Doogie, I am flying to Dallas to pitch a project which I have developed over the past five years of my. I write and produce so 90 percent of my work is accessible on mobile computing device. I travel relatively frequently for my work because I have been fortunate to be part of great teams that have made noteworthy things. I am a hedonist. I learned about life from the movie Harold and Maude. I eat everything. I have no aversions to food except for poorly crafted food. I’m also Jewish but don’t believe a word of it so I get down with bacon. I think the only thing to be ashamed of is harming other people without just cause. You might wanna consider me a figment.

Just curious but how significant do you deem the dropoff? I prefer the fresh but canned fish with some fresh greens is one of my go to meals when I don’t have time to cook something.

Most canned anchovies have an incredible amount of salt. I think a 2oz can provides 70% of the RDA for sodium. 2 oz of fresh anchovies have about 3% of the RDA for sodium…. hence, I prefer fresh anchovies by a lot. https://www.heb.com/product-detail/cento-flat-fillet-of-anchovies-in-olive-oil/160827

I am 100% with Clarence on the anchovy front. They are an amazing pizza topping and the way they melt into oil as the foundation for a sauce is like magic. I like fresh but the canned salted ones or even the paste is such a crucial cooking ingredient.

As for Rokas, I am bummed. I think Rokas is NBA ready and would have shown as much if on our roster. There wasn’t a ton of room in the rotation but too many talented players is never a bad thing and I think we have another trade coming and could see Randle and possibly Deuce or even Kolek going out which would clear some of the log jam. As for right now, Deuce is still very much in the rotation, as he should be, and I would be shocked if Kolek or Payne get minutes ahead of him.

On a side note, I think the way the NBA handles international players is disgusting. Teams shouldn’t be able to hold international players hostage forcing them to stay in Europe when they want to come over. As soon as a player wants to come to the NBA and says as much the team that holds his rights should be forced to sign him or relinquish control. A team can’t hold American players hostage and force them to wait years to sign with an NBA team while still holding their rights.

Bob, I owe you a belated note of gratitude. You once wrote an impressive missive on lentils which I copied, pasted, and saved in a google doc. It turned out to be very handy during the multiple lockdowns of NYC.

I’m glad to be of service 🙂

Lentils are a great source of protein and are easy to prepare. I wish the had a few less carbohydrates, but plants gonna plant. I’m keeping a few extra pounds in case the poop hits the fan November 5th…

Salt ain’t the enemy. Sugar is.

In general, I agree with you that from a biochemical health perspective simple carbohydrates are the spawn of Satan, but many people are extra sensitive to salt and it is wise not to go overboard with it.

“too many talented players is never a bad thing…”

This is not actually true because talented players who aren’t playing are often disgruntled. But aside from that, in Rokas’ case, given the rules regarding draft rights, we still have that “talented” player! I am with TNFH in strongly believing that it is better for both Rokas and the Knicks for him to continue developing in Euroleague rather than to be the 14-15th man on the end of a contending team’s bench, especially one with Thibs as coach.

As to your point about the rules them selves, I tend to agree. I see no reason why teams should be able to hold players hostage indefinitely. Maybe a year or two would be a fair compromise, but there should be a point where you either have to bring him over or relinquish his rights.

It’s funny that I’ve gone from low-level worry about our backup point guard hole to high-level worry about our backup point guard glut. I guess it’s a good high-level worry to have, but I fear for Deuce, as Brunson-Payne is a perfectly good tandem, with Kolek slowly getting minutes as he shows he’s deserving. But I wanna see Deuce play. The second half of last season was a revelation — one of those ‘the perfect version of himself’ things you never actually see (well, except for Brunson, I guess).

I literally wrote a page-long screed on sardines to my sister this morning, who did not eat them in Maine yesterday (sardines are youthfully indiscrete pilchards from southern Europe). She probably had teenage herring. Which is fine, only a nerd would know the difference.

Z-Man – You are right that talented players can get disgruntled but that is rarely a problem for rookies and 2nd year players so I think we would have some time to figure it out before anyone got too frustrated.

I would worry a bit about Rokas getting frustrated with the Knicks and not wanting to play for us. If Rokas is upset with us and plays well enough to have lots of interest he could ask the Knicks to trade his rights and Leon would probably do it. Leon is generally a decent person when it comes to his dealings with players, which is a good thing but it means we probably can only jerk Rokas around for so long.

Well it seems Rokas likes the knafeh more than the tinned fish. I’d be torn af between Barca and TLV. Seeing Gal Gadot and the cast of 300 everywhere on the beach ain’t bad though.

sounds like a new NBA skills competition for the all-star game…

    LOL Geo!

    Who will be favorite?

Anchovies are delicious. They should be on pizza. I should watch my sodium. Still, anchovies are delicious. I’m eating them now.

On another note, the more research I do on Mikal Bridges, the more I think he is going to blossom into an all-NBA player with us, meaning a player more than worth the assets we gave up for him. In other words, he’s more of a 2-way superstar than an elite role player. Just watch all the shit that he does in this video…he’s pretty far removed from being simply a 3-and-D+ player.

He was miscasted as a #1 option in Brooklyn, but actually did pretty well…hell, a lot better than Randle did in 2021-22! The diversity in his offensive game is clearly there, he can score in many different ways including against top defenders one-on-one. And he has already been first team all-defense. I think he is primed to rise to the level of this team and give them exactly what they need…and this will be the best team he ever played on in the NBA, better than the Suns team that went to the finals.

This is certainly possible. Let’s see how he does in Israel. It seems like a golden opportunity for him to really show out.

In the old CBA, a Eurostash who was still stashed after some time could be released 12 months after formally asking to be rostered. Is that still the case?

Anti-anchovy take may be the worst take.

Alan, you didn’t mention hm but Alex Sarr was ludicrously bad in summer league, I think some of these draft picks are going down in history.

I saw 70 comments by 10:00am on a tuesday in late July and figured the Randle Trade must have gone down…

    Nope. Just Rokas and Anchovies.

Bored. Procrastinating. How’s our long-distance shooting? Last year (parens career):

    Randle 31.1 (33.3)
    OG 38.2 (37.6)
    Bridges 37.2 (37.5)
    Donte 40.1 (37.6)
    Hart 31.0 (34.4)
    Brunson 40.1 (39.1)
    Payne 39.0 (36.9)
    Deuce 41.0 (35.5)
Kolek 39.7 (last year in college)

Not so shabby. Some career years, a few below average years. I think the NBA average last year was 36.6, so seven of our top 10 players are above average from deep. (Mitch forgot to take any…)

Now back to work, damn it…

The only conceivable way Deuce doesn’t play 1200 mins is if we get 70+ games of OG and near perfect Brunson health for most of the season. So I hope you don’t see a lot of him, but you probably will.

I am shockingly bad at the human verification when I try to log in. It makes me question my own humanity.

My biggest worry about our team moving forward is Randle’s shot. If he can be over 36% he is a big asset if he has another down year it could really hurt us.

Speaking of pizza, durian pizza is very popular here in China. I haven’t tried it because I am not a fan of durian. It’s a love it or hate it fruit.

damn ben, for a minute a had to recall the day…children are multiplying around me…

okay it’s tuesday…so the amusing thing to me reference ai and bots getting together – saw something that said some folks could be ingesting a credit card’s worth of plastic, weekly…

no need to worry about them taking over, we’re turning ourselves into synths (fallout’s ai bot “race”)…

okay, that probably seems amusing to no one but me…i wonder though, how long before our biology adapts…

tell me bob – is there a best way to consume plastic…

tell me bob – is there a best way to consume plastic…

I’ll answer this with a quote from the 80’s Mathew Broderick movie War Games where at the end the computer learns the only way to “win” a global thermonuclear war is “not to play the game!”

Estimating there has been +/- 10,000 generations of human evolution and plastics have been in the environment in quantity for maybe 3, I’m guessing it will be a very long time, if ever, before plastics become readily consumable.

Yeah really exciting watching Jamai Jones and JD Davis bat leadoff and cleanup for the team who somehow has the best run differential in MLB. I get to watch arguably the 2 best players in baseball everyday yet I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed watching a Yankees team less than this year.

I’m kinda having the opposite experience…gave up on the Mets in May and expected a fire sale, and lo and behold, here we are in wild card position!

Still missing their 4 and 5 hitters and Ben Rice (the replacement for the 5 hitter) is hitting .195 as the league figures out righties can get him to swing over change ups and he hasn’t adjusted yet. They also need Dominguez to heal up so they can dump Verdugo.

Boone said today that Jasson should be back playing in Scranton later this week, I say after just a couple of games call him up. Stanton could be back this weekend too.

at this point it should be abundantly clear…boone is bad mojo…

it’s the gm’s team, get someone else to manage it…

not sure whom that might be…

is it like a pungent cheese kind of smell KfniNJ?

I’m sure at some point I tried anchovies…or maybe not…

It does have a characteristic smell and flavor. I wouldn’t call it cheesy though

Durian is hands down, by a mile, the worst food I have ever attempted to consume.

Vegemite comes in a distant second.
