Meaningful game for RJ,
it’s clear they schemed for him, let’s see if he plays stubbornly or he’s able to dish and share…

The guys on the home broadcast are saying PJ’s shot is off, so why not put Fournier on him and better defenders on Robinson and Jimmy?

This is the fourth game back for Grimes,
until now he has not been close to what he was before the knee injury…

Lots of rookie gaffes.

Then again Burks (1-3), Fournier (1-4), and Barrett (1-5) are shooting shit from three.

Even the rats have abandoned ship to go to Fournier island, i’m all alone now. 😀

Clyde, “I don’t think Tucker should elude anyone off the bounce.” 😉

Fournier Island got to watch Evan crash into a pick like he’d never seen one before and fall completely on his ass so the team had to play four on five on D.

And yet “We here” 😉

Let”s not forget that Miami is a very good team, best record in the East, they’re known for their defense and they’re pissed off.

Plus Butler loves to give RJ a lesson after the 46 points he scored in their last matchup…

Wizards won, Hornets won, Hawks with a 10 pt lead and 9 mins to play. This is turning out to be a great night.

Ivey was terrible, but they didn’t do a good job of getting him looks on offense

Where to now St Peter’s? (Elton John fans will get the reference)

I’m a Jersey City resident, the city is going nuts

On that last Barrett drive, looked like there were three different moments where he could have threaded a pass to Obi for the flush, but none of them happened.

We need a point guard…

DRed: Ivey was terrible, but they didn’t do a good job of getting him looks on offense

Thanks. Not good that he didn’t rise up to the moment, but i think he’s still my target to trade up (because he’ll be drafted 4th, probably).

We can’t put on a sustained stretch,
the Heat are too good and punish every miss, every defensive slip, every mental lapse…
Good growing experience for our young guys…

Max: Good growing experience for our young guys…

Exactly, wins are not important, the learning experience is.

Burks The Wing from the bench is a very valuable player (how did the contenders let him slip at the trade deadline?), Burks The Forced PG not so much…

Raven:
… and smart defense by Fournier (golf clapping from The Island…).

Haha. Fournier stinking up the joint on offense tonight, but we need him on the floor to shut down Butler 😉

The rats are back, they’re saying they can’t stand Fournier’s defense. ;D

Terrible decision and horrible shot for RJ on the fastbreak, he needs to clear that shit.

Obi with a nice pull up jumper and a very good quarter…

Obi is playing with a lot of confidence. Maybe playing more does this to young players.

Obi is like, (cough) “I was consensus National basketball player of the year, so … play me?”
Thibs is like, (cough) “Come sit down over here.”

The Rookies’ Brigade with a giant middle finger to Psycho, so heart warming…

Baby Knicks, “Draft picks? We don’t need no stinkin’ draft picks.”

thibs just instinctively motioned for Randle to check in…then realized he was in street clothes

Ha ha ha! If the young Knicks pull this off Miami is gonna go into full meltdown. That’ll be fun to watch.

LOL

Thibs keeps looking down the bench “there’s gotta be an old guy I can put in to stop this nonsense “

Instead, he just reminded them to stop cutting and passing, “Guys, it’s the fourth quarter!!” -> 3 straight iso chucks.

I was able to read Thibs’ clipboard: “Who can I call out of retirement? Deng?”

It’s funny, the Knicks are better off losing this game, but it is delightful watching the Heat freak out.

I know we want losses, but a win in Miami with this lineup? I’d be good with that

This is the most comfortable and in control IQ has looked at PG all season.

The thing is that the draft position isn’t, like, dependent on how “good” your unnecessary wins are. I totally get the feeling (as it is so much fun seeing the Heat freak out), but it’s probably not something we should be good with.

thibs has no inbounds play in his playbook

Probably more so than anything else about Thibs, the thing that most surprises me about him in a negative sense is that for a guy as smart as he is, he never calls good out of timeout plays. It’s so weird. This is where the typical smart coaches thrive.

The heat announcers are impressed almost all the Knicks points in the fourth quarter have come from Grimes, McBride and Quickley and how young they are. It was all the Knick points for the fourth quarter, but I think then Barrett made two free throws.

DRed:
Young Knicks would have won 50 games this year

Haha. Beat me to it: Play the Young Knicks? ~ 50 win season (just like we all said).

Max: If we take this game I never want to see Julius Randle in a Knicks uniform again… 🙂

Sorry guys, I had to quote myself… 😉

This is a great win with all the young guys doing good things , defending, drilling clutch shots, snatching rebounds, hitting free throws…

We had to wait for moths while Psycho let Mr.Ego running wild… fuck them both!

Man, watching the young Knicks play and seeing how much money they have tied up in guys who are, like, superfluous is…an experience. It’s probably not good that you can subtract the vast majority of the $120 million that the Knicks spent on guys this season (including Noah’s dead money) and you don’t miss them when they’re not there.

Butler would probably prefer to have Thibs as his head coach right now than Spo.

Great meaningless win! So Knicksy!

With the Heat in turmoil and the Knicks the Knicks, I thought that this was about an 80% chance of a win. I told my brother to bet on it in a parlay, that’s how confident I was. I was not feeling very confident heading into the fourth, though. 😉

I’ll do a coach trade in a second, everything to help Jimmy 🙂

Love the closing killer instinct from IQ and Deuce and Grimes, but we must share the love with Sims (loved his game tonight) and Obadiah!!!!

Yeah, all five played brilliantly in the fourth.

All these wins show is that we would’ve been a few games better had we played the young guys earlier. Cant get upset at wins if our 5 best players tonight were under 25

Every player did something tonight, even Burks and Fournier had their moments,
that’s what depth is for, mix and match, play the hot hands, find the right lineup, read the game…

But no, we had to endure Automatic Substitution Pattern for months,
double standards, fake meritocracy, horrible meltdowns, isolation plays to close quarters and games over and over, 10-seconds sighting for rookies…

What a shame, what a waste of talent…

Thibs on the defensive in the Post Game, “I see a lot of opinions out there, but how many of those people have done the work of looking at these games after they’ve been played. To really know what happened.”

Dude, without trying to sound gratuititous, it’s folks like you that make me proud to have never rooted for a loss. As a bit player who loves basketball, I always said to myself, play every game as if it would be your last. The kids made me proud tonight because they played that way.

Rose should want to fire him just for this bullshit. “No, no, this is because of me.” Ugh.

yeah…thibs never read the “better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool…than open it and remove all doubt”….book of quotes..

Researches Jericho Sims avatar photos….

Why did Sims start over Motch?

This is another game where the plus minus differential between those two was quite stark.

Mitch was doubtful for tonight, but they decided to play him at the last minute. I guess it was too close to change the lineup for whatever reason. Sims reminds me a little of Ben Wallace.

Yeah, I was really impressed by how gutsy Mitch’s performance was, playing hurt. They really didn’t need him, so it was kind of odd, but still gutsy.

It’s good to see Quick playing well again. He was pretty bad for part of this season. Even I was getting worried and I pay little attention to short term ups and downs over 20 games or less. He was a big part of our success last year. This year we were bad when he was playing bad. Now he’s playing well again and so is the team. He has a kind of positive energy when things are going well for him that seems to translate to the rest of the players on the court with him. I still don’t think he’s a PG, but he has “6th man of the year” written all over him in bright neon. You want a guy with high energy that can just start lighting it up, change the momentum, and get everyone rolling. That’s Quick !!!

He’s still so streaky that it is hard to give too much weight to a good streak, but the most important thing and why I am excited about him next season, is that he really seems to be learning how to get BS foul calls again. That’s huge going forward.

You know, by the eye test he made some nice passes, ones that he wouldn’t have made last year. But the recipients must have missed the shots because he ended up with only three assists. But it’s still an improvement. He used to be single minded about shooting once he got the ball.

That particular group of Young Knicks was all about making the extra pass. It was great to see (well, in the game itself, draft position-wise, less great, but in the game, it was great to see).

Really Proud of these badmfkrs
I knew the final score and still couldn’t believe how the fuk they turned this game around during the 4th…
Proud, impressed and thankful for this one!

I know it came after a win, but my goodness did that Thibs postgame speech sound a lot like the kind of paranoid ramblings that got Joe Judge fired.

Right? Holy shit, it was bad.

So there’s still hope?

Somebody pointed out that it was in response to a Berman of the Post question, and Berman has been stirring shit far more extremely than usual of late. So it may be more about Thibs (and the rest of the organization) lashing back at BOTP than about Knicks Twitter spending all year pleading for him to play the kids.

But at the same time, the optics of saying this after a game that was won on the backs of the aforementioned kids he refused to play earlier is… not great, Bob.

Berman is such a shit-stirrer. He did a bit the other day about how “Maybe Rose won’t last as long as Thibs.” Like, is he trying to get Thibs fired? I mean, if so, keep trying, Marc! But I don’t think that’s actually his goal. It’s just to create maximum chaos.

Also, in that same article, Berman established that he clearly doesn’t understand the rules of base year free agents (you would think a professional basketball writer would at least educate himself on how contracts work in the NBA).

For all of Thibs’ obvious faults, his players play hard for him and truly seem to love him. They seem to like him a lot more than we do. It’s kind of odd.
